We stayed in room 324, which was a nice room with a beautiful view. We had booked the culinary package, which included a dinner, and (as only at the time of check out we found out) also a 150 chf spa credit. I want to give a shoutout to the food, and all the staff at the Brasserie, both for breakfast and dinner, which was professional, attentive, and the only good part of our stay. The problems started from our arrival: we were extremely unlucky and disappointed with the check in process. The Italian receptionist was utterly unprofessional, and immediately scolded us for parking in the "wrong" spot at the back entrance. Given it was our first time at the hotel, we followed the directions of our gps, which took us to the back entrance. A professional person, would have nonchalantly offered to park our car for us, without making such a fuss. She also did not properly explain to us what was in our package. Next, we got there at 12pm, and although we were aware that check in time was at 3pm; usually hotels (given that we are travelling with an older person, and a dog) are sensitive enough to immediately call housekeeping to have the room made as soon as they can, to get in a little earlier than 3pm. But even at 3pm, the room was not ready. We had to wait other 30 minutes, and only then were we able to get into our room. This is completely not the service we had expected from a hotel like this. They gifted us a small bottle of champagne to apologise for the inconvenience, and although it was a nice gesture, it was not what we would have wanted. We were coming from the Bellevue hotel in Bern, their sister property, and we always stay in these kinds of hotels. What we expect, not even for the price, but for the standards and sensitivity of 5 stars properties is not free apology gifts, but an exceptional service, which is absolutely not what we received at this property. The next day, we also had other issues with the cleaning. I had to call 3 times in the span of 3 hours for the room to be cleaned. The cleaning is done well, but the timing it takes is out of control. We only stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and, between the late check in, and the late housekeeping, we had to stay in the room the entire morning and until 3pm, when they finally came, waiting for housekeeping, because we couldn't leave the dog alone in the room, or else it wouldn't have been made. Even the concierge for the car was not welcoming. Nobody said good morning, or good night, or was even aware that we were guests there. The spa is nice, but too many kids at all times, and even after 4pm, when splash time was supposed to be over, the kids were still playing with their parents and splashing over. We are very disappointed with the hotel's philosophy and management. This is definitely not a place for us, and I am very surprises at all the good reviews because, honestly, if you have been to the Four seasons, the Ritz, or even the Bellevue in Bern at least once in your life, there is no way that you can like this place. I expect the matter to be escalated to the general director of the hotels, not just the manager of this one.
