Haven't been here in a very long time. The Steak Burrito was as good as I remembered it being. Fast service and decent pricing need to be noted.

Steak Burrito was Delish! However, the fact that the Bathroom Door does not lock kinda took away from my experience as I had a Visitor! Please fix your Bathroom Door.

I've been going here since well my parents were taken me years ago, foods always been excellent with reasonable prices. Just pay attention to the parking signs. O yeah & the best horchata around!

The steak burrito is one of the best out there! Probably been here 30 times and it’s always solid!

Ordered a torta and enchilada mole meal. The mole wasn’t the best and had more melted cheese than mole sauce. Needed more mole was very dry. The rice was okay nothing special and beans okay. Prices are affordable which prompted me to try. Torta was flavorful big pieces of meat. Would try again Just not the mole.

First place I ever had a giant burrito!! Over 30 years ago! They are the best! I compare all other places to this place just wish they were open 24 hours like they used to be Viva burrito 🌯!!!!

Okay the food is excellent a great value tastes good probably one of the best burrito places on the south side although the environment does not much they can do about Bullet Hole in the glass kind of gives it a rough vibe in my opinion. Building on the inside has patina but history it's a good south side of Rio joint great to bring a friend. Neighborhood is kind of sketchy so lock your car turn your rings inside and hide your bling unless you got Steel on you. Can't say enough about the burritos and tacos though really good nice people that work there too.

So I've ordered from this place twice, both on UberEats. The first time was decent, the burrito was good and the rice n beans were good! HOWEVER, this second time I was definitely scammed. I ordered a burrito dinner with extra meat, and as you all can see I basically got a veggie burrito. There was little to no meat and the majority of it was just avocado, lettuce and sour cream. I'm not a huge "health fanatic" but I gotta say with those ingredients being the majority of the burrito it was just a giant ball of fat. I barely ate anything, I'm honestly upset but it's whatever. Probably won't order from them again after this experience

I wouldn't give this restaurant any stars I ordered nachos. My chicken was boiled. Smelled funny no seasoning barely any cheese.

I've been coming here since the burrito was about 2 bucks. That said I've never had a bad meal here. The burritos are massive and very good. The tacos are also excellent. Make sure to try the hot sauce and the carrots!

First delayed my order then charged me $9.31 without any warning for canceling the order due to delay. The time difference was over 30 minutes. I'm happy for them that they got compensated for whatever inconvenience they suffered. Hope the $9.31 was worth this review and losing a customer. Beware they will take your money and you won't even get your food!

Had a taste for a taco and chili relleno. My partner had a steak and pork burrito, outstanding. I ordered a taco with lettuce, cheese and sour cream and the chili relleno. I have my new go to. I took the chili relleno and put it on top of the taco. Try it if you want a chili and meat. The service was great and the place was well kept.

About a 1-1.5: El Faro had consistently been rated as the locals for having the best burritos in the Chicagoland area - unfortunately, I have to disagree. Besides burritos, the menu also includes tacos, tortas, tostadas, as well as breakfast plates, dinner options (such as milanesa de res, enchiladas, chile rellenos, etc.), weekend specials (such as menudo and pozole), and even vegetarian options. I ordered a Steak & Chile Relleno giant burrito, which usually comes with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and beans; I opted out of the lettuce and tomatoes, just in case I had any leftovers and didn't want to reheat those veggies. I'm glad that I did, as the burrito was definitely 'giant-sized', and it was definitely more than enough to spread of 2-3 meals! The burrito itself was okay - while the filling was super generous, I just wished the chile relleno and the steak were both more flavorful; they were actually kind of bland, and I had to douse it with hot sauce. In addition, the refried beans were a little goopy and had a funny taste to them, which I was a little sad about, since I love refried beans. The tortilla was not fresh, as the edges were dry and hard; I think they were supposed to grill it so that the edges could be sealed and the inside could be heated through, but the main kicker was that the burrito filling was cold in temperature - not cool! Service was quick and efficient, and even though there was a line, it moved along pretty fast. I can see why, as the food just seemed to have already been made and just needed to be quickly assembled, rather than making it fresh and served hot... I really wanted the fresh and tasty experience as others have had, but no dice. I'm glad I was able to check El Faro out, but wouldn't return. This place always delivers. One thing I forgot is the plastic cutlery is awful.. so stick to burritos (not suizo).

Even though I love the food at El Faro, I still gave it only 1 star. on Fri. afternoon May 3oth, 2025 we went to El Faro in Summit. when we got there wife was hungry, and I hadn't made up my mind yet, so I said go ahead and order her food. she ordered a burrito and a drink, and paid with a credit card, but didnt get a receipt. In front of me, a lady had returned to say she was charged for 4 burritos, but she only received 3. the person at the register argued with her that she did receive 4 and wouldn't give her another burrito. she stormed out very upset. I then ordered a burrito. we we got our orders, I got the one burrito I ordered, but my wife got 2 and was charged for both, and 2 drinks! when we said the order was wrong, and she only ordered 1 of each, the guy at the register was very cocky and said no, she ordered 2 of each and refuse to fix the bill!! I used to go here on a regular basis when I was younger, but NEVER again! Very disappointing......

It the same! Burrito was sooo small. It was Taco Bell sized. Tortilla shell sides touched because there was so little.

Amazing place with extremely delicious food. The service was perfect and quick. The portions are great so I wouldn't change a thing.

This place has made a comeback from my previous post. Great tacos which is my preferred item. The taste of the beef and pork along with the soft corn tortillas makes for a very enjoyable experience. I'll have to return super hungry so that I may re-experience their burritos.

Believe it or not, this place serves the best carne asada burrito in the midwest. Drive 50 mins for it multiple times a month. It's a treasure. (I've lived in LA surrounded by Mexican food) this is as legit as they come. 10/10

Delivery man left food on the ground outside. Order was incomplete, missing ingredients that I paid extra $$ for. Very disappointing.

Went in there 15 days ago I had the scramble eggs and ham breakfast plate. It came with rice to my surprise. Though rice was somewhat crunchy. Service was quick. The place at had only two customers. We were happy

Always the number one burrito destinations for me, for over 30 years. It really is the original big ass burrito. Still, the steak burrito is unparalleled. Have enjoyed everything here. Interior is a bit grungy but that's part of the character. The horchata is addictive and the burritos are still massive. I even enjoyed the delicious Taqueria style pickled Jalapenos and Carrots at every table. Always good for takeout. But I still recommend eating in when it is fresh and hot.

El Faro is an incredible restaurant where you can find delectable and truly Spanish foods. Its warm atmosphere is very comfortable and friendly, making it a perfect place for relaxation and eating. All the workers are sympathetic and responsible meaning that each visit will be enjoyable. I was particularly attracted to their paella, which tasted of sharpness and was well done. Moreover, there is quite a range of tapas in the menu from which you may select your best option; these tastes are also exciting. This food is not expensive especially if its quality is taken into account. So I would suggest El Faro to all those who want to try out some amazing dishes.

The best steak around! I love coming here day or night, the food is always so fresh and brings me back to when I lived in the area. The burritos are so large for the price I always have to save the rest for later. My number one pick for mexican food!

Great Place since forever! Great Burritos and Tortas too ! The only thing that has changed about this place are the prices ! We always stop there when we are coming back from the Sox games on our way back to Joliet.

My favorite burrito place in the southwest suburbs. Food comes out hot and fast every time and is very consistent!

The food was horrible had some nachos and they put my nachos in the microwave and used regular shredded mozzarella cheese. Asada had no seasoning and the guac and chips tasted so old. Do no recommend. I'm so disappointed

This was my first time visiting El Faro; it wasn't what I expected! When we arrived the line was pretty long; it seemed like a good spot to try out and I thought I would enjoy it but not so much! The service was great; it was a long line but we received are food quickly. I also like that this place is affordable! The food was not so good to me. The rice was delicious but the beans were watery and laid underneath a layer of thick cheese. The tacos wasn't better for me; the meat was dry and unseasoned; and the taco corn shell didn't seem cooked. Their taco shells were chewy and seem to be thrown from the bag to my plates. My friend who also ordered food didn't receive her full order. She ordered three tacos/paid for three tacos and only received two! I will try again; but only because we arrived 30 minutes before closing and I'm assuming they were rushing to get our food done. At this point, I will not recommend. I plan to try them again and update my review!

My family orders from here about once a week, and the food is delicious. But everytime we place an order we always have food thats inaccurate or are missing an entire food order. This is unacceptable and infuriating. So I do heavily regret that this is not a place that I can order from anymore and that other people shouldnt order from. If you want all the food you order the way you order it then go somewhere else.

The service is horrible they will get your order wrong and when you call to tell them they'll hang up... WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!

We eat here once a week and the food is always good and hot! The yelp site for this restaurant needs some updating especially with the hours of operation being correct.

Been awhile since i have been here. So when we went to a Hawks game we decided to stop on our way home and so glad we did. Food is better than i remember, steak tacos are delicious! Place is clean and will definitely be back! This time, i won't wait too long!

I was a regular for this place twenty years ago when I lived in the area. The food was fantastic and the quality of the steak meat was juicy and tender. I haven't been here in a long time. Visited this place in the morning craving tacos. Walked in and saw that huge mountain of steak on the grill. It looked awesome. Got my steak burritos. The cook was operating like a chef. The delivery was a burrito that was fairly burnt. The meat was dried out. I asked for a manager to share my concerns for a replacement. He said "no". First class Customer service. What was more concerning is food handlers don't wear gloves. An associate mopped the floor during lunch hours amd I was welcomed with the smell of cleaning sop while eating along with other patrons. Unsanitary conditions.

Old classic - great Tacos, Burritos and Torta's. You can not go wrong with anything here and extremely affordable!

They put about a heart attacks worth of grease in their burritos. And if that's not bad enough, there are LARGE chunks of boney, unidentifiable gristle in them. And if that doesn't put you off, the meat is old crusty meat that's been overcooking on the grill for a really long time and becomes like shards of "beef". Also, when paying with CC, they penalize you and add an extra charge that they see fit, in with the total. I can understand this for totals of $10 or less, but we spent $40, yet they still snuck in a random charge. Unethical.

20 years later and nothing has changed, the best giant burrito in Chicago period! 8 bucks (before taxes) for a burrito, gets you a full stomach and a grin on your face.

Got a steak burrito and it was really good! I hate when burritos are too greasy and fall apart, but this one was just right. Thankful to have this place local!

My first trip to Chicago, years ago, I went here on a recommendation of someone that claimed this spot to be the best burrito joint. A bold statement like "best joint" merits a visit, so I went. Fast forward all these years later and El Faro is usually my very first stop. I've tried several of their styles (usually by trying other people's) but I stay true to my absolute favorite, the steak and tongue combo with extra cilantro and onion. The attached picture won't do justice, you simply have to be there and hold this mammoth burrito, to believe it for yourself. Take my word, drop by and give em a try!

Even though they opened a El Faro 2, just 5 blocks from my house. This is still the best! Steak burrito everything, avocado, and sour cream. Make it a dinner, rice, and beans. Large Horchata. BOOM!... Speechless!!........

What can I say? The best steak burritos in the state. I've been coming here for over 30 years, and usually drive more than an hour to get here. We'll worth it!

Dicey but delicious. At first I was really disappointed that a burrito with everything was pretty much just meat, lettuce and tomato. It seemed very perfunctory and lacking. But once I added sour cream and some salsa, the flavor was really addictive and I ate the whole thing. Not a place I would go out if my way to visit, but I would return if I'm in the area, especially since they are open late.

Decent food decent prices. I can't quite give the place 4 stars because it's a bit run down inside but the food itself is pretty on point. There's also something pretty sweet about a 24x7 Mexican joint for those post concert / late nights when nothing else is open. Worth checking out.

Nothing like a fresh steak burrito after some Heinekens-weekends starting at 5pm the line can get very long so if you don't wanna wait 1/2hr or so beat it!!

I love this place. Been going for about 6 years now. I don't live in Chicago area anymore but I always try to go when I'm in town. I still consider El faro's burrito the best burrito i've ever had. They are always friendly and quick. The food is always delicious and they always give complementary green sauce with the food. They tend to be very busy during dinnertime but move the line along well. They are also open late which is what got me hooked in the first place. The music is always great too. Overall I give el faro 10/10.

Food is great! The burritos are huge and at a great price! This location is open twenty four hours, seven days a week. There can be a line at times, but they are super fast!
