Being near my workout class, Rosa Mexicano worked as a convenient lunch option for hangry me.
The restaurant was spacious with high ceilings, the biggest I have probably seen. I originally reserved tables, but there was no need on a weekend afternoon.
Either the server was busy or Rosa places great emphasis on extending our stay, as the two of us and nearby parties munched on our complimentary salsa and chips for a while before our server even took or served our orders. Unfortunately, I picked a wrong day to come because birria was not available that day.
I took this chance to try the Enchiladas Trio ($32) instead. Sadly, it tasted exactly like what I dreaded: saucy, and not to mention, overly salty. I told the waiter this and he said it was the first time someone told him this. Everyone must be defaulting their answer to "good" whenever he asks then!
I had the Mushroom, Duck, and Chicken, and if I had to pick one, go with the Duck! Luckily, the creamy Mexican rice side helped in drowning out the saltiness.
The Camarones al Mojo de Ajo ($28) sounded intriguing on paper, but it was also overly salty, I kid you not. The chorizos were an obvious culprit. We both had to agree the flavorful shrimp was fire though thankfully, granted they are the star of the dish.
Frozen margaritas in Mexican restaurants can do no wrong, and the ones here were bomb. I got the Frozen Guava Margarita ($14) and it was pretty fuerte! I usually don't get tipsy easily, but these drinks always hit different. The tangy fruity flavor was also accurate, although I wish they weren't served with paper straws. An ice chunk kept getting stuck in the straw.
If it wasn't for the drinks and the gorgeous interior with vibey music that got people up and dancing, I would not have had as good a time.
