The empanadas are so good and fair price! I had 3 and it was the perfect amount to be full. The pastries omg! The milhojas was DELICIOUS, it tasted like a mini rogel (Rogel its my favorite dessert in argentina and this mil hojas made me so happy) And we also tried the guava + ddl factura, also really good! Highly recommend this place. Aguanten los lugares de comida Argentina que si te hacen acordar a casa 🇦🇷 :)

While driving through South San Francisco this morning I happen to glance at a sign….”Cocina Milonga Argentinian Empanadas”. I parked on the street and made my way into the store, I was greeted immediately with a a big smile by a gentleman behind the service area, I took a look at the menu on the wall and ordered four Empanadas. One Ham and Cheese with Black Forest Ham and Mozzarella Cheese, my second choice was the Chorizo Empanadas with Argentinian Style Chorizo, Provolone Cheese, served with Chimichurri, I also ordered the Fugazzeta filled with Roasted Onions, White Cheddar and Mozzarella Cheese Seasoned with Oregano, and my last choice had to be the Beef Empanada with Ground Beef, Onions Olives, Hard Boiled Egg and Raisins. I had to make room for one of their dessert pastries and ordered the Pastel de Manzana, puff pastry filled with an Apple and Coconut filling. The Mate Cocido had to be ordered to compliment my order from the Barista. I enjoyed the Baked Artisan empanadas (known as turn overs in English) and finished every morsel. During my conversation with the owner he mentioned that they also service the Chase Center at the Portal 30 Pepsi Club. The place was spotless and had a nice view from the window seats with a nice ambiance listening to Argentinian music facing the Alina way. The location is tuck away in the opposite corner across the street from See’s Candies.

Google
The empanadas tasted okay. Definitely better ones out there. For the taste and portion, nor worth $5.5 each. The service was very slow. There was one customer ordering in front of us when we walked in. We were told 5-6min wait to heat up the empanadas. We ended up waiting for 20min after ordering to get our food.

Google
Delicious and authentic empanadas, that take me back to my time in Buenos Aires. I’m excited to come back again soon!

Becca Bloom

Google
Amazing empanadas! I’m always in search of empanadas and I’m so happy that there is a phenomenal one on the peninsula. It’s baked to perfection with a variety of flavors - glad there are many vegetarian options. The mushroom and the caprese are the best!!!

अक्षत उनियाल

Google
Great empanadas. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Attention to detail. Kind and friendly people at the helm. Seems like a family run business. Clean and cute interior. Lots of things on display and available for purchase. Don't forget to add a small serving of chimichurri to the order - it takes the food to another level!

Nishka Uberoi

Google
I have always doordashed from here and every now and then I find myself craving their food. The best thing is that they have several delicious vegetarian options and their chimichurri sauce is addictive.

Carlos Toledo

Google
Great experience. The empanadas are great, the mushroom one is too die for. They also have chimichurri, alfajores, café, mate and everything delicious.

Yelp
My friends and I came in to try the empanadas that another friend said were the best empanadas he's ever had. Eloisa was at the front and she welcomed us in and walked us through the menu, since it was our first visit. I had asked her what her favorites were and she led us to our selections. We ordered: spinach, ham & cheese, caprese, mushroom, roasted veggies, fugazzeta, humita, and chorizo, plus some pasta frola (guava pastry) and frangipane tart for dessert. They were heated for us and packed to go. I like how the empanadas are labeled with letters pressed onto the dough! Eloisa chatted with us while we waited and we had a great time! She was super friendly and funny. She gave us a sample of the palmiers and packed two little containers of chimichurri sauce for my birthday! What a nice, welcoming place! When we got back to my place, we cut the empanadas into threes and had a feast. They were all delicious! Our favorites ended up being the vegetarian ones- roasted veggies, humita and spinach! But the chorizo one and ham & cheese one were up there too! It is hard to pick a favorite because they were all so good. The desserts were also wondeful! I don't think that you can go wrong with anything on the menu, and I will be back to try the rest of the menu! Thank you, Eloisa and Cocina Milonga, for great service and excellent empanadas! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Came here on a whim because I was craving some empanadas! This place is tucked into an inside street and is a small cafe that serves up some Argentinian treats. Inside the place, the cafe was nicely decorated (so colorful!) and featured many Argentinian products like local coffees and mates. Because it was my first time here, I asked the lady at the counter for some recommendations because I was a little indecisive. While I was the only customer there, she seemed a little unfriendly and annoyed with my questions and only recommended the beef one. At the end, I got two empanadas: beef and humita. To my pleasant surprise, they were actually both really good! I liked the flakiness of the shell and the fillings were flavorful. I enjoyed them and would likely come back (although I may opt for pick up only in the future!).

Yelp
I would give this place 6 stars if I could! My partner found this place on a quick search, and after I looked more on Yelp, I agreed we should check it out. & I am so so glad we did. Service was so welcoming and kind! It was sincere and genuine. To my understanding this was the smaller location out of the two, but it was nicely decorated and clean and had some seating at the window front. Now to the food! We tried the chorizo empanadas which were cooked to perfection, flavorful and the chimichurri sauce is absolutely amazing. I regret not buying some to go!! The apple empanada was fantastic... I could have ate 3 by myself! If I could get these mailed back to PA, I would. Highly recommend. So glad we found this spot!

Yelp
Ambiance 5/5 Cool little spot with some bar stools facing the street to enjoy your coffee and treats Service 5/5 Excellent service on explaining the different types of empanadas (savory & sweet). So, if you have a question, do not hesitate to ask. Food 5/5 We had the special Tomato & Basil, Chicken & Mushroom empanadas with their "spicy" sauce. Their sauce is not really "spicy" but does have a very small kick. The sauce is as in taste DELICIOUS! We also ordered to pastries (guava one and mango one) but we have not eaten it yet. Saving it for dessert for dinner All in all, you will not be disappointed with their empanadas so what are you waiting for? Go now and get your empanada fix

Gillian A.

Yelp
Huge props to the young lady holding the front counter. Very friendly and professional. She was eager to answer any questions that I had about the menu and happily walked me through the unlabeled treats in the display case upon request. She also informed me of unlisted empanada flavor specials and I ended up getting some of those. The BBQ pulled pork empanada was amazing; succulent pork chunks! The tomato and basil empanada was a little lacking on flavor but had a satisfying mozzarella cheese pull. Unfortunately not a fan of the Mexican chorizo empanada as the chorizo was a bit salty and dry. Also got some items from the display case. The guava tart was slightly overly sweet but the buttery and crispy shortbread crust encouraged me to continue eating the tart in just small bites over time. The filling of the pineapple and coconut empanada was quite gloopy when it was hot (wished the pineapple component was more like a jam instead of being of juicy pineapple pieces); this empanada was much better to eat once the filling consistency thickened at room temp. Overall 4 stars for the food and added a star for the stellar service.

Nancy M.

Yelp
Amazing...delicious...adorable establishment in South San Francisco. The colorful space pulls you in to temp your tastebuds with special empanadas, tasty coffee and sweet treats from Argentina! We enjoyed the attentive counter service, the mushroom, spinach, beef and chicken empanadas. The coffee was served in an ample cup and saucer and was huge! Yay! We purchased some of their frozen empanadas to share with friends along with their chimichurri sauce! If you have not tried, it's a must! Clean, friendly and a neighborhood gem!

Polina L.

Yelp
This cafe is a fantastic spot to grab a meal. The cashier provides excellent service, the place is spotless, and the food is delicious. If you're in the mood for a Mexican-style breakfast and happen to live nearby, I recommend visiting this cafe to savor a peaceful and relaxed morning atmosphere! P.S. For the first time my husband and I tried the empanadas and were pleasantly surprised by their delicious and unique flavor. This probably added extra score to the positive experience at the cafe.

Monica C.

Yelp
Love this Argentinian pastry shop! They sell everything fresh! Empanadas are very tasty and they also heat them up so you can eat it hot! My favorite are the mushroom, beef, and chicken. Mushroom is the most moist with more flavors than both beef or chicken. The pastry is very fresh with a crunchy, flaky, and buttery crust that is not dry. The worker said the pineapple one is her favorite for sweet empanada. I decided to get the other pastries she recommended which are the apple and blueberry tarts. The tarts are interesting as the inside has a very mushy texture. The blueberry one has more flavor than the apple one which reminds me of a very light cinnamon apple pie. The best and most popular pastry is their pastel de Gloria. They usually sell out this pastry before I get here. After trying the pastel de Gloria, it quickly becomes the favorite item for me, my family, and homies. The guava pastry by itself is good too but no way does it compare to pastel de Gloria. The best thing to do is pre-order the pastel de Gloria for pick up the day before or if you are lucky like me, the worker baked fresh ones for me with a 15-20min wait. So delicious! A sweet caramel with guava jam inside a toasty puff that reminds me of a croissant! Must try!! Just for the record, this is not a hangout spot so not a place to bring a date to have intimate conversations. It is a small space with a few chairs available for those waiting for their orders. Conversations are easily heard across the room. Prices are reasonable with both empanadas and pastel de Gloria costing $4.75 each. I easily spent $60 here for the baked goods! Definitely a bakery I recommend to family and friends. On the plus side, they are also vegetarian and vegan friendly!

Kendall C.

Yelp
A favorite on the office lunch rotation! I've yet to try an empanada here that wasn't perfection! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Plus the workers are so nice!

Juan D.

Yelp
So I found this place, thanks to a friend. Sadly, my friend had been coming here for a year and did not give up the info, wtf... It's OK now, we talked about it and I have forgiven him. We were getting ready to hit a café on Grand Avenue the other day and I said to him I was looking forward to trying their empanadas. He looks at me and says, "You want to eat better empanadas? I know of a great place". I put the car and drive and we took off! This spot is a hidden little gem, right around the corner from the south San Francisco bowling alley. It's the last place you would think of, that would have a variety of delicious empanadas! Also, the cherry on top, they serve mate and sell it! As soon as we walked in the front door, we were welcomed into this cool little eatery. I love the way the place is decorated and the items that you can purchase. I've always wondered where I would go to, to get some yerba maté, and also the legit vessel to drink it in. It's all here!!! For those of you who have never had mate, it's kind of like our South American tea and you should definitely give it a try. I kept it basic and old-school and ordered the beef empanadas and a maté. Now let me tell you a little something. I'm from Chile and I grew up on the Chilean cuisine and especially empanadas. I can also honestly admit, I am a empanada freak/connoisseur and this place is legit! As soon as I bit into it, it instantly transported me back to my moms kitchen and her incredible cooking. The taste, texture and aromas are definitely there and you will not be disappointed. Other than the two that I had, I took four more to go. Finally, the hospitality, service, conversation, knowledge of their food and how it was prepared, was above and beyond. You can tell they love what they do and do it with pride. I can't wait to go back and try all the other empanada types! Thanks guys, I truly enjoyed the experience and the goodies that you guys prepare. I'll be back!

John P.

Yelp
Love this cute little shop! They have a lot of coffee beans you can buy, great food, and service is friendly. Honestly, all of the Argentinian empanadas are yummy but my personal fav is the chicken! You can tell what is inside the empanada because on the outside, they have letters that represent the filling. The Palmeritas are really good as well. Definitely a must try if you are in the area!

Akbar A.

Yelp
The beef empanadas are delicious! However, the prices are a bit high, especially considering the small portions. That said, this place is charming and perfect for a quiet, blissful breakfast.

Gabriel D.

Yelp
They have all the premium Yerba Mate plus so E delicious teas as well, the alfajores are a must and so are the empanadas which took me 40 past to Buenos Aires and a pizza empanadas joint in Laprida. The variety is great so if you're vegetarian or vegan or what ever floats your boat you can get an empanada and a coke and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon. The staff is super friendly and helpful. So if you're craving a small piece of Buenos Aires stop by.

Melanie M.

Yelp
Super delicious empanadas, pastries, and coffee! Friendly customer service too! Lovely place to enjoy the yummy food!

Warren B.

Yelp
Great food and a good value. The vegetable empanada is incredible. The chorizo is pretty good too.

Kenneth G.

Yelp
Best empanadas in the Bay Area ‼ The staff is very kind and helpful when it comes to ordering empanadas and pastries. They also set me up with a Mate, bombilla and gave me a very detailed lesson about all the yerba mates they have there. Highly recommend it to everyone to check out

PB A.

Yelp
We had a delicious snack-turned-lunch! Beef, chicken, and chorizo empanadas, with chimichurri sauce. Then finished with guava and tres leches pastry. So delicious! Hands down the best empanada spot in the Peninsula!

Johnny W.

Yelp
Summary: Wide selection of affordable, tasty empanadas Details: * Extensive selection of empanadas, with fillings ranging from more classic flavors (beef, chicken) to more fusion ones (ham and cheese, eggs and bacon) * All fairly flavorful, though seasoning levels vary, with some (like the ham and cheese) noticeably saltier than others * Empanada crust is excellent: more doughy/bready than a laminated flaky, but baked to a very satisfying crunch/chew Accessibility: Can't comment on this as parking in the area is pretty horrendous, but when I explained my wheelchair situation, they were very willing to facilitate a drive-by curbside pickup after I'd ordered online

Channhu N.

Yelp
This place was a great little hole in the wall find! We came to this location for the bowling alley and happened to passed by this place so we decided to give it a try! Such a cute interior restaurant with minimal seating in a nice and quiet neighborhood. The only downside is that parking is hard to find. There are no parking lots and little street parking - you might end up parking in the nearby neighborhood. This place has a variety of different favors of empanadas. I've never seen such options like breakfast or tuna empanada. I had to try it all! My boyfriend got the breakfast and I got chorizo empanada ($4.75 each). We waited a few minutes for the owner to heat up the empanadas for us - so it comes out very fresh! The empanadas were warm with a flakey exterior. We liked it so much we ordered two more beef empanadas to go. If you are ordering to go you can order the bag of 4 frozen empanadas for $17 which makes each one a bit cheaper. We also got the cafe con leche ($3.50) - this is very good if you like strong coffee. It is basically black coffee with a layer of frothed milk on top. While we were munching on our empanadas the owner of the shop was telling us the origin of how he created this place. Turns out he's opening another shop in Napa for all the North Bay people! I definitely will come again to try the other empanada flavors and the sweets. Also, the owner was very friendly and welcoming!

Jojo G.

Yelp
Found this place as I was looking for a local place that serves a Cortado. Lucked out that they have some pretty tasty empanadas. Had it with the chimichurri sauce and it was incredible. Priori to that, I had my cortado with some of their alfajores and that definitely hit the spot. They sell frozen empanadas that you can take home and bake it yourself when you're in the mood for them. I recommend getting the chorizo one but they are all great. They also sell the chimichurri sauce in jars. I recently made some A5 Wagyu steak at home and had it with their chimichurri. It was phenomenal. Service is friendly and the place is quaint. I will definitely be back here.

Marvin P.

Yelp
Came here with a friend Hope in the wall place that's a sleeper for a snack! I can't recall where the owner was saying the food/coffee originates from, but I was excited and sold Honestly, can't go wrong with special flavored empanadas with a a sauce? The chimichurri sauce on every bite of the empanadas was a must Black coffee to chase it all down Scrumptious, but may need 3 to put a dent in your stomach Recommend. Enjoy!

Yelp
Entre to la casa de empanada - Cocina Milonga. Simply put, an empanada is like a turnover except you get more choices than just apple. At Cocina Milonga you can get sweet, savory, breakfast, or other part of the day empanada. Cute storefront located next to a Filipino Cupcake / Donut shop and Hometown Bowl. Not much parking in the residential section that's one block removed from busy El Camino. We went to the Salvation Army to drop off some donations and needed a quick lunch bite for the drive back home. A hand sized empanada fit the need - wifey had the Humita (corn, butternut squash, cheese - sweet) while I had the Beef (Beef, Onion, Raisins, Hard Boiled Egg - savory). Five inch baked crescents that took 15 minutes to bake and minutes to eat... Hits the spot for the road.

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
We passed by this place and the empanadas looked so good that we decided to get some. We tried both the chorizo and the mushroom empanadas. The filling was packed and there was a really nice balance in flavor. Service was also super quick to serve and heat them up. I would definitely come back to try more items including their sweet pastries and sipping chocolate!

Gary D.

Yelp
Service with a smile. Expansive menu, totally friendly and patient staff is happy to explain everything and anything available. Even have several vegan options so there is something for everyone. Try the pineapple empanada! They're all very good but the sweet empanadas are outstanding.

Ivo O.

Yelp
The empanadas way too good Service it's really great they treat you like family and always give good tips about the best empanadas I enjoy goin there to have my empanadas

Thanh L.

Yelp
We tried at least half of the empanada menu and all of them were delicious...literally EVERY. SINGLE. ONE! Meat, veggie, vegan, sweet...all of them with a buttery flaky, perfectly crispy outside and flavorful filling. Even my 5 & 7 yr old grubbed! Our faves were the Fugazetta and Humita, but even just chicken was yummy...add the chimichurri and they're at a whole 'nother level. The pasteles though?? That guava and dulce de leche?! OMG... We loved everything so much we ordered more as we were leaving and will probably be back tomorrow! Aside from the amazing food, the owner is extremely warm and welcoming. We learned so much about their story and humble beginnings, which was really motivating and just a feel good story. I love this place and you definitely will to!

Divya K.

Yelp
I was on my way to lunch nearby when I passed by this shop and I just felt like I needed to try it. This made no sense as I was on my way to get food already but I don't regret it. The empanadas came out fresh, hot, and crisp. The exterior was flaky and the inside were warm and gooey. I limited myself to 2 options, the chicken and the chorizo. The chicken had a great flavor but it's hard to beat the chorizo which also had great flavor but with cheese, which made it even better. I think empanadas are sometimes hit or miss bc sometimes I don't like how oily they can be so it was cool learning they can be baked as was done here (Argentinean style). The baking style kept all the goodness of the deep fried method but brought out more flakiness in the shell. I want to come back & try more flavors!

Edna G.

Yelp
We just so happen to pass by since we were next door. I could not help but pass by here because something was smelling savory good and our curiosity got us like that! We came inside just to check what they offered and of course, their prices. The place is more for pick up and stand up bar. It was not a big place. The young lady at the register welcomed us and was very helpful in answering our curious questions. I asked about the size of their empanadas due to the price. She brought out a full tray for us to see which she didn't have to. We were satisfied with what we saw. She even stated, these are full packed with ingredients as probably we looked skeptical. We decided to buy 4 for the price of $16 and it was well worth it. The empanadas was not all bread which we were very happy about. If my hubby was satisfied, that means to me it's double points for both of us. We tried the chorizo, spinach and fugazetta. All were very good. The fugazetta tastes like french onion soup if you can believe that?! Both my husband also ate the spinach and chorizo together, and this actually would be good if combined together!! We will have to try their beef and chicken empanadas later or their drinks. They do have vegan flavors and some deserts homemade. We will definitely be back! Thanks for the hospitality and this is a happy New Years review! [69/100]

Irene L.

Yelp
Wow so good!!! Stumbled upon Covina Milinga while walking around the area. Had the beef and fuggazeta empanada. Both were incredible flavorful!Really loved the savory fillings and flaky buttery pastry. Both disappeared quickly and we'll definitely be back to try different kinds. Management was friendly and the service was quick.

Maria M.

Yelp
I am obsessed with these Argentinian baked empanadas. They have a cute & colorful storefront. I almost missed it but they are right next to Binka Bites in SSF. Everything I have tried in this place does not disappoint. Sweet and savory options, vegan friendly what more can you ask for. Top it off with kick ass desserts like guava alfajores cookies, Pastel de Gloria which are puff pastries filled with guava & dulce de leche and flaky Palmeritas. The beef & chicken empanadas are always my go to but I've been loving the Roasted Vegetable, the Humita with corn, butternut squash and mozzarella & the Fugazetta with roasted onions, white cheddar & mozzarella. As if anything can't get any better you must get their Chimmichuri sauce. Be sure to get a bottle because you would love to have every bite of your empanada with this delicious sauce! This place is run by amazing folks who put love into their food. They also serve good coffee! You can buy frozen empanadas to enjoy anytime you have a craving! Yes it's that good!

Jenny O.

Yelp
How had I not known this place existed in SSF until recently? I love empanadas! I didn't have a sense of how big they would be so I only bought one as a snack but they're actually pretty small. Kind of wish they were bigger (or that I had ordered more). I wanted to eat it right away (since it was a snack) so they warmed it up for me but unfortunately it was still cold in the center. Still, I enjoyed the breakfast empanada I got. Good dough and filling. I guess the pro move would be to just go ahead and order a bunch and then reheat them yourself at home so I'll probably have to do that someday in the future and see if that moves it up a star for me (and try the other fillings!).

Quynh Nhu D.

Yelp
Can we talk about passion? So I went here on a whim since Binka Bite closed and I wanted to bring some snacks for my coworkers. I walk in and was greeted by a very nice young lady who was super friendly. I ordered a half dozen of a guava pastry and also the mate codido. While waiting she made my mate and proceed to teach me a lot of cool information about mate. Also let me safely sample a palmier, which was delicious. Will definitely be buying some next time. Per my colleague they love the pastry and it was super tasty so will definitely be coming back. My mate was made with a lot of care and it tasted great. She spent a lot of time explaining the different empanada and take into account the customer's dietary wishes. Really like this type of places where it's super friendly and the food is good. Will be getting empanadas here for next time with more update later :)

Sophia W.

Yelp
Oh my God !!!! This place is awesome . Device is great , very knowledgeable about teas, empanadas and coffee. Traditional place I love it Grab a box to go with some tea

Fancypants X.

Yelp
4.5 stars I have to actively stop myself from visiting Cocina Milonga multiple times per week. Pastries with sweet or savory fillings are one of my favorite food groups, & this Argentinian spot's got both in the form of empanadas & tarts. I've tried three empanadas ($4.50 each), but the one I've repurchased for myself most often is the Chicken which is bursting at the seams. There are chunks rather than the soft ground beef I prefer in their Beef empanada, & my top spots for Mushroom empanadas are already filled by other eateries. I've never tried it, but the Potato is especially popular with my friends & fam. What I lack in enthusiasm for their savories, I more than make up for in my loyalty to their Pasta Frola ($4.50), a sizable tart with guava jam, & to their Pastel de Gloria ($3.75), a puff pastry with both guava & dulce de leche. Also dangerously delicious -- a dulce de leche-filled horn called Cañoncitas ($3.75) & a Blueberry Frangipane Tart ($5.50) that also comes in other seasonal fruit flavors. All so good, I've given these sweets as edible gifts to share the goodness I've found. Closed Mondays & Tuesdays.

Marcia M.

Yelp
The best empanadas in the Bay area,i always buy empanadas for my coworkers. They have vegetarian and vegan flavor

Eunhye S.

Yelp
The empanadas here are VERY good IMHO. I tried the mushroom, fugazzetta, chicken, and the pastel de gloria. The filling:pastry ratio was on point (many places I've been is heavy on the pastry) so it was still tasty without additional condiments. My favorite of the three was the fugazzetta with the mushroom at a close second. The pastel de Gloria was very sweet but I had a cortado with it so the bitter coffee complimented it well. The pastry itself was buttery and delicious. The person who checked us out was very patient and helpful. You can see the kitchen (it's a small store) and the staff in the back were also very welcoming. I highly recommend making a pit stop for anyone traveling to and from SF for top notch food and service.

Marie L.

Yelp
Really tasty food and lots of options, there's something for everyone. I wish parking was a little easier.

Robert Ace G.

Yelp
Yummy empanada and super friendly staff, loved the vibe. Never went to an Argentinian bakery before :0 It costs more than 5 per empanada though, but that's probably just bc of area

Shai S.

Yelp
I loved the mushroom empanada and the husband liked the beef. Freshly baked when you order so you have to wait a bit. The alfajores were delicious too. The dulcet de Leche in the middle was not too sweet. I will definitely comeback and maybe get frozen ones for home

Paolo B.

Yelp
When it comes to savory treats, my favorite by far has to be empanadas with a side of chimichurri. Great news, Cocina Milonga has both! Let me preface that I wasn't even hungry, but anytime I see empanadas, I'm going to try them Walking by I peaked through the window, and saw a big menu sign that says, 'Empanadas.' Argentinian style empanadas is what you can expect here, so they are baked not fried. When you order, they warm the empanadas up for you, so they come toasted and piping hot! With so many options, I ended up with one beef and one spinach. The freshness of the ingredients really stood out. The beef flavor had some depth to it, while the spinach was gooey, creamy, and delicious. Pair that with some chimichurri, which brings a nice acidic element to each bite, left me with a smile on my face. Again, not even hungry, I decided for a third empanada, chorizo this time around. All were very delicious and unique in their own ways. Each empanada is $4.50. A side of chimichurri is $0.25, or a jar for $8.50. I liked the chimchurri so much that I left with a jar as well! I'll definitely be coming back to the rest of the menu! If you like baked empanadas, this is worth a stop!

Dawn B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious addition to South San Francisco. This spot is hidden on Alida way. It has over 10 different types of Argentinian empanadas made on-site. I love that you have multiple options to eat this delicious dish. You can eat them in, grab them to go, get them frozen, or even cold to be warmed later. While we'll definitely be back to dine in, I am sure we'll also be purchasing them cold to be warmed later for a future family gathering. While we love all of their options, we've been procuring the roasted vegetables, potato, fugazetta, spinach, chicken most often. Each one of these has a nice flaky crust, has tender or moist ingredients inside, and is well portioned. What I love about them as well is they have vegan, vegetarian, and meat based options so there is something for almost every dining patron. Oh and last, but certainly not least, purchase their chimichurri sauce for an awesome savory pairing.

Mary M.

Yelp
The most delicious empanadas and the friendliest staff!! I'm also very picky with lattes and LOVED this one! Definitely going to make this a regular spot.

Yelp
Take your tastebuds and tongue on a tantalizing tango that will truly leave your soul satisfied with these hand held delights. Before the dance let me drop a little fun fact alert! Milonga is an Argentinian ballroom dance that preceded to the tango in the early 20th century. Onward to this adventure, these handmade empanadas are perfectly golden with a delicious flaky crust on the outside that had me in anticipation of how it was going to taste inside. Well as soon I spread it open and dove into the middle my mouth was surely pleasured of how well their ingredient blended together. I took a slight look back and saw it still steamy so I went in to finish it off with my whole mouth kill shot. Everything I just described leads to one of the best empanadas I've ever had. And I paired it up with their hot chocolate drink. It was a true tasty twosome! The chocolate is no joke here, it's actually kept in a jar and I was also lucky enough to get a sample from the owner and he gave me the run down on other things I was so curious about. Which leads to on point service and an amazing first experience for me. They also have artisanal desserts to pair up with their Bombay cup of joe or hand held morsels. And that's my take on this tantalizing tango that was fully satisfied, Peace.

Yelp
What a wonderful find! We were in the neighborhood to get Hot Chicken sandwiches and stumbled across this gem as we looked for parking. I absolutely love empanadas and needed to try these as soon as we spotted the shop. They offer various Argentinian coffees, empanadas and sweet pastries. We ordered a number of empanadas - chorizo, beef, mushroom, spinach as well as 2 sweet pastries - pastel de gloria (pastry filled with guava and dulce de leche in puff pastry) and a canoncita (pastry filled with cream and dulce de leche). All were AMAZING! Our favorites were the beef and the spinach empanadas and the sweet pastries. The way the beef filling was flavored reminded me a bit of the zestiness of picadillo. It had wonderful spices (not in a hot spicy way) and each bite was so satisfying! We also took home a bag of their Rustico coffee beans which I will open as a treat in a future weekend when I feel like lounging around in my robe while sipping delicious coffee as the sun rises type of morning. The lady at the front of the shop is so very nice and helpful as well. We are so happy to have found this place and can't wait to order again SOON! Also - this place if off the beaten path, but it's next door to Binka Bites (mochi donuts/pastries anyone?) and Hometown Bowl (famous hot chicken sandwiches) so you can make this a destination visit and cross off all the yummy foods you have been meaning to try! Parking is available in the quiet nearby neighborhood just off El Camino Real.

Yelp
Another hidden gem in SSF. I was not at all aware that there is an Argentinian empanadas place in SSF. Am I glad that I walked in! Firstly, I was greeted by the owner, Raul. He was very friendly and welcoming. He helped me choose what to get given that they have a good selection. I opted for the beef, mushroom, and chorizo. All were flavorful, if a bit salty, and quite filling. I ate them with the complimentary chimichurri, which has homemade. The chimichurri paired well with the empanadas, and it should be good with any number of meats, especially steak. They sell a jar of it to savor at home. I also ordered the guava alfajor. That was good also. I look forward to trying some of their other empanadas and pastries during my next visits.

Yelp
An Argentinian empanada cafe!!! All the empanadas are made in house. I ordered and loved the fugazzeta, chorizo, ham &cheese, and beef empanadas. I am going back to try more. The cashier was super helpful in helping me choose what to start with. The store is small and quaint but nicely decorated and clean. Pastries come freshly baked from the owner's sister place in San Mateo. They are working on adding sandwiches de miga to their menu. Now that I found this place I am coming back.

Yelp
I didn't come here on purpose. Went to Binka Bites next door and was waiting so I went into Cocina Milonga. I tried the chicken, beef, and chorizo. My favorite is probably the chicken. The chicken is the best of the three. I had ordered frozen empanadas for later, and then also ordered 4 ready to eat empanadas. Though they were good, something was missing? I think if I had the chimichurri to go along with the empanadas, I would've enjoyed them more. Also, I'm not sure if this is actually true, but my ready to eat empanadas didn't taste as fresh... they tasted as if they were previously frozen, and then heated after I ordered. Service overall was great and the wait wasn't too bad since I was the only one there. They also take social distancing and safety during Covid-19 seriously. For the price, I got about 4-6 frozen empanadas to go and 4 ready to eat empanadas and paid about $40.

Yelp
The gentleman who served us was friendly, helpful, and generous. The empanadas flavours were diverse and delicious. Definitely get dessert and some the sipping chocolate as well!
