I’m so glad I stopped here!
I had fish and chips and a meat pie left for my main English dishes I wanted to try, and this place popped up.
I told the lady what I was looking for and she said she’d do the fish and chips and add what we meat pie I wanted. I asked for her suggestion and she said the minced meat and onion, and it sounded good to me.
When the food came out, it looked amazing. The breading on the fish was light and crispy, and the fish was flaky and delicious. The chips (fries for my fellow Americans) were thick cut and crispy. The meat pie was my favorite. The way the bake it in the dough, and the perfect texture offset by the flavorful filling was just fantastic. I also ordered their baby squid as a recommended appetizer and it was meh. Not worth the price. Just chewy and flavorless.
My main problem overall is the lack of seasoning. I think it’s a general English thing, but the food just doesn’t have seasoning on it. I was told later by a couple friends that you add your own salt and pepper to taste. I’m Hispanic and I’m used to the core 4 being in almost all dishes (aside from additional seasonings), onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. But the food was cooked to perfection and delicious (except the squid, not worth the cost).
Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for meat pies or fish and chips!
