Yakoya Abula Joint is Da Bomb! Nice environment, tastey dishes, corporate and spacious environment, cool ambience. They offer Amala on the spot with Gbegiri, ewedu, or vegetables. But the real delight is the protein on offer to go with it, from meat or fish, you can't get it wrong. They also offer other dishes apart from Amala that is worth your taste. All at budget friendly cost. Parking space is fairly an issue, but they have their private securities out on the road directing and managing parking space and traffic flow. It's not easily accessible for wheelchair though but good Environment for children, family and friends to eat out. For the cool Amala on the spot experience, it's the place to go.

Just like the Abuja one, Yakoyo Amala, located on Ogunlana Drive in Surulere, is one of Lagos’ most popular spots for authentic Yoruba cuisine, especially amala and abula. The restaurant has built a strong reputation for consistently delicious local meals — soft amala, rich ewedu, flavourful gbegiri, and a wide selection of assorted meats that satisfy both locals and visitors. Many customers praise its generous portions, quick service, and the nostalgic “buka” taste that captures the essence of traditional Nigerian cooking. The environment is clean and well-organised compared to typical local joints, with a unique token-based payment system that helps manage the large number of customers they serve daily. However, because of its popularity, Yakoyo often gets crowded during lunch hours, leading to long queues and a noisy atmosphere. Parking can also be tight. The staff maintain good coordination and ensure customers are attended to promptly. Yakoyo Amala in Surulere remains a go-to destination for lovers of local delicacies.

I’ve always looked forward to eating at Yakoyo, and they’ve never disappointed. Their food is consistently flavorful and satisfying. One scoop of Amala is ₦300, assorted beef is ₦300, Ponmo Ijebu is ₦1000, and bottled water is ₦400. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the Gbegiri—it wasn’t bad, just not my favorite. That said, the overall quality and taste of their food remain excellent.

if you are looking for locally made food with a touch of model space and environment... I bet this is the place where you will see it all. the Ac is 100 over 100 the food is so tasty 😋 yet affordable lighting is 100 with 6k to 10k, you will be full beautiful place to snap or do small content after you have eaten... next is to chill with your phone to take some beautiful photos... their waiters are neat and well organised... i enjoyed my 3hours stay here before we head out ...

I had heard so much about this place so had to try it. Yakoyo has moved to a new building right across from the old location. Looks much more bigger, with a VIP section upstairs. I had the Amala, with gbegiri and ewedu with Ijebu pomo and goat meat. The food was very bland, nothing special. The Pomo was very soft Amala was average but enough portion of the sauces to finish my 4 servings of Amala. Parking was a bit difficult as we had to park on a side street. Servers were adequate and as with most Nigerian Buka’s too many people behind the counter. We were welcomed by 3 waiters sitting down doing nothing, asking if we wanted to pay 1000 for VIP service ( you tell them what you want and they bring your food to you) we declined. Wanted to see what we were being served and pick our own pice of meat. Part of the experience. Probably won’t go back except for convenience.

Their food here is quite cheap and affordable. Though there was a crowd, I still love the clean and spacious atmosphere.

I ate Amala, Abula with Ogunfe. As a Yoruba man from Ibadan, I'd rate it 9/10. Be assured of more than enough soup and a tatsy food. The atmosphere of the new place is cool, spacious and not Choky. The AC makes you enjoy your meal better.
