"How did it strike you on arrival? Behind the iconic Coca-Cola sign that dominates the main crossroads at Kings Cross, Larmont Sydney by Lancemore is a stylish high-rise getaway with lofty views of the city and harbour. The 24-hour reception area includes a cocooning breakout nook. Nice. What’s the crowd like? This central stay appeals to both business travellers and holidaymakers keen to explore bar- and restaurant-packed nearby Potts Point and Darlinghurst. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. Spacious, contemporary and inviting, the 103 rooms and suites were redesigned in 2016 by Australia’s Hassell studio. Seductive curtains, generous armchairs, grainy-wood desks, marble details and smart task lighting make for relaxed luxury. For an oasis in the city, Terrace Rooms have airy 25-square-metre private terraces, while Harbour View Rooms on the top two floors offer views of the distant water. Four Suites also woo guests with harbour panoramas (some with balconies or terraces). We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us? Backed by low headboards, King size King Koil beds combine MicroCloud toppers and feathery pillows for comfortable sleeps. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. "Formerly the Diamant. This hotel has changed management. Just a block east of the iconic Coca-Cola billboard that stands at the entrance to Kings Cross is the Larmont. This 76-room property—sandwiched between Potts Point and Darlinghurst—is surrounded by top-notch restaurants, funky bars, and notorious nightclubs. No surprise that it attracts an edgy crowd of mostly twenty- and thirtysomethings looking for a central crash pad after a night on the town. But the Diamant is a far cry from the hostels of “the Cross,” and it does welcome a number of business and corporate travelers looking for an alternative stay outside the financial district. The décor is moody, with velvety green headboards, dark mauve curtains, and black leather furniture. A black-and-white fleur-de-lis print in each room complements the monochrome images of the local area shot by Australian photographer Michael Collins. All accommodations are equipped with free Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, and iPads loaded with maps, restaurant tips, and newspapers."

the price is reasonable, location is perfect (close proximity to train station, restaurants and supermarkets) and reception staff is friendly. however, room cleaning is not consistent (better on some days, not so good on others), the evacuation alarm went off in the middle of the night when there wasn't an emergency, and some money was deducted off the security deposit of $200 despite us not having touched the minibar, and leaving the room in clean and neat condition. there was no notification or explanation about this mysterious charge. it was still a reasonably good stay despite all this and we managed to enjoy our trip staying here. thank you for your hospitality.

We had a wonderful stay here! The staff where incredibly welcoming, friendly and super helpful. The location was great, right near everything we wanted. The rooms where clean and the beds where incredibly comfortable and big!! We loved that we had complimentary access to the 24/7 gym, a 30 second walk from the hotel. Will defiantly be back to stay again. :)

The service we experienced at the front desk was top notch. Friendly, efficient, 5 star. However, the rooms are very dusty, the floors haven't seen a decent vacuum in ages and the bathrooms need to be re grouted. Location is great, but the windows don't seal well and you can hear all manner of noise during the night. The mattress was rather soft as well.

This place is one of the best hotels I've been to in Sydney - I can't fault it at all. Firstly - PUPPY FRIENDLY! The terrace rooms are fantastic, which a nice view of the streets and city below. For humans - the lovely people at front desk were extremely friendly. The price is actually amazing for all that you get - free yoga classes and access to Anytime Fitness gym, complimentary items from the minibar and late check out. They were also extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early as well. I also had a fantastic sleep - they have block out curtains and the most comfy bed I've slept in for a while. The rooms are clean and modern. This absolutely raises the standards for dog-friendly accommodation in Sydney. We switched over from Crown Plaza Coogee due to the average service as well as overpriced and outdated rooms which allow pets (some floors are newly renovated, but pets aren't allowed to stay in those rooms) I would absolutely recommend this place, especially if travelling with beloved fur babies.

This hotel is a great location for a great price! We had a beautiful view from our room which was modern and clean. The staff were all very friendly, and even left us a gift for our anniversary! Only niggles: our room wasn't ready when we first arrived (after check-in time) though we were given a later check-out for no charge to make up for it (upon request). Also, there's no separate bathroom in the room, the shower cubicle and toilet cubicle open onto the kitchenette, which felt a little cramped but a good use of space I guess!

We had a terrace room which was quite nice but the bathroom was not quite up to par... the toilet roll holder was coming away from the wall, the shower drain wasn't flowing properly and started to pool water on the floor whilst showering and the bath tap was dreadfully positioned, sticking out at your knee, when trying to shower. Having said that the staff were awesome. We were having a milestone anniversary and were given a late checkout free and received a bottle of sparkling wine and bunch of roses with a hand written card upon arrival in our room. A lovely touch. The reception staff were very helpful and attentive. Thanks for a great stay.

The hotel was pretty nice and neat. We booked a superior room and was upgraded with a balcony for being Expedia members. It also came with breakfast which is on the ground floor to the left of the entrance. The service was extremely good and there should really be nothing to complain about except .... The washroom had quite an odour coming from it. The bathtub, shower combination was poorly done. I didn't remember to have pictures taken but I kept kicking the bathtub faucet which is in the middle of the shower protruding to trap someone. Bed was pretty soft, a bit too soft for comfort and the pillows were a bit fat. Fat to flatten them before we sleep on it. Design: 8 Service: 9 Price: 8 Comfort: 6

Love this pet friendly hotel. We stayed in the terrace room as those are the ones that allow pets. Clean and spacious and the bed was exceptionally comfortable as were the pillows. Big balcony with a nice view of the city. Only lost a star as there could have been a patch of grass/fake grass for the dogs as there is no where to take them to in or near the hotel.

We chose to stay at the Larmont due to its location within Kings Cross - my sister was staying at Asylum just down the road, and we wanted to be nearby. Although the area has a reputation as being the bad end of town, we found it perfectly fine to stay in - probably wouldn't recommend wandering on your own in the wee hours, but that's true of certain areas in every big city. The area itself is nice, with plenty of nice cafes nearby, and it's only a short walk into the main sites of Sydney. The accommodation is lovely, with the sense of luxury you'd expect from a high-end hotel - huge beds, spacious rooms, plus carpets, deluxe bathrooms (no bath, but that seems to be standard in Australia). Our rooms were nicely made each day, and the reception staff were friendly enough. Some of the furniture was a little more worn than you might expect from a 4-star hotel, although this didn't cause a problem. The slight disappointment was with the view - while pictures had suggested we'd be able to see some of "Sydney's famous sites" from our Deluxe room, this certainly wasn't the case. To be fair, once we mentioned it they confirmed the room types had changed, and suggested the booking agent hadn't updated their information. But they honoured our booking and quickly moved us to an Executive room. From there we had a partial view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge - it was largely obscured by another building, but was much better than the first. Overall a good hotel if you're looking for a little luxury in Sydney, but I will explore other options when I return.

Our room looked nothing like the room in the pictures, but it was still pretty nice. The bathroom was a little small, but I loved the shower (rain shower head), and the shelf for toiletries behind the sink area. The bed and linens were very nice and comfy/cozy. We had a direct view of the bridge and opera house (although partially blocked by construction). The iPad was very useful. We did not get sim cards for our phone when we arrived, so we relied on the hotel wifi and wherever else we could connect in the city. I didn't find it to be a hinderance. There was construction so by around 9am we could hear drilling, etc. but it wasn't really an issue as we were getting up and around to start our day by then. There are no real amenities, that I was aware of, other than passes to the gym next door (if that's your thing). Unless your plan is to spend a lot of time at the hotel, then that's not really an issue. I usually end up not using most of them when I am playing tourist because I want to see and do things around the city. The staff was so-so. They weren't overly friendly or helpful, but they weren't rude either. We wanted late checkout but had to wait until the day before we left to ask for it's availability. I think ti was an extra $40. King Cross is a diverse area. Lots of food, clubs, entertainment options. Not sure if it is unsafe, but we returned late at night a few times and didn't feel unsafe. Positives: 5 min walk to King Cross station (about 15-20 minutes to circular Quay) Nespresso coffee maker (milk in mini bar fridge) Water heating pot iPad with free wifi Big flatscreen, but limited channels (no CNN International) Negatives: Construction No other amenities Tip: If you arrive late and just want to relax before starting out early the next day they have a food delivery service called Foodora (as well as others) that was reasonably priced and fairly quick with delivery.

The staff was AMAZING and went above and beyond to accommodate us. They provide 24 hour access to a great gym and there is plenty to do with walking distance including the opera house, restaurants, and night life.
