Betty Rose's Little Brisket

Terrible. I had the 2 meat combo, brisket and chicken with beans and macaroni salad as the side. First of all very small amount of food for a $20+ meal. Second the brisket was dry and I have to wonder if they even know how to smoke it cause it didn’t have that flavor. The macaroni salad is the blander thing I’ve ever tasted, boiling the pasta in water with salt should’ve given better flavor than that. The beans were salty and taste like it had way too much black pepper added. The chicken was ok but again it wasn’t much, like 5 little bits, I’ve seen kids meals with more meat than that

Went here for a birthday lunch. The place wasn’t busy, but it took a while to get the order out. It was worth the wait! The meat is so tasty. Even the burger was top notch. I highly recommend the brisket - of course. We had homemade peach cobbler for desert. Overall, very good experience. Give it a try.

Staying at the Holiday Inn, so on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, I stopped in for dinner. I’ll be honest, when I arrived the place was empty. My waitress and dinner were perfect! Great service and food was worth the price and I will return when back in town. I wish I knew my waitress name, she was great and food was excellent! I highly recommend this BBQ!

We had Betty Rose’s cater for dinner during our company move this past weekend where we had around 110 people and everything was excellent. The food was amazing and enjoyed by everyone. We truly appreciate the quality of service and will definitely use Betty Rose’s again. Highly recommend them for any large event or company gathering!

this is a new place I think, they’re very friendly and kind and hard-working folks. They just don’t have enough team members to service everybody quickly. We need to keep going there and Eating until they get enough folks in there for faster service because it is the best brisket and ribs I’ve had in a long time. Fall off the bone ribs and the brisket was moist and tender. they Comped our meal because of the speed at which they got our food to us. I felt That was not right because as long as we waited, it was worth the wait.

Terrible experience. The brisket came out dry, and when they replaced it with a “moist” cut, it had no flavor at all. No smoke, no seasoning, nothing. Easily one of the worst BBQ meals I’ve had. Definitely not coming back.

This is a great spot for BBQ; casual atmosphere with welcoming and friendly service. The ribs were outstanding; meat falls off the bone. Brisket is good but could be a little more tender. The sides were good, and the drink sizes were enormous. I will go back next time I'm in Abilene.

Man the fatty brisket here is on point! I stopped in to grab some BBQ since I'm eating Carnivore currently and their fatty brisket was so moist and amazing. Highly recommend this place for good Texas BBQ. Service was great too and free wifi!

Another great experience and meal at Betty Rose's Little Brisket. The brisket was perfectly seasoned and juicy. All our other menu items were also on point. Our server was attentive and kept the sweet tea cups filled. Dining room was spotless and inviting. This place is great for groups and has ample parking. They even cater for events!

Was on this side of town to renew my drivers license and stopped in here to grab a quick pulled pork sammich, only found it because I was originally going to the Heffs Burgers next door which is undergoing some sort of change. Betty Rose's is good stuff, first time at this location, I would say they are consistent with their food, it's as good as the one on the south side. Very clean, pulled pork with coleslaw and onion rings hit the spot. And my Wawa's very nice and very quick and attentive. Thumbs up!

Locations are now on E. Lake Road on the north side and on Catclaw Dr. on the southside. I haven't visited the Catclaw location but still not impressed with the E. Lake Rd. location.

I really enjoy their food. First time ordering delivery. Was disappointed that they did not put any sauce , drink condiments and utensils in the bag. I diid ask for lemon and sweet n low. Thought it was a given they would put sauce, straw and utensils in the bag. Will be back! Southside on catcall location.

ordered a two meat sandwich. received two brisket sandwiches. the brisket has no flavor, and the sauce is no better. looking for a place better than sharon's but this place makes sharon's great. first and last time glad I didn't try anything else.

During my travels I'd like to just go into places and see what the food is alike and this place did not disappoint me as I went there almost everyday it's almost every d*** day. Let me tell you about Betty rose this place is awesome Hometown barbecue joint and they're doing the things right brisket barbecue ribs the potato salad the potatoes which are just amazing on the peach cobbler the Berry Cobb where everything is just so good you will not be disappointed once you get here trust me I went every day that I was in Abilene Texas cause it was right around the corner from the hotel I couldn't get enough of the Potatoes smoke spots which were amazing and it's just potatoes with mushrooms and onions and they put it in the brisket season and just rose them off with a bunch of butter ha I think I gained about 20 pounds but it will well worth it. Make sure you get out and give them a try excellent excellent food

Visiting with family we thought BBQ would be a good choice to share a meal. I always taste meat first without sauce. Both brisket and pork ribs were dry and no smokey flavor. It was a Tuesday at noon and only customers at three tables. Service was good but food was forgettable.

Ordered a 3 meat combo..pork, ham, and brisket. Pork was good.. ham was ok, and brisket was a little dry. Overall, everything was ok but nothing that really stood out. Disappointed for a Texas bbq joint.

We ate here Sunday, June 9. The waitstaff was inattentive at best. We were ignored and our orders were not correct. The water or ice tasted like it had chemicals in it. The food was tasteless and the quantity small especially for what they are charging. The air conditioning was either broken or not on as it was cooler outside than in. This is sad to see as we have enjoyed eating here in the past.

Service was great guy treated us great food was really good definitely stoping here again the guy even gave us 2 free peach cobblers overall really amazing service and great food

Cute restaurant with nice staff. The food however was mediocre at best. We had brisket sandwiches (2 sliced and 1 chopped). Good portions of meat on all. However the brisket was VERY dry. We kind of wondered if it was brisket or smoked beef roast. We had to add lots for sauce just not to choke on the dry cuts. I hope they figure out how to properly smoke a brisket and keep the moisture soon.

My wife pick me up a barbeque sandwich. First mistake. Even though it had two small containers of barbeque sauce. All it did was run all over the place. The meat was so dry, I actually choked on it while trying to swallowing it. She payed $ 11 dollars for it and that too much just for a barbeque sandwich. The bun wall all greesy and matched. They really suck !!! The old Betty roses on South 7th was wonderful. They cared enough to ask if you wanted some barbeque sauce poured over the meat before chopping it up. This place doesn't care about the customers. They just want your money and for you to go away. They think their barbeque is the best in town Lol. It's not. Bye bye Betty. Won't be back !!!

I've eaten here a few times, and every time it's incredibly okay. The sides are really good. The meats are okay. The brisket is mostly flavorless and the barbecue sauce is terrible. The service was great. It falls under the "if someone wants to go eat there, I'll go, but I'm never gonna go on my own" category.

Food was amazing! Quantity of food could use some improvement . The service was kind and friendly but when you ask about if an order has a good quantity of meat and get two slivers... they might need to get their glasses checked..

I am from out of town and every time I come to Abilene this is a stop for sure. I have not had anything bad from this restaurant from chicken to beef. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Good ribs and they had no problem with my request for well-done okra. I like it crispy! Good tea. There was a crowd there on my first visit but the staff wasn't overwhelmed.

My coworkers suggested this spot! Man I'm glad they did! I have been wanting some true Texan barbecue! This was it meat wise. First, The hickory smoked aroma hit you at the door! It was not too crowded as I finally decided what I wanted at the end of the night. It was a bit of a wait, but all I have been hearing about this spot I was willing to wait! Worth it!!. Bless the server. She was a solo waitress for the entire restaurant. Not sure what prompt it, but Crystal worked that entire building with a smile on her face!!! So kudos to her! The cooks apologized for the wait time. But I watched sports while waiting so I didn't think of it too much. I over indulged in the 3 meat combo. I had Ribs, smoked Chicken, and Brisket with Slaw and jalapeño cream corn. The meat was to die for! It was cooked to perfection. The brisket had just the right amount of char. The Rib meat was falling off the bone. The sides... eh not so much. The slaw tasted a bit dated. It was sweet and mayo based so I was totally okay with that, but the actual texture and taste was probably not the freshest. The corn was pretty tasty. It was no smoke with jalapeño peppers. The jalapeño cornbread was hard as a brick, I'm not sure if that the norm. Had to submerge it in some sides sauce to soften up! (Old school trick lol)! I had peach cobbler for here/to go. Heavy crust just like I requested and like it! But not the type of crust flavor I like. The vanilla ice cream saved the day with it. All in all Great customer service (thanks again Crystal!) and overall good food!

I was staying at one of the hotels next door and it was during a crazy thunderstorm. I needed some food and went to the closest place. Being in Texas I figured I couldn't go wrong with BBQ but sadly this seems like one of the weakest places to get it. The service was good but the food was below average. It wasn't nasty or anything but it wasn't good. I had a two meat combo with brisket and pulled pork. I got fries and jalapeno cream corn for my sides. Both meats were blah, the fries not good and the corn was probably the best thing of the meal. The cornbread that came with my plate was stale.

I had extremely high hopes, I always have brisket when I travel to Texas. I have found they do it best. Not the case with Betty Roses Little Brisket. The server was extremely apologetic but it's not her fault. The brisket was so dry it just crumbled. Not sure how old it was before they reheated it, but I can assure you it was not fresh. The sausage was passable, beans were bland, and the corn was great. I look forward to my next trip to Texas to get this taste out of my mouth.

Only giving it one star because the attendant at the drive thru was very friendly and helpful. The food however was TERRIBLE . I had the 4 piece chicken strip for lunch, and I substituted the fries for potato salad. I was hoping to get either the 2 or 3 meat combo, $15.99 and $16.99 respectively (pricey in my opinion) so I settled for the almost $10 chicken strip. The chicken strips were salty, dry, hard and slightly burnt. The potato salad wasn't good either. The cornbread was dry as a bone. I should have taken my money to Raising Cane's- I'd have definitely gotten my money's worth. I doubt I'll get a meal here again.

service was good place was nice would be a very nice place however the bbq was absolutely horrible ribs seemed like they were 2 days old and re heated every day and brisket was mediocre few sides were ok this place won't make it long

Stopped here on my way home to Greenville after 22 days at work. Had the stuffed baked potato and a Shiner Beer. The food was hot and it was good. It is down past Wal-Mart and behind Wing Stop. It is worth the effort to stop in. The team is friendly and willing to suggest items. The facility is great. Second visit here was as good or better than the first. Give them a try you will like this place. Came here with my wife from the Quinlan area. The team treated her very well. Food was great and we stayed an hour to get off the road for a bit. Friendly bunch of folks here. Make the effort and give them a try.

We visited Betty Rose's for our first time. The food in my opinion wasn't the greatest. The potato salad was whipped instead of chunky like a real salad is. Didn't taste good to me. The meat was really dry , all in all was a terrible experience of BBQ. A real disgrace because it cost more than any other place we went to and had delicious meals.

This place is terrible.I had just got back to Texas after being up north working and was craving bbq. For 21$ I got the 3 meat plate which will now be referred to as the let's go Brandon plate.I had got bbq in Iowa which they are not famous for and it was bad this place is comparable.I think the smoker outside is a prop to get you in they have to be cooking this dried out dumpster fire in an oven.I can't wait to get back home to south Texas where bbq is still bbq.Let's Go Betty Roses BBQ!

Absolutely the most dried out brisket in West Texas. The ice tea container hadn't been cleaned. Mold in the tea. Have they changed ownership? It wasn't like this a few years ago.

We always buy potato salad from Betty Rose, it's delicious and already made fresh. My review today is to point out excellent service at the location. We use the drive thru cause it's so convenient with the call in ordering. They are friendly and quick!

We used to love the catfish on Friday nights at Betty Roses. The last few times we ordered it, it was so tough we could not and did not eat it. We will find a new catfish place!

This restaurant was a disappointment. Owners who do business without regard for for the health of their customers and the public should be reported to the Department of Health. Employees/Management working behind the counter preparing food for their customers were NOT wearing masks! The majority of their customers were! Hellooooo! The owners/employees must not value their clientele much... The worst part was the brisket was tough and lacking flavor. If a BBQ restaurant can't get brisket right, they are in the wrong business - and we chose the wrong restaurant.

So, we had a catered meal from BR's and I was impressed. Dry brisket is so easy to make, but that was not the case. Brisket was very moist and the sausage was plenty juicy. I've always liked their sauce. Potato salad and beans were very good. A good experience in a town that has a lot of mediocre BBQ. The only problem? None of their great banana pudding! I'll speak to my boss about that next time. If your out around 351, give them a shot.

Needed something to fill my empty tummy. A native to Abilene recommended coming here. I got the 3 meat platter. It wasn't bad for the price. The pulled pork was good and saucy with some slight heat. The brisket was ok. The jalapeño cheddar sausage had more of a kick than the ones I have had in Missouri. Not that I minded! I tried the jalapeño creamed corn. Very interesting and quite tasty with a hint of heat.

Oh my snap, I don't know what's happened but this little place has gone down hill in the last four years since I last stalked it in college. The meat was horribly fatty and all the sides tasted bland. Was very disappointed. :( Plus, the place looked a little run down, too. Very sad guys...very sad.

Food is usually great. This time,,, food was old and dried up. Staff attitude was poor and half of order WRONG! Maybe go across town fir decent BBQ.

Best Lil brisket in west Texas. I use to eat here all the time back in my college days. it was, oh so mouth watering from the times I remember. I would take my family and friends that visited me here all the time. The food melted in your mouth. The food was so good you could not get down your throat quick enough. I usually went with a beef or chicken sandwich. with green beans and cole slaw. They had great desserts as well so I made sure to save room. Enjoy this great Texas taste when visiting Abilene.

Great burger and fries! Go ahead and up grade to the cheesy jalapeño bun. The burger is mixed with brisket and it stays together as you eat! Super good! Staff was extremely nice and the restaurant was very clean!

Was in Abilene for work and looking for BBQ. Stumbled upon this place and parking lot was full. Normally good sign but certainly not 50% capacity. Place was 95% full. Food was tender but hardly no flavor. No one behind counter serving was wearing a mask. Odd during pandemic. Manager was chewing something while hovering over food. Ordered 3 meat combo. 2 briskets and one rib. At check out time I was charged an extra $2 for extra brisket. Strange if it was extra where was my 3rd meat? Was told due to price of brisket. Most places would just add that to cost of plate. I was already charged extra for 3 meats. Manager was next to our table talking to 3 women one of whom he knew which I'm sure made the other two uncomfortable as long as he was there. Rude I thought. Won't eat there again due to disregard for public health recommendations and no flavor meat. Sweet tea was good.

The staff at the South side location have excellent customer service skills! Everyone is courteous & friendly. It's such a warm welcoming atmosphere! The food is delicious! Betty Rose's is my fav place in town!

This place is horrendous the brisket was dry and not even sure that's what it was could have been roadkilled raccoon the sausage was the same.Had some mess they called macaroni salad and mashed potatoes they called potato salad. I had a feeling eating even half was a bad idea but I had spent twenty on a plate and was hungry. Bad idea gave me the screaming squirt's this place had got to be run by meth heads I will be calling the health department as I now have food poisoning!!

Let me start off by saying this is my first review ever. I don't take the time to write them. However if you are considering this restaurant I would keep going. We will Not be back. Food was awful we couldn't even eat it. Server was even worse. Would not recommend!!!

I've only gotten the pork sandwich with slaw, but it was very good. It had braised ends, and not just mushy meat. Hard to find with pork sometimes! Also, the employees are very helpful and nice.....I appreciate that! Once I try more items I'll update my review!

Great restaurant with an incredible staff. They fed the entire baseball team and our families. Terrific food!

This was a surprise, nothing fancy. Pick nick tables for seating. But I tell you what. Thus was by far one if the best BBQ places I have eaten at. The brisket was very moist and flavorful. Ribs were very good. The sides were all hot or cold . Excellent . Portions are very fair, to the point if being absurd. Gary

Hey BR: if you think I'm ever going to come back when you charge those prices for that food, you're crazy. Food is ok, sides are fine, but prices are far too high. Too many other BBQ places in town to pay this much.

Amazing food and service!!! We found a gem! Super clean and fast! We are from out of town and got super lucky with this find! Will be back! Had the 2 meat combo with turkey and pulled pork! They both are wonderful and pulled pork is amazing! Husband had sausage, brisket and ribs. No disappointments there! The seasoned potatoes are the bomb!!! A++++++!!!!

Unexpectedly ended up in Abilene for a short night and found this spot via word of mouth at the hotel. SO glad we did. Excellent, hot food with lots of side options. Had the pintos (nicely seasoned), potato salad (mustard based), and macaroni salad (yum!). Also ordered the pulled pork - so delicious! At the table we shared fried pickles (so crispy!!!) and onion rings (a little thicker than I like, but batter was good). I would recommend this spot for anyone in Abilene looking for a decently priced, pretty quick, good meal! (Wish I had taken pics!)

But even the same restaurant anymore. None of the food was like it was before. Not impressed and none of the staff were masked or any ordered COVID procedures were in place. Sat night and the place was dead. Good bbq places are never dead.

The brisket was a bit dry and too smoky for my taste. The bun wasn't toasted but the seasoned fries were excellent. Service at the drive through window was lacking service. The bell rang and some of the staff just stood in the doorway while one sat at the table to clean up and pick up the check and other one was walking around the restaurant it's like they just kept going and acted like they didn't hear it ring after the customer waited over 10 min.'s after driving over the buzzer serval times. What happened to drop what you're doing and wait on ppl right away instead they do it when they're ready.

First time at a BR's and not real impressed. The "creamy" potato salad and pinto beans were blah, and cornbread was dry and chunky. Sausage was good but grilled chicken just had no taste and throw the bbq sauce away. Price was way high for the quality of food.
