S16 Home

To all who appreciate beauty and excellent service, A few months ago I walked by S16 and saw in their meticulously merchandised windows (as they always are) a beautiful antique cabinet. I had for about 2 weeks, whenever walking by the store, checked to see if it was still there then on the last walk by, it was no longer in the window. I went to S16 online and saw that it was still available to purchase. As the website offered to do, I made an offer for what I thought was a respectful discount. Very quickly after sending my email/offer, Brian replied. Brian noted that the store was in Sale mode with most items reduced by 20%. He offered to meet me in the middle of my offer and the store's current discount which I felt was acceptable. We made an appointment within the week, Brian accommodating my schedule constraints, for me to actually see the cabinet in person as I had only been able to admire the piece from the window. Upon arriving to the store I had the opportunity to meet Luke, partner at S16. Both Brian and Luke were very welcoming. There in the middle of the store sat the cabinet to be wondered. It was more beautiful in person and clearly cared for by Brian and Luke. They gave me what history they knew on the piece. I explained my want of it over the weeks prior and how I planned to use it unconventional of its original purpose. They shared joy in my creativity then also suggested another creative way to use the cabinet by removing some shelves, a brilliant idea! I asked to have a few hours to step away before committing to purchase it. Brian and Luke again were gracious to hold it. Only a few hours later I contacted Brian to say I would be purchasing it. It was so easy to go S16 online to securely complete my purchase. Brian and I made another appointment for my husband and me to pick up the cabinet. A few days later upon arrival to the store, I discovered Brian and Luke had removed the shelves and placed them in large plastic bins for transport and cellophane wrapped the cabinet for protection. My husband and I had expected to remove the cabinet and shelves from the store but instead Brian and Luke loaded it into our wagon. This was an unexpected service much appreciated. We are enjoying our cabinet and can't thank Brian and Luke enough for being so accommodating, providing the highest level of service, and curating beautiful objects for all of us to enjoy and cherish. S16 is my go-to store and experience for home decor. The selection is impeccably curated. And the service is exquisite. There's no place quite like it in the country. I used to live a block away, and my SF apartment was built around S16. I now live in NYC, and still look to S16 to build my aesthetic. Shipping is easy, and the remote service is just as personal as the in-store experience. I'll be working with Brian and S16 for years to come. I purchased a number of shoe stays and vintage printing blocks. I was pleasantly surprised that the products I received were literally identical to the pictures posted online. The items were nicely packaged, and were shipped immediately. Excellent customer service. Delighted!

I've been consigning with Brian and Luke since they opened several years back, and they're incredibly awesome to work with! They're experts in so many areas, have great contacts in the design and film industry, and make my life so much easier than it would be if I had to photograph and then market my own products. The work they perform on my behalf is worth every penny of the commissions they earn from my sales. Not only do I make much more money than I could on my own, but it's fun to have an excuse to stop in regularly and see the other amazing finds in their shop. A true destination shopping experience!

We LOVE our dresser purchased from S16 and are so pleased to have purchased this heirloom piece to commemorate our 7th wedding anniversary. The piece arrived in fantastic condition, clean and oiled. We have been consigning with S16 Home for the past 6 years. Aside from being a pleasure to deal with, Brian makes certain that he has all items appraised by an auction house to make sure that the price assigned to the item is accurate. He asks for and posts meticulous descriptions of each piece, so the buyer knows exactly what is being purchased. In addition, he is quite selective about the pieces he is willing to consign. He only takes those items that he feels he can sell and that work well within the context of his own pieces. The store itself is a delight. Brian has immaculate taste and the arrangement of his own items with those consigned mix seamlessly. A visit to the store, which is constantly evolving, is always a treat!

What an amazing store! I found a bar stool online that I really wanted, which was the first time I had heard of S16. After a couple of emails I bought the item and went to pick it up a couple of days later. The email experience was excellent, and since it's the way so many of us conduct business now, it left at outstanding first impression. When I arrived at the store I was absolutely in awe at the merchandise. The store is incredibly tiny, but that doesn't stop it from having great things, yet still have plenty of room to move about. Everything in the store, and I mean EVERYTHING, works together in an amazing way. It's very well curated, and there was so much I wanted to just buy and bring home. Another great side note, while the store doesn't stock or sell "cheap" things, the prices are very reasonable for the high-end, ultra-quality items they sell. I'll be keeping my eye on this place and will most certainly pick up more things in the future.

The proprietors have an incredible design sense and it shows in what they have on offer. It's a hidden gem, and a real treat to explore. There isn't a lot in the store but it's beautifully curated. Highly recommended for anyone whose home is their haven and in need of something a little special.

A fascinating collection of home decor options. It is curated well with top notch antiques. The items for sale were rich with history and displayed properly. There was nothing that I *had* to take home with me, but it was nice to visit, almost like a museum. I will return next time I'm in SF.

This is probably one of the most interesting design stores in the city. I live nearby and stop in often to either buy or consign. The owner Brian has the rare quality of being able to welcome you as if you had an appointment and were an old friend. Spacious displays effectively display the wares. Brian has an unerring eye and superb taste. The inventory covers found object, repurposed industrial elements and "tasty" art. This is what you would expect in the best stores. A purchase here ,of a treasure. will leave you with the sense that beauty and joy that can last forever.

Brian has an incredible taste and an amazing selection of unique items. I have also asked him to find very specific objects for me and he has done it really well. You must stop by this gem in the Castro.

I absolutely LOVE this shop! I happened upon it by mistake one day and I feel like I discovered a treasure. The shop is beautifully designed to showcase an eclectic mix of furnishings and art that range from vintage to modern, that all work seamlessly together. I was immediately inspired by several items in the store and Brian, the owner, could not be nicer. It's obvious he has a passion for design which is evident in the way he enthusiastically talks about the individual pieces. Whether your taste is vintage or modern this store has something for you.

I love this place. Brian is always there to welcome us (me and my dog). We stop in often. I've purchased about 6 items here over the past year. Each item is unique and rare. They turn out to be a nice addition to our home and adds to our eclectic collection of beautiful pieces. I shop here for quality and uniqueness. Some of the cool items go fast so you have to stop in often to keep on top of the cool inventory.

OMG! Castro has needed a place like this and now its got it! One-of-a-kind decor accessories and eclectic furniture pieces that are to die for. It's amazing the variety that this cozy shop offers.
