19 Best Museums in Los Angeles

"A contemporary and experimental hub of multidisciplinary art and architecture in West Hollywood, recommended as “a wonderful example of modern Bauhaus-inspired architecture.” The house was built in 1922 and designed by R.M. Schindler." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"R.M. Schindler’s 1920’s home is the headquarters for this Art & Architecture Center. There are exhibitions and events throughout the year, but the main pull is visiting the house that Schindler designed as a communal live/work space. It’s an icon of modern design."

i went here for my architecture class trip. if you wanna see beautiful Japanese architecture, I would go here. It was a house made for two families to live together. It almost feels like you’re in a different city when you walk through here. and there’s even temporary art installations inside the home.

Three stars because I enjoy walk through exhibits, architecture, and pretending what life would have been like. It's very quick and intriguing. Probably would have been more gorgeous during the spring blooms and if it had a pond. It's not thrilling, but serene.

I don’t know why ceiling is so low. Entire space is inspiring, a lot of details you can enjoy. Furniture is beautiful. Outdoor space is quite calming.

An architectural and cultural landmark. The Schindler house has no traditional facade. You can experience the house only by moving through space.

Tickets are not available for September 21 or 24, I wonder why? We’ll only be there from 9/21-24, and both dates are not available?? 9/24 is a Jewish holiday but not National Holiday. Please explain, thank you.

A wonderful example of early Los Angeles experimental architecture, R. M. Schindler's home and studio is a modern, minimal, and heartwarming specimen that is both historic and yet futuristic at once. It's small, but worth the trip for any true lovers of Schindler, Wright, etc. or modernist Organic Architecture. From the tilt slab concrete to the redwood roof surrounded by beautiful courtyards and gardens right in the heart of West Hollywood, this is a place to appreciate the thoughtfulness and creativity exhibited in the tiniest of details, as well as the overall composition. Helpful docents and a cute little book/gift shop.

This is Rudolf Schindler's house on King Street. It is closed due to an ongoing renovation. The roof seems to be redone, and it illustrates that how low the ceiling is inside the house. Interestingly, we ran into Sandra Ng and Peter Chan on the way out; they probably live just across the street from the King Road House.

I was really looking forward to seeing this house. We drove an hour to see the house after paying for the tickets online. They sent reminder emails about the reserved time. However, when we went to the house the house was closed with only sign saying closed due to hot weather. They couldn’t bother emailing people with reservations so we don’t have to drive far or even offer refunds or rescheduling. Really a disappointing and frustrating experience!
