KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar

Loved this restaurant. High quality hand rolls at an incredibly reasonable set price point (especially by NYC standards), with tipping already included in the cost. The service is efficient and non-fussy. The bathroom is way nicer and cleaner than most. They don’t take reservations (unless it’s for a large private party) and there can be a pretty lengthy line at times. The West Village location is smaller than the others but the line still moves relatively quickly. Also appreciated that the music was present but not too loud. Would def recommend!

My friend and her boyfriend highly recommended this restaurant after having been multiple times to their other locations. It was our first time in the West Village location and we were disappointed by the service. They said usually they are usually in and out in 30 min but we were in line and waiting on food for almost two hours. I am not sure if they were short staffed or didn’t not have enough rice being made as it seemed they constantly had to stop to refill the rice. Food wise my friends said the fish to rice ratio was less than in their other locations. We ordered the five piece meal which was amazing. We all switched out the crab for shrimp which I really recommend. I also ordered an additional eel roll which was pretty good. I would rank them the following : 1. Shrimp 2. Scallop 3. Yellowtail 4. Eel 5. Lobster 6. Toro Even with the ranking I would get each one again.

Definitely a place worth visiting if you are a fan of Hand Roll Sushi. The place does not take reservations, you have to queue, but the queue moves pretty fast and you get seated rapidly. The atmosphere is very cozy, and quiet (despite the fact that it is busy). Each roll tried was very good, plus I loved the fact that they have everyday special dishes, depending on the seasonal availability. We got the Sea bass sashimi as a special dish and it was very good! Moreover, the staff is very welcoming and helpful. Would for sure recommend this place!

Best hand roll in the city. Something about the rice makes it so good. The service is the best I've had in a long time. The salmon was my favorite. Simple menu, all bar seating, and the food gets served very similar to omakase style. Highly recommended. I'd show you the roll but I ate them.. 😂 sorry for the empty plate.

Absolutely excellent. Loved how we were informed with how to eat (immediately so nori stayed crisp, rice warm). Had the 4 roll special and it was the perfect amount for lunch. No tipping so you know the workers get a good wage. Loved it.

My brother recommended KazuNori, and I’m so glad he did. It was my first time trying hand rolls, and the experience was amazing! The rolls were fresh, and made right in front of us, which made it even more enjoyable. The service was friendly and efficient. I’d definitely come back again and highly recommend it to anyone looking to try hand rolls.

Amazing sushi hand rolls! Not your average sushi experience. Been going to the one in downtown LA for years and just discovered the NY locations. Absolutely love it!
