Yelp
Visiting the area and was craving for Filipino food! Went on Yelp and found Roline's. Already planned on coming here but the funny thing is, I follow Chef Andre and watch his cooking videos on IG/TikTok but did not realize that this is the restaurant that his mom owns until his video popped up on Sunday on IG and I put two and two together that I was within the area!
Told my husband and my brother who were with me that we are going here!
Decoration inside is modern but showcases the Filipino culture which has halo-halo art, some merch, the woven hats & tray (I wanted to take home lol)! Seating is very limited here but not too bad, it was us 3 adults, 1 kid and a toddler, seated at the "bar" area next to the windows!
Just know this place is NOT a turu-turu joint. Food is made to order so there is a bit of a wait time but it makes up with the delicious authentic taste of your food and a big plus it comes out freshly warm!
Items that we ordered -
My brother got the Fried Chicken plate with Garlic Rice.
My brother is very particular about chicken especially fried chicken from filipino restaurants and he said that he enjoyed this plate! The crisp on the chicken and the seasoning is perfect! Heck, my daughter is such a picky eater and she enjoyed this chicken too!
My husband got: Sinigang Pork (baboy) plate with Garlic Rice.
My husband actually ordered an extra garlic rice in which it did not disappoint! He raved about the sabaw of the his sinigang and the garlic rice! He loved the sour taste of the sabaw which what sinigang is! There is a side of tomatoes placed your plate not in the sinigang! I even tasted the sinigang and I loved it. I love that I don't get the after taste if taba from the sabaw. The vegetables were a good ratio with the meat. None was too much or too little!
I got: Dinuguan Plate with white steamed rice and a personalized size of sisig.
The sisig is BOMB! Legit this personalized size can be an ulam with rice and I'd be fine but I needed sabaw! The crunchiness of the sisig is perfect! This fulfills my palette that seeks texture, the citrus taste and aroma it makes it mouth watering!
The diniguan, again the different textures I get of the meat in here and the sabaw it all comes together. Diniguan is my comfort food and this made it feel like I am at home.
My brother also ordered dessert: Halo Halo &
Leche Flan
Halo-Halo has a different take and a different look! My favorite part is they use fruity pebbles for the crunch! It's vibrant and gives that "pop" look! The leche flan, it's delicious and a good end to finish a meal here!
From being someone who was raised in San Diego that is surrounded by a huge population of Filipino food, I must say Roline's is on its own level of goodness! Now living in Riverside County where there is not much Filipino food and it's hard to find a good Filipino restaurant.
I am glad I came across Roline's, we will definitely be visiting when we are in the area because I want to try the ube halaya, tocino wings and much more!
Thank you for mapping out authentic Filipino dishes and fusion dishes which shows that it's not a bad thing to merge generations of recipes along with new recipes! I wish I lived closer to order party trays but this gives a reason to come up and visit!
