Midtown Reader & the Piebrary

What a wonderful store! Courtney and her fabulous crew hosted a book signing for Gulf Winds Track Club's Kevin Langston and his book 67@67. From start to finish, Courtney took care of all the details and made us feel like VIPs. The bookstore is a marvelous place, not only to find books but also for unique gifts and stationery. I will return to Midtown Reader, and I will recommend it to my friends and family members. Thanks for a lovely evening and for being so responsive and caring, Courtney!

A cozy and calm gem in Tallahassee! Came here to study with some friends and was greeted with a wonderful experience worth a lot more than that. Their coffee was wonderful and perfect for someone with a sweet tooth, and their pies are a great experience to try. I recommend trying any of their coffee with strawberry flavoring. I got their blueberry pie and a white mocha/strawberry latte. Yum! Additionally, the crowd this bookstore/cafe brings in is wonderful and pure! I completely urge you to try this place once, because you will immediately want to come back. I am so glad I found a “third place” such as this!

August 23, 2025. 😔 The worst thing to do is have a joyous adventure reading and buying books, eating delicious pie and drinking yummy coffee ☕️ 😋 and not taking pictures. My kids enjoyed the outing before going to the Rodeo in Quincy. We all enjoyed a delicious treat, but I only remember what I had because they were busy reading or playing a game. I enjoyed my coffee and the keylime pie, two slices...yummy. Sad to say we went back a couple of weeks ago in October and the keylime is out for the season. I choose the chocolate pie, but not as flavorful as the keylime. I highly recommend this small cafe because the selection of books, cards toys, etc...is endless. Truly a joy to go here. Thanks staff for being so kind and helpful.

This is the most amazing book store. It has a huge assortment of books with that small town bookstore feel. The coffee shop upstairs is one of the best coffees in tallahassee. The staff are friendly and super helpful.

I can't say enough good things about Midtown Reader. Everyone on staff is extremely friendly and always very helpful. The owners have done a fantastic job at not only creating a great bookstore, but also a beautiful, comfortable space to hang out in (including the cafe/coffee shop upstairs)! Visiting here is always a unique experience. If your a reader, or even if your not, I highly recommend popping in here and taking a look around!

I ventured in one last time as I'm being relocated to Gainesville tomorrow. I finally got to try one of the pies from the Piebrary. I ordered a slice of Key Lime and declined on the scoop of ice cream (I was taking it to go). This is one of the most delicious Key Lime pies I've ever had. It has the right amount of tartness. The staff were extremely friendly and the service is quick. A slice of pie runs about $4, which isn't bad. It has an upstairs sitting area which you can enjoy your slice of pie, have a coffee and read your next future book purchase.

Midtown reader is one of my favorite bookstores because of the "Piebrary" that they have upstairs. Their lemon meringue and cookies & cream pies are to die for. I love how they have special drinks named after books. It really is the perfect place to stop for books, dessert, and beverages!

disnt know about the coffee shop inside here until recently and I wish I had known before.. incredible pie and even better coffee. Atmosphere is so calm my grandson loves coming here and I love a good cappucino

I love it here! They have a great selection of books. I've bought everything from local Florida reads, to coffee table books, to mystery from them and their staff is so friendly and helpful. If you want to order a book they do it really quick. The upstairs Piebrary is great for cozy reading or studying and the WiFi connection is great

A truly magical bookstore, with lovely little cards of recommendations written out for many of the titles. The young lady attending the store was so knowledgeable and gave me some great recommendations. Wish I lived near here - I'd be in every week.

Friendly staff was very helpful and had great recommendations! Love the cozy atmosphere!! I think I just found my new office away from the office!! If you are looking for local authors, there is a wide variety on display and our local writers are quite talented! Get to know them by starting here! Support local businesses and owners where the money supports our community rather than Bezos and his trips to outerspace. Unless he stays there....no. No, even then, please support local businesses.

What a cozy and well-stocked bookstore! A true gem in Tallahassee! Midtown Reader sits in the heart of Midtown, welcoming visitors in to peruse the shelves. Many books carry special handwritten reviews by the staff tucked into their pages and you even have the chance to write one for a favorite book for the next visitor! The space is on the small side, but has stocked everything from popular novels to children's books and books by local Florida authors. And, if you feel like hanging around and starting in on your new book, there is Lucky Goat coffee available, lots of space on the patio, and the Lucy and Leo's Cupcakery upstairs for a sweet treat. Midtown Reader offers their books to you with loving care, hoping you treasure them as much as they do.

The staff was friendly and there to help. They have a great selection and have staff reviews. The lady at the check out was super friendly. I stayed after I finished checking out to talk about an author with her . Definitely a must stop in Tallahassee

Cupcakes, coffee and a local bookstore. Who doesn't love that combo? It's nice to finally have a local bookstore as opposed to the big chain ones. They will also order you anything that they don't have in stock. I didn't try the coffee or the deserts but it looked pretty tasty!

So I've been looking to engage more in my reading and was tired of going to Books A Million and Barnes and Noble. When I was recommended to try this small intimidate book store I fell in love. I went to the bookstore to find 2 books but was only able to find and purchase one. Although they didn't have the other book I was looking for the staff was very effective in letting me know that they could order it as well as have it within 1-2 days. I def could see myself coming to this bookstore again and even coming to read and enjoy their coffee and cupcake shop upstairs. I love how this space is intimate enough to where it wouldn't be overwhelming with large crowds. It would even be a place that I could consider for having a book reading or intimate discussion after book club readings. Def look forward to coming back to purchase more books or even just to have a quiet day of reading.

GREAT bookstore in the heart of midtown--the only independent bookstore in TLH! Books are easy to find, and the store is welcoming and clean. Great place to stop in and browse or find your next book. It is in the Izzy (sushi)/Paisley Cafe building, and Lucy & Leo's (cupcakes) is connected inside! Parking in the back.

This is the local bookstore of your wildest dreams. They have the coolest curated selection of books in all different genres, the cutest cupcake shop on the second floor and the people who work here are actual angels. They can even order books for you if you would like! They will make suggestions if asked and are just so accommodating and helpful. The atmosphere isn't cluttered and they have a precious selection of children's books to include some in Spanish which I thought was pretty awesome!

This is such a cute bookstore! They have really cute greeting cards, notebooks, and planners as well. Midtown Reader is also the only independent bookstore in Tallahassee, so if you're in the market for a good book and like to shop local it's a must!

Friendly and well-stocked, this quaint little bookstore is sure to be a local treasure before long. They host live reading events, highlight books with handwritten personalized blurbs, and look good doing it. Seriously, it is an aesthetically pleasing business with a boutique feel. Whenever you are around the area, try to stop by and peruse. I am positive you'll find at least 1 new book you'll want to pick up and start reading immediately. One of my favorite parts of my visit was the fact I was greeted within 30 seconds of entering the store. Yes yes I know, all well and good...but it was a genuine greeting, not the canned type you get at chain stores. This authenticity will surely serve them well, as will the rest of their great qualities. I'll see y'all there, I'll be the one with the armful of new books.

I cannot praise Midtown Reader enough. I live nearby and always find myself in here for a new book. I love supporting local businesses, especially those that provide expert service. The staff here are so friendly and helpful, providing written and oral book recommendations. When I purchased a book for a Christmas present, they cheerfully wrapped it. Definitely my one stop shop for all my literary needs.

An absolute Tallahassee treasure! When I visit my daughters a few times a year, this is the first place I want to visit. Great selection of books with book reviews added to the shelves. I'm also impressed with their unmatched friendliness and their Covid policy. Can't forget the incredible coffee upstairs too! You HAVE to visit Midtown Reader! Such a cozy bookstore that brings so much joy!

Very good bookstore! I would have expected a small niche bookstore would have some sales or a little discount pricing, but everything was as much or more than B&N and BAM. Nevertheless, it is worth visiting and supporting.

I feel like this place has a lot of potential! But it's still very new and honestly kind of a mess inside. It's a weird complaint to have for a bookstore, but there are too many books on the shelves. It's hard to navigate and overwhelming to the eye. I guess I just want a little more curation and hand-selling from an indie bookstore. On a related note, the women who work here all seemed lovely and knowledgeable enough, but there was one guy who was super rude to me and my friends when we asked for some recommendations. I'll definitely come back, but I'll wait a little while and see if it changes at all. Oh, and the parking situation is an actual nightmare.

I like a bookstore with a wide array of staff picks to help me find something I know I'll love, and that's what you'll find here - detailed recommendations lining every shelf, each already stocked with an excellent and unique selection of books. They also just added an upstairs with more books and a coffee/cupcake shop. I guarantee you'll find something here.

I am so glad we have an independent bookstore in Tallahassee! They have a great selection of books from an assortment of genres,book related items, greeting cards, and gift wrapping. I love that they sell Frostbeard studio candles! The staff gave me great book suggestions for my friend's birthday gift and my own bookshelf
