Sylvestre Wahid: Haute and Healthy with an Exotic Accent

"My cuisine is one based on well-being—without salt, sugar and any added fat,” explains Sylvestre Wahid, chef of the gastronomic restaurant Sylvestre nestled above the brasserie of the Hôtel Thoumieux in Paris’s chic 7th arrondissement." - Stephanie Curtis

Sylvestre Wahid: Haute and Healthy with an Exotic Accent

"Nestled above the brasserie of Hôtel Thoumieux in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, this two‑MICHELIN‑starred haven marries haute cuisine with well‑being, crafting dishes without added salt, sugar, or fat while favoring simplicity and creativity. Signature plates include a roasted beet baked in a truffled brioche; the Roscoff tourteau, a precise layering of crabmeat, thinly sliced avocado, rockfish aspic, and caviar; and two perfect fat green asparagus steamed in a Japanese brasero, presented by the chef, then plated with colorful herbs, slivers of dried tuna, stracchino cheese, and an emulsion of Riviera lemons. Enchanting hand‑crafted plates arrive in an intimate room of trellis‑lined walls, orchids, undulating divans, and deep banquettes—an elegant winter garden conceived by India Mahdavi. The restaurant earned its two MICHELIN stars in 2016, less than a year after Sylvestre Wahid took over the kitchens of Thoumieux following Jean‑François Piège’s departure." - Stephanie Curtis

Hôtel Thoumieux, a Design Boutique Hotel Paris, France

"This bustling luxury hotel is situated on the Right Bank of the Seine, mere moments from Paris’ most celebrated attraction, the sparkling and breath taking Eiffel tower. Start your morning in style by visiting this most famous tower, then stroll over the river Seine to the Left Bank where you can observe the majesty of Le Grand Palais or Place de la Concorde. A popular tourist area there are plenty of things to see and do, as well as fantastic shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. The Hotel Thoumieux is designed with a mix of stunning designer pieces and more cosy comfortable furnishings, the combination of which makes you feel as though you are in a grand country house. Rooms are stunningly designed, think shimmering patterned wallpaper, gorgeous designer curtains, and leopard print throws on the beds. The huge marble topped bathrooms feel truly luxurious and are great to relax in after a day seeing the sights of Paris. The hotel also boasts a comfortable and contemporary Brasserie, a gorgeous library with huge windows, fluttering yellow curtains and shelves jam packed with books for you to peruse. You can also use this library as a stunning setting for a formal dinner. Despite the luxury feel, the atmosphere is laid back and friendly at the Hotel Thoumieux, and staff are on hand to make sure you have a fantastic stay." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Best hotel in Paris! Walk out of the door, look left and voila! The Eiffel Tower. It’s on a nice street with great French shops, restaurants, and pastries. The staff is unbelievable, they make sure all your needs are met. From checking in to checking out, just 1000% service. Next time in Paris? I’ll be back.

We had a wonderful experience at Thoumieux on September 15th. The atmosphere was chic and very Parisian, perfect for a special evening. The service was attentive and welcoming, making us feel comfortable throughout the night. The food was beautifully presented and delicious – each course felt refined and well-balanced. We especially appreciated the details and the care taken to create a memorable dining experience. It was a perfect choice for celebrating a birthday in Paris. Thank you to the whole team for making it so special! We would definitely recommend Thoumieux to anyone looking for a stylish, authentic Parisian dining experience.

The restaurant's taste, atmosphere was great. We truly like very much the terrace gets closed around 23:00 to respect the residences' upstairs. I wish it was like that in my home country. It is 01:00 :) Live music gives the place perfect ambiance. That was what ı was looking for a night out in Paris. Thank you

I recently stayed at the Thoumieux Hotel in Paris, and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The property itself is stylish, warm, and intimate, with that perfect blend of Parisian charm and modern comfort. Every detail feels carefully thought out, from the chic design of the rooms to the cozy yet elegant atmosphere that makes you feel both pampered and at home, not to mention the perfect location in the heart of Paris walkable to so many great restaurants and cafes. I have to give a special mention to Jennifer, who went above and beyond to make my visit unforgettable. Jennifer exemplifies what true hospitality should be: personal, attentive, and delivered with genuine kindness. It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated to creating an exceptional guest experience, and I truly believe she elevates the entire hotel. Jennifer became a friend of mine instantly because she is one of these people that you want to keep present in your life!! Thank you for the whole team! I will refuse to stay in a different hotel from now on except Thoumieux! Also let’s not forget to mention Obu the gorgeous resident cat who makes sure things are going well 🤗🤗

Thoumieux is a great restaurant in the 7th district of Paris. It is a modern French brasserie offering delicious food, a large selection of fine wines and savory cocktails. The ambiance is fantastic. From 9:00pm onwards, there is a pianist-singer. The service is also excellent. Our waiter Nathan was absolutely outstanding providing a world-class service. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for an unforgettable evening in Paris!

Yelp
Hands down, my favorite hotel in Paris. A maximalist's dream, the rooms are decorated boldly with tons of pattern play. The rooms are also very large by Paris standards. I could see the Eiffel Tower from my windows (particularly special at night). Anything you could possibly need (groceries, clothes, restaurants, cafes) can be found steps from the hotel. The cherry atop my stay - I forgot my favorite Saint Laurent clutch in my room and didn't notice for a few days after returning home. The hotel immediately found my bag and mailed it to me in America. Talk about exceptional customer service!!! I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Do NOT spend your money and wast your time on this beautiful hotel in a great area. It's all a SCAM!!!! You pay extra for breakfast Included. The breakfast is horrible with no options. Some of the staff was very nice and the hotel is small but beautiful. Please be sure to fill the strategic holes in strange areas of the restroom. It pains me as I didn't notice them initially. I was already in the establishment when I looked at the reviews and saw they had a recent infestation. I was mortified. The last but definitely not least detail is that I wholeheartedly believe as an international traveler I was targeted. I paid for my trip in full before I came to Paris. I closed out my til, zero balance. Receipts will be posted for proof. On thé Line for customs i realized this hotel debited 1112.13 from my account. I had to use a credit card for my food, taxis, Covid testing at the airport etc. I contacted the property they blamed it on a new employee and promised a refund . It has been 3 weeks. I've gotten every excuse from a sick accountant, to Easter Sunday. In my pictures you will see I paid in full. I checked out zero balance and Their fraudulent refund receipts. Also I had to purchase outside food everyday as the restaurant options were horrible. Overpriced. The hotel is very beautiful. Some of the staff were very kind. It's a great location close to the Eiffel tower But overall horrible food. They are thieves who didn't disclose they had a recent INFESTATION. They stole my money and continue to lie about the refund. Hopefully my bank will refund me after investigation. See the pics for proof. Hotel THOUMIEUX IS A SCAM and THIEVES!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Luxurious hotel in the 7th Arr. of Paris. Location: located w/in blocks from the Eiffel Tower and parks, steps from quality shopping and cafes & bars, narrow streets, view of tower from hotel front, great location overall!! Price: it's a luxury hotel so go ahead and spoil yourself...based on the location alone, it's worth it! Amenities: I haven't eaten at the brasserie but all of the other amenities are top notch... Aesop toiletries, quality towel, heated towel rack, marble throughout bathroom, nice mini bar, and nice touch w/ free cake for guests available daily! Service: first I want to thank room service who cleaned our room w/ the utmost care and respect for belongings...thank you!! All other staff: we asked and received w/in minutes...ice was delivered in a silver bucket on a white cloth(thanks Jennifer!), quality steam iron provided, it looked like rain they insisted we borrowed one of their new umbrellas (thanks... forgot the brothas name, but he greeted us genuinely every morning) , we needed a cab to the airport and they provided their own fair-priced car service (thanks Orange County/ Miami Friend) and upon arrival they carry your baggage to your room w/ genuine conversation along the way (thanks Gabriel!) Real Talk: if you visit Paris, there's no reason to search too much beyond this experience...can I get a voucher to return:)

Yelp
Gorgeous boutique hotel in a fantastic location with extremely helpful staff. We stayed in Room #2, which was absolutely gorgeous. We did not get to have the breakfast (there are many cute little bakeries nearby), but did go to Sylvestre our last night, and it was one of the best dinners of my life.

Yelp
Great location but horrible service! We stayed 2 nights and hardly saw anyone at the desk when we needed something. We were out all day and no one ever came to our room to tidy up or replace towels. I called down but no one was at the desk. Someone from the restaurant said they would send someone but no one came. On the other hand, the bed was comfortable and the room was nice although very dizzy with all the patterns. I would find a different hotel the next time.

Yelp
Unfortunately could not possibly recommend. The hotel had bed bugs! In my many, many years of travel all over the world I had not experienced this menace and I hope to never again. I woke up my first night, in room 6, getting bitten and called front desk. The overnight clerk acted oblivious and told me to call back in the morning, which I did. They agreed to change my room and since I couldn't find any mosquitoes I asked about bed bugs. She assured me they never had. We were moved to another room but the bites got worse. We were only there for three nights and by the time we were on our flight home I felt like I had been eaten alive. I saw a GP and a dermatologist at home and both confirmed the numerous bites all over my body were bed bugs and that they probably all didn't happen in one night. The hotel gave me a refund of one night which I find unacceptable (I asked for full) and they would never give me an assurance that they have fully taken care of their infestation. I even wrote to the hotel's owner, Thierry Costes, who never replied. Nor did their press office, communications office or general manager. Hardly what you would expect. Unless you want to end up miserable like me, I'd steer clear of this hotel. They own others which I can't speak to but might worry about as well (I wouldn't stay at them) but you can look them up:Beaumarly.com.
