Among the more reliable and delicious mobile vendors for cheap eats is Taceaux Loceaux (pronounced in local fashion as “Taco Loco”). Its tacos feature innovative and tasty fillings, like a flavorful Texas brisket, or a “Seoul chicken” with kimchi. Most nights the truck is parked outside uptown-area spots, including Kingpin and Dos Jefes. Taceaux Loceaux Opens Uptown Restaurant At Last | Eater New Orleans

"A longtime taco truck fixture at Uptown bars that appeared on Anthony Bourdain’s The Layover in 2013, it opened as a restaurant over the weekend at 737 Octavia Street. Owners Alex and Maribeth del Castillo first announced intentions to bring their signature tacos to a restaurant in 2016; after various locations fell through they resumed plans after signing the Uptown lease earlier this year. The menu builds on the truck’s inventive tacos featuring proteins like BBQ pork, brisket, and Korean-style chicken and has been expanded to include vegan and vegetarian-friendly options such as braised greens, potato and poblano, cauliflower, and even “fauxrizo” (a meatless chorizo substitute). The bigger menu also offers quesadillas, the famous avocado fries, tot nachos, salads, and a full bar. The truck will continue to operate after a brief maintenance and upgrade break, the owners are hiring staff for the truck, and the restaurant is serving dinner six days a week for now with plans to open for lunch and weekend brunch—check Taceaux Loceaux’s Facebook page for updates on hours." - Clair Lorell

Food is great, service leaves some to be desired. Overall, I would eat here again, just with lowered expectations for service. We ordered the chips and queso, avocado fries, machaca Kahn taco, Seoul man taco, off the hook taco, Delta prawn, and messin with Texas taco. We didn't have a bad bite. Everything was cooked well and put together thoughtfully. The pickled onions were exceptional. Now for the service. The kitchen was sending good out seemingly random. We received half of our tacos before getting our second appetizer. When the chef brought out the queso it spilled on the table and we received no apology or topped off queso dip. The staff was courteous and no one was rude. With some more thoughtful kitchen management this would easily be the best taceria in New Orleans. Overall, awesome food.

Can’t speak to this location directly but, the one in St roch market is spot on and Joe was doing dual rolls of taking our order then preparing it for us. And, gosh, those nachos were tasty. Thank you, Joe!

Happy to see Taeaux Loceaux transition from their truck model to brick and mortar. Food standards are high and delicious. The prices increased since the truck but prices are not unreasonable. Overall satisfied. 4 star rating because the Seoul Man was my favorite and it tasted better on the truck than it does in the store. I have tried it several times in store, but the Chubster is way better in store.

I went for lunch for my first time and last. The top shelf margarita was awesome. I ordered the machaca and egg taco and the pork taco. The tortillas on both of my tacos were not cooked completely. They broke as soon as you picked it up which means they're not warmed thoroughly. The Carnitas was very salty. The machaca was basically carnitas with egg. I have never been to the food truck but the best thing that I had at lunch was the margarita. For being overpriced for a taco and not to be able to eat the tortilla because it's not cooked is not a good thing. If you are going to charge over $4 per taco, please make sure you can eat the tortillas. I'll go back for the margarita but nothing else.

I have followed this food truck around the city for years! When they opened the initial brick & mortar I was thrilled! Initially I was a little disappointed but since they reopened I can tell you this is what I was waiting for. I ordered take out last night. The tacos and avocado fries were perfect. Everything I knew and loved about the taceaux truck! The packaging was perfect and I loved that they offered me sides in separate containers to doctor my condiments. The hours are great! It’s hard to find food open after 9 pm uptown! My food was ready before the estimated pick up time and I had an amazing margarita (it was perfectly balanced!) with a very friendly and helpful staff! She let me know they do happy hour every day they are open 3-6, all day on Tuesdays and great drink specials for brunch hours on Sunday. I can’t wait to go back!

First tried them when they were a weekly food truck at CHNOLA; excited that they got an actual restaurant. Staff and owner were very nice. I would pass on trying their chips and salsa/ guac, but the tacos and quesadillas are amazing!
