Great curry! There are a lot of entrees that can be made vegan. The owner made sure to ask us if we wanted to omit fish sauce, before we mentioned we wanted the vegan version. The food was AMAZING. I got curry with no spice and it had just a little kick, but not enough to bother me. The fried tofu was great too! The curries are all gluten free. The menu specifies what you can and cannot have if you're vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free. I highly recommend checking this place out. There is only 2 tables that accommodate 4 people and 3 tables that accommodate 2 people. So not great for big parties. Recommend getting take out if you have a big party.

Google
Do NOT go to this place. I can't comprehend how this place has a 4.6 star rating, 2 stars would be more reasonable. If you want to eat Thai food, go to any other Thai restaurant for better portion sizes and pricing. Horrendous. I understand that this is a family restaurant and all that, but that doesn't make up for the incredibly small portion sizes and high prices. Sure, it is a pretty local restaurant, but if you want to start a restaurant, you have to be in it to fight. Restaurants are NOT an easy business. There are many other great Thai restaurants with more reputation and flavor. The DUI Noodles were very bland. The broccoli beef was about half a cup serving size and very little beef. They did provide a "free" spring roll with each meal, probably to compensate for the disastrous meal sizes, but even that was as flavorful as rice. They have minimal seating and don't give out many utensils or amenities. I would add photos had I taken them. 0/10 would not reccomend

If you love Thai cuisine, this is not the place for you. We have eaten at wonderful Thai restaurants coast to coast. This is the worst Thai food we have ever eaten. It was disgusting. We cannot grasp how this place has earned 4.6 stars other than suggesting the people that gave this place good reviews must not have ever had truly exceptional Thai to compare it to… Do NOT waste your time, money or appetite here. Take a look at the photos I posted of the signage on the inside and outside. It will reflect how “warm and welcoming” this place was… atmosphere is a joke, just like the food. The only positive I can suggest is that the young person who served us and took our payment for dinner was pleasant and friendly. The elder person (I assume the owner) was unfriendly and sat silently and stared/glared at my wife while we ate our dinner. Horrible dining experience overall.

Google
This place has delicious and very flavorful food. They can do Thai spicy right! They have a great mix of heat along with flavor. Staff is very friendly and courteous. This place is a must try when in Abilene!!!

Google
Krua Thai is amazing. Nice family owned place that is authentic. Good amount of food that always tastes good. I have never had a bad experience. My wife and I love the Curries. Everything else is amazing as well, we just love Curry with rice. Get a Thai tea too!

Kayla C.

Google
The food and thai tea at Krua Thai is absolutely amazing. The sweet little lady that works there at lunch is always kind and attentive, she works very hard and I appreciate her very much. This has quickly become one of my favorite and most frequently visited lunch spots. I typically get mine to go because I run over there on my lunch break and space is very limited for seating.

Kaelyn M.

Google
Love the Chinese sweet and sour and my husband loves the red curry and sticky rice with banana. Son loves the noodles. She is very friendly and always remembers us. Seating is limited, we are usually taking it home to eat anyway.

Google
Unless there's no other Thai place in Abilene I do not recommend it. I ordered Panang Curry and it was not like Panang Curry I've had anywhere else and the reason is because they went real cheap on the coconut milk. With tea it cost $14. Not worth $4

Yelp
Krua Thai hit me with exactly the kind of meal that makes you sit back and grin like a fool. The chicken pad Thai was everything my stomach had been whispering about all week--sweet, savory, just enough tang, noodles that practically hugged the fork. They didn't skimp on the chicken either; every bite felt intentional, like the kitchen actually wanted me to leave happy. And then the portion size? Generous in the best way. I went in thinking, "I'll take half home for tomorrow," but let's be real--there was no tomorrow for that pad Thai. It disappeared. The service sealed it. Warm, quick, genuinely kind. None of that robotic "how's everything tonight" stuff--just people who seemed happy I was there. By the time I walked out, I felt a little lighter (spiritually, not physically, because I inhaled those noodles). Honestly, it wasn't just dinner. It was exactly what I'd been craving and a reminder that sometimes a simple dish, done right, can feel like a hug from the universe.

Yelp
Honestly, the most slightly below mid Thai food that I've ever had in my life. The flavor was so weak I felt the only flavor coming through was spiciness. I got the pad see ew and na kam jeep appetizer. The food was just edible I hate to say it. Personally I wouldn't go back even if I was craving Thai food. The wait for the food was also extremely long, but I won't dox them on that, the food being a 45 minute wait doesn't make it worth it at all though.

Yelp
Krua Thai is the best Thai restaurant in town, and my favorite. The food is consistently delicious, and there is quite a variety to choose from. We have been friends with the owner, Lak, for years, and she is a wonderful person. The dining room is very small, so it can be hard to get a table. She doesn't accept any groups over 8. Be aware that Thai food can't be very spicy when ordered that way. I used to order 4 star, the spiciest. And it was hot! Now I order 1 star. My stomach just can't handle it anymore. And you can't return any food that you order too spicy. You ordered it, it's yours! Again, the food is delicious, and well worth a visit by you!

Yelp
I honestly wanted to give 3 stars but I gave it 4 because I talked to my local thai restaurant and they did inform me that in some parts of Thailand this is what they eat. For me it was just ok but we are not local. I didn't get pictures because I left my phone behind but I ordered the sesame chicken two spice. To add spice they simply added red pepper flakes. The food was good but not great. I'm biased, though. It's a small place and the server we had was very friendly. I'd go again if I was in the area.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the food was "edible" I have definitely had worse. My order: Chicken pad thai Thai fried rice w. Chicken I ordered my food in there "hottest flavor level 4 thai hot" I asked for double that because I really enjoy spicy food. Like really spicy. It was spicy but not what I was hoping for. The food was very bland in flavor compared to other restaurants of the same genre. I didn't even finish the fried rice. (Took 3 bites and did not continue) the rice and pad thai both had this bland taste that I just couldn't shake. Service in general seemed to be fine other than the abnormally long wait for a takeout order. My order took quite awhile to be completed about 40-45 minutes and I called in 30 minutes ahead of my time of arrival to the restaurant. The restaurant was not super busy. As for the atmosphere they had several off putting (almost rude) messages and signs all over the walls basically stating on one almost word for word "if you don't like the rules here then leave" So you could do worse eating here but I promise you could absolutely do better.

Yelp
Traveling through we stopped here for yummy Thai food and got just that!! Good service, and the food was really fresh!! Be careful with spice levels and no big parties! The seating is limited!

Emily H.

Yelp
The food was amazing, and the service was so good! We had such a wonderful experience! I took my little kids in with me and the staff were so kind to my 2 year old and 6 year old! We will definitely be back! I had panang Curry, and I loved it!

Desiree S.

Yelp
I always come to Kris Thai I found this gem a while back and I'm so happy that it's still around the food is amazing and I've never had an issue with an order! Great little hole in the wall and the service is always friendly being it is family owned.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love everything about Krua Thai! The owner is a delight! She is always so friendly and full of fun conversation when she's not busy. The food is always amazing and full of flavor. We have tried so many of the dishes and have enjoyed every one of them. My particular favorite is the Massema curry mild with chicken and the spring rolls. The restaurant is small and delivery is not an option but you can do pickup. Anytime someone asks about Thia food this is the only place I would recommend!

Yelp
Multiple people recommended Krua Thai in Abilene and I can sure see why! One of them mentioned to grab it to go and I certainly didn't understand this was a thing. There are only about 4 to 5 tables inside, and the staff will not move them together to accommodate larger parties. Your whole party must be present to be seated but you can tell they certainly prefer you to take your food to go. Regardless, we had seven of us who chose to be seated. You can definitely tell they are authentically Thai based on this level or lack thereof service. I love that the bottom of every page in the menu states "food cannot be returned if too spicy". We ordered a little bit of everything- fried spring rolls, fried shrimp rolls, fried tofu, pad see ew, pad, Thai, panang curry, and Thai basil. Everything was incredibly delicious and this is one of the best Thai food restaurants I've had in all of Texas. Their Thai tea is one of the best quality teas I've had the pleasure of drinking, although it wasn't as sweet as I would prefer. I would definitely chuckle given a Thai iced tea is 2.99 while a Thai tea with no ice is 4.99. We got everything with mild spice as we were certainly scared off between the signs around the restaurant and in the menu. It was the perfect spice for me as someone who enjoys a tiny kick. When you are finished, you pay at the front and they do not take any type of tap payments. I will definitely be back every time I pass through Abilene! Although I'll likely take it to go next time!

Yelp
We have an exchange student from Thailand this year so we wanted to learn more about her homeland food. I had never experienced Thai food but I have to say it's wonderful. This small place was buzzing with to go orders , all the tables were full and yet we got great service and awesome food. I am a heat sissy so I ordered mild and it was still warm.... But so much flavor and goodness! We will be back !

Yelp
Best Tai food in Abilene. Very small sitting area but still possible to eat in and take out is great. Lady in the back is very skilled. As others said the spice scale is 1 to 5. 2 is still spicy but no danger. 3 and up are entering the danger zone. Don't get the fried spring rolls. Curry's are great as well as Tom Yum soup.
google avatar

Ann N.

Yelp
Best Thai food I have had since Kanomwan closed in Houston. 3 is what most people call Thai Spicy. Had amazing Tom Yum Kung soup, Krapow (chicken basil. Don't let the location or small size of the restaurant make you miss out.

Yelp
Tried this place today and it was terrific! The host was perfectly lovely and helpful. The food came out quickly and was great! I ordered green curry with a heat level of 3 (hot) and while it was spicy it didn't overwhelm me. I guess it's because I am Korean and usually eat quite a lot of spicy food. My husband had Pad Thai and he enjoyed it very much. We also had fried shrimp rolls for an appetiser. Sure the place is small and the seating is limited but we arrived at just the right time and finished just as the place was filling up. We also got a kick out of the house rules that were written on the dry erase board. Will definitely be going back. Just great!

Yelp
I had the thom kai soup and it was very good and authentic tasting. The service was friendly and cozy dining area for dining in. It's a gem in Abilene

Yelp
Excellent food and can never go wrong with curry. I have never been disappointed with the food or service.

Yelp
We were so expressed with the fabulous food at Krua Thai. I had the fried rice tomatoes onion and chicken. It was delicious! Hubby got the peanut sauce chicken, he liked it BUT if you don't like sweet sauce don't get it. There are few tables so be aware. We will be back. So thrilled to find this authentic Thai restaurant!

Yelp
Great Food, I love spicy just a warning 3 is hot, better stick with 2 1/2. Best Thai in Abilene.

Ben H.

Yelp
Great Tom Kha soup and others too. Spiced right to request. Thai curries and noodle dishes have been great as well. Convenient hours.
google avatar

Laurence B.

Yelp
This place is legit home style Thai. Everything is cooked with attention and love. The wait is a little long, but it is well worth the wait. I will be back!!

Bobby F.

Yelp
Amazing and the owner is a kick. Service is typical street thai and is just a cool little place. Quaint and clean...
google avatar

Ruth R.

Yelp
Good take away pad Thai , curry and fried rice dishes. You can phone in and it's ready when you get there.

Richard D.

Yelp
I ate at this restaurant for 6 years. It was the best Thai food you'd get for 100s of miles. The only reason I still don't eat there is because I PCSed and I swear after living in Washington DC for over a year I can confirm not even the big city thai restaurants touch Krua Thai. I wish I could eat here again. Support your local business and keep this place around. I'd recommend the Chicken Pad se ew, DUI noodles, green curry or gang masaman at spice lvl 2 (never any more you have been warned). Also would recommend the spring rolls, I can't find another place that does it anywhere near as good as them.
google avatar

Rob A.

Yelp
Very small place but huge in character and excellent food! The lady that runs the place is the greatest!
google avatar

Rayne G.

Yelp
I want to start with the food being a good flavor and amount for the price. However, there was not many seat's available and the waiting for the food/seats took a good minute. The ambiance of the restaurant is really calming. There aren't any public restrooms so I wouldn't eat/drink too much if I knew I was far from a toilet. I would eat here again but I would have to order over the phone and maybe eat in my car. I also could not find any health grade paper which was slightly alarming.

Stone D.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Thai between Houston and Albuquerque (maybe even Houston and Chiang Mai). The kuy teav is beyond compare. A rare jewel in Abilene.

Ockham R.

Yelp
Best Thai food I've ever had anywhere! My "review needs at least 85 characters" says Yelp so, yeah, best Thai food I've ever had anywhere! And the homies that run Khrua Thai are also wonderful people. Voila.

Story S.

Yelp
Walked in and placed order to go. Were told it would be 30 min because of another order that had to be taken care off. Came back 30 min later, first they couldn't remember our order, we finally got it after we had to tell them again what we ordered. Maybe take names for orders ? Got home, tasted the Teriyaki Chicken, it didn't look like what we expected and it was super spicy. All the meals were ordered mild !!! So I called and asked if maybe they got something wrong. After speaking to 2 different people, the "cook" got on the phone and stated that that's how the meal is. We ordered mild and got mild , the Teriyaki chicken comes with tons of spices that you can see and not really a sauce but oil. Instead of offerering to redo the food to our liking, they argued and were rude. Will not return and definitely not recommend this place.

Yelp
I wanted to "like" my take out order. Given the good reviews from so many customers, I had high hopes. The service was friendly and the speed for my order was reasonable (35 minutes on a Monday night). Value seemed reasonable. The food, however, was disappointing. First, the spice. I've had literally hundreds of Thai curry meals, always "chicken medium." That is what I ordered this evening. However, oh my goodness whooooeee, the kitchen added a bunch of red pepper and this was much hotter than anticipated. 30 minutes later my mouth is still burning. "Medium" was at least "hot," perhaps even Thai hot. My wife's "mild" Thai Basil was more like "medium," almost more heat than she could handle. The spice levels covered up any clear flavors of the protein and sauces in both entrees. The Thai Basil was a smaller portion, lunch size...but this was dinner. Also, the beef was rather tough. Green curry chicken was tender and had some distinct flavors, but little liquid, more stew-like. I've come to expect variations in how green curry is prepared, and while this wasn't bad it was not the rich, soupy goodness I had hoped for. All in all, good potential but we did not come away as impressed as others here. Maybe an off-night? Regardless, I rate this as 3-star for now, with little chance of us returning.

Yelp
Disappointed because everyone recommended this place and said how good it was. Portion size of the pad Thai was pretty big, but where's the flavor? No peanuts, and barely any chicken or bean sprouts. First pad Thai I've had that didn't come with cilantro. The spring rolls were small but crunchy. I'll try other places before going back.

Broderick P.

Yelp
Amazing food. Can't go wrong there. The green curry, pad Thai, dui noodle are all amazing.
google avatar

Brandon T.

Yelp
I cannot get enough of Krua Thai. I can't believe we are lucky enough to have this restaurant in Abilene! Their chicken panang curry is unreal! The owners are amazing too. Great service! The place is small and most people get carry out. Trust me, it's worth it!

Nicholas B.

Yelp
Outstanding food! Family friendly and will be returing everytime in town! Fresh and yummy.
google avatar

O'Neill K.

Yelp
TAKE OUT OR DELIVERY ONLY. Seems they stopped dine-in during Covid, and just haven't gone back.
google avatar

Shelly B.

Yelp
Small hole in the wall place but excellent food and gives a "Soup Nazi" type experience but she has every right to, cannot find Thai food of this caliper anywhere else in Abilene .
google avatar

L Robert T.

Yelp
Quirky little Thai place. Food was good and plenty spicy at a very reasonable price. Place is very small, seating for only about 12-16 people at a time.
google avatar

Charles B.

Yelp
What a restaurant! A true gem Get yourself some spicy sesame chicken and Tom kha soup

Sarilly V.

Yelp
Food is amazing. The owner is an awesome lady to talk to. Probably better as a take out spot as seating is pretty limited. The only negative would be some portion sizes on some dishes.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
Wow! Great all around dining experience. I was surprised to find that they were offering take-out only. We ordered and sat down. We had a great conversation with the owner about his hometown in North Eastern Thailand. He was excited to tell us about the Elephants his family owns. The Thai people are wonderful, kind, and excited to share their culture with all of us. To make it even better, the food was grade A. everyone in our group enjoyed their dishes. I had pad se ew. It wasn't quite the same as I am used to in terms of texture and moisture. But the flavor was good and the beef was cooked well. my fellow travelers had a ginger chicken dish over rice and the pad Thai with tofu. They looked great and they both said they enjoyed them. not at all surprised this place gets perfect 5-stars. Even in the middle of central Texas, I think everyone would enjoy eating here, even if they are timid or picky eaters.

Eddy A.

Yelp
The service and food are the best. Super authentic Thai restaurant. Would recommend the teriyaki chicken and Thai tea!
google avatar

Cara H.

Yelp
Great Thai food, reasonable prices, and good portion sizes. Wait is a little long sometimes for to go, but totally worth it.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
What is not to like about this place?!? Everything from start to finish. T always remembers you and your order and she is so personalable. Not to mention the food is always spot on. You can't go wrong with anything you order. Getting the spring rolls is a must!

Tracy B.

Yelp
Best. Food. EVER. The Sesame Chicken is the best in the world. And every curry is outstanding. It's addictive
google avatar

Kelsey D.

Yelp
Sesame chicken was good, pad Thai was ok- not the best I've ever had. Portions were good!
google avatar

Kelsey L.

Yelp
There are no words, this is one of my most favorite restaurants. I have never disliked a dish and I think at this point I've tried them all! Also, the owner and staff are just, awesome.

Lee B.

Yelp
The food was really good and they had tofu options for pretty much ever menu item. The Penang curry was one of the best I have had.
google avatar

Jon S.

Yelp
We've spent a while looking for good Thai food here. Turns out this little place was under our nose the whole time. Their food is fantastic and I really loved the pad Thai and yellow curry. The Chinese sweet and sour chicken is really good as well and definitely more on the sweet side. Just a side note, even their mild (heat level 1) is pretty potent, so be careful.
google avatar

Casey D.

Yelp
Great food, really great service. Even on an exceptionally icy day! The owner was in, and chatted with us. Had Thai curry. It was great!
google avatar

Helayna W.

Yelp
Every time I come in they have awesome food and friendly service no matter how busy they are. I will let you know they are only take out right now due to COVID, so call ahead!
