The guy at the front counter is so welcoming makes you want to buy everything inside the store. They are some wonderful people with great pastries. Every time I come here, I buy so much pastry. I cannot stop myself and it is very delicious.

I was incredibly impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the owner when I visited the store. They offer a wide variety of imported foods, sourced from various stores in Detroit. One must not miss out on trying their delicious baklava, OMGosh it’s to die for!!! It is truly a treat for the taste buds. The hot foods, specifically the meat and rice dishes, are both flavorful and freshly prepared. Additionally, their bakery bread is made fresh daily, adding an extra level of quality to their offerings. I am already looking forward to my next visit and would highly recommend this place to anyone!!!

I ordered a birthday cake for my son and also bought baklava from here yesterday. I really loved the birthday cake, and the baklava was fresh, newly made, and tasted amazing. Many thanks to Mr. Yakup and everyone who contributed. Congratulations, Mr. Yakup!

First visit. Very well organized, friendly service and a multitude of spices, teas, herbs- products you're not likely to find any place else in and around Nashville. There's a frozen/refrigerated section and also a small sandwich station. I was happy with my spice purchases.

The kabobs were easily some of the best ive ever had. The tikki was much more tender than most place but still being that dry super flavorful consistency. The ground beef was great, again with the super beefy flavor and tender texture. The shwarma was less impressive, about average really but great flavor, will try in sandwhich form instead. The falafel was AMAZING. And so cheap. This place has great value proposition, and very good flavor. Sides were ok, the soup was good but needed more acidity. Salad was meh. Rice was good but have had much better basmati. They also gave us these rice roll things for free. I have no idea what they are but they were chewy, fragrant, buttery, and good. Would come again cuz of great flavors and very reasonable prices.

I had such a fun time here! This place may not stand out but you should definitely stop by if you like Kurdish/ middle eastern food. Make sure you go to the back of the store to check out the bakery. I saw the real tandoor in person for the first time. Three ladies were working there in the heat making naan and bread. They had different kinds of bread and you will find something you like. I am a sucker for Turkish candies and they have almost everything I wanted! Selection is real great. It's not a huge store but I felt like this place is packed by a lot of good stuff from Middle East.

Under new ownership! First thing I noticed was how much cleaner the store was. Everything from the freshly baked bread, fresh dates and chicken shawarma sandwich was wonderful! I'm going back simply because it feels so much better to shop in a clean and tidy store.

Just had the best shawarma I have ever had at Sulav! i had the chicken with tahini and garlic sauce and it was amazing. Try it, you won't be disappointed. We have shopped at Sulav for a long time for their homemade yogurt, their pitas and samoon and their olive selection as well as an amazing selection of coffees, teas and cheeses. The store has recently been re-done and it all looks fantastic.

The folks at the front desk need a serious customer service training. I will never go there again.

Many years ago(pre-COVID) I went to Sulav market and had one of the most amazing shawarma wraps I've ever eaten. To my knowledge, these are no longer being served. It's a good market with a friendly staff without the fresh food...but man, I wish they would sell those again.

I've been coming here for years and I can't believe I just now thought of giving them the praise they deserve on here. Their shawarma is my favorite sandwich in Nashville! You can choose chicken or beef, then they put it on their delicious homemade bread, put all the toppings and veggies and sauce you want, then press it and make it hot and crispy. Perfection. While you're waiting, you can browse the aisles for some groceries and yummy treats. Plus, the man who makes the sandwiches is my favorite person ever. Definitely check them out!

This place is great - and their shawarma is easily the best part. The market also has so many cooking ingredients much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen in Nashville, and I always find more here than I expected. The only reason I don't give Sulav 5 stars is because they stop serving shawarma at 5PM most evenings. I understand why they do this, but I also find myself really wanting shawarma for dinner some nights, but it's impossible to get there in time.

This is a small store off of Nolensville Pike which hosts a shwarma sandwich shop in-store. I struggled a bit with the organization, but I love that there is a fresh pita shop hidden inside the market. While I was hesitant to grab loaf of pita from the stacks and racks within the room, I was impressed by the quality and freshness of the loaves. I will definitely be stopping by in the future to purchase some. In terms of the other fare, there is a small selection of canned, bottled, and refrigerated goods in a tight space. I ended up only purchasing a mint yogurt drink and a round of dried figs. However, there are plenty of other snacks and refreshment options available, including guava drinks, other yogurt/cheese varieties, and baked goods. I suggest coming with a recipe in mind as there are several ingredients here you can buy in bulk, particularly specialty oils. I'm definitely going to order shwarma from the front next time, but I'm looking forward to fresh pita bread as well.

5 stars for the amazing sandwiches! And really really helpful people. Huge sandwich like huge for 5.99!!! Great store with all the international goodies and chocolates and desserts and teas and spices. If never been- go. It's a great market!

My Shawarma trek down Nolensville Road continues at Sulav Market. I read all the reviews on Yelp and none helped me to understand where the owners are from. I have a Lebanese friend who told me they are Kurdish/Iranian. The Iranians have different names for their breads than the Kurds. There are three different styles of bread to choose from. First, a thin chewy bread, sort of tough, large and round. Then an "eye" shaped pita style bread - round in the middle coming to points on two ends. (That's the one I chose and was very pleased with it.) Then a hoagie shaped roll. I chose the mixed grill, (beef & chicken,) sandwich with the standard everything on it - lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, pickles, parsley, garlic sauce & hot sauce. I thought it was a really good sandwich, I got there late almost two PM and the rotisseries were nearly spent. I think the meats were more dried out than if I'd been there earlier. I liked their bread better than Newroz's (Kurdish,) version although both were good. Newroz, called that shape sammon. Next time I'm going to get the same condiments except I'll add tahini. It wasn't offered but fresh Serrano or jalapeño would jam on a sandwich like that. I'd say Ibrahim's shawarma at A & H is still the best, Sulav a close second then Newroz. I looked through the other Yelp photos and saw they have kofta plates and sandwiches and other things to try like fried chicken? It might be good but could it be better than Popeyes? C'mon, but who knows? Strange sighting - as I was pulling out of the parking lot I saw a hiring sign for a new gyro grill and...seafood shop. Wa? Will keep my eyes peeled for that!

Best shawarma I've had in Nashville, EASILY... -The market is great as well! Always buy my Arabic stuff from them and always cheaper than regular grocery stores. -The bakery is stellar!.. If you want fresh bread (Pita), this is the place. -The staff is very friendly and attentive, and always helpful. -My only complaint is the fact that they close the Shawarma cafeteria earlier than the market.. Please reconsider this!

Shawarma that will change your life. The grocery store also seems amazing. Fresh baked breads and halal meat. It's run by the nicest folks. I love this place, and could literally eat the shawarma everyday.

Finally ...ive found Lebanese style shawrma in Nashville :)).... When i heard about this place and they offering these great shawarmas I just had to go try em. Walking in this is a basically an all in one market, offering a bakery, groceries, other home items. But when you look on the right side as soon as you walk in you can see heaven, the 2 meats being cooked and 2 guys standing. I ordered a chicken and beef, they ask you what kind of bread you would like the thick or the thin Persian bread, I opted for the Persian. The way the cook handles cutting the meat and the other person dressing up the bread with salad and sauces you can tell they have a lot of experience in doing this. The 2 cooks are tag team experts and don't miss a beat. The sandwich is presented in a very professional chef manner for you to eat. So do try these if you haven't and get ready to be blown away. :)

Stupid cashiering person with large order said to help others in line because she was not in a hurry and the cashier did not listen. Waited 10 minutes, put my stuff down and left the store

I have been to the Sulav International Market twice now. They are among just a few places where you can get authentic shawarma. It's definitely a top 3 sandwich in the area. Sadly no one else is ever at the restaurant at lunch when I come, so don't be afraid to try it out. The restaurant is one of the better offerings of the diverse Nolensville Rd area, and adds to my theory that any restaurant on Nolensville Rd with a restaurant built into a market is delicious.

I don't know what the breads they use for the shawarma sandwiches are called, but they're absolute heaven! Reminds me of a torta, but fluffier. The chicken shawarma with the garlic sauce was wonderful, definitely one of the best cheap lunches you can get in this city. Service was very friendly and the store has all sorts of interesting offerings. Highly recommended.

It is the best international market in Nashville (for groceries) they have fresh lamb meat every Tuesday (if you're looking for fresh lever and meat its the place). Staff are great, if you pay cash you get a discount. They have a little bakery for fresh bread (pita bread, roll bread Shami, bread Afgani, sfeha meat (make sure its fresh) and zaatar. Plenty of snacks, spices HOOKA and many other things.

We decided to venture to the market after eating at the restaurant attached next door. It was clean and the people were nice. It had some fresh baked sweets that we decided to sample and they were really good. Now I know where to go to get some of the more exotic ingredients for recipes at a reasonable price. They had fresh dates, spices, different flavors/types of pistachios, and a wide variety of coffees and teas.

Oh Lamb divine! This is where you can find the most succulent tender juiciest lamb in Nashville. And I've been trying to find it for years. The butcher here was super helpful when I was there at his counter shopping for some good meat. I was actually looking for some goat to make a goat curry and asked if there was any fresh goat today. "No Goat! But I have just freshly chopped some lamb chops" so come around here and pick out which ones would you like. What an invitation I could hardly resist because me and hubby LOVE lamb! And that lamb looked really good quality. I selected four of the pinkest chops with and lots of fat - (because as you probably know already that it's the fat that makes the chops more juicy and tender as you grill). We grilled these to perfection that same day and OH WOW! Loved each bite. Definitely going back to Sulav soon.

This is a small middle Eastern supermarket but you can find just about anything in it. The bakery within the store makes delicious wheat and white flatbread. There is also a gyro rotisserie that is very good and reasonably priced. Best part about it is that babe please there are very friendly and helpful.

Okay first of all, I'm not a big fan of shawarma especially the kind that's wrapped in very thick bread. I also find the filling of meat very bland. However, this place is out of this world! They sell the best shawarmas(labenese style)! I tried both beef and chicken shawarma and I have to tell you that the spices come really well with the meat. I love the hint of parsley in every bite. I also tried their chicken kabobs and its so tender and juicy. I felt like the chicken just melted in my mouth. The chick pea soup was okay though. It was kind of bland for me. Honestly though, if you really want good shawarma then you must give this place a try! Not to mention the prices are very affordable for the amount of food you get.

Sulav has become a weekly ritual for me and my boyfriend. The shwarma is absolutely phenomenal! The layout is a bit different, but just know that when you first walk in the shwarma is directly to the right. It is the perfect amount of juicy, salty, and crispy. I get mine with the soft bread and tahini sauce, and it is SO GOOD! The people that work there are so friendly, and we look forward to seeing them every week. Also, the bakery in the back is a must. Everything is so fresh and beautifully baked. If you haven't been here before, I HIGHLY recommend checking it out!

A great one stop shop for fresh pita and other arabic breads the pastries are made fresh too. The groceries selection is huge and the food at the restaurant is so far the best in Nashville specially the shawerma.

The best chicken shawarma sandwich EVER ( get extra garlic sauce ) but the bakery is what makes this place soooo amazing! I've never had anything that wasn't insanely delicious and the market has so much you never knew you needed. These small grocery businesses deserve your support.

Been going several times, they have delicious falafel sandwiches... and I always make a stop at the supermarket as well.

Went here for the first time as I heard they have fresh lamb deliveries every Thursday. I first browsed the shop....a lot of the items have no price tag. I waited for someone to help at meat counter...eventually the old guy came from stacking shelves to help me....did not wash hands...or put on gloves....or wear a mask during the COVID high period. Eek. I am usually not super anal retentive on protocol but when his dirty hands grabbed the half lamb piece to cut off my order I was rather upset. Then he gave me lamb chops when I asked for Shanks and pointed to a posted of a cow when I said those were not shanks. All in all the lamb chops were tasty and meat seemed fresh but I doubt I would shop there again.

Excellent market - lots of great options for a middle eastern pantry, very good cheeses and yogurts, and fresh bakery. Chicken shawarma was also very tasty.

I been living in Nashville for almost 5 years I never seen Arabic/ International store clean like this one. Clean, friendly, and have all what you needed

This place is great. I bought a teapot here. I regularly buy bulgur here. The best bit is the bread though, they make various types of bread, white/wheat lavash, cheese, also some that look more like buns. The bread is fresh and affordable, the only downside is that you have to get there at the right time and I'm never sure when that is. My friends always have luck finding the cheese bread but not the wheat, and I can't find the cheese bread ever but don't seem to have a problem getting the wheat bread. They do have a sign on the window that says tortilleria, not sure who told them to put that word up there but it is a lie. Don't expect tortillas, or anything hispanic beyond some jarritos. They have lots of arab/kurdish products (rosewater, grapeleaves, tahini, turkish coffee, filo dough etc), bulgur/beans/nuts are in bins. They sell baklava by the tray but not individually usually, for that you need to go down to botan market. Most of the time the service is fine, but occasionally I get ignored when I walk or want to pay. I once had to enlist the help of some random man who didn't work there but who could go find the owner to come ring up my order, so don't be surprised if service is a little less than attentive, but the products are great.

This place is heaven! They have the grocery store side of the market which has every Arabic product you could want. They also have a fresh made in front of you pita/bread area as well as a dessert area. The bread and pastries from here are great. Even better is the restaurant attached to the market. Hands down the best shwarma and falafel sandwiches I've ever had. Definitely recommend!

So disappointed. Went here because of the rave reviews. We went at around 4-5 pm and got four shawarmas (lamb since no chicken was available) and at most they were MEH. It was very game-y and unlike other lamb items I've eaten before. And trust me we've eaten plenty throughout various states. We ended up throwing away 3 of the shawarmas. Maybe it was an off day but wouldn't go here again.

Gave this little gem a try today and it did not disappoint. 12:30 on a Tuesday. Small line ahead of me, but not to bad. Only had chicken schwarma option today. I have been looking for schwarma since moving to TN from Michigan. This is exactly what I have been looking for. Marinated chicken, pickles, garlic spread, onions,tomatoes and parsley. Outstanding, Thank you Yelpers!!!

I really don't know what to say here! But it bolts down to customer service at the end. Several weeks ago and as usual I was at the check out, I believe one of the owners or the manger on duty offer me a baklava I am not sure it was baklava but like baklava this particular pastry like baklava he offer was so , so tasty after I left the store I had to come back and get some more because it was so delicious. Now, several days ago I was in again this time I saw the same delicious pastry at the counter and this time I bought 2 lbs. Thinking that my taste buds are going to be thanking me later on..... Boy o' boy was I wrong or wrong...! I was totally disappointed...! I called back a few hours later to say a few thing about it the gentleman who answer the phone was nothing but understanding and put the all the blame on me.. I felt like switched and baited... what a terrible feeling! Terrible customer service! He tells me I should have asked him a sample before I purchased 2 lbs of it. I told hime he should have told me it isn't the same pastry/baklava...! Bottom line is beware! Ask to taste before you buy anything thinking that you are buying the same thing you are buying previously you enjoyed so much of! Clearly it isn't same previously!

The store is great, and has a great variety of German/Bosnian foods. The service is great and the guy at the check out is always pleasant to my family. I love their fresh breads ( usually ready around noon). The only thing I wish would improve is pricing, most items do not have prices listed. Other than that it's a great place to shop at.

A friend from the Middle East told me this is the place to go for Lebanese food in Nashville. He was right. Great shwarma and the groceries and breads are awesome. Try the vegetable relishes. I'm really loving the eggplant relish.

I really love this place. Their bulk department is beyond what you would expect and the prices are pretty competitive. I would have initially given 4 stars because I had a problem with an item I bought initially and had to return. When I went back though they replaced the item with a better product and gave me some of the in house cheese bread made by the ladies in the back. I came in on a whim one day and keep coming back. Very friendly and great selection of products hard to find elsewhere.
