Olio Roi

Visiting Olio ROI and talking to the gentleman who runs it - Franco Boeri - is part of a religious pilgrimage when you love extravirgin olive oil and also seek for somethiong new or deeper to know about this noble and unique product. Beside getting a view of their impressive mill and facilities, you will appreciate Franco's conversation, orientation and suggestions, as well as the preasant company of his family, if you are lucky enough to meet them. A super-beautiful experience we experience nearly every day.

We did stay in Santa Margherita Ligure - 2.5 hours away from here. We had this olive oil here one and also two years ago in a favorite restaurant of ours. Found out that the producer also runs a shop here in Badalucco (since we're from abroad, so we can't order it online). So we took the drive. 2.5 there and then back again. Just for the olive oil - and yes, it really is worth the drive. We've had so many different olive oils from so many countries. Before the Olive Oil "Aubocassa" from Roda (Rioja, Spain) was our favorite, at around 25 bucks a bottle (0.5 Litres). Until we've tried the Olio Roi! What an explosion of flavors. It's fresh, smooth and maybe a bit citrusy. Beautiful. Makes any kind of food better. Or just to dip some good bread in it. But goes well with Crudo di Mare, Fish or any pasta. It's really a local Olive Oil. Just from this valley around here. And it is the best we've ever had. And for 0.5 Liters it costs only 10 Euros a bottle here directly in the shop! What a bargain. We especially like the "Mosto" Olive Oil. We also bought a couple of preserved olives "Olive Taggiasche denocciolate asciutte" (dry, in a glass). Tried them at home later, and: As great as the oil! If we knew how incredibly good they taste, we would've bought a bunch of the 1.8kg glasses. But there will definitely be a next time. It's a cute little shop and run by very friendly staff/owners. Our Bulldog was welcome in here too. For us THE best Olive Oil. Worth a (long) drive.

Wonderful olive oil, beautiful place but bad sales experience this year!) Stopped by to buy two 5 liter tins of their top grade olive oil. The salesman in their little onsite shop, a small thin dark haired man wo appeared to be in his mid thirties, told us VERY apologetically that the credit card machine "was not working and only CASH was possible" to purchase. We rooted in our wallet but fell short of the 165.00 Euro's he wrote down on a slip of paper as the cost. I remember thinking that it seemed expensive. We left and stopped at an ATM to pull out the needed cash. . When we returned, store was closed but after ringing the bell a young gentleman showed up rang up the sale and presented us with a now miraculously working credit card machine and sold us the same two cans on our credit card for .....110.00 Euro's. We have stopped here for years on our annual visit to Italy and have even taken the tour of their oil production, so this experience was a real downer. We will see where we go next year.

Fantastic olive oil sold from a small shop next to the oil mill which also offers other olive based products. Products typically get a discount on the prices advertised in the shop.

Best olive oil in the world. I've been here every year since I went to ROI's olive oil school in 2011. I have a Certificate that says: To see, is to understand.

A family company from 1900. With their own production and a shop. A very good olive oil from that area. Well recommended 👍😀
