Larmont Sydney by Lancemore, Sydney, Australia - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"How did it strike you on arrival? Behind the iconic Coca-Cola sign that dominates the main crossroads at Kings Cross, Larmont Sydney by Lancemore is a stylish high-rise getaway with lofty views of the city and harbour. The 24-hour reception area includes a cocooning breakout nook. Nice. What’s the crowd like? This central stay appeals to both business travellers and holidaymakers keen to explore bar- and restaurant-packed nearby Potts Point and Darlinghurst. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. Spacious, contemporary and inviting, the 103 rooms and suites were redesigned in 2016 by Australia’s Hassell studio. Seductive curtains, generous armchairs, grainy-wood desks, marble details and smart task lighting make for relaxed luxury. For an oasis in the city, Terrace Rooms have airy 25-square-metre private terraces, while Harbour View Rooms on the top two floors offer views of the distant water. Four Suites also woo guests with harbour panoramas (some with balconies or terraces). We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us? Backed by low headboards, King size King Koil beds combine MicroCloud toppers and feathery pillows for comfortable sleeps. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? Rooms are set up for work or play, with iPads, smart TVs with Apple TV and Bose SoundTouch, minibars, and Nespresso machines or local T2 detox teas. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. Sleek, modern ensuite bathrooms include walk-in rainshowers and on-trend Australian Leif toiletries. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? Super-fast Wi-Fi is free. Room service: Worth it? Daily room service is available, or pop to The Hyde Restaurant, beside the lobby, which serves a relaxed, modern European menu (try banana hotcakes for breakfast or a gourmet burger for dinner). Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why? Helpful concierges can guide you to the best cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and markets in elegant nearby Potts Point or buzzy Darlinghurst. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. Brought your athleisure wear? Anytime Fitness center is open 24 hours next door, with Pilates and yoga classes nearby. There’s secure on-site parking for a daily fee. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? Travelling with your pooch? Terrace Rooms are geared up for canine companions, spoiling them with an outdoor deck, welcome treat, food and water bowls, and pet bed. Bottom line: worth it, and why? Kings Cross’s hedonistic nightlife strip may be nearby, but Larmont orientates more around chic adjacent quarter Potts Point. The CBD and pretty, harbourside Rushcutters Bay are also a short stroll away." - Sophie Davies
