"Smack in the middle of Paris’ Golden Triangle (Avenue Montaigne, the Champs-Élysées, and the Grand Palais), Martin Margiela—known and loved for his very specific and very conceptual spin on fashion—doesn’t immediately come to mind as a likely candidate for a second career as a hotel interior decorator. After all, his namesake boutiques tend to be impossible to find and packed with thrilling—though stark—design flourishes. But there’s nothing cold about Le Maison Champs-Elysée: It’s cool and other-worldly, but its architectural moments (neon signs, chairs draped to resemble ghosts, a rhomboid concierge desk) never compromise the comfort."

Let me get the positive things out of the way first. 1) the hotel’s location is fabulous; 2) the staff were professional and very helpful (with one exception noted below), and we especially appreciate Filip for his genuine interest in our feedback; and 3) the lobby and the restaurant present well. But a five star hotel? Our room suggest otherwise. While the bed and pillows were comfortable, the room was quite small and appointments (plastic lamps? We’ve stayed in nicer 3 star level rooms) disappointing. We used a considerable amount of points to be assigned the lowest level room, despite being loyal Marriott Bonvoy members (including credit card) for decades. The breakfast service bordered on rude, and we were poorly served, from incessant delays and an attempt to double charge us for coffee. The wine pours were stingy for the price we paid. And we always seem to land a Marriott hotel that is under construction or doesn’t have the services advertised. We were surprised to find out that on Thursday night, the hotel restaurant turns into a loud nightclub, with the reverberations of the music pounding well into the night. While the location is fabulous, the value for our stay was substandard. Count us as disappointed.

The service and people working at this hotel are amazing. From the turn down service, to the chocolates on the pillow, to the friendly staff at the door, or the Team working the restaurant and bar - Each contributed to our amazing stay. The location of the hotel was perfect for morning walks, Central to some amazing restaurants, and just far enough off the path to not be “in the noise“ of everything. The restaurant is excellent. The beef Wellington is a meal that I would eat daily. Our room had a quaint little sitting area, desktop, computer, and all of the amenities we needed. My reason for giving it a four star is that it could be updated to be more modern, but then it might lose its charm. We will most certainly be back. Thank you again amazing staff for making our experience one to remember..

Very good hotel and even better location. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Staff were helpful and rooms were good. Our view was pretty bad as it was an interior courtyard storage area of some sort. We would stay again.

I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. Despite being marketed as a five-star Marriott affiliated property, the reality falls far short. The rooms were unfit for a stay: strong smell of smoke (likely masked with chemicals), worn and dated décor and terrible service. Within minutes of checking in, we decided to leave and secured accommodation elsewhere (we ended up at the Kimpton St. Honoré Paris, a great hotel).||What made this experience far worse than the outdated rooms, odor, and the inconvenience of having to relocate was the way management handled it. The general manager was dismissive and defensive, and the front office manager went so far as to misrepresent our stay, falsely claiming we remained in the rooms “for several hours” to justify charging an early departure fee. This was untrue and could easily be disproven, but it was clear management simply wanted to keep our money. After repeated, unsuccessful attempts with the hotel to resolve the matter, I have been forced to escalate through Marriott and my bank to dispute the charge. It has become unnecessarily time consuming, but at some point fairness and principle demand pressing for the right outcome. As a longtime Marriott member who has stayed at hundreds of properties, I have never encountered such rude and unprofessional treatment (especially at a five-star hotel). ||Other reviewers have noted similar issues, run-down rooms, dated décor, rude service and my experience confirms those complaints are not isolated. A true five-star hotel (or any well-run hotel). must not only maintain its standards but also treat guests with honesty and respect. Sadly, La Maison Champs-Élysées fails on both counts. ||There are far better options in Paris. I love visiting and so happy I found a much nicer place to stay.

Although the hotel is doing some upgrading and adding a spa, the excellent service of a great staff more than makes up for any inconvenience from the remodeling. Employees like Philip at the reception desk went above and beyond to make our experience a great one. Mario out front is always very helpful and entertaining. Great location and great staff and service!!

We had a fantastic experience at La Maison Champps Elysées! My daughter and I visited and loved the convenient location (walkable to many landmarks, Eiffel Tower) and style. The staff was absolutely wonderful at every turn. Elena was warm and helpful, Filip went out of his way to assist us with all of our needs (safety pins!), and Mario was a lovely and gracious host - he was kind enough to help with our bags and was lovely company whenever we were in the lobby. We appreciated the constant resupply of bottled water and meringues (delicious). Overall a fantastic choice when in Paris.

La Maison Champs Élysées should be ashamed to call itself a “luxury” hotel. What a joke. From the moment you enter, you realize this is nothing but a tourist trap wrapped up in pretentious packaging.||||First of all, half the place is under renovation. I didn’t pay to sleep in a construction site, but that’s exactly what this hotel is. Walking to my room felt like going through a dusty, soulless work zone, with amenities either missing or closed. This isn’t “modern chic,” it’s ENORMOUS disrespect to paying guests.||||Then there’s the smell. For some unfathomable reason, the entire hotel reeks of cheap, suffocating cologne. It’s not subtle, not pleasant, and absolutely not “luxurious.” It’s like stepping into a Sephora, only to realize you’re stuck there overnight.||||The so-called “design” of the corridors (especially the creepy walk to the second building) feels like someone abandoned the project halfway through. Cold, weird, sterile — it’s like living in an unfinished art installation that no one asked for.||||Breakfast? Don’t even get me started. It’s a scam. Before I could even sit down, the restaurant staff practically jumped on me, asking for coffee. I stand up to see what miserable scraps are offered at the buffet, and I get accosted again for my room number and whether I want eggs. How about letting me sit down first before interrogating me? The buffet itself is pathetic — a sad, stale, pitiful spread that any no-name Parisian corner café could outshine without even trying. And of course, it’s priced like gold.||||Bottom line: this place is a dumpster fire disguised as a hotel. My advice? Avoid it at all costs. Paris has endless wonderful places to stay — this is NOT one of them.||And please, to the hotel staff: do not bother replying with the standard “we’re sorry” and “we hope to welcome you again on your next trip.” I am not stupid enough to ever set foot in this disgrace of a hotel again.

Google
Great location, not kid friendly as one would expect. Restaurant…underwhelming very confusing for the breakfast, you need to order your coffee, water or eggs. For me it was watch other people to figure it out. Staff was kind of dismissive and more concerned about breakfast included or not included. Kids menus do not exist even though it is still listed on the menu on the TV for room service. Not a deal breaker but could have made things easier. My daughter is more of a burger and fries kid vs. Foie Gras, just would have been easier if the menu was up to date. Front desk at check in was superb. RM 115 not so great albeit it is big it’s laden with huge steps and you need to be an acrobat to climb into bed. Trying not to be the ugly American but not the best Marriott experience, lower your expectations if you are expecting US type stay. This isn’t the US I know, but being a loyal MARRIOTT customer with a little status, please make it easier. I just wanted a coffee and a scrambled egg for breakfast! Good luck, this one isn’t for me, John Carlsson USMC RET

Yelp
This was my first time traveling to Paris where I had to book my own accommodations. As a Marriott member and the fact that this hotel is supposedly a 5 star hotel, I expected to ne staying at a nice hotel. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my experiences here. Immediately when we went to check in, it took a couple of minutes to find someone who would be able to check us in. The layout of the lobby was not functional. Furthermore, I like my privacy. The computers at the front desk were below the counter with a transparent glass over it. Consequently, I could see not only my reservation/information but also other people's information. That is inappropriate and could even be a potential safety risk. Furthermore, some of the benefits that come associated with being a Marriott member (i.e. breakfast) were not included. The lobby appeared to be under construction. However, after checking in with the receptionist we learned that it was but that was just the style of the artist. We arrived before our room was not ready. We were able to check in and leave our bags while we went off to explore. After exploring ,we came back and our room was ready and the bags were already in the room. The room was simple, clean and what we needed. The bathroom was a little dated and i wish the glass door extended further. In addition, the toliet didn't flush well. We informed the staff and they said they fixed it but that was not the case. Unfortunately, there was no gym at the hotel. This was something that I didn't realize when I booked it. As someone that likes to workout, I was disappointed at this. Especially if this is considered a 5 star hotel. The location was good. In 15 minutes you could walk to many tourist attraction, which was nice. Overall, I was disappointed with my experiences here. The price I paid did not justify for the experience/amenities.

Yelp
Awful hotel. Run down, rude front desk staff. The air conditioner in the entire building was "broken." Front desk staff told me they had mobile units they would try to get to my room "in a few hours." It was 78F outside and over 80 in the room. After finding some actual workers (housekeepers, not reception) they brought me 3 fans. The carpet was old and wet and had either feces or blood stains on it. The shower stopped working about 2 minutes into my first use. It smells very strange in the hallways. Oh! And they're trying to charge me €800 for one night! Whatever you do, NEVER stay at this hotel. I'm shocked it's in the Bonvoy network as one of its Design hotels. This place wouldn't make it as a truck stop motel on the side of a highway.

Yelp
Location was great. Breakfast was great. Service was great. Check in and housekeeping and staff were great. Room, bed and bathroom and amenities were excellent. DALI, SAM, Fredric were all great. We felt safe secure and comfortable. Thank you!!! Highly recommend. Those croissants!!!!!

Yelp
This hotel is in a fantastic location, right off the Champs Elysees. Great restaurants and shopping within a few minutes walk. The hotel itself is very nice and the rooms are what I consider standard for Europe. My only complaint, and the reason for the poor rating, is that their air conditioning was out in the entire hotel, and it was mid June. We were not told about it until we asked why it was do hot in our room. We weren't offered a discount, a meal, a drink, nothing. They just shrugged their shoulders and said "pardon." Not my experience with a 5 star hotel, especially one in the Marriott family.

Michael M.

Yelp
Not a 5 star hotel Rooms small, tired and dark. Bathroom tiny. This hotel over priced and over rated. Marriott should be ashamed to call this a 5 star. Staff friendly and acknowledge hotels deficiencies

Yelp
We are a couple with a 5 year old child as we clearly mentioned om the reservation before wr came here. We were accommodated in the room 211. The room is exactly on top of the terrace where they organised an event without even telling us ! They only had to do one thing. To call us and suggest to move on a different floor, in the morning. We came now in the room and the noise is unbelievable. My wife is trying to put him to sleep so evidently we cannot move now as it will take 40 minutes. Why did they give us this room if they knew they will have an event generating huge noise? Why they did not call is today to mention the event and suggest in the morning tk change the room? Why is this manager of the hotel still hired and not fired immediately? How come they gave us the room in the first place if they knew they will have an event this late on the next day ?!?!?!?! Why are the event people allowed to stay in the terrace to disturb the guests when they can simply organise inside without disturbing anybody?!?!?!!??? Worst management I ever saw in my life. This should be a 2 star hotel and the general manager should be fired immediately for making these basic mistakes. Extremely bad stay and bad experience. Do not use as a family choice. Stay away. I have videos where you csn actually hear inside the room how big the noise is. I documented everything.

Yelp
This hotel is owned by the Marriott, it marketed as a boutique luxury hotel . It is a total waste of money and points. The rooms are tiny, smells like smoke, the faucets don't work, the shower runs out of hot water. There is no lobby, no atmosphere, black coffee cost eight euros, there is nothing special about this place. Honestly save your money.

Yelp
Lovely hotel right next to the Champs Elysee but with a couple blocks in between so that the hotel is nice and quiet at night. The rooms were beautiful, average size but large enough that you didn't feel suffocated. What gave this hotel 5 stars for me was the service! All the front desk people were so friendly and helpful in recommending things to do for us tourists. I called earlier and requested a steamer for the room and it was there on our arrival. Also, my boyfriend and I got engaged our first night there and after finding out we were sent some complimentary champagne and nuts. They were also super helpful in assisting us with extending our stay a second night. Would definitely go back and recommend this to those looking for a hotel with ease of access to the main tourist areas but a quieter atmosphere.

Yelp
Just a heads up.. don't stay here if you don't like your privacy invaded or things stolen. Housekeeping stole $400 from my purse my last day there when I went down for breakfast. I called the hotel to report this incident when I realized my money gone at the airport. They said they would call back but never did. Customer service also sucks. We asked several times for extra towels & soaps but they never catered to us. Water didn't get hot. Bidet didn't work. Bathrooms were super tiny. If I'm ever in France again, I'm avoiding this hotel chain & telling everyone I know to do so as well.

Yelp
Gorgeous Boutique Hotel! Loved the styling as soon as I walked in by Maison Martin Margiela. The chic stark whiteness of the lobby waiting room, the angled mirrors, and of course the carpeted "wood panel" walkway leading to the elevators with the 3 beautiful chandeliers and fitting mannequins. Then of course you see the LED lighted Diamond in the Sky. The rooms were completely modern and tech savvy with ipod/iphone deck, and equipped with apple tv. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant of the hotel, La Table du Huit was perfect as well. I adored everything about this hotel and the location was near all the best shopping of course.

Yelp
I loved staying here. The location is amazing! You can walk to Avenue Montaigne, the Champs Elysee and the Petite Palais. The interiors are simple, comfortable and minimal. The colour theme is black and white. Having breakfast in the room was better than in the restaurant I thought. The fresh juices were lovely! The size of the room and bathroom is comfortable with a full sized tub; perfect for soaking in after a long day of walking. The bathrobe is so comfy! The front desk staff is professional, worldly, and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again. Especially since it is within walking distance to my favorite lunch spot L'Avenue! And so close to all the great fashion boutiques.

Yelp
Excellent choice for location with best staff service. Cigar lounge was awesome and you will love the rooms.

Yelp
Great hotel experience! I'm an SPG Platinum member and have stayed at a lot of nice hotels, including others in Paris. The staff really went out of their way to help us. We were in the hotel for 8 days - work during the week and fun during the weekends. They helped with the many bags that we had for a conference booth and coordinating things. The hotel is an easy walk to all the sites that you'll want to see in Paris - very centrally located. It's next to the Gran Palais and the mid-point between the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and the Arc de Triumph. Will stay there again.
