The most authentic Taiwanese food I have ever had in the United States. Quality and taste are spot on. Each dish is prepared with extra care, with all details met. Each bite brings back memories of my childhood. This is truly one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in the US, and a MUST try.

Easy parking lot parking. Here for a friday lunch. Parents felt green beans were a little soggy. Could be harder to source fresh vegetables in reno. Boba was good. Fried chicken lunch was ok. The fried chicken pieces were a bit small but I was plenty happy with the meal. My parents come here to gamble so we will probably be back. No wait. Only 2 other tables here when we came.

Everything we ordered was delicious! We will definitely be going back. The menu is huge and it was difficult to decide what we wanted, because everything looked great. The braised pork belly and the pork belly bao were fantastic, as was the scallion pancake. And the breading on the crispy pork and crispy chicken was phenomenal! The meat was super tender and flavorful. This dining experience honestly felt like we walked into someone's home kitchen. We loved it!

Good all the time. So delicious. One of my favorite locations for a quick lunch or a dinner. My favorite meal is the braised beef over rice. We love it so much that we came over here Thanksgiving last year. As you can see, I ate all of it because it’s so delicious. We love this place. Thank you for the great service and delicious 😋

I came to get a quick solo dinner after reading some great reviews. The beef noodle soup was indeed delicious and came out almost instantly. The service was efficient and kind, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Highly recommended!

I set up a team dinner here for ~20 people from my work. They were easy to book, great service, and the food was delicious. The food came out quickly and it was great to try things that were new to all of us. I recommend the popcorn chicken and the spicy eggplant. There were vegetarian options

We came pretty late at around 8:15pm and asked if it was too late for the kitchen to serve us. We were totally prepared to leave if it was. They told us it was okay and seated us. The server then proceeded to rush us through ordering and admonished us that the kitchen was closing soon. I get that he was stressed but we ordered within ten minutes of sitting so it's not like we were sitting there for ages deciding. If we had known that the kitchen was closing up already we absolutely would not have tried to squeeze in a dinner, but that's something the front of house should have communicated to us if that was an issue. They could have just told us that the kitchen was closing soon so we could choose whether to stay or eat, but seating us was telling us that it was okay to order. I didn't love the service in that aspect, but the food definitely came out quickly. We ordered the zha jiang mien, beef noodle soup, and pork with bamboo shoots. Beef in the soup was a little dry and soup was a little salty, while the zha jiang mien didn't quite have enough flavor. Stir fry was pretty good though. I'm giving four stars mainly for the food. Definitely still a pretty decent spot for Taiwanese in Reno though.

1. Service is pretty good. The food serving is quick without much wait. We were checked upon twice. But not that outstanding 2. The vibe is good. Decoration is pretty Taiwanese flavor. 3. The food experience is mixed for us. The popcorn chicken is very very good! Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The braised beef noodle, which is supposed to be their flagship dish, is absolutely disappointing. Worst one we had ever. The beef is hard instead of tender. The soup is salty and without any beef aroma (just like made of soy sauce + salt instead of any beef soup). This is really the biggest failing point. The noodle itself is good and taste like authentically handmade. I think it is still good place to go for Chinese/Taiwanese food. But lower your expectation please.

The Braised Beef Noodle Soup was well-seasoned, fresh, and came in a generous portion. Our server, Kate, was friendly, attentive, and delivered our food quickly. The dining area was clean, and the gender-neutral single restroom was also well maintained. The Chinese/Taiwanese décor sets a nice theme. The noise level was a bit above average, and the tables are fairly close together, but there's still enough space to move through comfortably. They offer a large selection of entrées and appetizers, and the food quality and portion sizes were well worth the price. We had a party of six and didn't wait long for a table--pretty impressive for a Friday night. All of our orders arrived quickly and accurately, and parking in the back was plentiful. Overall, a great experience!

Taiwanese eatery with plenty of options to choose from, starting with snacks, appetizers, drinks, noodles, to rice plates and stir fry dishes. We came by with a party of 4 on a friday night, they had a lot of options with great choices for combinations/BYO sets. Customer service is overall friendly, and quick. The food comes out super fast, so most of the dishes are prepped in advance. While the variety is great and service is quick, the quality of the food is not as amazing. We ordered a lot of food ranging from their taiwanese pig intestine/oyster noodle soup, to the sets with the braised beef noodle soup. Salt and pepper chicken wings, popcorn chicken, boba milk tea, chicken cutlets, minced pork over noodles and even garlic vegetable stir fry. Great spread of food, but the taste individually was just okay. The taiwanese noodles are a famous and iconic dish, but the soup and noodles were too clumpy, i can still see bits and small lumps of the cornstarch. The taste was a bit on the more tart/sour side in comparison to it being more savory. We were looking forward to it a lot, but was kind of let down. The braised beef noodle soup wasn't bad, the noodles had a great texture, beef was okay, but the portion was kind of small, a lot of soup though, it was great for the colder weather. The chicken wings were a major let down. The chicken themselves were very bland, while crispy, there was no taste to it inside or out, it was as if they were never marinaded or seasoned. And for some reason it had a very gamey taste to it. It came with a lot of peppers, onions, and garlic, which were great additions but the chicken itself were very disappointing and we couldn't finish it. The chicken cutlet was okay, it was juicy, but a lot of breading over it, and for some reason that same tart/sourness came from the chicken. I didn't get a stomachache afterwards but it definitely tasted weird. I wonder if it was from the 5-spice seasoning but it was definitely more tart and pungent than what I am normally used it. The mined pork over noodles were also kind of a let down, I was looking forward to more of a braised pork/zha jian mian/dan dan mian type of dish but there wasn't that great of a taste to it. Just tasted like soy stir fry pork over noodles with chili oil. It was bland and not what we were looking for. Honorable mention, the milk teas tasted like a dessert, so it was a treat! The pickled vegetables that came with the sets of dishes were great, very refreshing and had a good balance of sour and salty to it. The soy boiled eggs were good too. The sides were great, but the main dishes we ordered were just not what we were expecting. The food is definitely edible, and maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes or we came on an off day, but we would only come back if it was the only place open or closest to our stay.

I had high hopes for this place. I have bookmarked it for a long time and finally got a chance to try it. The service was fast and welcoming, which made a great first impression. However, I was overall disappointed with the food. Taiwan Oyster Omelet: The texture was quite gluey and it was lacking flavor. It didn't have the balance I was expecting. Braised Pork Rice Bowl: The flavor itself was good, but the portion of pork was very small and not enough to go with the entire bowl of rice. Boba Milk Tea: This was a big letdown. There was barely any tea flavor and it tasted like it was made from powder. It had a strange aftertaste, and I couldn't really tell what it added to the drink. The boba texture itself was good though.

Located just off Downtown Reno, this spot is perfect for a comforting bowl of noodle soup right after landing in the city. Parking is limited but there are a few free spaces in the plaza. I went with the Shrimp & Pork Noodle on the order taker's recommendation, and it did not disappoint. My husband had the braised pork belly rice--tender meat with a nice bit of gravy soaking into the rice. We also tried the Wine Chicken Roll. It wasn't my favorite, but that's just personal preference. The staff were incredibly helpful, walking us through the menu and suggesting dishes based on what we like. It's a cozy place overall, with comfortable seating whether at a booth or at a regular table.

If you're craving REAL Taiwanese comfort food in Reno, run, don't walk to 101 Taiwanese Cuisine. This place is the definition of a hidden gem -- the kind of spot where the food tastes like someone's grandma is in the kitchen cooking with love... and maybe yelling at you to eat more. We ordered a full spread and every single dish slapped: Beef Noodle Soup - Rich broth, super tender beef, perfectly chewy noodles. Honestly one of the best versions I've had outside of Taiwan. Zha Jiang Noodles - Savory, saucy, addictive. I kept telling myself "just one more bite," and we all know how that ends. Braised Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan) - Melt-in-your-mouth pork, pickled veggies, and that soft egg... chef's kiss. Scallion Pancake Beef Roll - Crispy outside, juicy inside. If you know, you know. Everything tasted homemade, comforting, and absolutely legit. The menu even says "Not Your Ordinary Chinese Food," and they mean it -- this is true Taiwanese street-food flavor. If you want something flavorful, cozy, and delicious, this is the spot. Easily the best Taiwanese cuisine in Reno. Already planning my next trip back!

This used to be my favorite spot in town, but something changed recently. Food came out a little too quickly as soon as we ordered, which made me wonder if it wasn't made fresh, since food wasn't hot, rather room temperature. Also, food tasted very stale, which only solidified my worries that food wasn't made fresh to order.

One of my favorite spots for Asian food in Reno and one that I keep coming back to. The service is always excellent and the food is fantastic. The scallion pancakes are an absolute must and my son loves the garlic noodles. I go for the braised pork rice bowl every time because the flavors are great, it's a perfect sized meal, and at $9 it's a steal!

Smaller portions then I remember. It wasn't crazy busy like I remember either. Everything was good, but I didn't care for the spongy chicken in the green beans or the pineapple in the fried rice. We ordered more than we could finish wanting to try several items we hadn't tried before. I still prefer the beef roll and onion pancake. We've planned a day trip out to Reno from Sac in the past to eat here, but probably won't be doing that again.

This is one of my go to spots for pick up orders close to home when I'm hungover lol The portions are huge and last me days and are such great leftovers! I've tried so many things on the menu and they never disappoint!

In town for basketball tournament. Recommended by one of the teammate's parents. Greeted upon arrival. Saw lots of other basketball families, so news must spread quickly. Didn't want to order too much food, so we settled on braised beef noodle soup and beef wrapped pancake. The soup was rich and flavorful. Lots of beef chunks. Thick noodle. The pancake was absolutely delicious. Filled with carrots and cilantro. Tasted fresh, contrasted by crispy texture of the pancake. Kate was our server. Helpful with ordering and speedy service. QR codes on table for ordering. Scan to pay available. Great lunch place.

Everything we ordered brought something special to the table. This spot nails Taiwanese comfort food with intensity and heart. The Beef Combination Appetizer Platter came with tender beef shank, chewy tofu skin, crunchy pickled cucumber, cabbage, and a drizzle of savory sauce. A great starter with layers of flavor and texture, perfect for sharing. The Fried Pork Intestine was unexpectedly addictive, crispy, rich, and full of umami. Not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it if you're adventurous. The Popcorn Chicken delivered the classic Taiwanese night market flavor, crispy, seasoned, and served hot with fragrant basil leaves. The Drunken Chicken was cold, silky, and delicately infused with rice wine. Clean-tasting and refreshing between bites of the richer dishes. The Beef Pancake Roll was flaky, warm, and generously filled with tender beef and scallions. One of the best we've had. Quick service, generous portions, and food that feels like home or a trip to a Taiwanese street stall. I'd happily come back for the beef noodle soup next time!

They are open on the 4th of July! If you're hungry and want Great Food this is the place! We ordered Curry Chicken and Rice, Taiwanese Mustard Vegetables, Wonton in Chili Oil. The food comes out fast and everything was delicious! We ate everything! We will definitely make coming here a good habit.

I ordered salted fish fried rice , general tso chiken and beer roll pancake today. Everything taste bland !!! Nothin to Bragg about this place. The guy on the cashier a lil bit unhappy to give us his service. Make us feel unwelcome. But then again what do unexpect from a typical Chinese restaurant service. ?! As usual service is rude n suck ! Ambiance is ok. Clean !! Will i go back n try other dishes in the menu ? Definitely NOT !!! Everything tasted bland !

My experience here was great! I got to try out thier general chicken and fried tofu it was really good and for the drinks I had tai tea. The servers where cool and patient with me I was overwhelmed with how many options they have for food. Ambiance is great I do like how it looks indoors it feels like im in a different place a small escape from town!

Another flavorful trip to 101 Taiwanese, the goat of quick, savory, filling Asian food. This time I tried some of Michael's favorite recommendations on Yelp- the popcorn chicken and the beef pancake and boy was I blown away. The popcorn chicken was so soft yet crispy and had this subtle sweetness to it. I can't believe I had never ordered it before! The beef pancake was also super tender and the crispy veggies gave it a satisfying crunch and texture. I don't know how they serve the food mere minutes after you order it, it's there before you know it and piping hot too! Fastest service in all of Reno! I feel that I have finally perfected my 101 order- scallion pancakes, eggplant basil disk, bok choy and tofu, garlic noodles, beef pancake, beef and peppers, popcorn chicken and wontons in chili oil will never disappoint you! Love coming back time and time again.

Food: - Popcorn Chicken: 4/10 - edible but not good. somehow was both too sweet and too salty. no crunch. - Matcha Milk Tea with Boba: 6/10 - very ok - Triplets Milk Tea: 4/10 - tasted like milk, no tea. Service was fine. Would try again for sit-down service for a meal but not for any quick to-go snacks.

Tonight was a disaster! I ordered delivery, so no points taken off for that (he was quick!). I ordered potstickers for an appetizer. Guess what, they weren't sticky at all! They were boiled and had no crisp whatsoever. My entrée was the Black pepper Pork Chop. Honestly, it was ok, but not worth the price I paid. I assumed it would have been cut off the bone so that I could eat it with a fork or chop sticks. Alas, I had to fish the bones out of my pork chop. Weird. It looks good on the plate, but as they say, an image is worth 1,000 words. This image doesn't do it justice. I can't finish this plate.

This is the best Taiwanese restaurant on earth, I say that with 100% confidence. Its fair priced, portions are massive and filling, and everything tastes delicious every time. Ive been here 40+ times over the years and am treated exceptionally every time. They also have a fantastic loyalty program. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Highly recommended!!!

I haven't been here in years!!! A friend never had Taiwanese beef noodle soup before and was wondering where he can find it so I brought him here for lunch. The inside hasn't changed much. It's always clean. I got there before him and was seated right away but the service made me very uncomfortable. As I was sitting down, the lady server asked me what I want to order without giving me a menu so I was very confused. I know that a lot of locals come here so they probably know the menu by hand but to tourists and others, I found it a bit weird. My friend eventually arrived and our server did the same thing to him. For appetizer, we got the beef wrapped pancakes and chicken wings and braised beef noodle soup for entrees. We also got boba at the end as a little to go dessert. Food was delicious and did not disappoint. I just wished our server was more considerate on her ordering timing. Would definitely be coming back for more food!

The braised noodles seemed bland to me, had to add some condiments to flavor it up. Also with the wonton soup. The braised beef sample platter is a cold dish wish it came with a dipping sauce. It was ok. Service was quick. But the waiter totally forgot I ordered an ube smoothie and ended up getting it after we finished out meal. Ambiance was bright I went on a Saturday so I was a little busy , noisey and there's only one restroom .

Condensed bun w milk: crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was decent but also a lot of bread. Pork rib noodle soup: the broth was flavorful and probably the best part about this dish. The pork rib was chewy and kind of fatty. I liked the noodles which were thick and the radish that came in the soup. Spicy chicken with basil: spice level was 1/10. Not spicy. The sauce was a thick black bean sauce which was tasty. The chicken was tender, but it did include the skin which was chewy.

Unpopular opinion. I thought this place was just mid. Food and service were both just okay. I came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with my sister and there was a small wait (~30 mins). The restaurant is quite small so it gets packed pretty quickly. Braised beef noodle soup: I saw almost every table ordered this. The noodles were thick and the soup had some good beef flavor. This is perfect for a cold winter day. Big chunks of beef but I find it a little chewy and dry. Popcorn chicken: batter was quite light but what threw me off was that it was sweet. I wished that they put more seasoning. The chicken itself is soft and tender. Stir-fry basil clam: best dish I've had here. Clams were small in size but the flavor was good. The sauce they used in this dish was garlicky which I like. They also had napa cabbage which soaked up the yummy sauce! Boba milk tea: A little too sweet and milky for my preference. Boba wasn't chewy and the center was a little hard. Fresh papaya shake: papaya flavor wasn't prominent probably since it's not in season. Would not order again. Probably would not visit again but if you are really craving Asian food in Reno, this might be a good place to check out.

The location is very convenient from the casino, easy access to parking. I ordered the basil squid and the tased just fine. They don't have more than stemmed rice which is not very tasty. The service is find, and the environment looks clean. In general, they are much like last generation Taiwanese food, not too much fancy stuff.

One of my favorite restaurants in Reno. The food is always so good, and truly some of the best service I've ever experienced. The workers are so nice, and our food sometimes comes out so fast it catches us by surprise! So many options to choose from, and everything I've ever had here is great. Recommend!

101 has always been a solid option for many years. Our go to has always been beef wrapped pancake and pork belly bao. Do we need an entree in addition to that? No. But did we want one? Yes. They didn't have sweet and sour pork but had sweet and sour spare ribs. They were just ok. Sauce was great, but rather have cubes of pork than the ribs (personal preference). Service is always fast and food always gives that comfort, good for the soul vibes.

Can't complain. I enjoyed their lunch special here. Eggplant with pork and side of pork egg rolls was awesome! With fried rice and hot and sour soup. Best of all it was affordable. I came in at 2pm and they close at 3pm. Got seated right away and the food came out fast. Huge portions too! Server was great and friendly and the place was not pack at all. Lots of seats and very comfortable ambiance. Restroom was clean too! Free parking at the location but I had to go around since I missed the entrance. I will go back here again when I'm in town.

We were not offered the lunch menu which is a decent deal, the regular menu is not. Once we asked for the lunch menu she gave it to us. The mapo tofu tasted good, but not homemade. It reminded me of the mapo mix you get in a packet at the Asian store... I have made authentic before and there is a depth of flavor which this did not have it. The most disappointing part was the kung pao shrimp. I cook a ton of shrimp. I know what it tastes like when it is freshly prepared and I know what it tastes like when it has been sitting in a warming dish for too long. This dish tasted like the latter... I believe they took the shrimp out of a leftover soup or another dish and reused it in tour kung pao. TERRIBLE! We would not go back and do not recommend.

Came in for last week with a friend and had an incredible experience. Arrived as they opened and was quickly greeted by one of the employees who provided menus and waters. Opted for the sweet and sour chicken lunch special without the sauce which is one of the many lunch entrees you can choose that also comes with one piece of an app (opted for veggie egg roll) and white rice or fried rice (opted for white). All of which came out fresh, hot and tasty! Additionally ordered the wontons in chili oil. While great in taste I thought they would come out crispy then tossed in chili oil. They were steamed. Great service, ambience is chill which is great for a lunch spot and conveniently located adjacent to midtown/downtown!

I expected a lot from a Taiwanese restaurant because I know that Taiwanese food is savory and tasty. However, this restaurant did not live-up with the expectation, unfortunately. I ordered Braised beef noodle soup, stinky tofu, and popcorn chicken. I can't taste the beef broth from the soup. It felt like I am sipping a hot soy and water soup. The egg noodles, although cooked al dente, does not have any taste and there's no umami in it. The popcorn chicken didn't stand out as well -- there's no taste in the chicken and it only tasted the flour or cornstarch batter. The stinky tofu is what I expected, stinky but good. Just like the tofu I had when I was in Taiwan. The service is good. The guy is really nice and accomodating, especially when I asked if I can leave my son's carseat, and my husband will just pick it up, and he was okay with it. Ambiance is okay. They have televisions in every corner. I just don't like the show in one television, because it showed crimes in Taiwan or China I think -- at that time it was a raid in a bar or prostitution house -- I don't like it, especially I have a kid with me. Maybe let's choose a family-friendly show next time. Overall, so far the food I ordered did not stand out. I'm not sure if I will go back or if I will dine again, I will not order these food I had.

Was in Reno for a concert. Came here for lunch before heading back to town. They were not busy so we were seated right away. It was our first time here so we wanted to try many dishes! They offer many selections on their menu. Rice, noodles, soups, entrees, appetizers, snacks. Prices were average. Crispy pork rolls: It was alright. Nothing special about it. I do not personally recommend it. Scallion pancake: Crispy, quite flaky, a bit too oily but it was good. Beef chow mein: Flavor was on point. I liked that fact that it had a bit of the 'wok hei' taste. Beef wrapped pancake: One of the best beef roll I ever had so far. It was really good. The wrap was pretty thick but I didn't mind. Filling was flavorful. Sweet & sour pork: Flavor was ok but meat was pretty tough. Service was quick. Portion was decent. A legit Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant. Small parking lot but there are street parking available.

Been to this restaurant a few times now to give it an honest review. Food quality and taste has been consistent, good tasty food and well seasoned. Portions are little on the smaller size compared to other lunch spots but you have a good variety of options to choose from on the lunch menu. Quick service and staff is attentive. Restaurant environment seems clean, a little crowded inside but a lot of seating. From what we have ordered, I would recommend the beef noodle soup. Soup comes with enough beef and noodles, it's definitely a big meal. I would also recommend the chow mein and honey walnut shrimp. Shrimp is not overcooked and chow mein is not greasy.

As a person of Taiwanese descent, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Reno has an authentic Taiwanese restaurant that heavily rivals those of the 626 in LA. They have an extensive menu of almost every Taiwanese dish you can think of, including beef wrapped pancakes, vermicelli with intestines/oysters, beef noodle soup, stinky tofu, popcorn chicken, lu ruo fan, and much more! We ordered on UberEats, and the food came quickly, arriving hot and well-packaged. Everything was very authentic and large in portions (except the stinky tofu), bringing back nostalgic memories of my mother's cooking and my visits to Taiwan. This is my first time back in a while, and I'm impressed that they have stayed opened since most of the adjacent shops have changed (there was still a Starbucks on the corner the last time I was here). Service: friendly, fast. Ambience: ample seating. Also seems like they updated their decor, and it gives the restaurant a classier vibe. Food: Turnip cake: 9/10. Just the right amount of crisp on the outside, a little too soft on the inside. Wish there was more actual filling on the inside - it mostly just tasted like batter. Scallion pancakes: 9/10. Good flavor and texture, but presentation could use more work. Some parts were a little burnt. Overall, I walked out satisfied and will return! Glad to still have this little gem given that Reno is a desert (no pun intended) when it comes to authentic Chinese cuisine.

I've been coming to this place for a long time. I love their food. My favorites are their crispy pork roll, pork fried rice, salt & pepper spareribs, their bobas and more. Love this place

Man, it's just not the same as it was since my first review. Prices are higher than the Bay area but the quality is not worth it. The basil chicken was like they just cooked it but just added sauce on top... No marination to infuse the chicken. The popcorn chicken lacked crispness of being freshly fried, like it had been sitting around too long. Beef stew noodles were so-so, but not worthy of that price. Minced pork over rice was all rice and little pork. Altogether, a forgettable experience. Perhaps I should have known, as there was no lineup for tables ahead of us, as there had in years past.

This place is amazing. I've been here when it's busy and not but, their service is always great. I highly recommend ordering their popcorn chicken and fried rice. This place can service a group or solo. They have a lot of seating inside but, can be crowded in the weekend . I would definitely come back.

Wow.. not sure what went wrong here. Ordered delivery, got the dumplings in chili oil, the calamari, black pepper chow mein, and orange/tangerine chicken. The chow mein and chicken aren't awful, will we order them again? No. But the dumplings had this absolutely sour taste that hit immediately when you bit into it. They are filled with meat so is highly concerning.. the calamari is now literally just funnel cake batter and nothing like pictures we saw. So sweet, no meat, so disappointing. All in all, nothing about any of the food we ordered was something we ate readily.. but wasted over $70 for 2 things we couldn't eat and 2 things we didn't care to eat

Oh I really need to come here more often, because everything is sooo good. They serve the best Mapo Tofu I've had in the US. It's so good, especially after a long hike on the snowy trail. Comfort food that is actually good for you! Son had chicken katsu bento, and we were not quite sure if what he got was actually katsu, or karaage. Either way, it was the best fried chicken we've had in a long time; juicy but crispy, perfectly seasoned, and fragrant with yuzu pepper. The service is personable and wonderful, the place is clean, and popular! One of my favorite Asian restaurants.

Same review I gave last time really. The place is good. And those that enjoy more traditional, real taiwanese food will probably be happy with their giant menu. Price is on par with most similar places around town and staff is friendly.

Overall we found the food to be a mix of some good and some less so. Their feature dish of the beef noodle soup is good, while other dishes such as the scaling pancake, wontons, and dumplings were less flavorful. Overall a nice option for Asian food in Reno, but I've had better in other cities. Interior is clean and dark wood themed and the service was responsive.

Food was great but a little too salty. We had to ask them to remake the salted fish fried rice because it was too salty. The noodles was perfectly cooked and the beef was tender. Service is great, server made sure we are taken cared of.

I'm not sure what 101 in the name means, but if it's like school, the Taiwanese food we had was pretty 101 Basic. Our initial impression was off to a bad start when trying to check in. The Yelp reservation kiosk was not functioning and the wife goes to the counter for assistance. Waiting, the host with the reddish face staff assisted a guy that walked up after her and when she asked for a table and noted the iPad tablet wasn't working, he dismissed her saying it's working. Rude enough that she wanted to leave, I really wanted to try the food as it's rare to find Taiwanese cuisine in Reno and the dining room was 100% Asian which is a good sign. I approached the counter to speak to the same host, told him the tablet isn't working and his response was to check it - not sure why he accepted it wasn't working when I asked. He restarted the app and I checked in. After a 2min wait we were seated. I had noted a little ribbon next to their Spicy Beef Noodle Soup on their digital display and will always try this bowl as a litmus test. We ordered the following: Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. It looked like it wasn't going to be spicy and the first sip of soup confirmed it. The noodles were average, the beef tender and the soup while flavorful lacked any punch. This was Beef Noodle Soup. At $18 a bowl, I will not order it again. Nothing special, but also not bad. Add heat to this bowl. Beef Wrapped Pancake. This fairly good. The sauce used in the wrap, the sparse herbs and beef was good. The only issue I have with it is the pancake itself. It is thicker than it should be and not nearly as toasted as it should be. This left the mid section of the roll rather chewy as the wrap gave way to the oil. Probably wouldn't order again until they get the wrap right. Spicy Basil Chicken. This was like a home cooked dish. Something I'd make that would be pretty good at home, but short on expectations ordered in a restaurant. Plentiful chicken pieces for sure and the basil came through. It had zero heat much like the "spicy" beef noodle and a fairly one dimensional sweetened soy sauce marinade. Couldn't taste the ginger and the single jalapeño was a token just for presence it seemed. I suggest mincing the ginger and adding it towards the end of the cook, using more jalapeños with seeds to add more heat and topping the dish with some crispy basil leaves to emphasize it as well as plating appearance. Garlic Noodles. This was the first dish that arrived and it is fantastic. This is probably the best garlic noodle we've had. Sadly, it set the bar of expectation that wasn't followed by any of our other dishes. The place was busy and the decor nothing out of the ordinary while consistent with the restaurant's cuisine. The service once seated was prompt and the older lady was pleasant. I may consider trying other dishes here if only to have their garlic noodle again.

Both Braised Pork Rice Bowl and Braised Beef Noodle Soup are good, pretty authentic. Surprised to be able to find a pretty good Taiwanese restaurant in Reno, highly recommend.

During our trips to Ramen 4 Real we would talk about trying Taiwanese food at 101. What is Taiwanese food - it's very similar to Chinese with nuances in the flavors. We both went with the lunch combination - very reasonably priced. I love hot & sour and 101 did not miss on theirs. Very flavorful if not as sour as traditional Chinese. Full of veg, tofu and noodles - it was great. General chicken was good and egg fried rice decent as well. Came with a gyoza as an appetizer - filled with pork. Did not come with the traditional dipping sauce. Should have gone with something ala carte to try something more traditional Taiwanese - popcorn chicken, etc. Gives us a great reason to return - which we will!!

One of the most popular places in Reno so I definitely want to come check it out. I've never had the chance to try this place despite coming to Reno many times. It was very crowded on a Saturday night and we waited for over an hour and ended up not being able to eat there because we had another event to attend. We ended up going to the following day on Sunday a little after they just opened and was seated within five minutes. We ordered a few things including popcorn chicken, pineapple shrimp, shredded pork with tofu, beef noodle soup and chicken leg rice plate. Service was okay, food and alright as well. The pineapple shrimp was similar to a honey walnut shrimp texture and taste but with added pineapples. The beef noodle soup was also okay, but a little bland to our taste. The popcorn chicken was a little on the sweeter side, breading could have been better in my opinion. Parking was okay it's in a small plaza but it seems like most people walk there from the hotels. Its about a 5-6 min walk from Circus Circus and Silver Legacy. Overall it was nice to try once. I can see the appeal since there's no Chinese food/restaurant in the area (based on walking distance from the hotels, except for Panda express that I know of). I also tried a brown sugar boba with pudding. I like the caramel burnt sugar taste but overall a bit too sweet. Pudding was nice but there wasn't a lot.

BAD: Took awhile to get seated (which is no problem) HOWEVER -chairs had food on it (from previous table), (-1) -table was sticky (-1) -2/6 dishes were good/worth.(-3) -food was doughy and DRY GOOD: -Food came quick (+1) Overall Food so bad I didn't consider take out I'd recommend the place next door

This past weekend my friend was feeling under the weather so I picked up some 101 Taiwanese Cuisine to go. I called in the order ahead of time and it was ready when I arrived. Staff were super helpful and attentive, and the pick up was quick and easy. All the food was absolutely delicious! We had Egg Drop Soup, Shrimp Curry Rice, Fish with Spicy Chili Sauce (my new personal favorite. OMG SO good!!!), and Honey-Glazed Walnut Shrimp. All super tasty. We'll definitely be back soon.

Now we know why every time we've tried to eat here the lines were out the door. The food is delicious, the service is incredibly fast, and the place is quaint and pleasant. I love their lunch combo meals. You get to pick exactly what you want as to the main course, appetizer, soup, and side dish. I had the chicken and vegetables, fried rice, crispy pork roll, and wonton soup. What really got all three of us was how quickly the meals came out, and most importantly, they were served hot. the flavors were all their, the portions were plentiful, and the price was great. Will absolutely be coming back when we're in the area, which is often as I have had to make quite a few visits to ROC across the street.
