King Tacos

Hey there, this is GeniePam 🧞‍♀️ visiting from Dubai 🇦🇪 originally from 🇲🇽 with my partner in crime from 🇩🇪 As a Mexican, I can't really consider this a taco, but it's pretty funny! In Okinawa, these kind of food called "tacos" are actually a local delicacy. If I eat it without expecting a traditional taco, it's a tasty and quick fast food option; worth trying for a fun experience! The taco chicken fried rice was absolutely phenomenal! Huge portions too. (Although, I think the cheese would have been better melted)

I remember going there as a kid and decided to go there for brunch while I’m visiting. I’ve tried different chain, but oh man! Kim-town ones are the better! It was so good, I swollen them😂 I’ll surely miss this location when I leave!

I had heard that King Tacos served the best Taco Rice, and I'm glad I made the trip—it was absolutely worth it. The dish was packed with flavor and exceeded my expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the upstairs dining area offered a surprisingly nice view. I’ll definitely be returning. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend checking this place out.

This seems like it may be a favourite of the takeaway diners and the workers, it's a ticket venue in a somewhat military area. The food is what you could expect to make at home, for the Australians out there it an "Old El Paso" experience. It is tough to comment on service as you exchange a ticket for food and so the rest yourself. The cutlery on offer was a real takeaway experience.

Came to try the famous taco rice that was invented here and is technically an institution. Personally I was not impressed with this concoction of food. You place your order with a machine and give the ticket to a cashier. I had both tacos and taco rice and had I known they would be pretty much the same I would have only ordered the taco rice. The meat was greasy and heavier compared to other taco rice I had in other restaurants.

The original taco rice! We came around 7pm and waited about half an hour for our order, so we were very hungry by the time the food was ready. Thankfully the portions were large to fill our starving bellies! Despite the long wait, you could tell the staff were doing their best with the many orders that were coming in. After a full day of travelling, the food definitely hit the spot, and fulfilled our fast food cravings.

The place was crowded during lunch time. They have seating spaces outside and on the 2nd floor level. The food was ok and the service was fast as well . Parking is available,but little far awal from the restaurant.

Heard bout this place forever. Finally made it to Kin so we stopped by after work. Friends would say, get the taco rice, well no. I had to try the tacos. They were pretty good! 4 of them to the order. Tasty and with the right amount of ingredients. I know I could of had more but I will come back later. Parking is a chore but we were lucky enough to find one right across the street. Good stuff

It has been a while since going to Okinawa, Japan so this review is from memory. I remember the first time that I had ever tried taco rice. It was when I was in Okinawa to conduct a few inspections for the military. This place was located right outside Camp Hansen it was a short walk from the gate. I ordered the chicken fried rice taco rice. It was delicious. It was chicken fried rice topped with taco meat and cheese. I opted not to get tomato or lettuce on it. This makes for a great quick meal and is very affordable. You can pay with Japanese yen or USD but they do not accept card (at least not when I was there). If you are ever in Japan, especially in Okinawa go get some taco rice!

I just want to leave a review on King Tacos and how much I love the goddamn taco rice. Was stationed in Hansen back 2013-2015 and king tacos always hits the right spot.

The Beef tacos were tasty, I would come back again for them. They have a unique wide square shell which allows for a lot of meat. Fresh lettuce and a unique sauce paired well and only 300 yen! Jumbo burger was okay, they put their taco sauce on it and it didn't pair right. Burger seemed to be pan seared and was oily. Bun could of used some oven time. Overall service was fast, friendly, they accept cash only, Interior is bland and could use some work. I overall enjoyed my meal and would come again for a quick fix!

Yummy taco rice I had for lunch today!! It was a take out box with chili sauce. The meat is seasoned, so it tastes a bit salty without the sauce. But I like spicy food, so it tasted very good after mixing up with the sauce. All the ingredients (meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and rice) combine well. It got a great harmony!! It is much better than the instant packaged taco rice.

While I was doing research about Okinawa prior to coming here, I was surprised that a dish called "Taco Rice" was considered Okinawan cuisine. Apparent also one of the places to lay claim is in Kin at King Taco. Apparently this is a must on the Okinawan bucket list so I gave it a shot. King Taco is a small shop with an upstairs and small outdoor eating area. I noticed it's also one of the few places open on a Sunday afternoon at 4pm. The line was out the door which was a bit deceiving since the interior first floor is so small, but it was about 70/30 Okinawans to Americans. It's a simple menu with a few options that you can get multiple different ways (ex. Taco rice, taco rice w/ cheese etc). I chose the taco rice w/ cheese and lettuce and got a number. It was ready in about five minutes. I grabbed a seat outside and dug in. It tastes pretty much how you would expect. White rice, taco meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and I threw some salsa on. It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but not the pinnacle of dining either. It did come in a huge portion though for only 600 yen. If you're in Kin and have no other options (just about every place is a Taco Rice place) then it's fine.

Amazing stuff for the price point. Mixing the cheese in then leaving the lid on for a minute or two so the cheese melts helps. Open late, cheap, and fast.

Good food - it's a chain but camp Hansen is the original. Good to get the near base vibe...probably a one and done experience, but worth the trip north.
