Blue Water Grille

1st time customer and will be returning! My wife and I started with the escargot($16) and loved it. I ordered 2 small plates with BBQ duck($16) and short rib($17). Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the large plate with tuna($45/MKT). We sat next to a fish tank. Kind of neat watching the unique fish swim around right next to us. Our waitress was wonderful, and checked on us a reasonable amount without being overbearing. We also ordered desserts to go choosing the Caramel banana cheesecake. Very good and interesting take on it as it was served like an egg roll cut in half diagonally. It had tasty candied pecans on top as well. We will absolutely return and try other things on the menu. Overall a very nice 3 course dinner for 2 was $150 and was worth the price. That also included two cocktails that were $16 each.

This is my new favorite weekend spot. I have been a few times now, and I always sit at the bar. The food is wonderful! I always start with a crab bisque, and last time for my entree I had the salmon curry! I was nervous to try this one, but 10 out of 10! The drinks for the bar are top notch, and I love that the bartenders are so friendly.

Great discovery! We have to come back. Outstanding service. The crab and artichoke appetizer was delicious. The bouillabaisse was perfect. Great wine options.

Service here is very friendly but not necessarily the most attentive. Had to ask for water refills and salt. My son enjoyed his shrimp and grits. I got the scallops and the scallops were cooked perfectly. However, the dish definitely could have had more flavor and it needed salt. My Old Fashioned was great. The ambiance could be excellent here but we were sat near what turned into a very loud birthday party that screeched every time a new lady arrived, which made it extremely hard to carry on a conversation. We passed on dessert after the last screech fest. I’m all about having fun but if you’re going to act like you’re in a sports bar, hold your event there, or match the atmosphere and be respectful of other patrons. Someone working at the restaurant really should have said something.

Food was really great for me. Fresh and quick. I was arrived on open time. Just only annoying beside table really loud. I am almost deaf.

Such a great experience! We had a reservation so no wait when we arrived, and were quickly greeted by our server. He was knowledgeable about wine choices and helpful when making decisions about entries. For appetizers, I had the oysters and my partner had the Mac and cheese. Both were amazing. We had the halibut (pictured) and the filet mignon. I gave the halibut a 10/10, tasty fish, crisp and fresh asparagus, and the most savory and delicious grain with them. With the filet, the flavor was good, just the potatoes were slightly undercooked for our taste. I also had the lavender haze cocktail and it was phenomenal as well, all flavors mixing perfectly. In all an amazing experience with delicious food and quality service. 10/10, would absolutely return!

Highly recommend this restaurant for a date night. The food was 10 out of 10 . I had the tuna with crab fried rice . Everything was made with love from the chefs hands.The rice was seasoned and had the right amount of fresh crab .my wife had the scallops she said was fabulous!. If you are into chef inspired menu made from scratch like myself this is the place for you . I can't wait to go back.

Our first time here did not disappoint. We sat at a table in the bar. Our server, Travis was very attentive and knowledgeable. We start off with my ties and fried green tomatoes. I am ashamed to say I've lived in the south most of my life and have never had any before and these were outrageous! Perfectly seasoned and garnished with a cheese trap pate. I ordered the salmon with a salad and my husband ordered the dish. He came with two large shrimp. They are both very tasty, but the only thing I would say is that the chef was pretty heavy-handed with the salt twin grilling the fish. I figured out that I could just take the top of my fish off and it was very good We came on a Saturday night and the ambience was pretty chill. We enjoyed ourselves. We will be back again.

Excellent service although we came in at the very tail end of the evening with a last minute reservation. The ambiance was perfect for an intimate date night. The food was just as top notch as I remember. We enjoyed the Bbq duck and the Mahi. The duck was succulent and the Mahi flaked perfectly just as a piece of fish should and the sauce paired with it enhanced the flavor nicely.

Blue Water Grille is an absolute gem of a restaurant tucked away in High Point. We won a free dinner here through a realtors contest and was able to celebrate Valentines here. Unfortunately, our sitter fell through so we had to take our two daughters but it ended up being a great evening for all of us! With this, I wouldn't say it was a kid friendly restaurant per se because of the ambiance and food selection BUT our amazing server, Holly, made sure that we felt so welcomed! She was so caring for us and our daughter and knowledgeable about the food choices! Now the food was absolutely amazing! I got lamb chops and my husband got the tuna. The lamb was cooked a perfect medium rare and the mashed potatoes were delicious. My husband said it was the best tuna he has had in quite a while. We ordered a starter of fried green tomatoes topped with trout and I'm drooling just thinking of how delicious they were! My lemon drop martini drink was so refreshing and tasted like it had fresh squeezed lemon juice. The dining area here is so cool and the ambiance is classy but relaxed. There are fish tanks which was a big hit for us! Highly highly recommend!!!!

Great food, service and ambiance. One of the best in High Point. Pricey, and worth it for special occasions and business dinners.

This restaurant was a true disappointment. We love great seafood, but did not find any here. They were very understaffed. We will not try this place again.

Wonderful dinner. Even living in High Point for a year, I had never heard of Blue Water Grille until now. It's hidden away off of Main St. and just surprised this restaurant was always there. The food, pretty damn good. I especially was surprised by some of the Asian inspired dishes and flavors, and the descriptions didn't look "watered down". Once you walk in, it definitely felt like a fancy date-night spot. Served first with some good sourdough bread. Ambiance is nice, nothing looked really dated and I actually liked the style of chairs they have. A couple of fish tanks literally within the dining area and we were luckily enough to sit next to one. Our oyster appetizer was pleasant - flash fried oysters and it tasted exactly like that, flash-fried and not greasy or overly breaded. The dipping sauce that came it was alright. My Steak Frites came out absolutely perfect (medium). The fries had some old bay to it but not overpowering. It came with a Parmesan sauce that was great to dip. Service was pleasant, not the greatest but wasn't anything bad. Looking forward to trying other dishes. I highly recommend, especially for a date.

I am still thinking about this dinner from Blue Water Grill in High Point, NC. It is tucked in the heart of High Point and it is definitely a hidden gem. This is a great place for a date night or an upscale get together. The staff was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly. The menu is pretty versatile and has some asian inspired flavors that we were very surprised about. My Scallop & fresh made pasta was cooked perfectly with good sized scallops and the ingredients were fresh and made for a wonderful dish. The complimentary sourdough bread was great as well. The oysters were nice and tender with the right amount of batter. The fries came with an amazing Parmesan aioli. The steak was well seasoned and beautifully cooked to order. I will absolutely be back to try more dishes!

I love going back to High Point and reuniting with my college friends at some of our favorite spots! We stopped into Blue Water Grille for dinner last night and had an amazing experience! We shared a bottle of red and white wine from their wide selection, and then a pot stickers appetizer to start. Next we had a house salad and followed it up with some incredible desserts. I loved the chocolate torte, even though it wasn't exactly what I expected. It was more similar to a lava cake but still warm and tasty! The fried cheesecake and sorbet flight with cherry, mango, and lime was amazing!! Our waitress was kind and friendly, she made sure we had everything we needed and helped us pick which desserts to share! The atmosphere is more on the fancy side with dim lighting and stunning wooden tables. Lots of parking just outside the restaurant! An awesome spot for a fancier date night or friends night out!

This place is great. The location, parking lot, the food is incredible - don't skip dessert! And don't forget the unbeatable views!

This is a fine dining restaurant accessible to even folks on a modest budget. Excellent seafood and steaks along with first class service.

Omg this place really rocks. In Highpoint No Carolina for furniture shopping + looked up best seafood. This did not disappoint! My friend and I started with the Crab dip + house made crackers. The dip was really rich delish + crabby too! My starter was a lovely salad topped with gently fried Fresh oysters! Really great salad + the oysters were juicy + fresh. We shared a Halibut dish + Scallop w Pappardelle. Both dishes were great tasting. But the Halibut for me was just a bit overcooked (it was a thick piece) and the Scallops were awesome tasting, for me the pasta was got in the way of the awesome flavor, , both dishes were great tasting. Then we shared honestly the most sublime Key Lime Pie ever! Rich Creamy Limey + the Graham cracker crust beat out my mom's (sorry mom). Service we had the Most Delightful Sweet Kind person serving us. She even gave a big hug at the end of this great meal. Lovely calming ambience. Off the beaten path location but centrally located. Reservations are recommended. Enjoy!

Food is superb, service is excellent. We come to play in the NSAHOF golf tournament for years and always eat here at least once!!

First of all, we were excited because we read several positive reviews. I am not sure if they were having an off night, but our food was not good. The shrimp was not fresh and our other entrees were just blah. The prices are high and we could not believe that the quality of the food was so bad.

Wow!! What a dinner. I've been wanting to try @bluewatergrillenc for a long while now. It's difficult to get in because it has a good reputation for being a very high quality seafood restaurant. A friend invited me to dinner tonight and we got there early and sat at the bar. To start, our bartender/waitress was excellent! She suggested a drink to me and I am now a total fan of this cocktail- the French 75 with Prosecco instead of champagne, simple syrup, lemon juice and Hendricks Gin. She also triple checked everything and made sure our orders were perfect. I decided to try the special for tonight- the Seared Halibut with shredded Langostino scampi and a whole Langostino on top of the Halibut. This was very mild and tender with a light broth coating the pasta and meat. Just what I wanted. My friend got the Halibut with asparagus and the Bernaise sauce on the side with a glass of wine. It looked delicious as well. We, of course, had to get some dessert. Just look at these beauties! My banana caramel cheesecake was warm and stuffed into fried flour tortillas! I mean, can it get any better? The creme brûlée looks amazing, doesn't it? A classic to crack open with a spoon strike. Thank you for the the great company and 5 star night.

WOW! Like many we are starting to enjoy some of the finer dining options since getting vaccinated. We were fortunate to get a last minute table reservations and so thankful to have had the opportunity to dine at Blue Water Grille. We were served by Mr. John and entertained by Audrey. What a Dynamic Duo. A spectacular experience which started with appetizers (crab bisque and pot stickers). We stayed with seafood entrees---mahi-mahi and halibut. Both spectacular. But wait...there's more. My wife and sister-in-law split the bread pudding that had a small dose of ice cream on top. The creme brûlé complimented with coffee was a stunning way to end the evening. With the 3 courses and drinks, I was surprised with the modest bill. Valued and reasonable. Thanks for a great night.

After a long day of working my colleague and I stopped by Blue Water Grille for a bite to eat. We were a bit grubby because we'd been working on an estate clean out job. Neither of us had ever been to the establishment before. The hostesses were outright hostile and didn't want to seat us...we headed for the bar. Which is where we were planning to sit anyway. Customers in the bar were quite snobbish and it wasn't a friendly atmosphere or ambiance. Small bar area, very packed full and LOUD on a Wednesday evening. Originally the bartender was a bit brisk and not particularly friendly, but warmed up a bit once we ordered cocktails with top shelf liquors and high end items from the menu. The food was excellently prepared and pleasingly played! Deserts were decadent!

I went with a work friend and we sat at a high top in the bar. Great service. I started with a shrimp cocktail whose cocktail sauce was perfect. Next I had the filet with blue cheese. I asked for medium rare and got medium well. Only bad thing about the meal. The blue cheese made up for it being over cooked. I paired the meal with a pinot noir A to Z from Oregon. Loved it. I would give it another chance and try the scallops

The atmosphere is superb - as is the wait staff. It is truly an experience from first the atmosphere, then the smells, themselves was put together with care and close attention to detail, such that the experience of having a meal prepared for you to enjoy was certainly evident!

There was not a drink or item of food that was not excellent or unique. Service was great as well. Holly made us feel as if we'd been coming there for years. Highly suggest the NC Trout w/mushroom risotto, best risotto I've had in years. Ambiance was busy but tables were considerably spaced out so you felt a level of privacy.

Blue water grille is an amazing option for a nicer dinner in High Point. They always have great seafood!

Came while being on a work trip. They started the table off with mini breads and butter which was ok. We then ordered an an appetizer,crab dip this came with focaccia bread the dip was actually really good as it had actually pieces of crab. I ordered the salmon with soy ginger sauce this came with a side of mash and asparagus. Loved the salmon it was cooked to perfection! And the sides were also pretty tasty. One of my coworkers ordered trout with risotto and the other ordered bolognese. I tried the risotto and it was pretty good she liked her dish. As far as the bolognese she wasnt a fan i also tried this and i wouldnt order it definitely could have used more flavor. Id definitely recommend this place for a good fish!

You will need to start saving early this month to avoid this place. Or if price is no option, enjoy a nice small dining experience. I talk about price, because it's ridiculous to overlook at parking lot and pompous slow service. Ambiance is nice with aquarium's. And this is a local place for Emory-wood so you must endure financial and other types of racism/stereotyping here, and you experience will reflect the opinion of the staff lol.

Food was amazing service was wonderful staff was very friendly. Our waitress freya was the best we have had in a long time.

Bluewater Grille a classic locals place. I love fried shrimp fried flounder, fried oysters, and scallops. All of those are really good at the Bluewater Grill.

Food is about the same as Magnolia Blue down the road, but it is far more expensive. The ambiance, however, is much nicer. It is dimly lit, so if you have a visual impairment that could be problematic. Overall I would recommend for the experience of a nice dinner.

Finally found a place in High Point to get fresh seafood. They had a bunch of fish of the day on the menu, and fresh scallops. I asked the waitress how fresh they were, like fresh out of the freezer, but she said "of course, never frozen." I was skeptical, but I went with it anyway. I could instantly tell they were fresh. They were plump and had a really good bite to them. It was sweet, with a hint of brininess, and cooked perfectly. Not overdone to the point of rubbery, but not raw in the middle (although I love eating them raw at sushi restaurants). I got a kale salad or something as an appetizer, and it was actually exciting to be eating kale. I'm not sure if it even was kale, but it was very light and airy, and didn't have a bitter aftertaste. Even though it's pricey, I would definitely get it again and recommend it to everyone. They also put out bread and butter. The butter is homemade, but the bread isn't. We asked because we wanted to know where we could get some, but our waitress didn't know, or wasn't allowed to give away trade secrets. The four of us went through 2 baskets of it before our appetizers even came out. I was relieved the next day when I didn't get food poisoning from eating seafood in High Point. I will warn that it's definitely pricey here, even for northern Virginia standards. This place is reserved for special occasions, or business dinners.

We HIGHLY a recommend this restaurant. What a hidden Jen!! We were in town to visit a local college. Found this location via the yelp app. We had a part of our party w their jaw wired shut. The chef went out of their way to purée and strain their incredible soup so he could enjoy it! He was smiling w every bite!! The rest of us loved our meals (crab cakes, watermelon salad & steak). The key lime pie was very good too! Can recommend the house red wine as well. Service was 5 star as well. If you are in this area you want to eat here! Btw, it is hidden. Waze took us through a center w closed buildings. This is actually located behind the building lit up as 101.

I had the pleasure of dining at Blue Water Grille with a party of 8 last night to celebrate my daughter's (virtual) graduation from college. From start to finish, we had an exceptional dining experience. We arrived to find our table decorated for our celebration - a very nice touch. We were greeted by our waiter, who was friendly and accommodating throughout service - always there when we needed something but not overbearing. The bread served to start our meal, as mentioned in other reviews, was outstanding. After eating too much of it, we moved on to appetizers: 2 dozen oysters, Potstickers, and Calamari, all of which were enjoyed. I will mention that the oysters were perfectly shucked - absolutely NO grit and that the MP was $34/dozen. Everyone loved their entrees; NY Strips, Chicken, Scallops, Salmon, Halibut, Vegetable Pasta - we almost sampled the entire menu. I personally had the Salmon with grilled shrimp puttanesca, goat cheese polenta, asparagus and basil oil, and I would happily order that again. We ended our meal with a variety of desserts: chocolate tortes (a complimentary one was presented to the graduate,) which were rich, delicious lava cakes, bread pudding, a cookies & cream ice cream sandwich, and gelato, all of which were delicious. We will definitely return to Blue Water Grille for future celebrations and special date nights!

Great if you are a local. If you're not don't expect service. I was passing through town for one night. Googled best restaurants. This was it. As a single I sat at the bar right after they opened. Took the bartender 15 minutes to ask what I wanted to drink with only three other people at the bar. Shortly after the bar filled with locals. 45 minutes later and after two local couples had ordered their dinner (who sat down 20 minutes after me) I asked, "can I order dinner"? The bartender snarked "well, yes!?". I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, the filet. It was OK but nothing to write home about. A $130 check for a single and I was treated like crap.

After the local food critic's rave review of Blue Water, I knew we had to check this place out - and tonight we did. I don't always come away with the same opinions of a restaurant as he does, but this time we could be siamese twins. This is a hidden gem, literally. Finding it was the only off note of the evening, and that is nit picking. But, it is not an easy find, first time, and our little GPS lady seemed totally confused. She said our destination was on the right, but it wasn't - a Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank was. But there is a code, and it is 3. If you are coming from Main Street, it is the third "drive way" on the right. If you are coming from Johnson Street, it is the third "drive way" on the left. This is a softly lit, well decorated place, with interior walls that provide nooks, and soft corners. And there are several in-wall fish tanks that provide ambiance and amusement - one with a hard working catfish that is amazingly single minded. The wait staff, apparently an all female lineup, is exceptional - efficient, knowledgable, and friendly. We were seated quickly, drink orders procured, and a delicious bread soon followed. It was a crusty potato bread, which I really found nice - and I've always been of the opinion that potatoes should be mashed, fried or baked. There was a nice small plate of olive oil with basalmic vinegar. The Fried Calamari with 2 dips was excellent and plentiful. The Crab Bisque was as good as I've ever tasted - rich and creamy, with a mound of real crab in the center, and for $6. The Oscar Grouper was very nice - loaded with crab meat, and cooked to perfection, and the sauce was rich and smooth. It was listed as blackened, but we ask that it not be blackened, and we were accomodated, perfectly. It came with maybe the best mashed potatoes I've ever had that weren't cooked by my grandmother. You do not want to count calories or carbs here, you just want to enjoy. The appetizers run $6 to $12, with the entrees coming in at the mid to upper $20s The Beef Tenderloin was also perfectly cooked, tender and rich. This place is best known for its seafood (thus Blue Water), but that beef is pretty darn good. And the desserts were equally exceptional. The Chocolate Torte, or lava cake to some, was really nice, with a near perfect cake, tender and light. And the chocolate wasn't bad either. The Key Lime Pie was equally exceptional, rich and creamy. They have a nice sized bar here, and a bartender that pours a good drink. This place is celebrating its 7th anniversity, and it should have many more.

My husband and I were visiting his cousin and she recommended Blue Water Grille, as she said this was her favorite restaurant, Although we did not have reservations, they were able to seat the three of us in the bar area. The food and service were great. Although it was a little loud, we enjoyed the ambiance. We will definitely return to Blue Water Grille next time we are in the area.

Wonderful dinner with friends. Great ambience on the patio. I ordered the scallops- slightly over cooked, but lots of flavor and a wonderful dish. The crab bisque was delicious and our server was wonderful.

Great wine and beverage selection and fresh, well prepared and plated dishes. Good portioning, not overbearing. Very pricey. Not kid friendly depending on the disposition of the children. During furniture market and on weekends, do call ahead. Small and limited seating.

One of my favorite High Point restaurants! Excellent food and cocktails! Clean and welcoming environment!

From the moment we walked in, I knew this was going to be a great dining experience. The ambiance was nice, there were not too many people (reservations are recommended, ours was at 5:30) and the waitress so was kind and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious, the fish was cooked to perfection and the flavor pairings were out of this world. We will definitely be back to enjoy some of the freshest and most delicious seafood.

A business group of five of us had dinner. Started out with crab dip and edamame appetizers. Great start to a phenomenal meal. Three of us had the special. See pix. One had salmon and one had scallops. The gentlemen that had the scallops said they were over the top and he would have them again soon. Maybe tomorrow!! He is lives local so he can make that happen.

If you blink, you'll miss it. If you are familiar where Time Warner was, now Spectrum, it's next door, but you have to turn in the driveway and go to the back a little bit, you really wouldn't know it was there if someone didn't tell you. We came here one evening and wasn't expecting it to be so good. The waiter suggested the fried oysters. We've never had oysters before so we were open to try them. They were good. Would I get them again, probably not...but that's just me. The texture was still a little too loose for my taste. The bread they brought to the table was REALLY good. It was very dense, but oh so good. We ordered the grouper special which was very good and the filet mignon (medium) dish. That filet mignon was probably THE BEST we've ever eaten. It was truly medium and flavorful. We stayed around for dessert and ordered the fried cheesecake. ORDER IT!

The experience was awesome. We went for Valentines Day and had a great time and the food was amazing. Crab bisque, calamari, halibut I would highly recommend. We will be back.

This was an exceptional dining experience. My wife and I had damage to our home on Valentine's weekend, and were not able to celebrate together. A week later, I made a reservation and briefly mentioned our situation to Blue Water's staff over the phone. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised that they had arranged little red hearts on our table. Margaret Ann was our server and she was wonderful. She explained the menu efficiently and was pleasant and prompt in continually checking on us, without being interruptive. The food was delicious, and plated beautifully. We will most certainly be back and will recommend this establishment to all our friends and family.

There aren't a whole lot of restaurants to pick from in High Point, other than the national meh chains, so this is your destination for a nice meal. The seafood is fresh, the staff friendly, and the crowd upscale. But, the prices are good. A lot of old wood in the restaurant, a big bar to wait for your table or mingle, and reservations are recommended especially during the markets. I would return here on every trip to High Point.

Outstanding! We went here due to a recommendation from a local for our group of 15, and it did not disappoint! Service was excellent, food was raved about, and the drinks were delicious. Even with the big group and a full restaurant, we didn't have any service issues. Oh and have the chocolate torte, it's worth it even if you're stuffed!

We stopped in by an off chance recommendation by my mom who lives in PA and let me tell you!!! The food and service were off the charts! Our server John C. Was on point! His recommendations on dishes were spot on and he was very attentive to our table. We started with the crab dip appetizer and my fiancé had the Tuna Oscar and I had the Shrimp & Grits and they were all phenomenal. I am looking forward to eating here again next time we are passing through!

This is a hidden gem in High Point. No literally you couldn't find this restaurant if you weren't looking for it. I searched for a restaurant on Yelp near home and found Blue Water Grille. I can't believe I have never been to this restaurant before. I think every time i saw it on Yelp I confused it with another defunct restaurant in High Point with Blue in the name (not a good experience) and wrote it off. I am so glad we decided to give it a try. First the gracious hostess asked if we had a reservation. I didn't realize it was graduation for High Point University and that that would mean limited seating. The restaurant is not large but not small either. There is a dining room which is lovely, if not a little small. There are two really nice fish tanks in this area and we were lucky enough to be seated right beside one. The ambiance is great for a date night with lots of dark natural wood and cream walls. The hostess stand separates the dining room from the bar and then past that is a covered patio with heaters. The server informed us that you can have a private event out there as well. We were seated quickly and our order taken after a quick review of the specials. We both had the House Salad to start for $7. It comes with sun-dried cherries, poached pears, blue cheese, candied walnuts, cucumber and a champagne vinaigrette. The presentation is quite nice with the cucumber thinly sliced length-wise and wrapped around the other ingredients. We both enjoyed the fresh greens in the salad and the dressing is the perfect accompaniment, not too sweet. The entrees are divided between small and large plates. If I understand it correctly small plates are meant for sharing. You are encouraged to order several plates and pass them around or share them as appetizers. The server let us know which ones were a good size for an entree when paired with a soup or salad. My husband ordered the chicken milanese milanese for $12. It consists of breaded chicken cutlets with arugula, pickled shallots, capers, tomatoes, lemon vinaigrette and parmesan. The chicken is moist and tender and the bite of the lemon and arugula and pickled shallots cut through the crispy cutlets. You will enjoy the combination and clean your plate. Although it is designated as a "small plate" the portion was ample enough for man's appetite. i always test a new restaurant with shrimp and grits if it's on the menu. Oh boy was this a good choice. The Shrimp and Grits were traditional and served with tomatoes, shallots, and tasso gravy. The grits were creamy and lucious but the server let me know the gravy was made with chicken stock. Maybe that saves a calorie or two but it didn't lessen my enjoyment or impact the taste. We could't leave without having dessert. We ordered the Key Lime Pie. It was obviously homemade and just the right mixture of sweet and tart. The whip cream was a little bland but it didn't take away from the dish at all. The graham cracker crust was thick and sweet. Looking for a date night, this place is sure to impress.
