I was at the theater for a Candlelight event, and honestly, I not only loved the show, but the venue itself is incredible. It's an old theater with several halls and quite affordable prices. Just going inside to see the place is worth it.

It’s the best theatre in the Netherlands, perhaps the world, though it’s easy to accidentally book a film not in the main hall and then it’s a pretty bland though acceptable Pathé experience made better by walking through the incredible lobby

I love this cinema, it brings back childhood memories for sure but it has this beauty that you can't deny. Nostalgic and timeless beauty. Different theaters and all elegant. Comfortable sofas or chairs with the lights in one. A theater feel of the past in the other one. Friendly staff.

Absolutely beautiful space that is open to the public to explore from 9:30-11 before any daily showings start. We booked an audio guide in advance but it didn’t appear like you needed one to look around, though it helped you find a few spots you may not stumble upon otherwise and gave a good history. For most of our time there we had the space to ourselves. It seemed to still be a bit of a hidden gem (at least during the off season) and is absolutely worth seeing.

This is our favorite movie theater. You have the choice between the cozy movie theater with couches or the grand theater with its rich history and art deco styling. Popcorn situation could improve - they transfer it from these giant plastic bags of popped popcorn into the machine and it never tastes that fresh. Overall we love it there though 🎉

This is one of the most ornamented and beautiful Pathé theaters in Amsterdam. Not only is it pretty, it is also the home for most of the movie premier openings that Amsterdam experiences. Some of the biggest starts come to Amsterdam and have their opening night here....red carpet style, of course. Not only is it prestigious but it's biggest movie hall is reminiscent of the grand hall opera/concert halls of years ago. With mezzanine seating, bucket seats and all. The atmosphere in this hall is absolutely breathtaking. I manage a movie meetup group and I always try to book our movie nights in this hall because it just set the perfect tone. This theatre is also steps away from Rembrandt square so you can continue your night with some after drinks at one of the many great bars in the area. This theater though looks small from the outside is an absolute gem inside...a must see!

My colleague told me that Pathé Koninklijk Theater Tuschinski is a historic and beautiful building. We came here last month for the "Fraud Film Festival." We got to see four fraud themed movies that day. Some theater rooms were small and these rooms probably can accommodate 50 people. But, room #1 was huge and this room also had booth section seating. The basement area had the coat check and restrooms. I think this movie theater has other events throughout the year besides being a regular movie theater for most of part. The location for the Pathé is great and it's accessible by metro and tram.

Cool movie theater! You can buy tickets online ahead of time and choose seats. You can add the tickets to google or apple wallet. They have love seats and nice couches. They play movies in English with dutch subtitles. Good place to go for anyone visiting the city.

Close to an area of town that has an overabundance of tacky, this ancient art deco style theater is an absolute gem. Forget the annoying chains with their awful food in the same block and too many people in the evening that have had too much of what is available here, either ingested or inhaled. This is a breath of fresh air. We opted for the slightly higher priced two-person deluxe seats in the back that come with a free beverage of choice (including alcohol or course) and a snack, all with waitress service. And then the movies starts and the evening melts away. What a delightful movie space, and the lobby and underground area where the toilets are, all equally grand. Well done, Amsterdam.

This is pretty much my favourite cinema to come to, because it's so beautiful!!! An old Art Deco masterpiece in the middle of Amsterdam, Tuchinski shows mainly independent and art films, but they usually have whatever the latest blockbuster is showing in the main hall (grote zaal) and that's the one you want to see if you're just visiting. An enormous almost concert hall-like theater complete with original details like private boxes (which you can pay extra to sit in of you want to impress your date). It's well worth the price of a movie ticket just to take a look around :) You can also rent out the big hall for private screenings and events, if so inclined. It's also the theater that hosts almost all red carpet film premieres in Amsterdam, so be sure to check the schedule before dropping by!

If you are into Art Nouveau like me, then you are going to love Pathé Tuschinski. The facade is fabulous and chic and the interior is spectacular. Truly an amazing work of expressionist beauty. I'm such a fan of historic buildings anyway since they don't make them anymore. When you enter the lobby, you'll almost feel like you've been transported back in time. I supposed it was built that way to create an illusion to distort your present reality. So much detail and effort are put into the work that I can't help, but stand there in awe. Black Swan and other foreign art films are currently showing here and was tempted to see one, but there's still so much to explore in the city. I was told that movies here are shown in its original form with Dutch subtitles. It's also kind of expensive and cost as much as a museum, but I did get a chance to see the interior of the lobby. Be sure to check this Art Deco theater if you are in the area and try to watch a film. The architecture is truly beautiful and definitely worth the visit.. It's near Rembrandt Square and tucked between the stores.

If you have the chance, visit this theatre over any other. Every time I'm there it makes me want to check the Internet for the best movie theaters in the world. This has to be one of them! The history behind the theater is that it was built in 1921 by a Polish/Jewish immigrant named Abraham Tuschinski. During World War II the name was changed briefly so that it would not be destroyed and then changed back after the war. The interior annexed terrier for that matter are a mix of different styles, mostly due to various renovations and changes over the years. When you first enter the theater you come into a grand hall with elaborate carpets and massive multicolored lights. It's a really unique lobby and sort of takes you back in time while also giving a bit of modern flair. If you have the opportunity make your booking for the grand hall. It's is actually a live stage at times but also has a massive screen. As a added bonus to this hall (not that you need it) you can get seats in the VIP area. For just a few euros extra this includes a drink and a snack as well as more comfortable seats in the upper balcony. Each time I go there I try my best to get these seats.

This is the most beautiful cinema I have ever been to. In Amsterdam and just anywhere. It is a must visit and also a fun way to spend an evening watching one of the many movies that show here. The building is completely in Art-Deco style, inside and out. It is absolutely beautiful! The biggest blockbusters show in Zaal 1, the biggest room with the biggest screen. Here you can see that Tuschinski was once a theatre; the stage, the velvet red seats, the balconies and the beautiful ceiling. Prices are the same as in the other cinemas in the city so why not choose the most beautiful one? They also show foreign, arthouse and film festival movies who are called PACT movies in the programme. Prices for food/drinks are quite high so I advise you to get your food/drink at the AH-to-go or Jamin next to the cinema en hide them for the cinema staff ;) That will be a lot cheaper.

Outstanding example of Art Deco inside and out. There is a huge main theater and peripheral smaller theaters within the building. Went to see the film Hannah Arendt and was told it was mostly in English with a bit of German thrown in (Dutch sub titles , of course). In actuality, it was mostly in German with a smattering of English. I left after one hour but plan to see the film in Tucson. It looked interesting... Ergonomically correct, comfortable seats. I don't know if this is typical, but the audience was respectfully very quiet...you do not even hear any popcorn chewing.

Oh my god, this place is Classy with a capital C. Even though the interior is so ornate and beautiful, they still sell your common movie theater snacks like popcorn here. However the popcorn options are not butter or extra butter, instead they are sweet or salty. You can ask them to mix the two together for a poor man's Garrett's popcorn experience, but the advantage here is you won't have buttery goo all over your fingers afterwards. I suggest getting a small if it's just for you, and a medium if you are sharing it with another person. To add to the class factor they serve alcohol here, so you can get drunk, but on classy booze like champagne and some weird liqueurs I've never heard of. No Papst Blue Ribbon for you, no sir. The theater seating is great. The chair backs are high, the fabric is velvety, and when the theater is mostly empty there is lots of space to stretch out in all directions. The best part is the culture here makes it so that nobody is talking on their cell phones during the movie, so you can actually enjoy the movie instead of debating whether or not you should punch someone in the throat.

Pathé Tuschinski is the coolest cinema in The Netherlands, and possibly in the world (a bit of chauvinism is OK here ;) ). The theatre opened in 1921, and in recent year it has been restored to its former glory. Imagine yourself being thrown back to the roaring 20's when you enter the foyer, where someone in livery announces the next movie. The main auditorium is built like an old fashioned theatre, with a lot of ambiance. It is actually a surprise when you view a modern day movie in this ambiance.. almost like being a time traveler. Watching classic movies here is a bonus, so be on the lookout for those.

Mice!! Yes, in Amsterdam there are mice and if you want to see them get to this movie theater. They are not big rats, but I do not like to get the noise of mice eating left overs of pop corn and chips on top of the already noisy Dutch audience!! It is an old building, divided in two areas. The old part and the renovated one. The old one has the big theater which is very nice, but hey.. you get charged extra to watch a movie there.... WHOOOOOT? That is is weirdest thing ever. The small theaters in the old part are really crappy and the one close to the toilet smells!! The renovated part is nice but you have to walk 5 minutes up the stairs to get to the movie you have chosen. It is a kind of maze. The tickets can be bought sometimes at the ticket bob by the entrance and sometimes directly at the bar... I did not understand yet which criteria they use. For sure they could use a bit more kindness at the bar. Compare to other theaters they are really rude and careless. If I have the chance, I avoid this place.

What a venue! I went to a movie in the main theatre hall (#1). The architecture alone is as fascinating as the movies you go to watch (hopefully). Much more interesting than your run-of-the-mill movie theatre. The concession has a decent selection including Magnum ice cream. The seats are super comfortable but you do tend to sink a little into them. I'm not sure that there is a bad seat in the theatre. If I do come back, it'd be cool to watch from the balcony just to see what that's like. -1 for the awkward process of ticket purchase: I bought my ticket through the Pathe mobile app and so had a QR code which I thought would be scanned on my way in. But when I showed up to the theatre, I presented my phone to the gentleman to scan only to be directed to the concession for them to scan and print me a ticket (?!?!?!).

Gorgeous and comfortable seating finishes this Art Deco period theatre. Just watching any movie becomes a trip into past with style and class. Seating is assigned when you buy your ticket. If visiting Amsterdam and time allows this is the theatre to choose. We want to go back.

We love Art Deco architecture and design and there are many forms of it in both the exteriors and interiors of buildings all around Amsterdam. One of the most iconic examples of Art Deco is the Theater Tuschinski, right off the Rembrandtplein. Built in 1921 by Abraham Tuschinski, both the inside and outside are a rich, opulent feast for the eyes. Step back in time as you walk around through the ornate lobby, the grand main theater, the upstairs balconies and the backstage VIP room. Besides the Deco style, there are also influences of Gothic, Art Nouveau and the Amsterdam School. The theater still operates as a Pathe cinema and you can take an audio tour of the theater every morning before the first film. A must see for Art Deco and old movie palace lovers! Easily the best cinema anywhere, I was here years ago but it is still one of the greatest things in Amsterdam. Mark irish or scottish film bloke Cousins liked it so much that he used it in his credits. Essntially, this is an art deco building with all art deco wood and lighting inside, so it's like stepping back in time to the 20s. The main auditorium still has private wooden booths to sit in , and fantastic art deco lights, just brilliant. Great place to chill. The Dutch don't dub their movies either, just add subtitles.

The best Jugendstil (Art Nouveau)building and interior public space example in Amsterdam. It is a monument and a 'must see' when visiting the city. Viewing a film is better next door at the Pathe Munt screens where it is the state of the art sounds and screen. At the Tuschinski the sound acoustic is not the best due to the design of the space. Go for the building, enter the foyer, buy some ice cream and look around. Then exit and walk to the Pathe Munt and watch the same movies.

Good variety of movies however very hot theaters with little arm rest room, uncomfortable seats, and no ventilation, Unergonomic seating,the cup holder was badly located at the back of front seat of U rather than by the arm rest, popcorn is a no go, bring ur own ! :(

Pathé Tuschinski is probably one of the most magnificently beautiful theater in the world, no exaggeration. I'm in love with every single intricate detail of this building, it's really breathtaking with it's mix of Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Even if you don't go watch a movie there (which comes highly recommended) but if there is no time, at least take a look inside this gorgeous theater, it's absolutely worth it!

A very traditional cinema near the Rembrandtsplein from the beginning of the last century. It is a really nice and memorably building with the two towers and the interesting facade. If you have the chance, watch a movie from the balcony of the big hall (Zaal 1). It is a great experience.

Programming consists of mostly blockbusters, but they do make space for special events (like IDFA among others) and some art house programming. Screen #1 is the main hall with lavish decorations that have been restored in recent years. An Amsterdam classic, this place.

I went here Saturday evening to watch Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. The theater is very old and is celebrating its 90th year in business. I have no clue what the style of architecture or the décor is, but it very unique and grand. The tickets can either be bought at the bar or through a ticket window, or you can pick up your online order through a kiosk. The bar serves up all kinds of drinks and snacks and all the staff were friendly. The theater that I watched the movie in was very large and airy and the seats were very big and comfortable. I found it odd that seats were assigned, but it was my first movie in NL, so maybe it's common practice. I would completely recommend catching an movie here. The place is unique, clean and big.

Tuschinski....what can I say about this stunning Art Nouveau theater? Built in 1921 (very high tech at it's time) it still is the most well known Dutch movie theater. This place breathes history.. it's like being in the movies yourself. I don't often go to the movies but if I do I first check if I can see it in Tuschinski. I love the old vibe and details both on the exterior and interior. It gives the movie going experience a touch of specialness because of the venue! It's slightly more expensive than the Pathe around the corner, but then again, you get to be inside an interesting and old building! The seats are comfortable and the screens/sounds were fine too.

The look of the Tushinski is already a reason to go since the interior is absolutely beautiful. This is the classiest cinema in Amsterdam and it is the home of special premiere openings. The cinema was built in 1921 and has not changed very much which gives it this beautiful and unique style that you do not normally get in you're average cinema. The cinema has a Great Hall which is stunning and it is worth seeing a movie there especially in that room. The seats are comfortable and the screens are never to small. I recommend that you fill up you're bags of popcorn and sit down and enjoy a film at the Tushinski because it is the best you're gonna get in Amsterdam.
