I worked in restaurants for 10+ years, both back of house and front of house. I would never leave a bad review unless it was 110% warranted. We dined in the bar area on Friday Sept 26, and we were a party of 6. Service was good, and drinks were fine. The restaurant had a pretty limited menu for Syracuse Family Weekend. This was fine, as that was our reason for being in town, and everyone found something to order. The problem was the food.
Two of us ordered filet mignon, medium and medium rare. Mine was the blandest, most flavorless steak I have ever eaten. My daughter said the same. The color was correct for medium rare, perhaps a little under-done, but the steak was completely DRY. For $50 per filet, I expect perfection, not something that tastes like they bought it from a 7-11 (if 7-11 sold steak).
We also had two orders of gnocchi, which was unimpressive, at best. Sauce tasted like a jar of Ragu. The salmon itself was apparently fine, but the spinach and sauce it was served with tasted and looked like it was cooked a week before and left to turn to mush.
The restaurant wasn't even that busy - seemed ridiculous to have a limited menu. The purpose of a limited menu on a busy weekend is so that food quality is preserved to the restaurant's standards. I guess Strada Mia's standards are really, really low. We will not be returning.
