Most everyone likes the tacos except for me. I'm my opinion the lacked flavor. 9, cilantro, sour cream and guacamole would have been a great addition. The street corn was delicious, I would definitely double down on this side next time. We had the cactus 🌵. It was flavored well. Apparent no matter how much you spend there's a fee to use your CC. Oh and the Roman was flavored well but it does have cheese in the bottom which made the texture odd. I know I don't seem enthusiastic about the place but you should go we may love it.

Had been wanting to try this place even before the name change. Was pleasantly surprised when I walked in how nicely decorated the interior was. It had a Mexican theme yet relaxing and clean. I was greeted and seated right away. Ordered the flautas with a side of rice and tea. Complimentary chips and salsa were delivered to my table. The chips were good and the salsa you could taste was homemade and very tasty. My order arrived in short time and the portions were huge. It was topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, white cheese, and sour cream. One taste and I knew this place knows how to make great food. The rice was delicious also. My waitress was helpful, friendly, and attentive. Other staff members also came to check on me. I also noticed the background Spanish music was spot on and fit the whole theme of the restaurant. To end my meal I tried the Tres leches cake and man was this good. This was an easy review as the food, environment, price, and staff were all excellent. Easy 5 stars and highly recommended.

This is my second time there. I walked in tonight around 7:45 ish (Sept 30,2025) and place 3 to go order, a total of 12 tacos, an order of queso and a cup of elote. I should have check the to go bag but I did not. My mistake is to trust the server. I got home and there is no chips for the queso and my 12 tacos order became a 9 tacos order. My total bill was $39 and some change. The food taste great however the to go service was horrible no quality control to ensure the order is correct. The server doesn't double check order properly. I paid for 12 tacos and I received 9 tacos. I have never order queso that doesn't come with chips. I'm not sure I'll return to the restaurant.

My family and I went today and we all really enjoyed the meal. Everything tasted so FRESH. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the seasoning and ingredients. I got the veggie fajitas and they are probably the best I've ever had. Too often vegetarian meals have no flavor and are simply an afterthought. We loved all of the side dishes – I had the nopales (cactus), which is a rare treat to find at any restaurant. My brother had the flautas and it came with five generous roll tacos with two sides. That could have easily been split between two people. My sister-in-law loved her chicken fajitas. Again, very large portion sizes. The guacamole was a revelation, and we ordered the large size and only made it halfway through. Upon leaving, we noticed that they had lunch special so I will post a picture of that menu as well. Everything was incredibly clean and fresh. We will definitely be back.

Delicious, authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex) food. A large menu, with staples such as chile rellenos, elote, nopales, molcajetes, tacos, gorditas, and enchiladas, and specialties such as birria pizza and birria ramen (birria is their specialty). We had the quesabirria and enchiladas, both were delicious, and very fair price ($30 for 2 entrees, including tax and tip). Dessert menu also looked good, but we were full. Service was a little slow, and the dishes could use some more salt, but I think they were just having an off night. Easily the best Mexican (not Tex Mex) food in Norman. We will be back!

This place is amazing!!! Crystal was our server, she was sweet and very attentive. Our drinks stayed full, our order was exact, and she was very friendly. The restaurant is decorated in floral hangings from the rafters, beautiful murals, and OU paraphernalia and they played great music. Our food was absolutely delicious, you could tell it was authentic and very skillfully cooked!! We had the Molcajete (highly recommend) and flan for dessert (one of the best we've ever had)! We will definitely be back!

Google
I loved my server, she was quick and so kind! I believe her name was jasmine. However the food was not good. I was really disappointed, i ordered steak tacos and they came out like they had been put into a blender and then cooked. Not my fav but definitely loved the environment and customer service!

Stacy M.

Google
Definitely not Tex Mex but more like taco truck style, if that’s your thing. No complimentary queso. Red and green salsas in the bottles. No sour cream sauce. Rice is different. Beans… meh.

Yelp
El Toro is a restaurant you definitely need to try in Norman! The inside is so cutie and great for pictures. Our server was super sweet and recommended the watermelon Agua Fresca and it was very very good. It was super fresh and light perfect for a summer day. The chips and salsa were super delicious as well. I ordered the tacos while my boyfriend ordered the burrito version. Food took a while to come out, but when it did, it was honestly so worth it. You can tell that the food was fresh and time was spent on making the meals. When we got the bill we were shocked because of how affordable everything was. As a whole we had a great experience and will be back!

Yelp
Hate to be negative, the service was not great. The food was not authentic chicken reminded me of it being microwaved from a bag! Chips were stale and salsa was very watery and taste like spaghetti sauce. Expected more and was very let down.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
This place is for high school students in a crunch for time. The food is ok, the atmosphere is "meh". I'll definitely pass on a second trip, lots of better Mexican food near this spot.

Yelp
If you love birria - this is the place for you. I tried El Toro tonight and found it to be very interesting. The menu is dominated by different dishes featuring Birria. What you won't find are the same old basic tacos, enchiladas, rice, and beans that all the other Okie-Mex joints in town have. Since they just opened - no margaritas are available yet. Will update once they have them. The chips were some of the best I have found in Norman - they were fairly light and thin and appeared to be made in house. Not the thick yellow ones everyone else seems to serve. The salsa served with the chips was relatively thin and only had a slight kick to it. However - ask for the jalapeno based green salsa - it delivers the heat, just the way I like it. I ordered the elotes for a starter. I prefer when they swap the mayonnaise for sour cream, but everything else about the elotes was very good. Very similar to what you would find if you went to a street vendor in Dallas. For the main I ordered the Torta Birria which is basically a Birria sandwich. The buns were very soft and flavorful. The birria meat was also very good. They served it with a small bowl of what looked like mexican au jus, which was very good for dipping into. I didn't try any of the aqua fresca's that they had but they looked very good. I will get one next time. I recommend El Toro for those that love Birria or anyone who is looking to try something different than the same old Okie Mex.

Yelp
The perfect place for white Mexican food honestly. I ordered two margs and they both came with so much ice, my food wasn't insanely hot, and their rice wasn't hay I expected honestly, I dunno the rice in my burrito was what I expected as my side the side rice was flavorful but nothing you can't warm up in a bag plus mine wasn't hot so I just ordered elote and THAT came out looking how I expected and that was GREAT! Maybe I'm just spoiled from my years of my family's cooking it Chicago's Hispanic food but I had higher hopes for this place unfortunately. It's a super cute place though ambiance is quite adorable and the service was attentive.

Yelp
Went tonight for the first time...it was not great. Carne asada was tough and chewy, the salsa tastes like flavored tomato soup, rice was too close to Chinese takeout, and the refried beans were comparable to baby food texture

Yelp
We love the new brick-and-mortar El Toro Mexican Grill across from Norman High School! 405 Yummy Spot started as a food truck, located in the parking lot of the former Sooner Dairy drive-in and still have the food truck, relocated by Stash across Porter on Main Street. I ordered street tacos and they are the best I've ever had. My husband ordered the Friday nigh special, the beef enchiladas and he said they were delicious! Our waitress Joanne was so attentive, had a great conversation and explained the history and cool stuff that is upcoming for the restaurant. They also offer student and staff discounts so stop by for lunch or dinner! You'll be glad you did! Highly Recommend!

Yelp
Food was amazing! Best Mexican I have had in awhile long time. Very clean inside and love the ambience. Our server was so nice. This is your next favorite place!

Alexxia A.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! You have to try the quesabirria tacos and the elote is a must :)

Kristen G.

Yelp
Wanted to love it, was highly disappointed If you can bring out a Molcajete with your bare hands it's not right! Food was cold had to ask for everything 3 times. You have to beg for silverware!

Kaye S.

Yelp
original homemade latino food. I love it. Its either Tarahamaras or El Toro. I purchased to go order, it was perfect. If you want original mexican this is it. If you are a tex mex fan, prob not your place. (queso is to a mexican thing, don't order it here)

TJ L.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Just what Norman needs is more authentic dishes served with love! The service was fantastic, food was delicious, and we will be back!

Yelp
I came in on my birthday on a trip through town. I was very hungry and couldn't decide between 3 items. Bri was my waitress and she was amazing because I'm a handful! I told her my debate and my dislikes, she went to the kitchen and they cooked up this delicious surprise for me. It's even enough for 2 meals. This meal was made with so much love and that sandia agua fresca definitely hit the spot after a hot day working in the sun. In a world where those that are in the service industry, lack customer service, Bri is a delight and beautiful blessing to be served by. Elizabeth and her family have worked so hard on el toro ever since they were just 405 yummy spot truck in the corner of a parking lot. This family works so hard to build this legacy, even teaching their niñas and niños the same. Stop in and tell them this review sent you

Michele M.

Yelp
Overpriced. Fajitas serving was very small. It came with 2 sides. That's it. No cheese, Pico, sour cream... The elote was all lime and crema. Service was awful. We couldn't get a refill on drinks or silverware. We won't go back.

Yelp
The food is usually a solid 2/5 but one day i went and they took forever w my food. my friends food came out before mine and then when i told them i had to go and just cancel my order it was all of a sudden ready , mind you my friend was all done w her food. I had to beg on my hands and knees for my waitress to get me a sprite , get me silverware , get me napkins and everything. she was so negligence , she was pregnant idek what her name was cause she didn't introduce herself. the ambiance is so good like its so cutesy but thats go make up for such horrible service.

Yelp
we have been there 3 times twice before they got their liquor license went there again yesterday for the Friday enchilada dinner special which is now gone. They changed their menu up to reflect the paying for their liquor license? The food is good but the new pricing is typical of EVERY other sit down mexican restaurant in town. 13 dollars for a margarita 5 dollars for a beer. The 3 times we have been there they have a service charge? yesterday it was 1.04 added to the bill for Toast? Anyways they are currently offering lunch specials through the week which we will go back for but not for anything else as it's not as good for the money as 1942 which is the same price range

Yelp
Came here about 2 weeks ago and without it even being busy, it took over 30 minutes for our drink order to be taken, an hour for soda to come out, and over 2 hours for our food to come out. All i ordered was an appetizer elotes and it didn't come out until after everything else was already given to the table. Staff attempted to say they were busy, however there was about 2-3 other tables in the entire place and they received service with no issue and received their food in a timely manner. I do hope if and when i return to try this place again, they are able to provide better service.

Yelp
Birria was amazing and staff very friendly! I loved the vibe of the restaurant and the menu had many options!

Roy H.

Yelp
The food was really good and the restaurant was decorated very well I have been going to this place since it was 405 yummy spot and they always do a great job

Mary H.

Yelp
The food is amazing! Fresh, beautifully presented, unique and delicious! The salsas are also different from so many Mexican restaurants. We have eaten there several times and each time was wonderful. The all day every day breakfasts are fantastic too! This is our new FAVORITE Norman go to Mexican restaurant!

Kaimee K.

Yelp
The food was excellent at El Toro Mexican Grill! The service was great! The vibe was on point. I've been wanting to try this for a few months and made it in today. We started with the pineapple Fresca to drink and then couldn't get enough of their homemade salsa. I had never had pupusas but my boyfriend insisted and says they are some of the best he has ever had. Their flauta shots were next. The amount could have been an appetizer and the delicious sauce in the glass was devoured with the remaining chips. Next we had the Molcajete. The grilled cactus, cheese, chicken, steak, and shrimp was more than we could eat but definitely came home to eat later. We will be coming back again and I will be keeping an eye on their daily specials.

Yelp
This restaurant sucks. The servants do not listen and then, try to tell you what you said. The food takes forever to get to the table. The waitress have attitudes and think they know it all. We had to ask for silverware. They will interrupt you when you are trying tell them what they messed up.also, the atmosphere sucks. We were so upset that we left without eating anything because, they would have probably spit in our food with all of the attitudes that they have
