What used to be a five-star place, and I used to go here for decades because it was such a nice place to go, has now become a place where you don't want to go. Customers buy the bartenders drinks and manipulate the bartenders for favors. Customers who can't even afford to buy themselves a second drink we'll go around asking others to buy them drinks. There was one customer that used to go in there and used to steal the tips on the bartender's and that they had to put a sign up and most recently the head bartender had effect and say was going to take the Jukebox and rip it off the wall. The main problem is that the owner Patty used to go in there and now because she's older and feeble, she doesn't visit the bar as often and so a lot of things are going on there that eventually will probably end up closing the Pro Shop completely. I won't go there anymore and I was a regular for many many years.

The BEST kept secret in Clearwater. Always phenomenal service, super clean & affordable. I have been going there for many years and will be back. Safest place for a straight lady to go have a beverage solo, or with friends.

Love the bartenders there and the regular customers such as myself . Everyone is friendly and outgoing 😀 got to have cash but if not they do have a ATM in the back of the bar.

I waited as a high school student, marching in the band to feel comfortable to walk in and be accepted as a gay man in my community where I grew up. I have been to Pro Shop previously on Valentine's Day a few years ago. My ex was part of a game he ruined that first time in going. Every time I have went recently this year if it's all consisted of 2025, I have been offended and disappointed in my being there, except one afternoon the bartender let me put Freeform on instead of sports. I have had people I know come in while I was there, some made fun of me, some altered their appearance, and it was really not what I thought would be the standard at a gay bar. One of the bartenders has been quite rude and unprofessional. I tried to get his attention to get a drink before happy hour ended, I told him about my drink, and went outside to smoke flower, as was previously told to do. The bartender came outside telling me his shift was over and my tab was $9.75. He didn't offer to transfer the tab, and management didn't have a policy of not inconveniencing me and transferring the tab to the next shift bartender. I put $20 on the bar, and he took a tip out for himself, instead of waiting for me to tip him what I would have tipped him. I didn't want to tip him $3, but he made that decision for me, instead of an envelope for him when he worked next, a service standard in most places. I was also taunted with what I've helped my community in an issue having no addiction to it by staff and patrons as well. I hoped it'd be a gay bar since many have closed and someone stole my phone where I can't use Grindr, Scruff, and such, and being a socially awkward gay man, relied upon them instead of satiating needs like before they were available. Really disappointed at the lack of community, the lack of helping, and the lack of hospitality. Please file a Better Business Bureau Report and Complaint for me.

Good drinks but a smoky atmosphere. Place needs some fresh air or an open patio. Quiet corner bar.

Great local bar. Friendly and attentive bartenders. Make excellent drinks. As a smoker, love the ability to smoke inside, but understand everyone does not enjoy that part. Will definitely be a regular hang out for me!!

No food but you can have it pony expressed over! Happy hour is from open to 7 pm every day, Please confirm with the Bartender. 3 wonderful bartenders you will ever meet! Ask for my favorite bloody Mary, she will know how to spice the place up! CASH ONLY AND ATM IS IN THE BACK!

The Pro Shop is an old-school bar with an amazing music selection digital music player that you can access via app. There's a pool table in the back and tvs all around. Also, darts are available. Friendly staff and patrons all-day long. Kaos, Chris, Adam and Jeff are the bartenders in this local smoking and gay friendly spot. Great prices, shots and atmosphere. Come by for a drink if you're in the area in this cash only local establishment.

This place is a dump. I accidentally fell down and they barred me. Should have hired a lawyer. Chris God rest his soul was concerned but I left . For them barred me, I put my Lithuanian curse on them and hope nothing but the worst for them.

Unfortunately this place is beyond it's time. Its needs a major renovation. Between the awful smell of smoke that's embedded in everything., and the nasty smell of piss in the men's room. I bet if they stay open another year they be lucky.

Didn't like people smoking in the bar. And the music was so loud that I couldn't hear anything anyone was saying. People were yelling at each other. Also, I don't care to see bartenders (Paul) drinking behind the bar, although it's done all the time. And I take exception when the bartender's boyfriend is doing shots and sucking face with the bartender across the bar. It's bothersome to me. Felt like I was sitting in their living room at their house, and I had overstayed my welcome.

This place is authentic yet modern with its taste of music and drinks. The pool table was fun and the bartender was beyond friendly he even gaves us few water bottles to stay hydrated . how thoughtful. I recommend this place for any age group. Ya you get your casual locals trying to hit on you but nothing out of line lol ... Am sure all types would find it fun

Came in because reviews said "must go if youre in town" .. my fiance and i came to clearwater from tennessee to celebrate our anniversary and the idiot bartender denied us service because of our tennessee licenses... hello? we FLEW here, you really think we can trick TSA too? he tested the legitimacy by comparing our licenses to each other.. saying that the watermarks were in different places...

Only one star because they don't give the option of no stars!!!! Poorest excuse of a "gay bar" I've ever seen coming from a straight girl I feel bad for the gay community of this is what Clearwater has to offer!! Bartender is rude with no personality!! They have a measured shot system which = weak shitty drinks!!! For a Thursday night they had 8 people before we got there!! Bar gloomy and no fun!! After attempting to talk to bartender he opened up and had a personality! Gave advice about the area.

Went for the first time with my husband this afternoon after spending some time at the beach. We arrived and the bartender made us feel like we had been coming there for years. He was very funny and witty which made the experience all the more fun! There were about 8 other people at the bar (which was rather great we thought for 2pm on a Sunday afternoon) and they all made us feel like we had been friends with them for a long time even though we had just only met a few minutes ago. A very warm and friendly environment and great drinks to boot!

Dive bar. Smoking bar friendly bar tender. Cheap drinks. I can't stand smoke so never again for me.

On the gay scale this place is a 7 out of 10. Good drinks and decent service. During the day it's a Normal place late at night it can get a bit gay.

Unpretentious, unexpected, and hospitable. A hidden gem in downtown Clearwater. Cheap drinks, friendly staff, and regulars that make you feel at home. You can smoke inside and there's a pool table.

This bar is empty every night. There are metered pourers so if you want a good drink, you need to buy two. It opened in 1976 and nothing has been updated, replaced, or cleaned since. There is no lock on the bathroom door. There is more smoke than people in this place. Some of the bartenders are cool so they probably won't work there long. There are no fresh faces In the bar, just regulars so it's hard to me new people here. Go somewhere else.

I'm a huge fan of the Pro Shop. It's a gay bar in Clearwater and for years it was my home bar. The bartenders are great, Steve and Chris especially. They throw awesome parties at the holidays and the prices are very reasonable. There is always someone to talk to. Everyone is very friendly. I'm a woman, married to a man, and my husband comes with me to the Pro. The Pro was the first gay bar he ever went to and he was so surprised. There was a football game on the TV for him to watch and good prices on beer. He has no problem going back with me now when I visit.

If you're in downtown Clearwater go here. All the bartenders are friendly and you can sing karaoke on Wednesdays.

Oldest gay bar in Florida. It will be 41 years in 2 weeks. It has been a regular spot for me since 1978.I read the other reviews before writing this one. Some are very accurate while others miss the mark. It was never a professional shop of some sort. It was a restaurant before opening as a bar in 1976.It is a very friendly place, open to all. It does not judge. The drinks are inexpensive and the right size and it serves full liquor. The person who wrote that the good bartenders will not stay here very long, really knows little about The Pro. The two primary bartenders, Steve and Chris have been here for many, many years and Steve is also the manager. Its low point is the cigarette smoke and that is why it gets a 4 instead of a 5. In mild weather the doors are open and that helps. But in cold weather and hot weather, one can gag at times when the doors are closed. Because of the smoke many of my good friends stopped going there years ago. But I put up with the smoke because I like the place and it is only 7 minutes from my home. Yes, the place is old but it is untrue that nothing has been improved since 1976. It did not have central heat and air years ago.
