Doc's Bar & Grill Abilene

Great little place out in Potosi for drinks and food. Their pizza and wings are great. The fried okra and chicken fried steak are always perfection. Sometimes the service is a little slow but we keep going back so not too bad. Stephanie is the best! They have outdoor area for kids to run, live bands sometimes, karaoke night, and food specials. Pool tables as well. Cell phone signal sucks inside because of metal roof.

Friday night was catfish nite and live music with Dave Christen. The catfish was perfectly fried crispy. The slaw had a nice fresh bite and a perfect balance of sweetness. Even the tartar sauce was a taste of goodness. Super friendly staff! The live music was great, and the stars were bright in the sky. It was good night. I love supporting family owned businesses and live music venues.

This place has great potential. It's a really fun spot. The food was fairly good. The chicken fried steak was great. The okra was great. The wings were chicken nuggets, but they were flavored great. My problem was because they have a concrete floor and tin siding it's really noisy in there. I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans as a side with my chicken fried steak. The mashed potatoes were boxed potatoes and the green beans were canned and really stood out in the flavor. The service was okay. She was really friendly, but maybe doesn't have all the skills of a good waitress.

This is a good place with a nice atmosphere, but it has some things that need improvement prior to receiving 5 stars from myself. 1. While they do have a fairly ADA friendly setup, you can tell an actual disabled person was not consulted when designing the restroom. A. The support bar is non-standard, which does not allow for proper grippage and causes arms to fall through, causing a risk of shoulder dislocation for those who are not prepared for the gap. B. The toilet is not an ADA toilet and is difficult to get up from. C. The toilet paper is not placed conveniently for the disabled. D. The ADA stall does not have an emergency override for the door to allow easier access to those who become trapped within the stall. It is, however, a great size. I am confident that most assistive devices and a caretaker could fit with the patron comfortably. It does have a very stable floor. Unless it's wet, I don't think tripping would be an issue. The lighting is great. And it smells nice. The rest of the bathroom is nice. The sink could definitely use a calibration on its faucets because, as is, Jedis can't even get it to work. As for the staff - They are nice, but I didn't enjoy having the girl asking if we wanted to check out constantly when it was clear we were there for the band and were continuing to order things. All in all, I liked the place. However, I was there with my family to see the band and likely won't jump to go back unless they have another band we specifically want to see.

1/14/2026 Had the chicken fired steak (Wednesday special) and it really didn't have to much flavor. And the side of mash was low key small. The service was great though.

🙅🏾‍♀️✌🏾I won't be checking this place out. I haven’t tried any of the food here. I want no parts and do not recommend this place for karaoke Thursdays because this DJ filled in for Wildman DJ. Wildman DJ brought him on stage on a Karaoke Wednesday at another venue and all to announce that the regular KJ at Docs is filling in for him during his absence. I don’t recommend this place if you are military or veteran. Just go to Dallas for karaoke where diversity/variety is welcomed. I’m not supporting this business because the DJ at Docs contributes & was complicit to Wildman DJ’s unprofessional & unfair behavior towards new customers who signed up to sing. This essentially keeps this town exactly how it has likely always been. Small, bland & BORINGGGG🥱😴. It’s just straight up bad business ops 🤷🏾‍♀️. No one should have to wait until karaoke is damn near over to sing when they show up early enough.👎🏿✌🏾 Love, Peace, lightness, Blessings, Care, Kindness, fairness, community No weapon formed against me shall prosper.

I rented for a birthday party and was unable to get into contact with anyone to discuss catering, I started reaching out the day I ooked by email and phone. 3 days before the event he text me. I text him back asking him to call because I had questions, mainly about the food fee since I was unable to speak to anyone regarding catering. He responded back at 7 pm the night before the event, after I purchased my own food for the party, would not waive the $100 food fee or i would have to purchase $100 of food from them. It was very poorly managed and communication is inadequate. I was very disappointed to say the least. I love eating at Doc's but I will never rent for an event and would not recommend until there is a change in the way management communicates in a TIMELY matter.

Such a great place! We love coming here on Fridays to eat the catfish. I love that if anything is wrong they have no problem fixing it to make sure you are beyond happy. Stephanie always make sure we are well taken care of and is an amazing waitress!! 10 out of 10 for her and docs!

We friggin love this place. The food is fantastic. Even better with the new menu. Wings are the best I've ever had, wife loves the salmon, bbq chicken pizza is to die for. Staff is very friendly. We are regulars and this is a place where "everybody knows your name". They have a bounce house for kids and it's great for hosting private events. If you have something negative to say about Doc's I'm ready to fight.

Great service, cold drinks, great Onion Rings and real Hamburgers, not smash burgers with crumbs. Live music, leave them a tip! Good AC on a hot day! We will be back!!

I read Shawn M's review before I started this review. Shawn is an excellent yelper, so I'm sure his experience was quite disappointing. Fortunately, mine was just the opposite. I've been hearing about Doc's for a while, and we finally made it. Doc's has a country restaurant decor, but with all the tv's of a great sports bar. Best of both worlds! The staff was great, and we started with chips and salsa. The in-house salsa was great! We chowed it down. Now, it's Tuesday, which means $8 chicken fried steak! That's right! Chicken fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes with white gravy, and delicious green beans, with no white gravy. All for $8. It was actually very good. We're going to do it again tomorrow night! Thursday is wings night, and Friday is catfish night. We had a great time and a great meal at a reasonable price. I hope Shawn will give them another chance. GO to DOC's!

We had hot wings and honey bbq wings, both delicious. We did a take out order so I can't speak of ambiance, but my husband said it's really nice inside. The service at pick up was great to, very nice people that work there

I made a yelp account just because this place wad so shit, so heres a list on this cause I'm really pissed. I'd like to say first, the service was very good, loved that. The whole restaurant was pretty, there was a pool table, corn hole board outside, nice lighting. I loved that. Our server told us the menu is a few months outdated I had almost half the things from the menu, from all the people at our table ordering different things, and it all sucked. The special, chicken fried cutlet, was just chicken fried steak, where I thought it would be actual chicken, which may just be a misunderstanding on my part. The food was dry and tasted bad, the pizza sucked, the steak was undercooked, tasteless, and made me loose my appetite On top of that, the menu was overpriced as shit, and everything that looked like it would be good, they were out of, or they didn't sell it anymore. So let me teach yall how to make food and get more customers Make the chicken fried stake smaller, and thicker. It'll have twice the flavor, Dont beat the living shit out of it so that it's thinner than a sheet of cardboard. Season your dry ass food. Update the damn menu. actually cook the raw fries. Season the green beans better. And lower your prices. would also like to add that I really did like the fried pickles, those were perfect but for your own safety, PLEASE do NOT go to this restaurant. It is not worth the time or money.

Been wanting to come here for awhile now since I've been in Abilene working at Dyess AFB for about a month now. Let me say WOW! The food and service are great, it's a bit out but worth the drive. I got the Doc burger and it was the Wednesday special which I got an extra burger. It was delicious and good portions. So I took the other to the hotel. I also got the Gator bites which were awesome! The Cajun sauce was great. I will definitely come back and spend the word.

Been here twice. I always try places at least twice when they are local! Love giving the local folks the business. I travel all over the world. Spend 4 months on average in hotels and eating at different restaurants. So, I do get a little picky about service and quality of food. It is expense to eat out anywhere and it is a treat! This could be an amazing place. Has a great outside space. Looks like a great place to host a part. Food is average at best. WiFi does not work and as it is a metal building, your cell service is marginal. Every time I have gone, service is marginal. Ordered chicken fried steak, and they gave us plastic utensils... every cut steak with plastic fork and knife? Love the ambiance. Love the location. Service and food need to up their game a lot

Located out near Potosi, Doc's has been open for a few years, but we just made it out there. I have put off doing this review for a couple of days now as I tried to decide if I wanted to do it at all. Most reviews on Yelp are pretty positive. Unfortunately this one will not be one of those. Atmosphere: Definitely has the "sports bar" vibe going on. Several TVs with appropriate sports content. One thing they do right is actually turn on closed captioning on all their TVs so u actually know what's being said! Why doesn't every place do this?!?!? Temperature was very acceptable. Nice outdoor space as well when weather permitting. 1 Star Service: Here we go. I should preface this with the following: the restaurant was not very busy and there were several waitresses floating around as well as many other employees just walking around. Ok, that being said, let's continue. As we walked in we were pleasantly greeted at the door and told to just go find whatever table we wanted (I love places like this.) Waitress was quick to our table, took our drink and appetizer orders, and literally within seconds we had our chips and salsa. Then it all came crumbling down. Don't get me wrong, our waitress was very nice and apologized several times for her lack of attentiveness. After we received our chips I noticed we didn't have any salt with the rest of the condiments on the table. So I asked for some. She said she would go get it. 10 minutes passed and nothing. I had to flag down a bus boy, who was very polite and got it for us. We also ordered mozzarella sticks which were supposed to have ranch and marinara. We got those shortly after the salt. No marinara (I don't eat ranch). We asked for some. Never got it until about 5 min later I flagged down the same bus boy (now our waiter it seems), and he went and got a small container with what he thought was marinara. After the first dip, I discovered it was cocktail sauce. I eventually got our waitress' attention, who did get the marinara. Right as I got down to the last cold cheese stick. About 15 min later she took our entree orders, two burgers (essentially). 30 plus min before we got those. One of the tables right next to us, which had a small family of four with 2 small children, were obviously getting perturbed. They were waiting for their check. The mother eventually took the two kids outside to run around while the husband waited for the ticket. He waited at least another 10 minutes after the wife left. He wasn't very happy. 0.5 Stars (because all the staff was friendly) Food: Well, I'm just going to make this short and sweet since there is nothing good here to talk about, minus two things. The chips and salsa were good. We really liked the salsa especially. Cheese sticks are just simply frozen cheese sticks from any restaurant supply place. Nothing freshly made here. They were ok. I got the Patty Melt which comes with grilled mushrooms and onions. There was not a drop of moisture left in that burger patty. It was like eating a charcoal briquette. Cooked to the point that it was actually sucking the moisture from my mouth as I took a bite. Worst restaurant burger I have ever gotten. I'd like to say my wife's Grilled Chicken Sandwich was better. It too was cooked so far past juicy that I believe it asked her for a beer to help quench its dryness. She also said that she didn't think there was any seasoning at all on it. Just an over cooked plane Jane chicken breast patty. On the bright side, the French fries were fresh and were actually quite good. 0.5 Stars (for fries and salsa.) Overall: It really pains me to write a review like this. Doc's is located just down the street, within 2 miles, of our house. Could have been a place we frequented often if everything would have been, at the very least, decent. As you will notice, if you go through all of my reviews, I rarely give a bad review. I try to find all the positives. I maybe have 1 or 2 other reviews that rival this one. I would love to go back on a different night and give them another try, just to see if maybe bad juju was just in the air that evening. Either way, I can't recommend it based on our experience, sadly. Unless you plan on going to watch sports and have French fries, chips and salsa, and maybe one beer. BTW, we sat down at 5:45pm and left just after 7:45 pm; for essentially two burgers and 2 appetizers. 2 stars (generously).

Read reviews and thought after 1-2 years have passed maybe service has improved so we gave it a chance. Sat here waiting for someone to stop by and offer menu or acknowledge we were here. Other tables came is and I kept an eye out wondering if they would be acknowledged. My husband finally went to the bar to at least get us a drink. We're told you had to sit down and order from your waitress. So bartender Mattie who was awesome showed up with our beers and ended up taking our order. Other table after us actually ordered and got food way before us and were leaving when we finally got our lukewarm food. Part of order incorrect and Maddie took care of it to have redone. 2nd attempt was very good. Got our food had to go ask for ticket never checked on us to see how everything was. We asked the busboy if we could have some napkins as none ever provided -forgot. We asked the busboy for to go containers -forgot. My thought is here from observation, the waitresses cater to regulars. Waitress stopping to chit chat holding the kids at the table shows partiality. If you are not a regular you are ignored which doesn't bring anyone back doesn't matter if food is good or not. Plenty of other places in town to spend my money. Was hoping reviews could be improved ,sadly I can't be the one to do that.

Parkside Abi was playing Grounds are great for watching band. I didn't get here for dinner. Idk about the food

Had an amazing night with Mya as our server. We had 6 in our party and she took such great care of us. Definitely will come back. And the bartender (don't know his name) made some amazing drinks. 10/10, would get drunk here again!

Chicken fried steak so tender it melts in your mouth. Friendly attentive staff. Laid back country atmosphere to hang with friends and relax. But they have TABC signs and double down with an unnecessary NO GUNS sign. I have had 3 years of my freedoms infringed I can't spend my money at places like this anymore. I recommend Lucy's as a conservative alternative. I respect your desire to keep my scary gun out of your business, please respect my right to keep my cash outside with it.

Chicken fried steak, mash potatoes, and green beans were very good, decent price, good cold beer!

The food was alright but the service was good! It's an interesting atmosphere.... The parking lot is all gravel and there is a large outdoor space. When you walk in you seat yourself but it's not really obvious that you're supposed to do that. You can take your family here but it's kind of just one big open space that is the bar and the restaurant area. The bbq cheese fries appetizer was good but the entrees were not worth it.

Once again we enjoyed a great meal at Docs. This was the best pizza we've ever had. Perfectly cooked and excellent flavor. We always enjoy our meals and the music at Doc's.

First off, I love this bar and grill!!! My wife and I just moved here from out of state and Doc's is a two minute drive from our house. I decided to take my wife and three kids out to eat here. As soon as I walked in with one of my kids I was greeted and then a group of some of the regulars started talking to my wife and I. They invited us to sit with them and they became the first group of friends we made in Abilene. We happened to be there on a Monday which was dollar domestics. We ordered the gator bites, truffle fries, mozzarella stills and onion rings. Everything we ordered was super good. The second time we went there we ordered the nachos which was also super good. I've heard the burgers are amazing and I'll be ordering that the next time I go. My kids had a great time with our new friends kids. Outside they have cornhole, sand volleyball, a fire pit and plenty of space to sit or stand. Inside they have a "jukebox" and two pool tables with plenty of seats. The whole place is well maintained and clean. The waitresses are super friendly, helpful and on top of getting drinks and food for everyone. I plan on bringing all my friends and family to this place whenever anyone visits from out of town. I met Ben the owner/manager and he was a super nice and friendly guy. Everyone basically cheers for him when he walks in the bar.

Wow wow what can I say thx you Doc's for the great burger and truffle fries and the wings are fantastic. The place is very clean and the staff is very helpful - when we where there it was packed and The service was good. We will back soon and ready to dig in.

Cassie was the best server/bartender/manager in the whole place! She put a smile on our face as soon as we walked in and until we left. The food was amazing, and the service was amazing. We LOVE coming here and seeing Cassie!! We can't wait to come back!

Not bad. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, plenty of TVs to watch if you want. Chips and salsa was good, little salty but had good flavor. Burger and fries was tasty, bun was toasted, fixins were on the side so you can put what ya want. Wings were done just right.

This places has potential and if the food issues are corrected it will be a nice place to hang out. Decor is very nice and lots of tvs to watch the games. The food was the let down for me. The menu was very limited, however, it did just open so I expect more items as they gain more experience. We ordered cheese sticks as an appetizer. They were really good., definitely be ordering those again. For our entree we ordered the wings, Cheeseburger and fries. The wings were pretty good as well however the burger is where they fell flat. The bread was very thick and dense and served cold, almost like it just came from the refrigerator. They did toast the bun however It seemed like they did it hours before service because it was very soggy. The meat was ok, it had little flavor but the toppings were very disappointing . Three small strands of lettuce, a tomato that was an inch thick on one end and paper thin on the other. No mustard or mayo on top of the other issues, made this a cold,thick, dry burger that was very hard to eat with out a drink. The truffle fries were also disappointing, taste was good however cold and chewy as if they were cooked an hour earlier. I hope this place succeeds and I believe they will if they can fix the food. We will try again after some time hopefully leaving with a better opinion.

Steak night at Docs cannot be beat. Cold beer grilled steaks. Very good! Always run into people we know. Chase was awesome thank you.

4 of us came in for the Tuesday evening chicken fried steak, and drinks. We arrived at 6:40 pm, and it's now 7:41, and just received our second round of drinks. The food still hasn't arrived and the waitress has been very elusive. Will not be back.

Wonderful service and the pizza was the best I have ever had! Nice atmosphere. Kinda weird that they have a playground at a bar but hey, to each their own!

Great fun on karaoke night. Long necks were cheap and free flowing. Try the pizza and the wings are to die for. Good service! If you go in on a non karaoke night And you put money in the juke box know the bartenders have control of the volume. Kind of a bummer when it is playing a song you like and the bartender doesn't.

Bartender named Hailey did her job well. The place is hidden from the public which adds to it mystery. I had the burger and upgraded to truffle fries. It was nothing special. I can cook better burgers than what I was given. This place has two pool tables, sand volleyball court, outdoor dining, and wide open spaces inside the bar. It's probably best to mingle than to dine here.

They have recently added tons of new food to their menu which is wonderful. I had the chicken friend steak the other night and it was great. My favorite food is the alligator bites so give them a try. You can't beat the drink deals so sign up for phone alerts.

We came in around 2:15 on a Saturday afternoon, the waitress came around 5-10 minutes later and was very sweet. We ordered nachos around 2:25 with our drinks. About 20 minutes later the rest of our party ordered several appetizers. They were understandably busy on a Saturday afternoon, but the rest of our party's appetizers came out in about 25 minutes. Around 3:10 the waitresses came by and said she would check in our nachos, but nothing came. Around 3:20 we asked the bar tender to cancel our nachos. At around 3:30 she let us knew that the kitchen apparently "lost the order" and that they were in the oven if we still wanted them. It then took another 15+ minutes to get our tickets to leave. Would not recommend if you are in a rush or very hungry. The atmosphere and staff are nice.

Best bar in Abilene hands down. Good music, not too loud, you can still have a decent conversation. Friendly bar tenders, friendly crowd. Prices are IMMACULATE! $ Specials every night. Food is 10/10 very good, little bit of a wait but worth it.

Super cool environment, a great space to rent for parties and/or functions also. Love the options of having indoor and outdoor seating & bar. Owners and staff are always super friendly! And there's nothin like a good ole Doc's Burger! Food is good and easy going for a fun Bar & Grill environment! There's always some thing fun happening there from drink specials, to karaoke or live entertainment!

I do like docs. The food has always been great. Music is a little loud sometimes the mix drinks could use some help, the owners are great. I really wish that it could get back to the way it was when it opened. There was so much life and fun, I will continue to go. The location is convenient from where I live.

every time i'm home from college i want to come here! the buffets are so good and delicious! the crew is really nice too and made the experience great. i also love the cute details outside and inside.

Menu is still very, VERY limited as far as food goes. Drinks may be another thing. Looks like they have everything ever thought of to put in a glass. The hamburger is fantastic. Each flavor can be tasted in every bite. And don't pass on the cobbler/ice cream, unless you would rather have a liquid chaser. Oh! If it has rained don't take a clean vehicle. Mud parking lot and a long walk if you have a handicap flag.

Tried out Doc's and was very pleased. Food was pretty good and the atmosphere is relaxing and comfy! I like the many choices for beer on tap. The best of the experience was the service! Everyone is so sweet and you feel like your around friends there.

What kind of establishment is this? When we arrived around 8:30 PM there were plenty of tables open. We sat around for 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging our presence. Needless to say, we departed thirsty and hungry. The drive is not worth it. Do not recommend.

Man, hate to leave this because the food is so good but the service is terrible. Sitting there 20 minutes and nothing. No we'll be right with you, can I get you a drink, nothing. They had 1 server and she was working. How about the one sitting at the end of the bar or the bartender who wasn't busy. Sad. We left and on the way out I called. I got a we're very sorry we only have 1 server. I said your pretty slow so I assume you need the business. Get it together Doc's because your food is really good but I don't have 2 hours to sit and wait. We have tolerated the wait several times because of the good food but it's just getting old. Headed to mulligans!

I'm not sure where all the hype comes from, the service was poor at best; I waited 22 minutes for the server to take our food order. It was not busy, not even close. I again waited for the bartender to get off their phone and take my drink orders. When I did receive service, they were very snotty and acted as though my orders were a burden and they shouldn't even have to service customers. The "manager" was just as bad if not worse. I was appalled. My advice? Spend your money somewhere your business will be appreciated. This was my third visit at which point I gave up and decided a review was required. I'm not one to review after the first visit, everyone has bad days. But the service was consistently poor across all 3 visits to Docs. 1 star, which is only given because the food was decent.

The place is nice, and the food is ok. BUT, the kitchen is not well ventilated and all the fumes and smoke ends up in the dining area, it's horrible and uncomfortable. It takes FOREVER to get your food, so if you order first apetizer and then meal be ready to wait!! Just order all together. The karaoke system sounds terrible so it's loud but not enjoyable. Everything added up to a really uncomfortable night. Not going back!
