Smash Mouth BBQ

Ordered at front. Expensive brisket sandwich was very fatty and cold temperature. Served on white bread instead of at least a hamburger bun. Small sides were $3.99 each and very small portion. Smoked cabbage and baked beans were good. Mac and cheese and corn on cob no good. Pulled pork sandwich okay but ground pork sandwich not okay. We ate outside on patio as the music on the inside dining was too loud. Every napkin holder outside on patio was empty. It was 12:30 pm and we were the only customers they had. They also charged for water so the overall cost was almost $60 for three people.

As a dasher picked up an order at Smash Mouth BBQ. I had heard of it but never dined from there. It was the smells that piqued my curiosity to push me to give their food a try. When I say I have no regrets of doing so. Ordered 2 Brisket Dinners with Smoked Cabbage & Collard Greens for my partner & myself, Pulled Chicken Dinner with mac & cheese & collard greens for our daughter. First all the food arrived still hot as if it had been freshly prepared. So A++ on that note. Secondly, I can cook a mean fried cabbage myself but never have I ever thought cabbage can be smoked too. Lawdhamercy is all I can say about that Smoked Cabbage Smash Mouth makes. It's now become #1 of my fav comfort food list. Don't get me wrong the collard greens & Brisket was that beast too but it was the smoked cabbage for me 😋🥰🫶🏾🩷 So good I think I'm not addicted to it lol 😅 keep up the wonderful job you do in that kitchen! Also, note that when I picked up an order there, I observed the cleanliness of the dining area & what I was able to see behind the counter.

First time ever going to Knoxville, got a recommendation to eat here , we ordered a few dinner plates. Ribs, pulled pork, brisket and a sandwich..so I had the brisket its sliced, tender ..everything you want in brisket..flavor was decent my sides was smoked cabbage and collard greens ...cabbage was on point the collard greens had way to much black pepper almost to over powering the flavor , still ediable but I think if they tone down on it the greens be spot on ..all in all we all enjoyed our dinner . Oh and let the owner know he needs to add a #30 Terrell Davis denver broncos jersey to his wall he was the best running back ever 😆

Bad experience via delivery. I ordered the $30 platter on DoorDash. The sides were decent but the main meats were horrible. In the pictures you can see the state of the wings, no meat and very overcooked. Felt like biting into stone. The pulled meats were cold and soggy. It was delivered in a reasonable time frame so cant blame it on long delivery time. I would not recommend.

Smash Mouth BBQ in Knoxville Tennessee is a good barbecue place Powers a secret recipes, passion and heart! The variety of meats available, and the side dishes that are extensive. I had the brisket colored greens a roll and red beans (however I ordered smoked cabbage was mistakenly substituted with red beans) The brisket was good… I have no doubt it would’ve been better. Had a not waited for 2030 minutes while I went to my next stop. The collards were amazing. And I wish I got the opportunity to try a smoked cabbage. Shell was awesome! She helped me through my transaction navigating the menus and choices. Super friendly… This place is really old school… Worth a try

Great local place with amazing pulled pork, and corn bread you will love! Live music is also affordable outside in a really nice back yard setting. This was a nice surprise as you can't see this amazing space from the road. Don't just drive by, as it is worth a stop for sure! It might not look like much from the road, but it's a great place to eat, drink, and catch the game. Plenty of TVs around as well as memorabilia on the walls. I really want to come by and try the meatloaf next time, but we went with one of the sampler platters, and there was plenty of food for 2.

My partner and I wanted BBQ and have never been here, so we thought we'd give it a try. We went for their platter, so we could get a bit of everything. Their pulled pork was absolutely delicious! It was tender and juicy. The mild BBQ sauce was amazing! It was sweet, with a little kick to it. We ate it up and got some to take home to finish off the pulled pork! The baked beans and potato salad were banging! We'll definitely be back to eat.

We got pulled chicken and pulled pork, with greens and mac&cheese and it was fantastic. 10/10 would recommend. The inside was very clean and had great music playing while we ate and enjoyed watching the game on TV. 3 of us ate

Smash Mouth Barbeque Sports Bar & Restaurant has a wonderful all smoked menu. Their famous Barbeque pulled chicken with their amazing triple cheese Mac & cheese is really good. This is the perfect place for any game day or family gets together to enjoy southern smoked Barbeque pit flavor meals. The Banana Pudding Custard needs a blue ribbon for the best dessert on the planet. This amazing made from scratch Banana Pudding Custard needs to be sold, by the spoon.

The smell = meat and beans heaven! The prices = small town fairness. The staff = hospitality royalty. The vibe = there is one and it's familiarity + love + neighbors + pride. Specials look like great deals, too. It's very clean. There are maybe a dozen parking spaces. All too close together. They use napkins and folded paper towels like you get at a picnic or cookout. The burgers next door pretty much come with cheese and/or onions. I don't know what was in that to-go cup, but it wasn't the Coke I requested. It was soooo sweet. Maybe a splash of tea and lemonade and 10 Oz of pure sugar in a 12 Oz cup? Trust when i say that's it's another sign if legit bbq. I've only had a burger so far. It was greeezy, juicy, cheesy, and delicious. I've driven by a few times. This has been inevitable and now I want to be a regular. You know when you find little places that are absolute gems and you know immediately? That's what it's like here. Time slows down. There's a bustling sub-metro outside, but here it feels like you just got home and hit the couch with nothing else on the to-do list for the day. They cook like they have something to prove. I'll be back. Hopefully often.

Everything was good. It was quick turnaround after I payed for my food. Ribs are good and tender. I would have liked some more seasoning but it's good. Cabbage was my favorite. The greens were good as well. Old fashioned cornbread and real banana pudding. I was greeted with a warm southern greeting. I would come back again if I were in the area. It's a little hidden but visible.

I brought my family (14) last Wednesday night and everyone said that Smash Mouth BBQ is now their favorite BBQ place in Knoxville. We had two slabs of ribs, pull chicken, 2 hotdogs and five sides. The smoked cabbage, Mac and cheese and greens went fast. I took home some ribs and chicken and had three more meals. Very good deal.

Stopped in for a quick dinner after reading the reviews on Yelp. Really just not very good BBQ. I love brisket and it tasted like they heated it up in the microwave because it was rubbery. Not very good flavor either. I wanted to like this place since it was clearly a neighborhood spot -- it just wasn't very good. The potato salad was OK.

Went here one weekday evening recently. Smallish parking lot out front with the smell of marijuana in the air!? Anyway, we went in for some takeout and the place was empty, although think we heard some people out in the yard, despite the frigid temperatures. I got the brisket dinner and my wife got the turkey leg and coleslaw. The turkey leg wasn't that big, was dry, and pretty much needed the included BBQ sauce to be edible. I didn't try her coleslaw. My brisket was 3 very thin, rubbery slices that I needed a steak knife to cut. The BBQ sauce they'd included (on the side) was just the usual, gloopy, generic stuff; definitely not "house made". For sides, I had chosen Smoked Cabbage and Mac 'n Cheese The smoked cabbage was basically fried cabbage with a couple of slices of smoked sausage in it. The mac 'n cheese was dry and obviously reheated. Similar food to Buddy's BBQ (which isn't great either) and is not worth the trip out into the sticks.

Giving 4 stars. I picked up a large order for carry out. Most was packed well but my pulled chicken and pulled pork were in long foam (hot dog style) containers. All the good juices leaked out so the paper bags they were in were soaked and that made the meat dryer than usual. I let them know and hopefully they will rethink the containers. We love their food, kind of pricey for the amount you get but it is Delicious !

We've lived nearby for a few years and finally tried Smash Mouth BBQ! Really incredible food at reasonable prices! The staff was great, the food came out fairly quickly and hot. Everything was great. I got the ribs which were fall off the bone tender. Besides the ribs the potato salad was my second favorite! Definitely important to celebrate and support great small businesses. 10/10 we're eating here as often as we can!

I saw a review on Yelp about this place. I wasn't aware that is was even there. Barbecue is my favorite thing to eat, so I had to check it out for lunch today. We got two large pork bbq sandwiches, potato salad, cabbage and a pound of pork bbq. It was all delicious! The bbq had an awesome smoky flavor, the sides were really good. I tried their hot and mild bbq sauce. They were both delicious! We will definitely be back! We wish we would have found this place earlier!

Blown away! Don't know how else to put it. What appears to be just another BBQ spot in an odd location turned into a hidden gem! The wings are second to none I'm a die hard "wet" wings guy and although the homemade BBQ sauce was delicious I couldn't bring myself to use it! The banana pudding was just icing on the cake. The owner and employees are great and very outgoing was made to feel more like family than a customer we had a blast having casual conversation during the meal. The menu has so much to offer I can't wait to return frequently and try them all, just couldn't get past the wings last night! Prices are fair for the food quality no complaints there! Look for the specials always something going on! Casual dining but above average flavor!

This is a small business with huge business food and atmosphere. Dining area is clean and comfortable. Also have a great outdoor dining space. The food is delicious.. like slap your momma delicious. The people are so friendly. They have a large menu so plenty of optios to choose from. I have been several times and tried something different everytime and not one item has been bad or disappointing. Pricing is excellent and you will not leave hungry. Don't forget to grab a piece of cake.

Server was wonderful. Order pig burger. Undercooked. Bun fell apart immediately. Had to eat with a fork as it fell apart. Sat at a table with ash tray full of cigarette butts. Very expensive. I want to give these nice people a second chance.

The pulled pork sandwich was really good -- juicy, smoky pork went really well with the house-made barbeque sauce, and the bun was a high-quality piece of bread that went well with the meat. I liked the baked beans, too -- more savory and smoky than the usual batch of sweet beans at ordinary barbeque places. The pickle on the sandwich was sweet, so if you don't care for that, ask them to leave it off. The service is excellent. But the cole slaw was not my favorite kind; the cabbage was pulverized, and the dressing was very watery and sweet. I think they also put sweet pickles in the slaw -- sweet pickles and a lot of pulverized onion. I prefer a tangy cole slaw with a creamy dressing. It really is a matter of taste; nothing wrong with sweet cole slaw; just not my kind of thing. Dear Husband got the beef brisket sandwich -- it arrived on Texas toast, I think, and he would have preferred a bun. He also got smoked cabbage and macaroni & cheese for his sides; he did not say how any of it tasted, but he devoured every last bit, so he must have enjoyed them. Sadly, the two servings of banana pudding that we purchased came home with only two slices of banana. Each container had one banana slice. One container (mine) had three vanilla wafers; the other had two. The pudding was very good, but if I had not had a banana in the fruit bowl, it would have been vanilla pudding with a garnish of banana. I added some banana before I finished off the dessert. We have to go back -- I need to try the chicken and the ribs, but I *really* need to try the potato salad. After that, I might get my own side dishes ready at home and just purchase smoked meat at the restaurant. Because it really is good!!

This place is awesome. Brisket is so moist. Smoked bologna is on point. The greens are the best I've had. Can't wait to go back!

I love supporting local businesses. Unfortunately the food was not good. The back patio was dirty and not inviting. However, smash mouth burger is ran by their cousin and is awesome.

I tried Smash Mouth for the first time and decided to get the pulled pork. I had already gotten pulled pork from Archers and thought it would be a good time to compare the two. The whole family liked the pulled pork from Smash Mouth best. Even the BBQ sauce was better than Archers. The meat was moist, and full of delicious Smoky flavor. It was delicious without any sauce even. I will definitely be going back to try the other items on the menu. And it was even cheaper than archers!

I've been here before and normally the food is great, honestly it's the service that is the issue. Some women with bright blonde hair was rude as heck to me when I went in to order. I won't be going back.

Smash Mouth BBQ is so so good. I love smoked Turkey legs and they have some good smoked legs. I am going to make a bold statement and say "Best" banana custard in the area.I am so glad I was able to stop at this amazing BBQ place.

Loved the pulled chicken bbq sandwich. The men working were nice, great smiles and humor! The baked beans were good. Will be back for sure!
