I wanted to love this place because when the experience is good, it’s truly great. However, when it falls short, it’s quite disappointing. I’ve visited several times. The first visit was excellent, so much so that we brought our family back. On the second visit, the food didn’t meet expectations—the rice served with my fish was undercooked and hard, making it inedible. They did offer an alternative side. On a another visit, the food was again very good with no complaints. However, on the most recent visit, the same issue with undercooked rice occurred, and the fish lacked flavor. Overall, it seems you have to hope for a good day to fully enjoy the meal here.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and unfortunately will also be our last. They were very busy when we got there, so the long wait wasn't a surprise. They told us 30-35 minutes, it ended up being an hour. Frustrating, but things happen. However, when we came in, they put our name on a list on an app. At the hour point, they asked everyone in the waiting room who was next. The list has gone missing somehow, and we had to *debate* another party about what order we had come in. We sat down, put our drink order in, got our drinks, and then continued to wait. The other parties behind us were served while we continued to wait. My husband had to track down another waiter to go find ours. We ordered and waited some more. When the food came, our waiter put the food down quickly and split. We didn't have silverware, so we assumed he was coming back. He was not. My husband couldn't find any other staff at this point and tracked down silverware on his own. I got the crab cake, which may stand as the only crab cake I didn't finish in my life. I was thinner than I expected from the photos on other reviews, and extremely salty. They seemed to be rationing remoulade sauce, as there was barely a fingernail's worth on top. Some of the greens served with it were going bad. The special (pork ribeye) my husband ordeded was good, so we both ate that. The red beans and rice were also good, although it was a little thin on sausage. The waiter eventually showed up to check on us after we were done, and we quickly asked for the check before he disappeared again. This was an overall very frustrating experience, although I don't blame the individual wait staff for it. They were clearly short handed with the waiters doubling as host while simultaneously trying to wait tables AND do closing tasks. It's management's responsibility to make sure there is enough staff for every shift. If you don't have enough employees to run a restaurant, then you're not paying enough to attract good people. I also sorta suspect the person serving us was a manager as they were the only one not wearing an apron and the staff that did wear aprons appeared much more attentive to their tables.

Really enjoyed our night out. It was my husbands birthday and he had been wanting to go here and our son text us and told us to go eat dinner on him and to go somewhere good so we chose GSC. Everything was great.

Google
I had an amazing experience at Galveston Seafood Company! From the moment we walked in, the host set the tone with top-notch customer service — welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. It’s rare to feel so taken care of right from the start, but they absolutely nailed it. The restaurant itself was spotless and beautifully maintained. You can tell they take real pride in keeping everything clean and comfortable for their guests. It made the whole dining experience even better knowing we were in such a well-kept environment. Now let’s talk about the food — the crab legs were out of this world! Perfectly seasoned, full of juicy, packed flavor with every bite. You could taste the freshness and care that went into preparing them. Honestly, they were some of the best I’ve ever had. To top it off, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the quality of the seafood. If you’re anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and stop by Galveston Seafood Company. Amazing service, a great atmosphere, unbeatable crab legs, and fantastic prices — it’s easily a new favorite!

Google
Galveston seafood Company is one of the best places to eat in Abilene. The seafood is always fresh and delicious, and there’s a large variety to choose from. There are daily lunch specials, all $13 or less. There is a senior menu that has a variety of items, includes drink, and dessert, And only cost $7.99 a person. There are two locations, one in North Abilene, and one in South Abilene. If you are in Abilene, Galveston, Seafood Company is a must try.

Google
Absofrigginlutely loved this place. Our waiter was engaging , friendly, polite, customer service oriented, and extremely knowledgeable about the rich history of the building itself and the owner. The interior for me was fabulous architecture that you don't see any more. The food was excellent and you could tell the chefs loved their jobs. Plating was excellent, portions were awesome and the flavor was perfect from entrée to main course to desert. I strongly suggest going here if you like excellently prepared seafood. Oh and the owner made the menu of so many well prepared foods. If I'm in the neighborhood again I'll stop in because this place is how seafood restaurants should be. 11 stars out of 10 for me.

Google
My family and I came in today around noon & had the BEST server ever. She was so sweet and attentive. I wish I recalled her name but I would come back just to sit in her section! Food was amazing. 10/10 recommend!

Eileen H.

Yelp
The atmosphere, settings and waitress were outstanding. The food was literally the best I've had in all of Abilene, and we've tried ALOT! Thank you Kim, for the lovely experience!

Yelp
This place is awesome! Starting with Peyton, our precious waitress, our visit was wonderful. We started with the gator bites for appetizers, then had the fried catfish with remoulade (her) and the blackened redfish with collards (me). And those collards; I'd go back just for another bowl of those! Peyton learned it was our first visit to Abilene (and our anniversary!), and treated us to dessert. Needless to say, we left full and very glad we chose to visit Galveston Seafood.

Yelp
Worth another update! I finished my meal and thought that was incredible! I still can't fathom that there is such great seafood in Abilene, Texas! This food was somehow fresher than the meals I had on a recent trip to Port A! The crab cakes are delicious. Quality and Quantity here.. just phenomenal! The AC seemed to be broken the day we decided to come here for dinner, but the food made the dining experience worth it! I think that says a lot in itself. Our waitress went above and beyond! Wonderful service. Can't recommend Galveston Seafood Company enough. It looks unassuming on the outside, but you're in for a solid meal! You'll come back for more.

Yelp
We had the seafood platter (fried catfish & shrimp) and the fried shrimp po'boy. The catfish was light and crispy, fried to perfection. The po'boy was so loaded, it was impossible to eat it as a sandwich (I tried). It was so delicious though. Bite sized shrimp with just the right amount of batter and lightly fried. The sauce gave it the perfect flavor and the veggies were fresh. The sides for our dishes were hush puppies, greens, and fries. All had good flavor.

S H.

Yelp
My catfish was swimming in grease on my plate, I asked if it could be drained or padded dry and they tell me that's how it comes. The waitress was very rude. The place was disgustingly dirty. I will never go back. They need to be shut down by the health department.

Roger M.

Yelp
When we went they were out of three items that we tried to order on Dec 23 at 7:30 pm.

Yelp
The food at Galveston was great. Portions were huge we had left overs. Its a great time if younever been there you should try it.
google avatar

Yelp
The reviews were right. The chicken fried steak was fantastic and huge! Mashed potatoes great. Okra good. Could have used more gravy. Steak was extremely tender and very crunchy.

Yelp
Ok, we like Galveston Seafood so much, here's another update. Here lately, this place has really impressed me. The senior menu is great for a lighter meal, and I see lots of seniors here. It even includes dessert! The lunch menu has a lot of variety and good prices. But my go to lately is the daily specials. Different every day and priced right, the specials are really good! I've done the hamburger steak and the chicken fried pork steak. Both are excellent, and come with 2 sides. Next I want to try the New York strip and the smothered pork chops. With a different special every day, you could come 7 days a week! The staff is always wonderful, and my compliments to the kitchen. See you soon!

Yelp
Always good food. I recommend the boil plates and the chicken sandwich. Yum!!! But what makes this place amazing is the service. Justo is a shining star! He is always on top of his game, and he makes the atmosphere awesome.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
The blacked redfish meal called The Cajun was really good! Season well and good balance of textures! Interior decor didn't scream "seafood" but either way I'll definitely come back and try few other items!

Yelp
Stopped here on our way through town because of the reviews. Our daughter almost talked us out of stopping when we pulled into the parking lot because the building is unremarkable but we are all so glad we came! Hubby and I ordered the senior meal with two catfish fillets and he had Cole slaw and I had fries. The catfish was delicious and served hot and crispy. The homemade roumalade sauce was a great addition. Our daughter ordered the salad off of the lunch menu u with blackened salmon. She was very impressed with the freshness and serving size of the salmon. We will definitely stop here again if we come through Abilene.

Yelp
We were driving across the state on our way to the west coast. We stopped in looking for a good meal that was not fast food. We came in about 30mins before closing and we were greeted by the host and taken to our table. The restaurant furniture is a bit out dated and but clean. The service was great although we felt rushed as they were cleaning up all around us. The most important part of our visit was the food which was excellent. My father and I were very impressed by the taste of the food. If you are looking for some really good seafood in Abilene this is a great place to get some southern seafood! I would definitely go back again.

Regi L.

Yelp
Went to the restaurant on Saturday. (Good news): It was crowded but I made reservations so we were seated immediately. My first thought was the place looked like it needed some cleaning. Our waitress was very pleasant. (Bad news): we ordered the gater bites and calamari for appetizers. Both dishes were very dry and tasteless. The lobster mac and cheese was good. The shrimp and grits looked nothing like they should have nor did it look anything like the photos on the website. It was terrible. We will not be going back!

Yelp
Best seafood I've eaten in a long time. The seafood potato salad is awesome. It was straight up 12:00 and the place was super crowded we were seated right away and were served quickly. The fish tacos were delicious. The fish and chips were delicious.

Yelp
Amazing seafood and amazing service. The ambience is very special. Rob does a spectacular job running Galveston. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Seafood platter with shrimp and catfish was amazing, Lightly breaded and well seasoned. Seafood pasta lunch special was big and hearty, also had blackened shrimp poorboy egg my wife loved. We come here every time we're in Abilene.

Yelp
Was excellent, don't let the outside appearance of this restaurant fool you!! The food was great, the service was excellent and the overall experience was top notch!!!

Yelp
This place is a surprise! It looks like a hole in the wall but the food and service were amazing! We had the Redfish Pontchartrain and shrimp etouffe. Shrimp kisses for an appetizer. It was all delicious. Will definitely come again!

Cliff H.

Yelp
Maybe best catfish in town. Love the OG vibe. A little noisy for conversation, but not too bad.

Tina H.

Yelp
Ordred lunch to go for the office yesterday. I had never had the food but heard great things. Everyones meals looked delicious as did mine but was unable to eat it because it was so salty. Ended up wasting 18 dollars on unedible shrimp tacos. Wish I had ordered something else. I'm sure it was a one off, but a bit disappointing.

David K.

Yelp
We are not from here, but decided to go for some fried catfish The meal was good portion size was large but come to find out it's not American catfish it is the infamous Y yes a Vietnamese catfish so now everybody and their brother is getting the stuff and selling it at their establishments as catfish other than that, everything was delicious. Yes, we will go back again.

Yelp
So I've always wanted to try this place i've always heard such good things about it so we went when we knew it wouldn't be very busy and it wasn't. The restaurant was almost empty, but we still sat in the front for maybe a good 15 minutes to be sat, which is fine we're pretty easy-going so we were seated pretty much next to the entrance where there was like an Alexa speaker on with very loud music. Normally that doesn't bother me at all, but I was with my parents and my daughter and we all kept saying "what, what?" Over and over because we couldn't hear each other talk over the music. We asked the waitress if she could turn the music down just a little bit and she kind of gave us like a rude look and mumbled something like no we can't do that. So we were like well, This sucks and proceeded to kind of have to yell at each other in conversation over the table. What was really funny was when the waitress came to take our order she kept having to ask us to repeat ourselves because she couldn't hear us over the music so she finally went over and turned the music down. We got a good chuckle off of that. The food was good. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest but I'm not sure we would frequent this place mostly because the prices were really high.

Yelp
Definitely a gem !!!! Make sure u stop here if ur in the mood for great seafood! You can't go wrong here , if ur in the area or passing through this place is worth a stop Customer service amazing! Everyone was friendly start to finish. From the moment we walked in till the moment we left. The waitstaff to the chef all greeted us Our waitress Kaylie was OUTSTANDING!! friendly, attentive and made the overall experience better Food : they do not skimp out on portions you definitely can split. Great quality Great prices Blacked salmon was cooked perfectly Calamari was extremely good Only thing I will say they can go a little harder on the spices Parking; lots of parking spots Inside: fairly large Only wish they didn't have there fans on full blast made food cold Looks kinda run down but definitely a great spot to stop give it a try looks can be deceiving

Su K.

Yelp
" truffle fries" they sold did not even see a single flakes on the frieis... who know what was used to taste like truffles? maybe artificial flavor MSG.. you should be more honest and clear about what you are selling

Retha C.

Yelp
Best seafood in Abilene. Everything I've ordered has been top notch! The south side location is a beautiful place and you can't get better service. My favo restaurant!

Rhonda G.

Yelp
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I think they could use some remodeling but the food and staff was amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
We visit Abilene 3-4 times a year and usually dine at the same places each trip. I wanted to find something, so I Yelped and found Galveston Seafood, checked out their menu online, and gave'em a go. We had the calamari appetizer to start. Fresh, lightly breaded, delicious! I ordered the redfish which had crab meat and andouille sausage bits on top, in a cream based cajun sauce and all of that deliciousness was on the best bed of grits I've ever eaten! My husband had the surf/turf with shrimp. He ate every bite. Both our dishes came with a side of asparagus wrapped in bacon. The staff was helpful and friendly. Ample parking. Party/Meeting room adjoining the main dining area. We will return on our next trip to try more of the menu!

Danita P.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place, because I have eaten there once before and was very pleased, plus I always read raving reviews about it. Unfortunately that was not my recent experience. It was a Saturday night and very busy. We were seated after about a ten minutes. The service was excellent... the food was not. I ordered the Seafood Chile Relleno plate. That was a mistake. The wrapping is instead of the traditional egg white, something between an egg roll and a deep fried tortilla. It was dry and flavorless. The topping was equally as disappointing. The filling was not impressive enough to carry it. The Elote corn was pretty good, as well as the shrimp. The rice was very plain. I have read others complain about the building itself and I didn't really have an issue with that.
google avatar

Theresa E.

Yelp
We arrived at 5:15 and got seated right away. Decent dinner crowd and they stayed busy. Our server "Mando Calrissian" greeted us right away and took our drink order. We ordered appetizer. Unfortunately the calamari was a fail again. Rubbery. And the shrimp kisses are kinda tiny for $13. The shrimp tacos were massive and very tasty. I could only eat 20% of my plate. Dad finished his burger. The amount of FF took an entire go box. Definitely recommend. Dinner for 3-$73
google avatar

Dennis F.

Yelp
Only reason I'm given it at 3 , it's because one of the main chefs in the red shirt was wiping his hands off on his dirty wretcher while preparing food he will grab food 1 glove on the left hand no glove on the right hand and when he put it on a grill he would wipe his hands on his dirty shirt!!! When you're working I'm a restaurant and need to keep the public and your fellow workers safe, especially with seafood, you need to be wearing gloves and an apron. If the city health inspector came by they would shut this location down. I really want to suggest that everyone in that Kitchen wear gloves and face mask to cover their facial hair and hair nets.. I found hair in my food, just disgusting!!!! Everybody needs to be using gloves during this covid 19 pandemic and pre covid 19 pandemic you are in the health food industry you should know better than wipe your hands on a dirty shirt that you've been wearing all day long or using the glove to push up your glass is then touching more food. Very disappointed with watching this and then to get back to my hotel to find hair in my food You guys have to do better

Yelp
I was very pleasantly surprised with our first visit. Normally popcorn shrimp are not very tasty, BUT these popcorn shrimp were great! The regular fried shrimp are good also, not as good as Pappadeaux, or Goode's in Houston, but the best I've had in Abilene since Cahoots closed. I rarely eat French fries but the fries disappeared. My only regret is that the catfish is not US raised catfish. It was very good fried fish just not what I consider to be real catfish. We will be back!!!!!!!

Leann W.

Yelp
Highly Recommend. Food was fantastic. I had the Salmon blackened with wild rice, with a crawfish, shrimp cheese sauce. My spouse had the Chicken fried steak, with mashed potato's and gravy. It was so big, it fed my mom at home too. Our waitress Ashley was very attentive to any questions, drinks etc. she's the one who suggested the crawfish, shrimp cheese sauce on the salmon. We will definitely be back.

Patrick E.

Yelp
I've lived in Abilene for over 20 years and I had never tried this place until now...Man have I been missing out!! The food was amazing. My girlfriend loved every bit of her country fried steak and the side were just as good. They have big portions for a respectable price and their specials are absolute steals!! The food was out of this world and so was the customer service. Our waiter Drew was one of the best waiters I've ever had. Props to this place, keep up the outstanding work!!
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
Lots of food on my plate. The chicken fried steak covered my plate. Red beans and rice had good favors. Very nice atmosphere and fast service. My wife was impressed with her shrimp alfredo. Stated that her plate was filled with shrimp.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
I was gonna be a tough critic st first But the fish and the other food completely made me forget about any of that. Because how good it was. You can literally see with your eyes how tastes it looks. The flavor is visible. This is one of these favorite food. The service was nice and good they Brought to the food to the table pretty quickly.

Robert C.

Yelp
Food was great and service was excellent. The plates are overflowing. Make you YouTube gator bites.

Zachary R.

Yelp
10/10 Best dining experience in Abilene. Food was absolutely amazing! Everything tasted fresh and was brought out very quickly! Service was the BEST I've had in Abilene. Shoutout to Mr. Justo Reyes for giving us great recommendations and making our dinner exceptional. Will be returning!

Teresa B.

Yelp
First off our waitress Amber, was amazing! She kept an eye on us and very available to our needs. Second, the food as wonderful! I had the blackened catfish and shrimp, it as just right portion for an appetite like mine (usually have half a plate left over). My spouse had the fried catfish, popcorn shrimp and we had an appetizer of crab claws! The meal was just right, a very enjoyable meal!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Everything physical about this place is wrong. The sign is something you could easily miss. The parking lot is small. The building looks like something out of Bavaria both inside and out, nothing that even resembles a seafood restaurant. BUT...the staff are very kind and attentive, the service is fast and the food...THE FOOD! Just amazing! This place is a real gem in Abilene. If you haven't eaten here, you need to!

Danny C.

Yelp
Called to check availability. Person I spoke to was very condescending. She said usually have to make a reservation two hours ahead of time, but said they didn't expect to be very busy that particular evening. And she would try to make an exception this time and try to get us in when we arrived. BAD customer service, she acted like she was doing is a favor by allowing us the privilege to dine at their establishment. We were not impressed!
google avatar

Leatha G.

Yelp
Smell is awful. Neither time I ordered did the product live up yo hype. Definitely need a little TLC on location.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
The food is the best seafood I have had, it's fresh and cooked perfectly. The service is amazing, everyone e is very friendly and helpful. You truly feel like family. Even though the building was older, it was cozy and felt like home.
google avatar

Carol B.

Yelp
They have great food , I really like the chicken fried steak. The wait staff are very helpful and friendly.

Yelp
The food was great! The service was exceptional. The atmosphere fits perfectly for a seafood restaurant located in a land-locked west Texas town. Really enjoyed it.

Yelp
AMAZING PLACE!!! Excellent food & service. Don't let the exterior deter you from this place.

Yelp
We came here with hopes for a good meal and were SO pleasantly surprised! We are from Houston and there are only a few restaurants in Abilene that we have gone to more than once, and we can't wait to return to Galveston Seafood Company. Fresh seafood isn't exactly easy to come by in West Texas, but they have it and it is DELICIOUS! For an appetizer, we started with the calamari, and it was wonderful. I saw a couple of review who stated that you receive a huge portion of marinara and I second that. Still, I would rather have too much than not enough. We usually order two meals that we both want and then share between us so we ordered the redfish and a fried sampler. The fried shrimp was the best thing I have had in ages. The catfish was just like I like it. I prefer thin fillets as the thicker ones tend to taste "catfishy" to me. My meal came with fries but I added red beans and rice just to try them. They did not disappoint. Their recipe uses more tomato than I am used to but that extra gives it such a wonderful flavor. I'll definitely start doing that with my own when I make it at home. Our other dish was the redfish topped with gumbo and crawfish tails. The texture and flavor were perfect. I could eat it every day. We were too full for desert, and also didn't order any drinks from the bar. However, we were happy to notice that they serve filtered water. (Seriously so many restaurants in Abilene don't filter the water and it is a small thing that goes a long way in my book) Everyone in the building was friendly. Our server was attentive and I appreciated that he was quick to pre-bus rather than letting us sit with dirty unused dishes. The servers in the sections close by all seemed to be just as attentive and friendly. The restaurant was on a wait when we arrived. They told us 20-25 minutes but it was closer to 10. Maybe they quoted a longer wait time just in case, or perhaps the large party that was in the lobby that left in a huff because they had to wait cleared out the queue. Either way, we didn't mind and after eating there I am glad to wait however long needed next time we are there. The group that (thankfully) left had a man that was about 6'5" and at least 325 lbs that was yelling at the host and putting his finger in her face and shaking the host stand in the midst of his hissy fit. His wife was right up there with him egging him on. The manager was so polite as this guy was acting like an angry toddler. Call me old fashioned but nobody has any business being physically intimidating to another person (much less a woman who is less than half his size) or putting his hands anywhere near her much less slamming his hands on the host stand. It's abusive and it's unacceptable. The staff apologized over and over for the disruption which I appreciated but was unnecessary. They handled him professionally when he deserved zero courtesy. Thank goodness he left. Everyone in the lobby cheered when he was gone and we went on to have a lovely meal.
