KC was an overnight stop and we topped off our mini brewery tour with a coffee stout, which I had seen on their website. I thought what a fabulous idea to combine brewing coffee and brewing beer in one business! I HAD to try the coffee stout for which Rochester is its OWN collaborator. Didn't disappoint. Took advantage of Thursday's special Buy a Draft and get a free ($3.50) Taster of your choice. Delicious looking pastries were still available at end of day. Im sure their coffee is amazing. Laid back vibe invites locals to come for coffee in the mornings and Happy Hours after work. Check them out if you are in town.

Found out by accident. But what a great place!!! The people working there were very friendly and professional. As for the espresso,..... now one of my favorite! Thanks

Excellent coffee, tea and croissants! Both my partner and I loved the iced americano and blood orange tea had nice flavors. I don’t drink alcohol, so it’s too bad I can’t review their beers, but the menu seemed interesting. Their customer service was great and the atmosphere is cozy and clean. The outside parking was pretty easy.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of Chai Latte and Lemonade here. Both display a distinct flavor at a very reasonable price, especially for the area. Vibes are great for this area with tons of room inside if you’re coming as a group or want to be away from people. I really appreciate the late closing time as well, a solid choice if you need a drink late in the day.

We went to a work holiday event here. The staff is very nice. The event space is affordable and has a capacity of about 95 to 100. Has more of a coffee shop vibe than a brewery vibe but still great!

Great spot for coffee and beer! They always have a solid selection of craft lattes, teas, and seasonal drinks as well as an outstanding tap list for beer! Lots of space for groups or a great spot for studying. Highly recommended for all times of the day

I always love when coffee shops have space, and Rochester has a MASSIVE sitting area, especially for downtown KC! Tons of room to spread out if you're working solo or relaxing with a group. They also roast their beans right in front of you, so you get to watch the process and talk to the employees while it happens. Really good coffee and tea menu, so anyone can find something they like. I had the espresso tonic, which was super refreshing. Unique seasonal drink offerings too! I'll definitely be back to try some of their beer and cocktail selections!

I really enjoy spending time at Rochester Brewing Company, sipping coffee and just relaxing. It's a big, cozy place with lots of drink options both hot and cold and they also serve alcohol (mostly beers), though I've only tried their hot drinks so far. The shop is v close to downtown, so finding parking can be a bit tricky, but if you're lucky, you can get a good street parking spot nearby. As soon as you walk in, you'll notice the rustic vibe with a slightly worn-out charm with few exposed pipes, bricks and even a corner with coffee brewing equipment. There's also a wall near the entrance that has paintings from local artists for sale, and honestly all of them are incredible especially the Halloween ones. I have tried their drip coffee, London fog, and the pumpkin pancake latte and each one really hit the spot. The staff has always been very sweet and kind and is always ready to suggest or twice drinks as per your liking! If you're ever looking for a cozy coffee shop to work from or just chill, this is definitely the place. It can give you a quiet spot where you can concentrate and enjoy some good coffee at the same time.

Counter service ordering and pickup was a breeze. Ordered my caramel latte drink and tried to find out where the espresso was from but no one knew. The latte had 2 shots of espresso but the caramel flavor just wasn't impactful to combat the sourness for me. The space is very large and many areas for socializing, taking a beat, laptop work or perhaps event use.

I've been to a small number of coffee shop/brewery hybrids and...they usually struggle. Often they end up a jack-of-all-trades-and-master-of-none. I can't comment on the coffee here but, when I visited around noon, it was much more in "coffee shop mode" than "brewery mode" and there was a massive line. I'm assuming the coffee is good. I was here for the beer though. I got a thiolized IPA (thiolized beers are my favorite to brew, but you almost never see them brewed commercially!) and it had a juicy tropical *sparkle* to it. It was fantastic. I'd love to visit again when they are more in "brewery mode".

I think Rochester is so underrated especially for beer. Parking can be a bit tricky but it's worth it to circle the block a few times or to take a little walk. The interior is huge. Like tons of space and plenty of seating. In the summer, you can even sit outside. The service is always great, friendly, and efficient. They offer lots of different beer on tap. My favorites are the coffee stouts, or any other stout they happen to have. The sours are also great. I recently had a wonderful peach cobbler sour. They do offer 4 packs to go. I primarily come here for the beer but I've gotten coffee and pastries too. The coffee is always delicious and they have seasonal offerings that are fun. They also have bags of coffee that you can take home. The pastries are also great and it's fun to pair them with beer or coffee. Definitely check them out!

Coffee was tasty, I wished the blend was a little lighter. Just a personal preference though. Service was great. The staff is so nice. We came here on Saturday at 7:30am for the 816 run club meet up and there was a ton of seating and area. The vibes were great. Great coffee for a post-run fix.

KC peeps I found a gem off the Boulevard. Welcome to Rochester Brewing & Roasting Co A cute little spot that's not just a roastery, but also a beer brewery! Not to mention the food. I am a lunch girl so I had the spicy chicken bacon aioli. The flavor was amazing. A pressed sandwich perfection! My friend was ready for breakfast and had a breakfast burrito with a French toast latte that she loved. I love a food place that serves breakfast & lunch all day. Great layout and fun community spot for people to come together and be creative. As their website states 'Gather together here to work, study, learn and play.' Day or night they have a seat for you. And if it is a gorgeous day be sure to sit out front at one of the picnic tables.

We love this place! We probably go once a week. Nothing like going somewhere that starts your day with coffee and ends it with beer or an espresso martini. The staff are amazing, the drinks are delicious and the vibe is great too. Definitely recommend!

Lovely lovely coffee shop. I enjoyed the spring menu, ambiance and appreciate how large the shop is.

I love this place. It's a great spot to spend a long working lunch over 7 or 8 beers before catching an Uber back to the office. You won't regret it. The beer here is fabulous with options galore for every discerning palate. I haven't tried them all yet but judging from from the ones I have, there must be a brigade of fourteenth century Belgian monks in the back room brewing up delicious nectars as an homage to God. If, strangely, you choose not to imbibe during your working day, they will go ahead and roast their own coffee for you and serve up whatever caffeinated concoction you desire. The space is fairly large and wide open. Plenty of space for you and your laptop if you want to look like you're being functional while watching those awesome TikTok cat videos. The only downside is the giant wall of windows at the front. For a couple of hours every late afternoon, the seating area is bathed in majestic sunlight. Maybe not what you want, say, if you just read Macbeth and your outlook is currently dour. But, what is done is done. The servers are all super friendly, quick with a smile and a tasting sample. I will be quick to return.

Great place to grab coffee, sweets, and breakfast. Larger open seating area. I even saw a sofa. Service was good. I had the latte, it was smooth and pleasant. The breakfast items look delish. Recommend if you're looking for coffee or breakfast.

Whether you prefer coffee or beer this is a great place to work, study, hang with friends, grab a bakery treat, or watch a game, this is a great spot to check out. Needed a sweet treat so I headed back Sunday. Went with the cinnamon roll but it was so hard to choose. I highly recommend d the cinnamon roll.

They've got the vibe, the incredibly smooth espresso, the quality service and creative products. If I lived downtown, I'd be here all the time!! Good sized dining room too!

I stopped in here recently to have a meeting, get some work done, and try out their coffee. Overall, I was pleased with my decision to work from Rochester - it's a massive space so there is ample seating. The iced coffee I had was pretty par for the course. Nothing really notable to bring me back, but it was tasty and checked all the boxes. Next time I stop in I might opt for something more seasonal to see how those offerings compare to other local spots. I'd also like to return to try their beer - the space is really cavernous and I feel like it might be more fun to hang out here when it's filled with folks and has more of a bar like atmosphere. It was a little cold feeling, for my taste if I'm going to hunker down and work for a while, but I think it would suit a tasting room perfectly.

It's good to see more coffee options expand across the Crossroads and downtown, over all the years. The coffee here was good, the space is large and open and airy, and it's good for meetings. The bummer was that I didn't feel particularly welcomed by the service, and my cold brew took almost fifteen minutes or so from trying to order to receiving it, and it was not very busy inside. Everyone has a bad day, and I can respect that. But in an era where coffee costs what lunch used to, and I can make it pretty darn good at home, I'm sort of banking on semi-positive vibes at bare minimum, and definitely didn't get that here. The WiFi was good for a video call after my meeting, and again there are tons of places to sit, both inside and even a few tables outside. Probably won't rush back but I think it's an overall solid offering to the coffeeshops in the area.

The customer service here was phenomenal. The folks that greeted us were so kind and immediately offered to let us try beers. The ambiance is cozy and creative with it being inside a train car. I will absolutely be back!

This is one of my go to spots to get work done in (especially because they are open late!) Wish I could be there more often but I BEG YOUUUU to please fix your wifi!!! I've been going in consistently for a while but the wifi is never working so I've sadly had to cut down. Love the rotating sours/cider and the Kyoto cold brew is life changing! Please fix your wifi pleaseeee

I have came here a couple times now, the place has good coffee and lots of seating. I am giving it a 1/5 stars due to the constant internet issues, and because of a recent interaction I had with the staff. I had asked for a refill on a cup of hot water (3rd time) with no issues the first 2 times, but apparently I was "cut off" on hot water. I was told to purchase one of their teas instead of refilling my own tea cup. I had already spent 7 dollars on a late earlier in the day, and once I told them this, only then it was okay to get a refill of hot water on my drink. It is legal in this city to deny customers water, I understand that, but it felt quite shitty for a business to do this especially when it was relatively slow and the baristas are just on their phone. I have yet to been denied hot water, and in fact have been asked at other coffee shops what type of tea I am drinking. Pretty sad behavior coming from an establishment with pride flags and "welcome" signs everywhere.

Such a great spot! We had a group of 6 adults and 2 teens and we all really enjoyed our visit here. Some of us even tried 2 different lattes during our visit because we were all enjoying our drinks so much. We only were able to try one beer on this visit, and it was really good, so I am hoping we can come back to try more. It was also super convenient that they had food for our hungry crowd and everyone loved what they got. I got the grilled cheese and it was fantastic. I look forward to coming here again!

One of my favorite coffee shop in the crossroads! This place is spacious, coffee is always good and consistent. Service is quick and friendly! Definitely a solid place to get yourself a cup of coffee!!

Rochester has quickly become my favorite coffee shop in KC. It's a perfect place to study for long periods of time - plenty of outlets, more than enough seating, and lots of natural light. I've found that when it comes to studying, a lot of other coffee shops tend to play their music very loudly, but Rochester does a good job of keeping it at a moderate level. When it comes to drinks, I have always enjoyed my coffees here. They have seasonal drinks as well, and I have always been pleasantly surprised by them, so be sure to check for updated menus! While there is a lot of seating, there is limited seating in the front room where most of the natural light is, and the back room is a bit dimly lit, so I will say that if you're trying to get a seat with natural light, it may be a little more difficult. MY BIGGEST TIP!!!!!! Follow their instagram and check before going, especially on weekends. They are a popular venue for events, so they post closures on their instagram. I learned the hard way.

Great amount of seating. Plenty of caffeinated drinks, both lattes I ordered were amazing. Mentioned to the cashier that it was my first time there and they took the time to explain the menu and pastries.

Contrary to another review, this is NOT a dog friendly establishment. I read an earlier review citing that it was, so I brought my dog with me and was asked to take him off the property. They were kind about it. If you're coming in to pick up and to leave, they do allow for that. I'll have to come back next time, wasn't able to get anything.

I went to Rochesters twice in one day, to pick up coffee and a pastry for my boyfriend in the morning and to meet a gal pal after work for a glass of wine and for that I love Rochester! I love a coffee shop vibe so any that allow me to come back in the afternoon and evening is a win win for me! Rochester is just a unique experience and I've yet to have an average beverage! The location is great for meetings, girl time or just some alone time! I will say parking can be a little tricky but that's really the only down side! Service has always been great and on several occasions I've heard baristas ask customers if they want their usual so that says to me that they care to remember orders and people are coming back consistently! This spot stays on my meeting spot list!

I mostly come for the beer. I do enjoy Rochester coffee on a Saturday morning accompanied by a pastry. Since the option is there, sometimes I'll grab an early beer to compliment a cup of black coffee. It's a great place with a ton seating and I've been coming since they opened. I even got my dad hooked after I gave him a gift card for Father's Day.

Kind, quick service. Big space. Very warm and inviting! Love their dessert selection, always. The bananas foster latte is divine!

Huge place! Wow. Can definitely throw events here. Super cool space. Came here early morning for a meeting. Got the seasonal butter scotch or something coffee and towards the end it got a little odd. The liquids started separating and it looked greasy for some odd reason but it tasted good in general. Donut was great. Would love to come back and try their other food because they have food food here too. It looked like a lot of people were working here as well. ‍

Great service, yummy latte, and delicious pop tart-like pastry! Lots of table/seating options and many outlets (one of my favorite features in a coffee shop). Extra back room seating also available. WiFi was pretty slow so difficult to watch lecture videos and take online quiz during study session but everything else pretty great!

This is a nice spot and it was my first time checking it out with some friends. Needed a place to work and planned things out. I tried their lemonade, it was refreshing especially on a hot day. They have a nice intensive menu. Cool place to relaxed, work, catch a nice date at. Would come here again.

Came for a free drink in honor of election day! The French Toast Latte was nice and hot. There's ample space to get work done, but we had to sit outside because the music was so loud. Just something to be aware of if you're wanting to study!

Visited Rochester Brewing on the Tour de Bier charity ride organized by BikeWalkKC on September 18th, 2022. Great selection of home-crafted beers! I especially liked their Shandy which was really good. They have a nice sized drinking and dining room inside and serve up coffee and espressos too. Their menu includes breakfast selections as well as sandwiches for lunch.. The staff are great and will help you with the right selection of beer just for you. Check it out!

Coffee was not very warm but was still very flavorful! Great atmosphere to study/work but WiFi doesn't work well, unfortunately.

Beer and coffee = yes. I came for coffee and danish and was very happy. First time I come to coffee place I just get drip coffee - set the bar! Their is strong and full of deep flavors. The cream cheese danish was perfect - sweet cheese Some did order the breakfast burrito and it looked wonderful, so next time.

You can tell this is a local spot. I hit this brewery up for a flight and the samples were pretty good. You can tell a lot of locals hit this place up for coffee and a lite breakfast also.

This place has a nice comfortable atmosphere. They have plenty of seating with a large bar and a couple of tvs in the front area as well as a massive back room. They have an extensive tea selection to go along with the coffee and beer. Their food menu looked really appealing and the prices seemed reasonable. I feel like they are covering a lot of bases and should do well. I would easily return to try out their lunch menu and if you need someplace to work, they seem like a great choice with anything you might need readily available.

Good selection of breakfast burritos. Good espresso. Staff are friendly. Tons of open space to work. Music is sometimes good and fun. Personally, I think pop music, or nineties mellow music or alt soft rock is great. It's easy listening, familiar, and good background music. However, one time I was in there, and I felt like the music was SO distracting and annoying (2 pm on Thursday 8/24): think loud hotel lobby music, then a song where a kid is playing a kazoo (badly), then an African drum circle, then a saxophone playing with a wind chime orchestra, then a jazz performance ... just bizarre for a coffee shop and annoying. I felt like I was listening to songs and sounds from old documentaries. I left. Maybe have a standard playlist or approved Spotify radio stations? Just a suggestion.

Rochester is neatly hidden between other businesses, and parking is a complete nightmare. I had to drive around for about 10 minutes before I could secure a parking space for my already compact Q3. Current construction on Southwest Blvd didn't make the entire situation any better. Once parked I was able to walk a short distance, into the shop and waited no longer than 2 mins max. I wasn't able to browse their menu as I had already made up my mind with me usual, a 12 oz for $6.55.. Vanilla latte with Oak milk.made my way to an ample amount of space for small, medium, and large groups nearer the end. After waiting a reasonable amount of time I received my order and was quite surprised at how good it was! The presentation and aesthetic of the coffee was my favorite part. Rochester deserves your time, I recommend it.

Great lattes & breakfast items (specifically the milk & cookies latte and breakfast burrito!), beautiful atmosphere with tons of space to either chat with friends or get some reading done. I haven't had a chance to try the beer, but can't wait to go back to do so. Love this concept and location!

Currently the only combined Brewary & Roastery in Kansas City. I visited on the same day for coffee and a pastry in the morning and a flight of beers in the evening. Really enjoyed the Honduran pour over and cheesy croissant. For my flight I had the dry mead, the spiced coffee brown, the black currant sour, and the farmhouse wheat. The Brown was really good! Parking was ample in the morning, and a little harder to find in the afternoon, but I still ended up less than a half block a way. The space is inviting with tables and bar seating. There is also an event space in the back. I think they've only been open a year, but seem like an up and coming place. I met several employees and everyone was really personable and excited to talk about their coffee and beer.

Another great addition to the KC coffee scene. This is probably the best brewing/roasting combo we have visited. You walk in and immediately it feels like "Cheers", everyone smiles and welcomes you. It is huge inside and there is plenty of seating for any occasion. It is fairly quieter at the front because towards the back it is a parent's paradise. A corner of toys for the kids! The coffee is smooth and roasted in house. Any drink you want, they can make. Coffee, espresso and tea as well as all your favorite milk alternatives. They also offer Scratch breakfast burritos (veggie, chorizo, sausage and bacon). Along with Scratch pastries. Beer service starts at 9am. They had a great variety on the menu. They do not offer other food items yet but you are welcome to a pastry or burrito anytime of day. We grabbed one of our drinks from the counter and our pastries but they delivered our other drink and burrito along with glasses of water. Great perk because we ended up buying a beer glass because we liked it so much. They sell their beans and t-shirts as well. The space would be perfect to host an event. Restrooms are clean and big to accommodate a full house. Excited to go back and try the beer.

I can't say enough about this place. Amazing coffee complete with your standard offerings plus amazing seasonal drinks, my favorite being Fall's French Toast Latte. Amazing beer from triple IPAs to Hefeweizens to stouts, they're tasty enough for a pint (or two) or a flight to try them all! Service? Friendly, knowledgeable, courteous to both strangers and regulars like myself. They are welcoming to all and genuinely want you to enjoy yourself. Their space is one of the best, hands down. The vibe in the front is great for a date, a meeting, studying, playing cards with a friend, or just hanging out at the bar talking to the beertender/baristas. They have a very large event space that can be rented out for a reasonable price, perfect for showers, parties, and even nuptials. They host trivia night every Tuesday and just added Bingo for Mondays. They've started having live music as well, supporting local artists. I tell all my friends and coworkers about Rochester and bring every out of town visitor here as well. Their hours are great and it's overall an incredibly inviting and great place all around.

I love coming to Rochester! Every time I come here (which is pretty frequently) the atmosphere is a straight vibe. I normally try a different drink every time (the baristas work MAGIC) and it's delicious every time. I normally get their Italian panini- ugh I can't praise this panini enough! Rochester has a variety of seating, my favorite is their gorgeous emerald couch or their picnic tables out front! They seem to have themed cocktails & coffee pretty often which I think is pretty dope. One thing that stands true no matter how often I go is their service. The people who work here are kind and helpful (especially when you don't know what you want) So, if you haven't been, I encourage you to RUN and experience the Rochester for yourself.

The wife was not feeling it was beer time, so I found a Brewery that also did coffee. This establishment is near Union Station in KC and had a good selection of beers and wonderful coffee (her words, as I am not a fan). We caught them right before they closed for Christmas eve. Of the beers I sampled I enjoyed their Montmorency Cherry Sour and their Pear Cider the best. Hope to spend more time here on future visits to Kansas City.

I noticed a special that they had BOGO beer so my friend and I came here after lunch to get some beer and coffee. The waitress was very friendly but had a hard time understanding our order. She recommended a beer after asking what style I liked and I thought it was okay. I ordered the orange creamsicle IPA and it was decent but not my favorite. I am sure there are other IPAs would be good and I will definitely try it on my next run there. My friend ordered their coffee beer and it was excellent. It had the right amount of bitterness and roastiness with booziness. It was very well balanced and probably one of the better coffee beers I have had. We ordered coffee after that and my friends latte turned out good. I decided to experiment with the cascara coffee and it was not my jam. It had an acidic taste that resembled tea but overly bitter and not as roasty as I expected. The environment is cool and clean and has ample space for you to work or chill. It was a relatively quiet environment as well which was nice. I would probably go somewhere else for beer but the coffee is good. I will be sticking to classics on beer and coffee there from now on.

Love this place. It's so big and is the perfect place to work because it isn't loud. Their nitro iced chai is unbelievable. They also have a really good breakfast burrito.

As a student always in search of a a prime study spot, I was thrilled to find Rochester Brewing and Roasting co. Id say I'm a patron to the "roasting" aspect of the dual identity spot. During the morning/afternoon hours, Rochester has a very mellow vibe to it. I can actually study here!!! There are two sections: The front (has more activity with the register/coffee makers etc, while the back(has less activity and has a more secluded feel). They have a chess board, cornhole and a little play area for kiddos. I love the open design of Rochester. It feels airy with plenty of space to roam. There is plenty of separation between neighboring tables as well. Only downside is that the wifi is a little on the slower side; not idea for streaming. Bottom line: Wonderful study cafe.

I needed a place to get some work done that was open until 10pm on a Saturday night and found this gem (thanks Yelp!). Since it was the evening I opted away from caffeine and tried the butterfly pea tea... Just lovely. The person whom I think may have been the manager or owner offered me a sample of the butterfly pea palmer that they make (delicious), and then the staff offered me some baked goods that they would have to otherwise throw away at the end of the night (awww yeah... fancy pop tarts!) I enjoyed the music and the atmosphere and was able to get quite a bit done on the strong wifi for the 90 minutes I was there. I'd really be interested to return and try the coffee since they are known for it, so this review is definitely for the atmosphere, tea and mainly the staff.

Came here for breakfast and coffee. Burritos were delicious and filling. They also had an assortment of donuts. Their coffee was bold in flavor though not as bitter as a French roast. $3.75 for 16oz, $4 for bottomless. The place is large and has a lot of seating. It was not too loud despite the crowd. The venue area was large with lots of seating. Bathrooms were clean. Oh and they are dog friendly! I saw multiple people bring their dogs in.
