On the Grid : The Third Bird

"The Third Bird among Minneapolis’s best restaurant real estate. With high ceilings and south-facing windows, it gives you a picturesque view of Loring Park. They have a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails and the food isn’t anything to laugh at either. Landing on a menu that is modern, yet approachable it is sure to have something for everyone. It's also one of the only restaurants in the area open for lunch, making the decision an easy one at lunchtime." - Spyder Trap

We had a good experience. It wasn't exceptional, it also wasn't bad. I am basing my overall rating on whether or not I would recommend this joint to a visitor who only has one day or few hours to spend in town, or in the area. But, I have also only visited this place once. I still hope to upgrade my overall rating by one or two stars, because, I like this place, and I think there is potential for a higher rating. I like those mini-doughnuts. Delicious! Keep doing that. The food on the other hand was good, I was expecting the food to be exceptional. I had the vegetable hash. It was good, but, it wasn't as coherent as I was expecting. The drinks were good as well: I had the "whiskey makes me frisky." I will go back to try this restaurant again.

Such a fun spot near Loring Park and downtown. Interesting menu and great wait staff. I had the Brown Rice Bowl. Loved it. A good choice for our multigeneration family get together. Distinctive architecture and decor. And easy parking. A bonus for this part of town.

Cute location, great food, what more could you want? I had scrambled eggs with a quinoa pancake (both YUM) and we split the cutest little doughnuts. Pro tip: consume ALL the doughnuts while warm. We came on May 4th and they had a cute little screening of Star Wars

Ordered breakfast burger, salmon bagel with side of an over easy egg. Food tasted delicious! Bagel was soft and fresh with good amount of smoked salmon and cream cheese spread. Husband ordered the breakfast burger. Menu was small but enough items to choose from. A lot of healthy options. service was really quick during brunch on a Friday. They surcharge their customers for employee health insurance costs

Food was unique. Flavor profiles are definitely not the standard... Which I can appreciate. The wife got a dish with tofu, faro rice and kimchi (poached eggs on top). I got the vegetables hash with poached eggs. I am curious about other menu items now :-)

This place is ideal for for a quick lunch. The mahi tacos are super delicious and now they come with fresh chips and salsa. Service is always friendly and welcoming and they do care about your experience at the restaurant.

Fantastic brunch spot right next to Loring Park and across from the Walker Art center. This quaint little restaurant serves up bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's along with an array of fresh takes on many traditional breakfast plates. Highly recommend the roasted tomato and spinach Benedict even to those who are not huge veggie fans. The ensemble of flavors and homemade hollandaise is guaranteed to leave your tastebuds satisfied.

The food was very good but portions were small with my eggs and vegetables hash but other meals had a very good portion. Service was great and the atmosphere was clean and inviting.
