240 Union Restaurant

Dined at this restaurant for the first time after receiving a gift card. Had an excellent experience. We dined on a Saturday night. We did make a reservation the day before to ensure we would be able to dine in. When we arrived it was quite busy and I’m not sure we would have been able to get a table without a reservation. The service was top notch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the pumpkin torchi pasta. As a vegan, I was happy to learn the dish was already vegan, didn’t require any accommodations. The pasta was flavorful and had a nice variety of veggies in it. My dad ordered the clam chowder soup and meatloaf. He said both dishes were excellent. My mom has some dietary restrictions and was unsure if she could eat something on the menu. But when we asked, the waitress was happy to accommodate and make a separate dish of grilled veggies for her. Very grateful for their willingness to do this. Overall the experience was wonderful!

We decided to take our family of six (five adults and a five year old granddaughter) out for a nice dinner to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary this past Saturday evening. I made a reservation with a very friendly woman and mentioned that it was a special night for us...our 40th Anniversary. She told me she would make sure we had a wonderful time. We were sat at a large round table in the corner of the dining room which was nice for conversation. Our waiter was very professional and took care of all our needs. The food was delicious too. My only disappointment was that no one mentioned our anniversary. Even when we ordered our deserts, still nothing. At the end of the night we were told to have a happy holiday. I'm not sure if the woman who took our reservation didn't write it down or someone else dropped the ball. Even though we enjoyed our dining experience, our evening would have been perfect if they had acknowledged our special occasion. Please keep this in mind for your future guests.

This restaurant is always amazing! They have great food and service. Very personable and quick. Had their espresso martinis, fried quail and waffles, and the meatloaf. Everything was delicious. They got us in for a table right away without a reservation. Been here for lunch too and they have a great selection at good prices!

Perfect. My wife and I were looking for a nice place where we could get steaks to celebrate 6 months of marriage. I was looking for a place with pictures suggesting the guests expected an exceptional experience. This one got my attention as being one of the more formal places in town. It is indeed a terrific date location. The staff is all so professional. The host at the front was very friendly and quick to seat us. We had a gentleman named David take our orders. He was very considerate of our dietary needs and went the extra mile to make sure we were served something delicious and agreeable. Many different support staff also served us at different times. Another younger gentleman offered us some more bread. A nice young lady took our plates while the others were busy. And our food was divine. We ordered the Wagyu Steak and a roasted pear salad. I think that was the best steak I’ve ever had. Each of our cuts came out identical. I would expect there’s very little variance coming out of the kitchen. Everything was so awesome. We might just come here every 6 months :) Thank you, 240!

We splurged and went here for a special date night. I don't mind paying high prices for something exquisite that I can't make at home and 240 Union definitely delivered. My husband is a vegetarian and had a great mushroom linguini entree. I was craving salmon and they had an entree with chimichurri sauce over a bed of jasmine rice and black beans. Everything was cooked perfectly, displayed beautifully, had big portions, and tasted incredible. Our server knew her wine and was able to recommend an excellent bottle based on the style we liked while staying within our budget. The tempura shishito appetizer with chili paste and peanut sauce was unique and absolutely delicious! (And it was vegetarian!) At first we were disappointed that they had sold out of their chocolate dessert, but that got us to try something new that the server recommended - an amaretto chocolate pot de creme, which was as perfect as the rest of our meal. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant. Our only small gripe was that it wasn't very quiet and intimate. I didn't see any other tables that were secluded and there was a lot of noise from people talking, but we could have a private conversation by leaning forward and didn't feel like we were on top of the people surrounding us.

We hadn't been here for a few years so we did a pre New Years Eve dinner, with a 6pm reservation. Arrived a bit early, the place was bustling but we were immediately seated, greeted, given water and a basket of bread that was almost my favorite part of the meal! Up front, the negative - so noisy, more like a bar than an upscale restaurant. For this reason alone I would not come back except for a happy hour. Food was very good, I had the chop ($33), she had crab cakes (2/$24), two salads that neither one of us were crazy about (Caesar, another, total $34). But it was not awesome or unforgettable (except that bread....). Glass of cab very reasonable $11 to my surprise and a beer, 10oz I think, $8. Her Whistle Pig was $27, that's fair. If it had a quieter, more 'upscale' and subdued environment it might have been more enjoyable, but it was like a Denny's or sports bar in that respect. 5 star service, no question on that.

I normally take more pics. My first visit. William took such great care of us. Our server Wendy was perfect. The food was incredible. If you’re looking for a cheap national chain chain, not your spot. If you think it’s an overpriced local spot you’d be wrong. When you need a mini vacation, excellent hospitality, extraordinary food, and force farming if $. This is home. I’ll be back. Soon.

The food was good, especially the bread! We would eat there just for their bread. We had the Halibut on special and the Ribeye. Nothing much to say about them other than average good food. Plating was great. We don't do pasta really, but if we did, I'm sure it's amazing. Most importantly, and above all, is the service Zach provided to us tonight (7/20) HE WAS AWESOME! He always checked on us, made sure my allergies were addressed, and was so friendly and helpful.

I've been here many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere are amazing and are always consistent. I attended a Celebration of Life recently for a dear friend and as usual, everything was incredible. 240 Union is his and his wife's favorite restaurant, we have dined here many times so it was a befitting tribute to this legend and family man!! Finally, I sincerely recommend this restaurant!!

We ate in the bar area. Food tonight was very ordinary and certainly didn't justify the cost Bartender unfriendly. Have been here many times but not a good experience tonight - will not be going back any time soon

I have lived my 240 Union for quite a long time, and I know several people who have reccomended this place to me throughout the years. I finally decided to come here during their happy hour, and I was very pleased. The interior is nice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I decided to order an appetizer off their happy hour menu, the tortilla soup, and I tried their meatloaf as well. The tortilla soup has to be one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of eating. My only issue with this dish was that I ate it too fast! The meatloaf was equally tasty and flavorful as well as filling. I'm upset it took me so long to come here but I'm very happy I finally did, and you can bet I will be coming back again very soon!

Still one of the best, most reasonably priced white-tablecloth restaurants near Golden. Excellent food and service make this a must-try spot on your list! Had scallops and my honey has the crab cakes and we both went away pleased as punch.

Omg our server was the sweetest. Went to 240 Union for a work meeting and dinner. It was the best! Everything was delish! I'll be back 240 Union !! From the salad to the entree was delish. Ambiance was cute and quaint.

I tried 240 Union for the first time Friday night and found the experience to be delightful. Our server, Will, took great care of us. I tried the recommended mocktail (I'm pregnant) and it was not only tasty, but I really appreciated that it was served in a regular cocktail glass, which always makes me feel like I'm still at the party with everyone else. The warm focaccia bread and butter they serve to start is soooo yummy it would be easy to fill up on it. We had the calamari for a starter and while it was very good, my favorite part of the dish was the tempura jalapeños. I had the halibut special for my mains. It was good, but my husband's pistachio crusted pork chop was truly amazing. Finally, I had the chocolate tart as recommended by our waiter and it was fantastic. They either make them in house or outsource to a good bakery because it didn't taste of Cisco or Shamrock at all, as is the usual reason I skip dessert when I eat out. We'll definitely be back- my husband is looking forward to trying out their Sunday night prime rib special!

This place has just fantastic food. It can sometimes be a little bit busy and a little bit loud, but it's worth it.

Amazing dinner here. Tara was an awesome server with great recommendations and timing. Absolutely loved the duck entree. Probably one of the best duck dishes i have had. Beautiful grilled duck breast with blueberry reduction over squash risotto. Yummy!!!

This is m new go-to place for a nice dinner with white table linen service, knowledgeable servers, great ambiance, and outstanding chefs. Kevin took good care of our table and helped us with menu and wine selections. I ordered the Pork Rib chop with the pistachio crust and scallion risotto which was absolutely delicious and tender and juicy. You'll regret it if you don't have it when you visit. The bread service is sooo good-warm soft focaccia seasoned just right with your own butter cup. We also ordered the Calamari and Wood Oven Roasted Cauliflower appetizers- excellent! There is a great selection of wines and some unique cocktails to try out too. We finished things off with carrot cake and finally threw in the towel.

We are trying to stay out of downtown and surrounding areas. New goal is finding new fave restaurants in the 'burbs. 240 Union didn't disappoint. Food was solid (except the mussels: do not order). Service pretty good. Wait times were not good but they were really busy. We'll be back.

The best restaurant in Colorado. The pork chop and seafood are amazing and the desserts, cocktails and service make this an awesome experience for holidays! Prime Rib sundays are to die for!

Unexpected Gem - A Must-Visit! We flew into Denver for a concert at Red Rocks and dinner was honestly an afterthought. We found 240 Union, booked a reservation, and hoped for the best. What we got completely exceeded expectations. The food was amazing. We had the Wagyu steak and the Salmon Bowl--both were absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. But honestly, the highlight of the night was the service. You don't find hospitality like this anymore. Our server, Micah, was fantastic--super knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. He helped guide us through the menu with thoughtful recommendations and even shared some great Red Rocks tips. He made us feel truly taken care of, which made our first night in Colorado that much better. Whether you're a local or just in town for a concert or weekend trip, 240 Union is a must-try. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area!

A little loud. When planning their next remodeling, they should incorporate some noise suppression panels in the ceiling. However, the loudness isn't enough to keep people away. It has been here for many decades... since I lived on Green Mountain back in the 90s. That says something for its staying power! In fact, in a previous visit, my girlfriend inquired if they were hiring, and the waiter politely said no. He went on to explain that people die here! Not in that sense, but in the sense that they don't leave once they get a job there.! He called over another waitress and she went on to say that she was there for 14 years and her brother was there for more than that. Then he pointed out the owner sitting at the bar, an older Gent enjoying his Empire.....even in his off hours! As for our dinner, both of our meals were excellent. I can't recall all that we had, but my son enjoyed his Salmon and I enjoyed my Flank Steak. an excellent meal!...We will return!

Wonderful meal with wonderful service. Had the Wagyu Flank Steak, tender and delicious, finished it off with the Key lime pie. Great food for a reasonable price. Only disappointment is that they don't have any IPA's on tap, cmon this is Denver, hook up with one of the local breweries...

240 Union is a great resturant! We were invited for a special birthday celebration. There were 19 in our party. The resturant setting is beautiful. Our main server Kevin was outstanding. The food was amazing. We had a choice of filet or salmon and everyone raved about their food! Will definitely be going back.

The food was FANTASTIC. Absolutely incredible meal. We had the seasonal peach salad, steak and pasta dishes plus the berry cobbler. Top notch!! The issue we found was in the service of our waiter, Ryan. We watched him go over and above for all other patrons but ignore us completely. Another server had to take our drink order after 10 minutes of sitting around waiting for him to greet us (Rebecca is awesome!). He never offered drink refills, dessert menu, check. We had to ask for all those things. Overall, we were left wondering why we received such poor service when others around us were treated very well. It was not a staffing issue or the other patrons in his section would have also felt the crunch.

Neither my friend nor I had been to 240 Union in many, many years, but we were in the neighborhood and decided to give it a try. Most restaurants that date to 1989 tend to be tired and set in the past. Not 240 Union (despite the least creative name ever)! The space looked great, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. I remember the small shopping strip that 240 Union anchors as very old and sad. It has been completely transformed with a huge investment by the landlord into a state-of-the-art destination with a steel facade and massive stone pillars. I was shocked. The interior of the restaurant is a huge space, but nicely divided into several private rooms, a large, rectangular bar set at an angle to the left of the entrance, and a huge, permanently enclosed front porch (this may be a new feature as I don't remember it). The main dining area is broken up by a series of large, polished hardwood dividers/sculptures reminiscent of the Rocky Mountains. There is a huge open kitchen at the back of the dining room. Service was friendly and very efficient. Our entrées came out in record time although we had arrived at the peak of lunchtime and the restaurant was almost half full. I had the farfalle with lobster, sweet corn, mascarpone, lemon zest and chives. The waiter came by to grind on fresh parmesan. The portion was large. Every item was cooked to perfection and the flavors were fantastic with a delicate, delicious sauce. My friend had "chicken tetrazzini" spaghetti with criminis, peas, sherry, parmesan, and breadcrumbs. He was equally complimentary about the quality of his dish. We both took home bulging boxes of leftovers. We really enjoyed ourselves and are eager to return. Do be aware that this space is all hard surfaces and can get very noisy with a large crowd. There is a nice concrete ramp leading straight from the parking lot to the front door for those who are handicapped. Unfortunately, things deteriorated when I attempted to eat my leftovers. For some inexplicable reason, 240 Union took my beautiful plate of food and jammed it into a Chinese restaurant-style cardboard box. These boxes are not recyclable due to the coated cardboard. I ended up with a congealed block of garbage that was impossible to reheat. What are these folks thinking? There are lots of recyclable or compostable take home containers in which you can nicely lay out a fancy plate of food. I was really looking forward to my leftovers. What a disappointment.

Neon Beyoncé is very elegant I love sitting at the bar if I'm alone as well. The food is amazing the quality the presentation and everything about the food is top-notch. The staff is friendly and very professional.

While I would normally give this place 5 stars. Meaning the food, service and atmosphere is always very good. However the prices here have gone up so much that we rarely darken the door anymore. I hope things return to to a reasonable price. I would love to think we are getting a nice meal at a fair price and not being gouged

Absolutely stunning atmosphere here! The food is amazing as well, as pictured & the drinks are even better! The drinks are dive bar price BUT with 5 star restaurant quality, ordered a few drinks & they were only 7 bucks each! We got the flank steak & salmon (2 of the more expensive items) but it was deliciously cooked. We enjoyed this dinner so much! Highly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable fancy restaurant option for a date night or gathering! Very clean bathrooms too & parking is readily available, even on a busy weekend night! The staff was great as well, and can't wait to go back!

Been coming here for years. Honestly had a very salty meal here years ago and hadn't been back for a while. My mother-in-law loves this restaurant so been coming back several times now and each meal is excellent. Miss the bread sticks but the bread they are serving now is soft and crusty and delicious. My husband got the meatloaf and loved it. I got the shrimp cocktail, best I've ever had. I got the Halibut. Excellent and requested extra lemon sauce (needed it), it was amazing! We had the Blueberry Lemon Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream and even though we were stuffed, finished that too. The service is always spot on. Highly recommend!

One of the most consistently great restaurants in Colorado. Great food, great service and innovative dishes!

240 Union is a Lakewood are favorite. We went here for a birthday and had a satisfying meal on a cold night. The calamari tempura was what you would expect from a calamari appetizer but the fried green beans added a nice touch. The brussel sprouts appetizer was tasty. However, they were not crispy as advertised in the menu description because of how much sauce was on them. For my entree, I created my own mussels frites. I ordered the PEI mussels appetizer and a side of fries. The white wine and butter sauce was garlicky and a bit spicy. The fries were ok, but when dipped in the white wine sauce... amazing! Others at the table enjoyed their meals of the short rib, pizza, and shrimp pasta alla vodka. Overall, this is a good family spot. A bit upscale, yet traditional.

We had a party of five and even though our reservation was for four they kindly accommodated us. The food and service were impeccable! Special mention to our server Michah. He was great! Highly recommended!

This is a more upscale venue with a lovely menu and atmosphere. We went on Prime Rib night and had a 6:30 pm reservation. It was sold out. Our party ordered the mussel appetizer and really enjoyed it. The bread was hearty and delicious. We ordered 2 fish entrees and 2 pasta entrees. All were enjoyed. The items we wanted from the dessert menu were sold out but we settled on the apple cake. It was fine. The prices are high and because of this, we expected outstanding service. Unfortunately the service was fair at best. It was slow and awkward. The waitstaff was in each other's way, even bumping into each other and customers' chairs.

240 Union is not only the name of this restaurant its also the address! I nice little place near the Denver Federal Center. Its fancy, but not pretentious. The service here was fast and prompt. Both my water glass and my Ice tea was always topped up. The bread that was brought out before my meal was hot fresh and soft and the butter melted on top like a freshly glazed donut. (mmmmmmmm, donuts ). The radicchio salad was fresh, crisp, and added both a surprising taste and also a vibrant color. I was intrigued with the menu for the chicken breast, which was grilled to perfection, but the star of the dish was the eggplant fries! Yes America, the humble eggplant can be fun to eat. It was sliced, breaded and fried and tasted quite delicious, I was almost tempted to order a second helping! If you find yourself in this section of Lakewood, be sure to check out 240 Union, youll be glad you did!

Love sitting at the bar for Happy Hour - Restaurant ambiance is pretty cool - Hard to believe you are in a strip mall. Food is great ! Wonderful selections of wines and cocktails

First visit tonight for a Christmas party and it was amazing. General appearance of the restaurant was amazing. Very nice setting. Wait staff was amazing, very attentive, polite, and helpful Appetizers were amazing, bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious, chips with salsa and guacamole was amazing, skewers were perfect. I had the steak which was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The wife had the salmon which she loved. Cocktails were also very good as were the desserts. We will definitely make the hour drive to return.

Father's Day at 240 Union was perfect! The staff was friendly from the hostess to the weight staff TEAM members, all of whom worked diligently to make our experience special. But the best part was the food!! From the incredible focaccia bread, to the calamari that was spiced with jalapeño slices and green beans. The crab cakes with a delicious sauce, and the muscles in a sauce/broth that you just can't waste so you dip your bread into it! The prime rib was perfection! The Flank Steak is served with the most amazing Basalmic reduction (I believe). The meatloaf is jam packed with such savory flavor!! Wow! I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion! Classic dining experience!!

240 Union does it right. Large restaurant, but one that still understands how to please customers one at a time. Excellent food quality. Exceptional service. Great location. I like restaurants that have cloth tablecloths and napkins, plus real forks and knives. 240 Union does. It was packed on a weekday. Get a reservation. The calamari appetizer was amazing. Served with tempura fried jalapenos and green beans, every bite was delicious and tender. The sweet orange sauce delightful. The salmon perfectly pan seared and served with fennel and olives -- delicious. Special pizza with Italian sausage outstanding. As a recent transplant to Lakewood, easy to understand why 240 Union has stood the test of time -- consistently great meals served each time.

We had a wonderful night at 240 Union. We got the mussels and crab cakes to start. Amazing would get again. I got an espresso martini. It was made perfectly. Everybody really enjoyed their meals. We a cheeseburger, salmon and the pork chop.

Another wonderful visit. It was a busy Saturday night and we were right in the thick of things but we still made conversation alright. Service was excellent. As a suburban haunt I'm always worried 240 will disappoint but they balance stability with creativity perfectly. Had the crab cakes which were wonderful. The risotto is divine. Solid all around.

Great service, great food and excellent ambiance. I had the lamb t-bone and it was succulent, flavorful and one of the best I've ever had... I would highly recommend trying them if you haven't already!

This restaurant is a unique combination of opposites. It's classy, but casual. Almost like a yacht club. The food is chef kitchen quality but you can still get an all American hamburger, personal pizza or mac-n-cheese. With it's white table cloths I expected it to be a little stuffy but the staff was anything but... being friendly, attentive and personable. We went here to check it out for an upcoming family gathering. I went with the hamburger. It was HUGE and juicy and... perfect. After the meal we spoke to the bartender and he walked us around to find the best table for our future visit. He was so helpful. I mentioned to him how I expected the lunchtime conversations not be so lively because of the white table cloth decor. He said one of the unique designs of this restaurant is that the acoustics were made in such a way that you can have a lively conversation but your words don't travel well to the next table, making it ideal for private business deals. I don't know about business meals but I can tell we are going to have a great dinner gathering in the near future. TIP: The menu is seasonal and changes every few months.

Wonderful service and atmosphere. Mussels were yummy! Lobster roll was mostly claw meat and very good as well.

As a CO native, I don't know what took me so long to visit 240 Union. It's amazing. It's not super casual and not overly fancy, but reservations are recommended. The wait staff was extremely kind and informative, and the food was phenomenal. 240 Union uses local ingredients to keep their menu filled with new seasonal items. I visited in the late summer/fall for my birthday, and was overwhelmed with the variety of food they were offering. I got the jumbo shrimp and peach salad appetizers and scallops for my main meal. My family got a pasta dish and seafood soup/stew. We got creme brûlée for dessert, and everything was perfectly seasoned, fresh, and were in great portions. Definitely recommend for your next special dinner or if you just want to "treat yourself!"

In the last year of caring for my 92yo mother I have eaten at 240 Union almost every week because she "knows the owner." The ONLY item that was satisfactory was the Artichoke from 2 menus back. I have dreaded the experience every time. I always over tip the waitstaff as it is not their fault that the "Chef" is incompetent! I am a VEGETARIAN, I should not feel ostracized because of my ethical choices! I don't drink either. I don't think the chef tastes their food! I don't know what the white sauce was on that veggie pizza a couple or three menus ago but it was disgusting, I couldn't get past the second slice. Then, one time I ordered that same pizza with Red Sauce instead, guess what? It came without any sauce! I showed my server. Yet it was still on my bill. So, whatever the new white sauce is... I don't know, I am too SCARED to try it! The smell of the Mussels was totally disgusting like they had sat out for a day! I dipped some bread in the sauce to see why it smelled like rot... they didn't have any garlic in the supposed wine sauce which didn't taste like wine either. Were they only cooked in plain water without sauce? That seems to be a recurring problem here! My mom frequently chooses the meatloaf, because she can't remember that she almost always says: "This is the Least Plate!" (It must be an old saying.) Really? Their chef can't even make decent Meatloaf‽ And what is with the Horrible Pizza? I didn't know you could screw up a pizza, even on the dry "par-baked" crust that it appears they use. Oh, but heres the kicker and why I will NEVER RETURN! The last time I was at 240 was November 5th. I ordered a salad. This time I asked that it not have arugula on it, that is a bitter Garnish Lettuce. I got a salad, with six radish slices, 1 green olive and three cucumber slices, some shredded carrots on a bed of Romaine (guessing) lettuce and NO Salad Dressing! BTW: the house dressing is weak and inadequate with out any other choice offered! In the photo you may notice some pepper. I added that trying to make it palatable! The owner Michael C. expedited it to my table and I didn't want pepper. Anyway I sent it back, no one even offered to fix it! I got the bill and you know I paid for a DRY SALAD! I only get Verbal apologies every time I complain and then I pay full price! Last week I took Mom to a "Franchise Burger Joint" and proved I could get a better vegetarian meal there and pay half the price and the service was just fine. This pretense to fine dining is such a disappointment. Even my mom's dearest neighbor says she hates their food. Her husband said "It was okay," but admitted they won't go there anymore either. Wow! It's not just me!

Very good and very reasonably priced! The pasta was amazing! My bf had the short rib which was also good. I've had better calamari overall so would skip that in the future! Complimentary bread is incredible!

What a little hidden gem! I can't believe it took me so long to find it. In the corner of a strip mall, the place is much bigger than it looks like from the street. There was a standard menu, and the grilled flank steak was the meal of choice. It was well grilled and cooked pretty close to desired temp - maybe a smidge over. The soup of the day was a cauliflower cream, which was lights out. The staff were prompt and polite. Looking forward to revisiting, maybe for dinner next time.

We have been coming to our favorite restaurant in the Denver area for over 35 years. We do our birthdays, anniversaries and any other occasion we can find. Michael is probably the best owner in Denver. We have loved Cafe des Artistes in NY, The Tadich Grill in SF and we love this place as much. The staff is friendly, helpful and have been here a long time. When we come in they greet us by name and know our favorite table. It is that kind of place. The menu changes but certain favorites stay such as the capellini. Desserts are truly sinful, particularly the Key Lime pie. We love the bread which is baked there. If you have a business function/lunch in their private dining area with a dedicated server you will be treated exceedingly well. Great food, a must try when you're in Denver! Happen to be next to the hotel but glad we ended up there and trying their seafood

Came in for early dinner. Greeted immediately and service was quite good. Cocktails were good. One person in our party of 4 had the special for night grilled halibut. I think that was the winning entree. Two others had capellini..not great. And the other had meatloaf also not great. Calamari was good! Key lime pie was excellent as was the carrot cake. Actually went to 240 Union for their linguine with clams but no longer on the menu. Won't return any time soon.
