Ended up here last night with a group of friends, and we were initially enjoying ourselves until the bouncer came in and started micromanaging how many people were at tables and where people could stand (in an entirely full bar). When he wasn't doing that, he was openly hitting on patrons or shoving tables around. Never seen a bouncer like that in my life, but our group of about ten felt like he was being weirdly aggressive so we took our money elsewhere for the next few hours. Coulda been a great spot.

The staff and attitude at this place is so disgusting. I’ve been a couple of times and disappointed by the rudeness but tonight was next level. I ordered a glass of wine was enjoying it alone at the bar when the female bartender asked me 10 mins later for $7. I said sure I only have Apple Pay and intended to have another. Without looking at me she said were cash only (no where do they make that clear) and before we could work it out she snatched my drink and poured it out in front of me. Don’t support this business they are vile,

No frills is an accurate description of this understated bar. Simple beer menu for the most part and a couple of tables for groups to sit at. Prices are approximately $7 for a pint. Cash only makes things tricky but they have an atm.

Weird rude service from the security. I walked in, was asked for my ID, why was was there when I tried to show him my ID, I said Im seeing if there is space. He rudely said u can look from here. He was acting like I was a drunk college kid who was being an ass to him when I was being polite and confused by this interaction.

I’ve always loved this bar and been multiple times. I went in to use this restroom (after having one drink there) and a drunk man at bar kept asking how I was “honey” I ignored him to use restroom. On my way out, he blocked my path out, and his party and the bartender cussed me out as I left calling me rude. This man looked drunk and harassed me. Never had my space that violated. He literally blocked me from leaving and refused to move until I acknowledged him and the female bartender supported it. Will not be back here after allowing (sober) customers to be treated that way.

The location is a former radio station turned into a bar. This bar was right up my alley, I needed therapy only a bottle of Pinot Grigio could give! The prices of drinks are the best, I have seen in downtown NYC. Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or something a little more playful, the bartenders here kept the drinks flowing. They're skilled, friendly, and genuinely love what they do! The music is a standout! Great jukebox, rock playlists, with the perfect background volume when you're drunk that lets you enjoy the ambiance without drowning out conversation. It all comes together to create a nostalgic, artsy vibe that's hard to find anywhere else. The staff is welcoming and attentive without ever being pushy. They make you feel taken care of in a way that's relaxed and authentic, exactly what a neighborhood bar should be. If you're in the West Village and want a spot with personality, great drinks, even better atmosphere, WXOU Radio Bar is the place. Might I add the bathroom is very clean! Highly recommend!

Came here about 4 or 5 months ago, maybe in September when the weather was still nice out! I work in Meatpacking so I'm on the area often. I saw online that celebrities come here so little old me walked in hoping to maybe spot Rihanna or someone cool. Anyway, this is a dive bar and I sat next to a guy who wasn't technically annoying me but he was an older guy and the pretty girl bartender who was working spotted me and clocked that the guy was making me feel a little weird. She was SO SWEET and said she had a drink waiting for me at another seat (I hate confrontation lol) so I could organically get up and not sit buy the guy who kept hitting on me. Want to laugh? Because not even 5 minutes later I hear a gaggle of people scream at the bartender and call her a bad name (I can't say the B word on here) and walk out. Like what? The bartender was just so sweet to me and then like 10 or 12 people in a group were SCREAMING that they wanted shots and being so freaking rude. Like I love this place because the drinks are cheappppp but also because the bartender didn't fail to miss that a man was lowkey making me uncomfortable. So idk but I'll be back to any bar that looks out for other women. We need more of that these days. Also I cannot fathom how rude that group was. Like dropping bad words - who does that?! It's a busy bar guys- everyone needs to wait their turn.

I would not recommend going here because of the bouncer. Went here with my brothers and couldn't even really give much insight on the inside. That's because the bouncer was immediately a problem. I saw them yell at multiple people and even physically threaten some people who were just quietly enjoying the bar. This was my second time there; my first and last time.

It's bars like this that truly make me despise certain aspects of bar culture in this city. Man's literally sat there and did not make our drink despite taking our order. Watched him just stand there. Then someone else came and he took there order and poured them a shot. I was like hey what's the deal was met with short attitude and was told to get cash from an ATM he knew wasn't working. Just sat there until he was finally like bars closed and turned on the light. Like why did the doorman let us in if they weren't trying to serve us anything. I hate passive aggression. Straight up with your whole chest tell a girl you're not serving anymore. Not sit there and watch us and not make anything. Truly a vile experience. Will never be back.

This place is horrible. The door guys are very nice, but as the other reviewers said, the bartender is a huge asshole. He was rude to my male friends and then was rude to me for being associated with them. He was extremely rude and refused to serve us drinks and said "this isn't applebees?!?" Yeah, it's worse lol.... I couldn't believe how pretentious he was to people he didn't even know. He eventually gave my friend the shots and it was the most disgusting tequila. My friend compared it to hand sanitizer and none of us drank it other than him, in which he had to get water to get the taste out of his mouth. Disgusting place, horrible ambience, and extremely rude bartender. Will never be back nor recommend. Go to "employees only" instead, but there's a dress code, which is why we landed at this shit hole.

Great little dive bar with the rudest female bartender! Ten of us walked in yesterday (9/3/2024) to order ten shots of tequila and she purposely left us waiting and served people who came in after us. We waited so long that we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. She had zero problem losing however much $$ the place would have made on a Tuesday afternoon! (We came in respectfully and gave her no reason to be so rude) Unfortunately none of us will be going back!

Fantastic down to earth round the way mix of neighborhood bar but with a great mix of new people at all times. Two TVs in the perfect locations to watch the game while enjoying your drinks. Bartenders give a solid pour and booths are located across from the bar to sit and chat if you come in a small group. It's a great stop not to be missed but make sure to bring cash because WXOU doesn't accept credit cards and if you're into Redbull drinks you better bring that as well because you won't find any there.

CASH ONLY bar that gave COUNTERFEIT bills as change!!! If you're going to do cash only please check if the big bills you take in are real or fake. It's not too hard to swipe it with a pen! We basically spent 100 bucks on 4 shots because of this. Who knows, maybe the bartender is laundering money. Secondly, the bar patrons were predominantly white. I think it's the norm too because of all the stares when my black and asian girlfriends walk in. We ordered shots for 8 bucks each which weren't filled all the way either.

Absolutely awful place. As you will see from the reviews the bartenders here have cultivated their own unique style of service that is openly hostile. I'm sure they revel in the notoriety of these reviews so was in two minds wether to post but on the off chance they actually read these reviews let me tell you that no amount of 'edge' in your service will compensate you for your tiny manhood. Grow up, stop being surly, and you know actually look to improve yourselves... cause James deans you ain't.

This guy is a hole .. left an item the previous night came back the next day to pick it up after they had confirmed earlier that they had my item . Came back to pick up the bartender stated " this isn't a good time " gives me a paper and pen to write my Information down to come back AGAIN the other bartender was also ignoring me and just told me to wait . Long story short they are only give customer service when they are taking your tips definitely never coming to this trash bar with trash wait staff

no frills, cash only, inexpensive, and friendly locals hang out here. came here after katana kitten and they are polar opposites. the drinks here are inexpensive ($19 for 4 drinks isn't bad at all), but the bartender wasn't very welcoming. i asked about their cider offerings and she gave pretty curt responses. on the other hand, the locals here are friendly and even pointed me to another available bathroom when i was looking for one. overall, not too much to write about, but also not in a hurry to return either.

People who KNOWS me, knows to never recommend or suggest or take me to a place like this. Honestly? I didn't want to be like "that girl" - so I decided to go along with this venue, even though I know I would totally hate this place and this is NOT my cup of tea. It is a dive and no specialty cocktails and it is loud and obnoxious. This is D local spot and I just got tequila with ginger ale - disgusting. Seriously, how can you mess this drink up. I only was able to drink one sip. I am sorry, but my plan is not to pass out on the table.

Cute place, decent draft selection. Nice jukebox. Seem to be a lot of regulars. Was there on a Saturday afternoon and someone had their baby in a giant baby carrier there, so I guess this is kid friendly. If you sit in one of the booths, the benches are really, really hard and the backs a little too upright. I did like the sign that said "No Red Bull" because I think that might effectively screen 75% of d-bags. It is a nice, relaxed place where you can sit and talk and have a drink or two. Cash only.

Wow was the bartender a complete d*** on Friday night. I have been coming here for over 10 years and love it for the juke box, the drinks and the vibe. And it's my local. Haven't been since covid so here goes. Firstly I found someone's passport dropped on the floor and i went To the bar to hand it to him. Snatched it out of my hand as if I had done something wrong. Um - ok thanks wouldn't have killed you. Anyway no big deal. Maybe having a bad night. Then my husband who always overtips only had $20 cash left on his third Round and the bill was $21 - bartender was like 'nope that's not how we do it here' so wouldn't serve him for the $1! We had no cash left because we had overtipped. A few minutes later the other bartender walks past us and elbows my husband in the back. WTF WXOU. I then went to get a drink - guy looks at me and says (pointing to my husband) 'I told him to f*** off'. Now I have lived in New York and the village for years. I have never had anyone ever speak to me like that or to my husband like that. Everyone in the bar was saying the same thing - it's clear there IS an issue when you read these reviews. WXOU do better. And hire better. It won't be our choice next time for a late night drink!

Looking for an every-occasion type of dive bar for a quick drink or a large group? WXOU should be on your radar. A great dive, but not too divey, and enough room to accommodate both groups and single bar goers as well. It's also right across the street from Employees Only, so if you get denied entry because it's packed, it's a great fallback plan. You won't find the elevated cocktails of EO, but you'll certainly have access to a full bar with simple drinks at a good price. They're cash only (which is annoying in this day in age), so make sure you have some greenbacks handy when ordering a round.

You know a place is awesome when you go there to see a long lost yelper who moved away, and run into two other Elite yelpers who also just happened to be there. That, my friends, is what we like to call Yelpendipity (yeah, I just coined that - learn it). This is obviously a Cheers-ey kind of place - not in decor at all, but definitely has the "everybody knows your name" kind of feel. Cheap drinks, good beers on tap (though no Blue Moon - sad). Seems like the ideal place in the neighborhood for a chill happy hour or a no-effort kind of place. Glad to know these places are still around on Hudson.

Arrived on a Friday around 10pm (which I suppose is not the best time to go). It was pretty packed, but started to filter out. Crowd was mixed... just people enjoying socializing with friends... no vulture-ish men, no gaggles of desperate-looking women who eye everything in pants. I didn't interact with the bartender personally, but he seemed lovely and certainly was nice to look at. :) The beer and Johnny Walker were... beer and Johnny Walker. The best part was when we snagged a little booth and the girls who'd been there before us had left a box full of Buttercup cupcakes. And since Magnolia's is nearby, I already had cupcakes on the mind. How serendipitous! Back to Radio Bar -- I'd definitely return if in the neighborhood, though it wouldn't be a desintation spot. Penultimate line: It's a bar. No bullshit. Nice. Bottom line: Guinness + chocolate-frosted vanilla cupcake = heavenly.

A great LOW KEY option for the WV (which can sometimes be a tricky endeavor on a Friday or Saturday)!! You WILL NOT find yuppies or girls in stilettos or frat boys with popped collars or tiny little designer clutches that hardly hold a cell phone. You WILL find cool bartenders and chill people and cheap drinks and great beats. Great for a crew on nights when you just want to have some old fashioned laid back fun and not be bothered with ridiculous bar tabs and annoying people by the end of the night.

This is basically my perfect bar. The drinks are cheap. It's never too packed, but never desolately empty. The clientele appears to be a mix of young folks and older neighborhood regulars. There's a jukebox, and it is a regular, nondigital jukebox, which is what earns it the 5th star. The first time I went there the power had gone out, so the resourceful staff lit a bunch of candles and offered happy hour prices all evening to make up for the inconvenience. Pretty sweet. I must've passed this bar a thousand times before I finally stumbled in recently for a quick drink. The Radio Bar, named after a clock in the back, is a pretty cool neighborhood pub. It reminds me of the Two Bells Tavern, a venerable Seattle watering hole that's not a dive, but not a fancy place, either -- both places are simply good honest bars for hard-drinking, hard-working folk. You are not likely to find any fashionistas here. The jukebox is pretty cool, too, with great selections like Wilco, Radiohead, Pearl Jam and the Stones' Exile on Main Street. This joint's under the radar.

Clean dive bar with decent music, that isn't too loud. It is possible to have a conversation. There are little booths where you can sit too. The price of the drinks won't break the bank either.
