Riverwalk staple with wood‑fire cooking and a raw bar—oysters, Gulf seafood, and crowd‑pleasing plates. A frequent pick in Southern Living and local roundups, it’s as much about the Tennessee River setting as the seafood.

Another amazing meal at The Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar! The Chesapeake Bay raw oysters are incredibly fresh, the grilled oysters smoky and flavorful, the trout almondine perfectly cooked, and the Apple Pecan Bread Pudding is pure comfort. Consistently outstanding food and a warm, inviting atmosphere make it hands down a favorite whenever we visit Chattanooga!

Went to visit Chattanooga this labor day. Decided to give this place a chance. It was so nice. So beautiful. We started with the New Orleans BBQ shrimp. Absolutely delicious. Very flavorful. Then I had the Texas dip sandwich and my partner had the grilled salmon. We ended up with the Sunday ice cream last. I highly recommend this place for either a romantic time out or to have a fun get together. I could remember our servers name. He had glasses, brown hair, tall, and wore a green and purple bracelet. He was absolutely amazing. Knew the menu and suggested so many good things to us.

This was my first time actually loving a fish dish at an American restaurant! I usually don’t like cooked fish or dishes like this, but this one was amazing. Definitely the best restaurant I’ve tried in Chattanooga so far. The salad was unique. It was SO GOOOOOD. and the fried calamari was perfectly crispy. not greasy at all. I’m drooling looking at these photos😭

First time here after enjoying a walk on the nearby trail. It was a nice relief from the late July heat. Wait time for us (party of 8).was roughly around 15 minutes, which was phenomenal, considering it was a packed house. Our server was terrific and energetic. Very tentative and checked on our party to make sure everything was to our liking. The wait for our food wasn't horrible either. Maybe 15-20 minutes after we placed it with our server. Everything was extremely fresh and hot. Portions were very good and the prices reflected on the quality of the food. I would be glad to pay it again for the dishes we received and the service. Dessert was also exceptional. The portions for it were very generous. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience. I'm definitely going to make a stop at this place if im ever in town again.

We did have to wait awhile for our table since it was busy and we requested for outdoor seating, but we managed to wait it out at the bar. Bartender was wonderful. Table service was also great and everything came quickly.

Google
The food is always so good and fresh tasting. The wait can be long, but it’s worth it! Beautiful river views. We’re lucky to have to this place. Salmon smash burger is great! Trout almandine is great! The garlic, olive oil, feta dip is great! Fries are sooooo good! The rotisserie chicken meal with the cabbage side is so good.

Google
I love the large patio overlooking the Tennessee River. Gorgeous views. While we waited for a table, we sat at the bar and had a few drinks. The bartenders were excellent. Very friendly and always checked on us. We had an amazing table outside and with the sun going down, the view was fabulous. I am allergic to seafood but they were able to accommodate to make sure my food was safe for me to eat. Everyone loved their dinner. It came out hot and delicious. We had the bread pudding and didn't want to stop eating it, it was outstanding. Definitely recommend if in the area to eat at.

Google
Come here! Any wait is worth it. I would have gladly waited hours. The food is that good. I had the murder bay oysters and whole smoked trout. The Trout was cooked perfectly. The view outside is beautiful too. My kids loved their fried shrimp.

Yelp
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Boathouse Rotisserie and Raw Bar, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The seafood was outstanding--so fresh and flavorful that it felt like we were dining on the coast instead of inland. It truly exceeded expectations and rivaled the quality you'd find on a seaside vacation. The service made the evening even more special. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for our celebration. The views are quite good. Boathouse overlooks the Tennessee River. You can see a variety of small-craft traffic on the water as you enjoy your meal. The raw-bar is top-notch. These folks know how to cultivate and serve a raw menu. We ended our meal with dessert, indulging in their Key Lime Pie and Bread Pudding--both were absolutely delicious and the perfect way to cap off a memorable night. If you're looking for exceptional seafood, incredible service, and a place to celebrate a special occasion, Boathouse is the place to go.

Yelp
Nice service, great food , nice view. Staff was very accommodating for our needs. Even though they were crowded, they have sufficient parking and the wait was not long at all.

Yelp
Food-3/10 Oyster Rockefeller was bland the tomatoes over powdered the dish. Oysters were so small the bacon and tomatoes were all you could taste. $80 for 2 dozen. Wish I had gotten char grilled oysters. Grilled bread would have been better with butter on it. Calamari- 4/10 was just ok wish they had a marinara dipping sauce Painkiller- delicious and very flavorful 10/10 Service-10/10 the server was very kind and attentive Ambiance-10/10 beautiful river view

Yelp
Great location, tons of parking, and great seating inside and out. The outside was covered with heating. Very scenic area. Wait staff was great. Food was hot and tasty.

Yelp
Sunday lunch and it was delicious. I tried something new, the Ahi tuna with grilled okra. I've had the fried calamari before and it is always good. We had the amaretto brownie and it was great. Our server was great and even gloomy we enjoyed the atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
The view is breathtaking. The food is good but it's not fantastic. The service was great! I feel like our favorite was the bbq shrimp with the bread. Everything else was okay!
google avatar

Gena A.

Yelp
The location is lovely, situated right on the water with a beautiful view. The waitress was exceptional, expertly managing a table of twelve. The food was enjoyable.

Yelp
We came on Wednesday with the catfish special. By itself, catfish was a little bland but once you add lemon juice and black pepper it is flavorful enough to enjoy. My partner had the Kentucky Bird, which was decent. Kind of tart. Preferred sweeter drinks but was able to finish it. I had the Hemingway which was a bit dry because of the ingredients but to be expected so fine. Waitress checked on us enough, so no complaints there. We like the view and plenty of parking.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Portions are on the small side, but filling. Service was absolutely great! Atmosphere was cozy, romantic and the ambiance was amazing. The outside patio had a view of the Tennessee River- stunning! I would return for sure!

Yelp
This restaurant has a breathtaking ambience and view. Rose was my server and she was amazing! I stopped by for appetizers. I ordered the Wood Grilled Oysters ($16 for 6) and got them loaded (bacon & cheese added for $4). This appetizer had a lot of potential, but just lacked a little in seasoning. They tasted much better when I added the house hot sauce. The oysters came with bread. My absolute favorite thing of the night was the Stuffed Poblano ($15). I have never had a dish like this. It was amazing! It was stuffed with grilled chicken, queso, avocado, tomato, and feta and was accompanied by chips to dip. I definitely will be back to try some of the entrees! The food was delicious, the service was amazing, views beautiful, and the prices were affordable. Definitely check them out!

Yelp
Dinner at the Boathouse was excellent. Started with 2 dozen oysters followed by grilled redfish, grilled salmon, fried catfish and fried chicken. A couple of us had grilled okra and it was over the top good. We were too full for dessert but thoroughly enjoyed dinner. This is our 2nd time here and it was as good as we remembered. Well worth stopping in.

Yelp
Our experience was somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. My lovely bride and I stopped in for an early dinner (6pm) on a Tuesday night in August. The place was already close to full. We sat outside on the deck overlooking the Tennessee River, and it was quite beautiful and relaxing. We were hungry, so we started with the guacamole, onion rings, and fried okra. The appetizers were excellent. We decided to try their margarita mocktail, and it was stellar. My bride wolfed down the peel-and-eat Cajun shrimp, and I did the same with the cornmeal-crusted fried catfish. Service by Kadence was top notch. Boathouse is highly recommended!

Yelp
I went here on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty loud and crowded. My girlfriend and I had to wait about 15 minutes which isn't too bad. I got the Niman Ranch Brisket Burger with fries. This is a flavorful smash burger, with Swiss cheese, jalapeño relish, red onion and mayonnaise. It is a good burger for a reasonable price. Our waiter was friendly and took our orders promptly. Orders were received in a reasonable time. This is a popular restaurant, tastefully decorated in a nautical theme. I recommend and would go again. Get there early if you're going on a weekend. It packs up pretty quickly.

Yelp
Great location on the river and even the outdoors was warm as it's enclosed! We had delicious shrimp and oysters to start. Monday night is half priced oysters...only drawback to Monday is that they don't have any trout as that arrives Tuesday. But we survived and had ahi tuna. Amazing!!!! Dessert was a highlight too...such yummy key lime pie. Our server was professional, charming and friendly. Would love to go there again but sadly we are just passing through...

Yelp
Unbelievable food quality, service, & atmosphere! This place nails it every time. Beautiful sunset this evening on the Tennessee River!

Yelp
THE Boat-House The wife and sister and I "was out rambling or running errands on Saturday 8/30 we wanted to grab some lunch. I suggested the Boat-House and we all agreed on it, we walked in and was seated very quick, that is always a big PLUS especially on a Saturday evening at 5 o'clock. I ordered the Onion-rings for an appetizer they were very good just like homemade. For my entree I ordered the peel in eat shrimp which was big and fresh. I ordered a Key Lime pie for a dessert for the wife and sister they both thought it was Great! The food was very good the waitress (Rose) was awesome and she done a very good job. The Dining experience on the Tennessee River is always a great way to enjoy a meal with the family. With the Great Ambiance - On TN. River

Yelp
Every time I visit Chattanooga, I always make it a point to have dinner at The Boathouse. With its location being along the TN River and excellent food, it's a great spot to enjoy very good cocktails and an excellent meal! This time my wife & I went on Saturday, 7/26 around 6:30PM and anticipated a wait which this time was around an hour. The wait was almost right exactly an hour as the hostess advised. Even when we have gone during the week, we have had some small wait times so plan that into your schedule if planning on going to the Beachhouse..... it's worth the wait! We were seated outside with a view of the river. There are cooling fans so even though it was warm it was comfortable. We started out with the calamari which came with fried green beans and an aioli for dipping. Very good! I had the Ahi Poke bowl which came with a very nice portion of tuna, rice, avocado, cilantro, jalapeño's & other fresh veggies. My wife had the crisp fish taco's which she advised were very good! Two tacos were provided with a good amount of fish in each taco and ample greens to have that fresh flavor. As a dessert beverage the signature Ole' Fashion made with Chattanooga's own distilled spirit made by Chattanooga Whiskey which was a great way to close out our meal. In closing this review, kudos to our server Justin who was attentive & helpful during our visit. Also, I would rate closer to 4.5 stars. Till next time.....

Yelp
Great views and great food. Didn't know what to expect just parked to look at river and decided let's check it out. Very glad I did. To start very good view of River. Had the onion rings as an appetizer plenty leftovers for later. The breading was great and onions hot and crispy The sauce was very good. Had the catfish with French fries portion was small but catfish taste was superb. Tartar sauce was perfect The service was exceptional server was very understanding and helpful will definitely go try the place again

Yelp
The food was delicious! Everything we ordered was outstanding. The restaurant is huge!!!! It was bustling but our waiter Craig was outstanding. He knew the menu and gave us his attention and insight on the menu. We will for sure visit again. Best fish dish I have ever had. Could have eaten the green beans by themselves. Very nice Margarita! Don't miss out visit today!

Yelp
Outstanding. Came here on recommendation on a business trip and we ordered some shared plates and individual entrees. I opted to go healthy and got the rotisserie chicken salad, which I could not stop eating. It was my first time trying fried okra and it did not disappoint! My dinner guests also enjoyed their entrees. As it was summer, we were seated on the outdoor patio and enjoyed the gorgeous Chattanooga sunset during dinner. It was a great experience!

Yelp
This has to be in my top 10 favorite restaurants in the South. The service is always on point and the food is always fresh and delicious. You have to, HAVE TO get the New Orleans bbq shrimp. The sauce is divine and you'll want to dip all your food in it, nonetheless the juicy shrimp and bread that it comes with. Oysters are insanely fresh for being in TN. I prefer the fresh over their grilled ones. Their bbq is also fantastic, especially the nachos with that salsa. I'll always stop here when I come through Chattanooga.

Yelp
Four of us loved this place so much we went twice! Between us, we tried seven different dishes and enjoyed every single one. The food was consistently delicious, the river view is stunning, and both waiters were attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience here for a late lunch. There was barely a wait and we were seated indoors but still with a lovely view of the water. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, which helped a lot! He checked in with us every so often but not super frequently to interrupt our meal. Our food was amazing! My favorite was the trout almondine, which was so tender and juicy and the roasted almonds really enhanced the flavor of the dish. The salmon smashburger was also quite enjoyable - great tasting patty, not too dry and not overpowered with seasoning, and the pickles were a great pairing. The shrimp quesadilla was also very tasty, we really enjoyed the smoky flavor due to the woodfire grill. The sauce on the crab cakes was delicious, but the crab cakes themselves could have used a bit more seasoning. The grilled squid dish was very unique - you have to eat it heaped on the sourdough bread and dunk the bread in the sauce like the server recommended, that's the way it tasted best. The sauce was tangy and flavorful and brought all the components of the dish together. Would definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
The food is always spectacular, the service is top tier and there's always something special on the food and drink menus that they suggest that's always a delight. Both the indoor and outdoor seating options are spacious, clean, and each offer a phenomenal view of the river. This place is hands down MY FAVORITE restaurant in Chattanooga Tennessee, one of my top 5 places to eat in the south! Every part of the experience is the most fresh, flavorful, & fantastic you can experience in Tennessee on the river... I drive from Nashville ANYTIME I crave my faves from here.... It worth it for every moment and memories created here. Been coming since I was a child!

Yelp
Stopped here for an early dinner on a Monday and were thrilled that we came here! We started with 1 dozen Chesapeake oysters, which were fabulous, followed by the pork quesadilla, catfish tacos with fried okra, and tuna poke bowl. Even though out choices were a bit random, the food was spot on! All choices were seasoned well, nothing was greasy, and everything tasted great! Our favorites were the catfish and poke, but everything was great! The view of the river is great, and the service was great as well. So glad we stopped in!
google avatar

Debbi B.

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended. We ate outside and the view didn't disappoint. We had the calamari, a wedge salad, fried catfish and brisket dip. Everything waa so good. We couldn't eat it all. Our waiter was very attentive.

Yelp
Great lunch spot with a view! Stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar. First off--the view of the river is fantastic, and parking was a breeze (always a bonus when you're hungry!). The staff was friendly and helpful, offering great suggestions without being pushy. We lucked out with a half-off special on Chesapeake oysters when ordering a dozen--fresh, briny, and absolutely perfect. The Acapulco shrimp was light and refreshing, and the wood fire grilled squid had an awesome smoky flavor--both dishes were a hit. Overall, this was a quick stop that turned into a standout meal. We'll definitely be back. Five stars!

Yelp
I ordered the Rockefeller Oysters and Catfish dinner. Surprisingly the Catfish dinner was only $12 and good. I received good service and the food came out fast. I will definitely attend the Boathouse again.
google avatar

Kevin G.

Yelp
Place was packed at 6:30 on a Thursday. We opted to sit at the bar vs a 45 minute wait for a table. Our waitress at the bar was awesome. Sitting at the bar we got to watch them shuck oysters. Dinner and a show! We had the calamari, followed by fish tacos and trout almondine and wrapped up with keylime pie. The view here is awesome at sunset.

J C.

Yelp
Visited on 11/1/2025 @ 11:45 Server did an awesome job Got Brisket Taco, Chicken Chimichangas, Chicken Salad Sandwich. Fried Catfish - All was cooked to perfection Great view of the river Was clean Will be back

Yelp
Good place for a group. It was 6 of us and yes we did have to wait but they have plenty of room. You can wait outside or inside. We ordered a variety of seafood apps to share and they all came out fresh. The crab cakes were all crab little filler. The shrimp ceviche was one of the best dishes we had next to the brownie. That brownie is a must.
google avatar

Chom A.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal. Raw bar is a must. Both oysters and clams were fresh. New Orleans style BBQ shrimp and fried calamari were delicious. We wanted to order more food but the waiting time was too long on Saturday night. We got seated 25 minutes before the restaurant closed. Service was very strange. Our waitress kept walking away while we were ordering food. Not sure why she was in such a hurry to walk away after we only ordered one thing, walked away again after told her what we wanted for the second dish and then, walked away again when we ordered the third dish. We will definitely come back for food. Ps. We came back the next day (Sunday 06/09) and ordered a bunch of food! Cassandra, our waitress was amazing. Great service and great food. Two thumbs up
google avatar

Jay A.

Yelp
The appetizers are where it's at! Had the Loaded oysters and the bbq shrimp and both were fantastic. The service was great.
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
Started off with a Mojito. Todd was my bartender. I knew I wanted BBQ shrimp which was outstanding with the BBQ butter sauce. For my main course Todd talked me into the Texas brisket dip which had great taste in the au jus. It had red onion which enhanced the smoke flavor on the brisket. It came with fries and I opted to order a side of wood smoked mushrooms which were cut thin which helped each piece soak in the smoke flavor. 2 nights in a row! I'm batting .1000 in Chattanooga. I wouldn't change a thing about my meal including my seat in front of the shucking station. Todd did outstanding with drinks and food suggestions. Boathouse is on my short list for this beautiful laid back city. Cheers

Yelp
Really enjoyed our lunch here! We popped in while passing thru Chatt and got some happy hours drinks and a light lunch. Everything was great from the service, to the food, and the location. Just wish they had a few more vegetarian options! I still highly recommend!

Yelp
Busy place. Server was quick and attentive. Crab cakes and fried catfish were good. Husband also had grilled oysters and said they were decent.

Yelp
Went to Ruby falls and they recommended going here for lunch. Great suggestion as the food was spectacular and service was quick. Great view of the river. We had smash burger, chicken salad and shrimp poor boy. We started with crab cakes at the suggestion of our waiter. Best choice!!! So yummy and full of crab meat. Definitely need to come back.

Yelp
Great food and good service Even though I am allergic to seafood I enjoyed my experience with friends
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful chicken salad.....best roasted broccoli.....good shrimp po'boy....ice cold draft beer and excellent service. Even though it was a busy Friday afternoon, we were seated quickly and enjoyed our late lunch very much! Comfortable dining area. Will try the outside seating next time. Beautiful view of the river.

Yelp
We thought this place might be kind of a cheesy tourist trap, with its riverside location, and kind of kitschy decor. We took my in laws there thinking it was a great spot for older people. Well. It turned out that we all loved it!!! The food was delicious, the service was good, and the view was really good (the Iron Man was going on, so traffic was a nightmare, but kind of neat to watch while sitting lol). I loved my poke bowl and my family all had praise for their dishes. We will definitely be back!

Rebecca H.

Yelp
This is a "must stop" when visiting Chattanooga. The Oysters are amazing. The service is on point. The vibe is awesome!
google avatar

Joseph K.

Yelp
Great views and good food! Wood grilled Salmon had a lot of flavor. Not so much on the rice or black beans. Service was great even during rush. Overall a pretty good meal

Brad Z.

Yelp
This place could be much better with a brighter atmosphere and by avoiding peanut oil in their cooking. We had the chicken, which was over-salted and fried to a bland finish. I've also never seen someone serve canned beans over soggy rice - very unappealing. On the positive side, it's the only place where I've actually enjoyed baked oysters, so props for that. The drinks were weak, though. Overall, it's okay, but it could be great with a few key improvements.
google avatar

Zakia D.

Yelp
This place is always busy whenever I pass by. It's not too far from my boyfriend's job and he mentioned trying it. The wait time was FOREVER but it was on a Friday night. Parking is extremely limited too. It was like the hunger games trying to find a spot. Service was good about a 4/5. I tried the mojito and it seems to be a fan favorite but it was just okay to me. I usually order a blueberry mojito but they couldn't or wouldn't make it. The sweet tea was definitely done right! I started with a 1/2 dozen of oysters. Best part of the meal! We also tried their house salad with ranch it was very onion heavy or maybe the kitchen staff was in a rush and threw a bunch of sliced red onions on top. My boyfriend tried the fried catfish and fries. He rated it a 3/5. I had the New Orleans shrimp I give it a 3/5 as well. Portion sizes were great for both of us. We ended the night with a slice of Key Lime pie. Delicious! Now as for the views STUNNING! Chattanooga is a sitting photo opt and this place is a site to see as well. Even with the crowds it's a beautiful location with plenty of beautiful views. We will be back and try a few of the other menu items.

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant in Chattanooga. Fresh seafood, great service done right every time.

Yelp
The view and service was great. Food was mediocre and prices/portions weren't great. Food lacked flavor. The bread and olive oil appetizer had some spice but wasn't the best and the fish tacos included 2 tiny pieces of fish and absolutely no flavor.
