Monomyth Coffee

Hands down the absolute best coffee shop in Lubbock. Any time we come into town, this is our first stop. The pour over is delicious and the baristas know what they're doing - they're very helpful, they offer advice, and they are as nice as can be. We've tried many different coffee shops throughout Lubbock, but nothing compares to Monomyth. I'll even add that most coffee shops I've been to in Dallas/Fort Worth (which is a ton) don't even compare to the quality of coffee I receive here.

Love coming to Monomyth, always great baristas, kind people with lots of good recommendations! The atmosphere is great! So glad we have a great staple in LBK! I got the bourbon maple with caramel and the latte art is SO GOOD!

Was served my oats and coffee at my table in literally under 60 seconds. Power outlets at every seat. Plenty of room. Bathroom. This is the epitome of an ideal coffee shop.

I was in Lubbock just for a weekend recently and really liked Monomyth. The coffee I bought was good, and it seemed like a cool spot to hang out near campus. If I had more time I'd love to spend a bit more hanging around at the cafe and getting the vibe a bit more.

This is a cute little coffee shop, indoor and outdoor seating. Items are over priced, food was good, simple, light. Service was good but very slow i would say we waited about 20 minutes to get our coffee after we ordered it. Coffee was not good, its probably one of the worst i have ever had. I was thinking that it might just be mine but my guest who ordered a different drink had a similar experience and didn't even finish their coffee. I don't know maybe the machines need to be cleaned maybe it was just a bad day. I don't know.

Coffee was very bitter and not made correctly. I only received 1 pack of sugar, which couldn't kill the taste. The staff was very nice but the atmosphere is to corporate.

Loved how cute this little coffee shop was in the heart of Lubbock, TX! There were plenty of tables to sit in inside to work! The coffee shake and lavender latte were solid! Highly recommend!

very adorable barn house aesthetic cafe, great place to study gets really busy really fast the maple bar was dry and flat, but flavor wise was pretty good. the fall drink did taste like fall in a cup, but in a different way than i'm used to. it was still kind of milky and slightly savory overall would come just to study

In my never-ending journey to find the best latte, there are only a few places I consider supremely the best of the best. Maybe it is college nostalgia or maybe it's just the foundation they built me on, but Monomyth in Lubbock, Texas, is easily some of the best coffee I have ever had. Located off Broadway in a tiny house, Monomyth opened its doors in 2019. It took me until the summer after my sophomore year in 2022 to try them. Rookie mistake. The interior is this beautiful light wood mixed with white walls, white metallic chairs, and touches of red throughout the building. It's simply cozy. It feels like a coffee shop in a house because truly that's all it is. Every beverage I've had at Monomyth, I've enjoyed. My standard weapon of choice is a hot lavender latte with oat milk, which is always served in a beautiful red ceramic cup. Sometimes I'll go for iced beverages. I tried an espresso tonic there for the first time and hated that espresso could have bubbles, but found myself ordering it time and time again throughout the summer. Their fall Firefall Latte is fantastic, and often, I find myself going back to their seasonal menus because they have it down to a science. I think espresso-based drinks have to be espresso-forward to the right degree. I've had many lattes that are too flavorful and sugary or too milky. Monomyth seems to nail the ratio every time, making their hot drinks balance perfectly from the flavor shots to the milk to the espresso rooted at the bottom of the cup. It's like 2000s Spurs basketball, where everyone on the floor is assisting. They also bring in pastries from the local Brûlée Bakery, which includes kolaches, homemade Pop-Tarts, cinnamon buns, muffins, almond croissants, and more. I find Monomyth one of the best places to work. Their atmosphere is excellent, their staff is super accommodating, and there is just this bubble of productivity going around the place even more so than your average coffee shop. Many textbooks were read at Monomyth, many essays were written at Monomyth, I scripted at Monomyth, I did remote work at Monomyth. If a task can be done on a computer, it should be done at Monomyth. When you go there often enough, you start meeting the regulars, and they all have great stories to share. You start to feel like part of the neighborhood. I can't recommend Monomyth enough. When I visit, I always have to bring a bag of their freshly roasted beans back to Hutto with me, and sometimes I make my girlfriend grab a bag when she comes to visit. My one piece of advice is to know that Friday mornings are always the busiest Monomyth will be. You may not even find a place to sit. Just be warned. Everyone I like in my life likes Monomyth. If you live in Lubbock, become a regular. If you're visiting, stop by. If you're neither, figure that out on your own time. RIYL: The best thing ever.

This is by far my favorite coffee shop in Lubbock. We stopped by Monomyth Coffee before heading out of town. When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult with some parking available on the street and also across broadway. Additionally, this coffee shop tends to be busy and it may be hard to find a seat. When you walk up to the coffee shop you'll see a converted house that has turned into the coffee shop. When you walk in you'll feel like you're in a friend's house having a cup of coffee. To order you'll want to approach the counter to order with the barista. I ordered the vanilla latte which was excellent and don't forget to ask for a ceramic for your coffee as the baristas are great at latte art. I can't say enough good things about this coffee shop. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.

Really cute and quiet coffee shop that is perfect for getting work done. I really loved how each section of the store was closed off and secluded. The coffee was good not great. If your looking for taste there is certainly better options, but if you just need a place to hang out and relax this is perfect!

In town for the weekend for my brothers graduation and wanted to check this place out. Their espresso is probably the best I've ever had and that's a bold statement coming from someone who's been to many coffee shops. I got an iced bourbon maple latte with whole milk and a hot chai latte! I highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the mood for great coffee and vibes!

Cutest coffee shop so close to the Tech campus! I would have absolutely loved having this as an option back when I was a student. The interior is cute and cozy - perfect for hanging out or getting work done. I also appreciated the quality of the espresso and the top-tier latte art. The espresso was not as much on the acidic side for my own preference, but I still could tell the beans were of high quality, and I still enjoyed my cup. Definitely worth a visit when in Lubbock.

Good space inside, friendly service. I can't say the pastries were very good--had a cookie as well as the sausage pastry.

Monomyth is effortlessly cool. Each of the times I've been, I've been super super surprised by the quality of the drinks and the overall experience. The employees are extremely friendly and are quite efficient at getting orders out. The drinks, not only, are creative and unique but the execution on them is fantastic. In my mind, a bonus to having great coffee is having great food too. The kolache is an absolute favorite of mine! I hope you make time to stop into Monomyth for a fantastic experience!

Neat little coffee shop in a nice part of Lubbock. The interior is a remodeled home and everything is clean, slick and span, a nice minimalist aesthetic. The coffee is very good and it is possible to try different origins - when available. I had a latte with one of their in-house flavors and my hubby had an espresso and a London fog. Everything tasted fresh. You can tell this third wave coffee shop is owned and operated by people who are passionate about coffee. A nice discovery while driving through the region.

Delicious drinks and great service, every time. The coffee shop can be noisy and crowded, but it's less noisy than some other coffee shops in town. I prefer sitting in the front room! Come to this coffee shop... it's the best in Lubbock.

Don't come in here past 4pm unless you want your drink begrudgingly made. Pretentious atmosphere with no genuine customer service, which was surprising for a local coffee shop.

Good coffee, but not great. The space, food, and coffee are all fine. Their soundtrack is eclectic, to say the least - one day they were playing hard metal, another day they were playing lo-fi. I've visited with my task-trained service dog who wears a "working dog" harness in public. Twice, staff members have brusquely said, "Pets aren't allowed here." Looking for a harness and asking "Excuse me, is that a service dog?" is far more polite. If you want a really comfortable, chill space with stellar coffee and food, go to Nashwell instead.

Went in mid-November, got a seasonal latte and a few pastries. All very good and comforting. Very nice space to hang out as well. Service was friendly and attentive.

Love this place! It has some of the best coffee in Lubbock. The baristas are SUPER nice and so helpful. If you want somewhere that has baristas that know coffee well, this is the place!

I don't live in Lubbock, but I come into town often to visit my family, and this is usually my first stop when I get to Lubbock. I'm fortunate enough to live in an area with some of the best coffee roasters in the country within an hours drive, and Monomyth can stand right there with them. All you need to know is their coffee is on point, and they have the friendliest baristas in the game. In a business that deals with grouchy, uncaffeinated customers on the daily, Monomyth baristas keep pulling shots and greeting everyone by name with a smile. I'm thankful that I've found such a great spot as an out-of-tower, and can't wait for my next trip to Lubbock and next cup of Monomyth coffee. Do yourself a favor and head to Monomyth today!

We got a simple americano with cream and an affogato and all I can say is this was hands down the best coffee we've ever had. They got some good beans here! The sausage scones were to die for as well. The place was busy but not too loud, we didn't have to wait too long for a table to open up. Definitely worth it.

Best place to hang in Lubbock by far. The food and drink is all fantastic. I particularly love the overnight oats, and the Kolaches. YUM. My boyfriend was impressed too by the quality. I've had their s'mores latte, their chai latte, their London fog, all incredible. The atmosphere is also lovely, calm, aesthetically pleasing, and the staff are pleasant. A great day to spend some of the day in Lubbock!

Great location, super vibe and really kind, thoughtful, well trained Baristas. Music is always on perfect jams, on the right volume. This crew knows and loves their craft, and it shows. You will not be disappointed. Side note: wish they had a few, GF, Whole30, Paleo snacks or treats. My go to spot when I'm in Lubbock.

Their coffee is on point! I opted for an espresso and was impressed. It was expertly pulled, had great flavor, and was accompanied by refreshing sparkling water. This spot could easily rival some of the best coffee spots in the SF Bay Area. Whenever I travel, I aim to seek out exceptional coffee - Monomyth hit the mark!

Cute, eclectic, unique, and totally satisfying!! I had been wanting to try this place for awhile and I'm so glad I did! I had a cappuccino with bourbon maple syrup and overnight oats with granola. Wowzaaaaa.. seriously, so good. After I finished that, I went back for an Ethiopian Pour-Over, to take to-go. I will definitely be returning. Do yourself a favor, and go as soon as you can.

Had the overnight oats, blueberry muffin, and avocado toast. That's the best avocado toast I've ever had. I don't eat it often because usually it's pretty bland, but they seasoned it with chili flakes and dressed arugula. They have decaf lattes with almond or oat. The matcha latte wasn't too sweet like a lot of other places.

This place is super cute, seems like a great place to study or hang out. I will say... the iced vanilla matcha latte with almond milk I got was not good. My best guess is that the matcha powder they use isn't great quality? I couldn't taste the matcha, it was super sweet, and had a weird aftertaste. I drank maybe a fourth of it then tossed it, so that was a bummer. But the place was busy so I'm sure their other drinks are great!

Decided to try this place based on the yelp reviews. I definitely was not disappointed. Ended up getting an iced latte with oat milk and some maple syrup flavoring that they had & it is absolutely delicious. I wanted the overnight oats but they were sold out so they convinced me to get the house made granola which is also delicious. I'll definitely be coming back to the coffee house the next time I'm in town.

Great vibes, quick service (during their morning rush), and happy conversation amongst customers. Always nice to visit a coffee house with a strong emphasis on quality coffee---not a thousand smoothies... and a place which avoids a mortuary-like silence. All in all a lovely place.

Monmouth was the beginning of my wonderful journey to find the perfect iced chai. This incredible establishment taught me to love morning drinks and see out places during my adventures to find the best chai. Monomyth had incredible atmosphere and employees who remember your name. The chai there is also incredible and some of the best in Lubbock.

Become a regular! After moving to Lubbock monomyth has become one of my weekly visits! Within 3 visits the staff had my name and order memorized. The baked goods from the local bakery are all amazing! Plus plenty of spots to sit and get some work done!

Decided to get some coffee and discovered Monomyth. Got a couple cappuccinos which were really well made! I've found myself a new favorite coffee place!

This was our second visit. The latte's on the first visit were excellent. The drips we had today were unenjoyable. Neither one of us finished our cup. Tasted twangy as in poor quality acidic beans or equipment needed cleaning.

I've visited Lubbock twice now and always love finding little coffee shops to start my mornings before work. This is one of my favorite coffee shops to date that I've visited! I had a late with lavender simple syrup that was excellent. The sips were smooth and creamy without being too heavy. I was almost embarrassed at how fast I drank this cup. Love love love this sweet coffee shop and I can't wait for my next trip up so I can stop by again! Much love coming all the way from Houston, Texas

Love this cute coffee shop! Perfect little shop to grab some coffee and sit down and study if you're looking for something a little more authentic feeling than Starbucks. They also have tons of non-coffee options if you're not a coffee drinker. The people who work there are generally pretty helpful if you're unsure what to order and will explain some of their more extravagant coffee drinks/coffee making methods to you. Their food items are just as good as their coffee. I had some type of savory Squash pastry one morning that was AMAZING! Their sweet pastries are just as good as well. This place is worth sitting down to drink your coffee at as it will come out in a nice big ceramic mug with designs on top (depending on what you order) instead of a classic togo cup. Perfect for a coffee date or study session.

I LOVE this coffee house! Not only do they offer great coffee and service, but the breakfast options are delicious! My absolute favorite is the avocado toast. You know it's good when my son with every bite is nodding his head the whole time he is eating it. The combination of creamy avocado topped with fresh arugula dressed in a spicy peppery vinaigrette with slices of pickled red onion. The combination just works. It's so delicious you just want to scarf it down but you don't because you can't stand the fact that soon after if would be gone. Yes, it's that good!!

Absolutely the best latte I've had. The baristas are warm and kind. The shop itself is so cute and full of little nooks where you could hide from the world with a book or laptop. Highly recommend.

While the coffee here was good, the service is what really stood out to me. We were staying nearby while visiting the area, and I came in early on a Saturday morning to enjoy coffee. Dewey, one of the baristas, was very welcoming and nice. After he had already prepared my coffee, I had to leave to pick up some family. I apologetically asked if he could pour my coffee into a to go cup, and he kindly made me a fresh one to go. When I returned a few minutes later with more people, he and the other barista were very nice to all of us. I also like the layout of the coffee shop. They have different areas of seating, not just one large open space like most places. Overall I had a great experience and would definitely return.

Rolled through for a latte to go this morning. The shop is bright and clean. I love the subway tile in the entry. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. My latte was delicious and almost the perfect temp. It could have been a tad warmer but the temp on this latte was so much better than it being too hot to drink. The foam was perfect. I also had a salted brown butter rice crispy treat. It was really really good too!! I will definitely stop here again.

Absolutely loved this coffee shop. The coffee was incredible. I was not expecting to find third wave coffee in Lubbock but I was happily proven wrong. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend.

Very good breakfast burritos, we do like green chili in any burrito. Good coffee, much better than the star place. Hope they survive the fires
