Hot bar lunches that are delicious, priced fairly, and ready to go. The line is long but moves fast at peak lunchtime. Portions are great and there is a whole smorgasbord of sides to choose from. Menu changes daily. It's a strange vibe having lunch in what feels like a package and grocery store but there is a great selection of wine and beer there. They bus the tables and have good service as they are staffed for the crazy rush of customers that know what's up so be sure to leave a tip even though there isn't full table service.

We came for brunch and while we had a delicious breakfast we could smell the lunch cooking... it smelled so good too! They have Delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner cooked fresh on-site. This is a restaurant/ mini supermarket/ butcher /and wine cellar - with a very large selection of wine. You can dine in or Cafe style on the sidewalk or take your food to go. Staff is friendly and very helpful.

Ate here for the first time on Wednesday march 13th. Came in around 1:15 so it wasn’t crazy full. I ordered the fried chicken breast with green beans and mac and cheese as a side. Food was pretty good although my chicken breast needed more seasoning. My best friend’s fish was very well seasoned. I like the atmosphere here and seating is available outside or inside. Very rude employee working there however. Light skinned guy wearing a cap and busing tables did not want to be at work. He was passing by and I decided to ask him how the slices of cake tasted. He did not stop walking and I had to say excuse me like three times before he finally stopped, glanced back, mad as heck, and gave me the nastiest look and, said in a smart tone, “ of course it is” . Then he just walked off. Totally unacceptable behavior and uncalled for. I ended up not buying any cake because of his nasty attitude and left.

First visit and learned this establishment is a local spot for homestyle cooking and/or wine bar. 🍷 So many options to choose from - casseroles, cold and hot bar. Make it an outing and meet with friends for lunch or an early happy hour. You may also pick up groceries here to take home. We visited on a weekday midday for lunch around 1:30pm and the selections were half gone. There was a sign that sandwiches were not currently available. Nonetheless, there are so many other options to choose from. We enjoyed our selection of 1) chicken marsala with sides and 2) a veggie plate. Surprisingly, everything was tasty. I highly recommend going with the jalapeño cornbread with your meal. Even if you choose not to eat from the hot bar, there are prepared salad options among other things as well. Desserts and beverages are also available. I look forward to returning and possibly trying the breakfast buffet on Saturday from 7-10am. In addition to visiting for the wine tastings on Thursdays. 🍷 Bon Appetite

This spot is my go-to for comfort food at lunchtime. If you’re a fan of classic Meat + 2 or three homemade sides, it doesn’t get much better. Today’s plate: meatloaf, creamed corn, sweet potato casserole, a fluffy roll, and coconut pie—every bite was heavenly. Parking can be a bit tricky during lunch rush, but trust me, it’s worth the effort.

This is a very popular locally owned place for lunch for workers from the Downtown area and Cloverdale. Parking is tight in this area so get there around 11:30 if you want to get a spot near the building. The restaurant offers a meat and three selection from a cafeteria-like service line as well as hot and cold sandwiches. There are usually about 4 or 5 meat selections to choose from and at least a dozen sides, all large, homemade and very, very good. The line moves quickly and the service is friendly. The sandwiches are very good also, and they have a wide assortment of baked goods from a nearby bakery. The restaurant has a lot of space and a great atmosphere. The tables are arranged among crates of wine. It's a wonderful place for lunch. Also Saturday breakfast is fabulous. I wish they had breakfast available every day!

This spot surprised me. Got their meat-and-three special with grilled chicken, mac and cheese, and collard greens. Chicken was juicy, mac was cheesy without being greasy, and the greens had that deep Southern flavor (like someone’s grandma made them). The place feels like a mix between a market and a café — casual but homey. Cashier was super sweet and even recommended a local wine. Restroom was basic but clean, no complaints. Just real solid, unfussy food.

Great food! We had the fried catfish and it was cooked perfectly. We will be back.

Buffet or order at kiosk. Country cooking. So many delicious sides to choose from. So fast and service is very friendly. Jalapeño cornbread is so good.

Meat and 3 like you'd find in a small town in the south, but with the bonus of a cute market and wine shop built in. Unique combinations. Porkchops were solid and jalapeño cornbread was great. Pretty flavorful food to be prepared in such large batches. Service to the extent that their is service as a self serve spot was good as well. Only drawbacks are portions were sort of small for the price/market and not a fan of places that are full self service but prompts for 20% iPad tips. Would go back when in town. Taste: 8.5 Service: 8 Vibes: 7 Value: 6.5

Quick and delicious! The fried catfish was good and the broccoli was fresh. Jalapeño cornbread was also quite good. The restaurant also doubles as a liquor store! Great neighborhood spot for lunch.

Filet & Vine offers a nostalgic atmosphere stocked with meats and beverages in addition to a bustling buffet line. Today was my first visit in many years so I was really looking forward to it. I also took a coworker for her birthday today. The one thing she wanted was the squash casserole, but it was way too salty. The baked Mahi-Mahi was dry and bland. I really wanted to like it more than I did. I would probably try it again. Everyone deserves a second chance.

My coworker suggested this place to me about two years ago when I started my current job. I've never been disappointed with a meal or the service. On this visit, I had the fried pork chops, broccoli casserole, greens with a roll. My entrée and sides were perfectly seasoned. The people at the steam table were all very nice and courteous. There is a young lady at the register who has the sweetest voice. Filet and Vine is a restaurant and meat market all in one. It reminds me of the mom-and-pop establishments from the 50's and 60's. If I lived closer to Montgomery, I would purchase some freshly cut meat at the meat counter. Filet and Vine is perfect for a good home cooked meal and if you want to pick up some fresh ingredients to prepare dinner, you can do that too!

Stopped by for lunch on the way back to NC. You need to stop here. Cafeteria style plating, everything.is.delicious. Seriously, I wish I could take them home. The service was awesome. Everyone was southern hustle friendly. They were hopping at 11am on a Wednesday. But nothing suffered. Great selection of unique beer and wine too.

Great food, great service, no ambiance. This is a small buffet in a deli. Quality of the offerings is excellent.

Reviews said best fried chicken, we were served a fried boneless chicken tenders, smaller than the cornbread. They were ok. We also got the pulled pork, wild rice, Lima beans, mac n cheese, and sweet tea. That is what earned the 4 stars. Cute store, friendly staff, and the deserts looked great. Would definitely come back, just not for the chicken. The fried pork chop and ribs looked amazing.

Hot bar food selection is awesome!!! On any weekday, there are about 5 different meats, numerous vegetables and casseroles, cornbread muffins (plain or Mexican), delicious tea or soft drinks. The noon hour is busy, busy, so parking is hard to find. Kitchen closes around 2 or 3:00 pm. The store, meat market and wine shop is open much later.

I got the standard meat and three for my first time experiencing a meat and three buffet. There wasn't exactly instructions on how to order but I listened to those ahead of me to figure out when greeted in line you said your meat and if you were eating in or taking out. The sides are listed on a board before you order but if you're like me they all went out the window when you saw the food. The servers were great while I looked over the options and then picked. The fried chicken was perfection, the mac and cheese was great after adding a little more salt & pepper, the sweet potato casserole was super sweet but fantastic, the corn soufflé was good enough but I'd probably switch out for a different side in the future. The star of the show was the jalapeño cornbread. I'd eat those all day every day if possible. It was perfect spice level. The sweet tea here was also good. Definitely southern sweet but not too overpowering.

Looking for a meat and three or more, Filet and Vine is the best in town. Always the best food! Hot and tasty!

Picked up several plates Togo for myself and my parents. Everyone ate til we were stuffed. Every meal I have had from Dirk's has been delicious. In general, it's a meat and two plate, but I can't control my hunger and usually order one more side item. Go a little bit early if you want to get a good park!

I wasn't a big soup eater until I started getting the soup. It's a different surprise every day. I highly recommend it

Went on a date here for lunch - you have to wait in line because it's a cafe and they're really busying during lunch hours. everything on this plate was delicious. In addition - the sweet tea was amazing and the staff incredibly friendly

The food is always great. The service is normally pretty fast! They have the best potatoes with cheese.

While visiting family in Montgomery, we had lunch at Filet and Vine. Though I'm not always thrilled with getting my meal from a serving line, this was a departure. I had a portion of grilled fish which was large enough that I took home a piece large enough for a sandwich the next day, along with greens and broccoli. I was thrilled to see several actual vegetables on the sides menu. My husband had a grilled pork chop which he thought was very good, along with mashed potatoes and green beans which were fine. His choice of caramel cake for dessert was outstanding . Caramel icing is very hard to get right. If I could give the meals a 4.5 I would. We would choose Filet and Vine any time we are in Montgomery.

This is one of my favorite places to eat lunch or breakfast on Saturdays, and buy meats, seasonings, and sides. They have arguably the best beer and wine selections in Montgomery. There staff is very helpful especially in the wine categories. It's a cool locals place in Old Cloverdale.

Filet and Vine is a diamond in the rough! I've been here numerous times this summer and I'll surely miss it as I venture my way back home to Colorado. Filet and Vine is essentially a pretty awesome deli/bakery/liquor store/winery/southern buffet. Yes, all of those things in one. More often then not I end up ordering the bahn mi because let's be honest, it's freakin amazing. Essentially it's a grilled pork sandwich with a delicious slaw, pickle, and aoli that bring it all together. The ingredients are like a party in your mouth. It's so good I've found myself dreaming about it. I've also tried the Ruben which was good but it definitely wasn't the bahn mi. While you wait for your food your sure to be mesmerized by the assortment of beers, wines, and baked goods. I never got around to trying out the hot line but it features tasty looking southern favorites like fried chicken, cat fish, ribs, mac, cobblers, potatoes, etc. You should note that they usually close at 7 pm and they are closed on Sunday's. If you find yourself in the area and your looking for a delicious bite to eat, stop by, JUST DO IT!

We were in Montgomery for a training at the Hospital, and needed a close/quick place to eat. Most folks were going to fast food restaurants, but a colleague consulted a friend from the area who suggested Filet and Vine! We arrived at the peak of lunchtime, thankfully found a close parking spot, and wandered in. This place was hugeeee!!! And the hot bar options were amazing with so many options! The salad bar (from what I saw) was also quite extensive. These sorts of places are great for large groups, to ensure everyone can find something to eat. My steak was excellent, as was the squash casserole. I got a piece of Reese's cake for dessert, but couldn't hardly eat it because it was so rich, and I was so fill from the meal! I've bookmarked this place in case I'm ever back in Montgomery.... and so should you!

Found this by accident. Saw it was packed Friday lunch. Really good hot bar with lots of unique beverages. Butcher meats a bit pricey but they looked exceptional. Will visit again next time I'm in town.

I was in this area earlier today after leaving an interview and I really wanted to eat some healthier options. So I came across this place searching on yelp and decided to try it out. They have so many options to choose from! They have burgers, philly cheese steaks, soup and salad bar and aa hot bar with meat snd 3 options! This place also sells bottled wine, beers and a few small grocery items. I ordered the Chicken Piccata with marinara sauce, broccoli with cheese snd squash casserole. Overall my meal wasn't bad, it was just ok. I was so hungry I ate every bit of my food, lol. I'm trying to stick to a low carb diet, but I will definitely try something with more carbs next time!! A little noisy by the counter where people are ordering food, but in small sit down area was a little quieter.

The food is really amazing !! It's a cute little shop, warm & inviting. . I'll definitely be back again (likely on Fridays bc the Swai Fish) bc it was THAT GOOD !! 10/10 would recommend

Best place if you want some good southern food! Very nice staff. Huge beer selection, meat market and sweats.

Very busy Meat and three restaurant with a market. You can dine in or take out . A variety of options but my favorite option is caramel or chocolate cake which are divine.

The food here was amaaaaazing and I enjoyed everything on my plate. Now let's talk service. THIS PLACE had the kind of service I was expecting coming to "the south." Our group had been fortunate enough to be proven wrong for most of our trip. Until we ended up here. Myself, two other Black folks and another PoC member of our party were the only PoC eating there the day we went. So I guess you could say it came as no surprise to me that after we ordered, the white woman who was politely checking in with every table seemed to skip over us MULTIPLE times. I'm pretty sure that if it wasn't the kind of place where you get your food cafeteria-style, we would have never been served. To solidify our "suspicions of racism," we had the wonderful opportunity of watching Jeff Sessions walk into the restaurant and be treated like a King. It gave me a much better understanding of the "preferred clientele" here. All in all, if you're looking for some good food with a healthy dose of racism, check this place out. But you can most likely find some better, not racist, soul/southern food in the area.

Great little local shop with a rotating daily menu and a wide variety of selections to choose from. Not everything is perfect, but it's just good home style food that'll make you smile. The service is fast, the cleanup is quick and everyone is friendly. Worth the visit if you're visiting

This is a great meat and three restaurant. You pick-up your food from a cafeteria-style line that moves very fast, sometimes with the employees pushing you to make decisions too quickly. On my most recent visit, I got a boneless fried chicken breast, mac and cheese, green beans, and cornbread. The Mac and cheese and cornbread were excellent, but the green beans weren't great. The chicken was moist and tasty but they've definitely changed their provider of chickens in the past few years and the serving size was smaller. The restaurant also has a wine and beer shop with a wide-ranging selection. My major complaint about this place is the price. It's an expensive lunch option, especially for Alabama.

Filet and vine has a great friendly atmosphere and good fast food from the bar. They have generous portions as well.

Still the best place for lunch for me when I'm passing through Montogomery. First review was 5 years ago and still the best option. Headed there today. Again, don't take my word for it try it out for yourself.

Never disappoints! Service is pretty fast haven't had a dish I didn't like yet. They also have a large large selection of wine for purchase by the bottle and a very helpful staff to help you choose.

Absolute smash hit, delicious. Down home, real deal. Everything is delicious. It was sooo good, we had lunch there, and then got some more food to go to snack on later. Simply mouthwatering. And the service was great too, real friendly here. Terrific beer and wine selection. If you don't like this place, there is something wrong with you.

Great place! I used to come here all the time when I attended ASU! They have a great breakfast. Came here for lunch and it was great. They make great sandwiches and have a lovely salad bar. They also have a hot bar with lots of southern staples.

It's a meat and three with a grocery store and bear and wine shop. Everything I've had has been good , but Chicken Marsala was divine! You'll see bigwigs from the state capital, news media folks and US Senators here. They know what is good. Prices aren't bad either.

I tried this restaurant based on the reviews and am SO glad I did. There was a long, but quick moving line that maneuvered a cafeteria-style setup. I had a fried PTK chop and REAL mashed potatoes and gravy. The servings are generous and the food is delicious. Don't be intimidated by all of the people... they move them through quickly and it is well worth the few minutes wait.

Came here w high expectations! Parked, arrived and stood in line to eat. The staff was very nice. We decided on a bahn mi. Ummmm, I have to be honest it was a over vinegarry mess. The pork was okay, and the bread okay too but nothing else in the sandwich seemed like a bahn mi to me and I have eaten plenty. The onion rings were okay, corn bread nice, and the Mac and cheese was pretty good. All and all, not amazing.

Great wine selection with price points under $20 and over $100 per bottle. Knowledgable staff who are willing to find what you're after. Co-located with a deli with pre-pared and made to order foods, fresh and frozen. If it's imported beer you're after, they have that too. Stop by and check it out.

Great place to grab a hot plate of food. I got mine to go but there were plenty of people dining in. Many choices available. It has a market and wine shoppe too so I will be back to check that out.

Holy crap. The beer selection!! So massive and great and mainly local brews... like omg I wanted to try all their beers!! Then the food line. Some yummy looking good ole home cooking southern foods. Ok so the meatloaf. Holy smack licking tasting delicious yummy moist and just AAAAHHHMAZING! Like so good I went back a few times for it again and again. The fried chicken was a little underwhelming but so good and the meatloaf just dominated it! Then the mashed potatoes and cheesy potatoes were so good too. But I am such a sucker for Mac and cheese that it was for sure the best side. Wrap that up with some sweet potato casserole and it makes for an amazing great meal!

Great spot to grab some lunch. It's reasonably priced and even during the rush hour, we received our order pretty quick. We didn't get a chance to try their hot bar but will try that the next time we're in town.

Lovely place to eat in Old Cloverdale district. The market place and buffet style area is really cool. Can also order a lot of variety from southern style cooking to typical lunch pick me ups. Staff was great as well. Overall great experience!!

I had had a long day of exploring Montgomery and I wanted to eat something delicious in bed in my hotel while watching terrible television. So I stopped by Filet & Vine. Filet & Vine is a wine/beer market and deli/sandwich shop. I grabbed some chicken salad, some crackers, a slice of cake, a chilled bottle of wine. Boy, did that hit the spot after a day of wandering around downtown Montgomery in that heat! Perfect ending to the day!

Best game in town for food. Breakfast is second to none (saturdays only for now). Quick and easy. With a super nice staff.
