Where to Eat Korean Food in Tacoma’s Lakewood K-Town | Eater

"A soup-focused restaurant praised for an ultra-rich sullungtang—a milky-white ox-bone noodle soup topped with green onions, thick-cut brisket and chewy wheat noodles that diners season at the table—and for a throat-bracing yukgaejang, a spicy ox-bone soup with shredded beef and white radish; the sullungtang is complemented by table condiments (salt, black and red pepper, green onions) and a vinegary soy dipping sauce specifically for the brisket." - Samantha Bakall

I came to Fort Lee and had myself a day. I visited this place for lunch and it was delicious. I got the Spicy Pork Rib Soup and it was flavorful and so filling. It came with three sides and a bowl of rice. The kimchi sides were all so refreshing.

Google
Really yummy and amazing for the value and quantity. Loved how crispy and juicy the mackerel was, definitely fresh! The gamjatang was hearty, where the meat fell off the bone, quite spicy though. Sul lang tang was even more incredible, where the broth was rich but not heavy, where I loved how much variety of the meat they put, even adding the beef collagen which was chewy and flavorful. Oh and the abundance and variety of kimchi being served is so appreciated, balancing everything together. In terms of the service, they were super sweet, giving us recommendations and making us feeling welcomed among the locals there!

I love this place especially 수육 is the best. But i dont recommend pork kimchi jjigae.... i dont know.. too many tofu, kimchi tastes very weak and pork slice is tiny. But 수육 is the best here. I really recommend it.

Sa Rit Gol is a traditional Korean restaurant in Fort Lee, specializing in soups and comfort food. We traveled all the way from NYC after hearing about this place and we absolutely loved it! We walked in with a party of five without reservation and was seated quickly, but I heard that towards dinner it starts to get very crowded. We ordered the spicy rib soup, haejang ramen, and bibimbap. The portions were huge and the side dishes were very generous, I think you could probably feed 2-3 with a soup, side dishes, and some rice. The soup was definitely the highlight for me, it was so incredibly rich with pork bone and featured the perfect amount of spice. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ramen and bibimbap, but only because the soup was just that great! I would definitely visit again just to have some more of the soup and I highly recommend checking this place out!

Very flavourful and light. We love coming here. The menu is quite limited so if you don’t like their signature soup, then there are not that many options. The soup is HOT so be careful. Service is fast and no complains. Follow me for more food adventures on instagram at @maggielicious.to

Google
It’s a casual k-restaurant. I have been here twice in the last two weeks, and food tastes consistently good. Food: Cha Dol Sul Lung Tang & Combo of Do Ga Ni Tang w/ Grilled Mackerel - 5/5 Service: it’s a casual place, so don’t expect much. Still prompt - 4/5 Atmosphere: this cannot be ur first date place. Some boxes and containers are all over the restaurant, but food is good - 3/5 This will be my go to place for Ox bone soup in NJ.

It’s been so long since pandemic. Fort Lee has been changed a lot, i mean good changes. Streets are quite clean and nicer. This restaurant is good for price and food quality. Our family were really satisfied. Although there was MSG taste a little , overall taste was good and great amount of meat inside!!

Google
Perfect spot for a homey/soupy meal after a long day of snowboarding! My group ordered 3 different soups and the boiled pork. I got the Do Ga Ni Tang, which was really flavorful and had a generous amount of meat. My group also really enjoyed their soups, it definitely hit the spot! A bunch of other tables around us got the steamed pork feet, which I would love to come back and try.

Yelp
Friendly service, cozy food, good prices!! Literally what more can you ask for, Sa Rit Gol has great Sul Lung Tang as well as many shareable items for the table. If you are ever in Fort Lee, this is the perfect place to warm up during the winter or rain!

Yelp
Sa Rit Gol is one of the many tasty Korean spots in Fort Lee! We came here for Sun-Dae but turned out it already sold out for the day (but that's okay that means I get to come back again lol) The waiters are attentive and from the interior it looks like the restaurant definitely has been there for awhile! Food: 5/5 - we ordered the combo with Sul Lung Tang and Grilled Mackerel. Their soup came unflavored so you are expected to season it yourself with salt & pepper that's on the table. - the mackerel was cooked really well - it was still juicy and that portion size is quite large :) - we also order the steamed pork feet! It was so soft and tasty - I feel like I definitely got the collagen boost from this meal :D Overall, Sa Rit Gol is definitely the spot to go if you are looking for good Korean food in the area. I'll be sure to come back and get my sun-dae next time hehe

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We have added this restaurant to our regular restaurants list because of the quality of the food. A very clean and delicious place to visit for a healthy dinner. Most of the dishes contain beef or pork. My go to is their grilled fish. Everything is packed with flavor and being able to have a hot tea with dinner is the best. I do not believe they have dessert on their menu. They are also BYOB. *Be warned, whatever jacket you wear will smell like the delicious food for a couple of days*

Yelp
This place is AMAZING, let me say again: AMAZING. Easy ordering recommendation: Order the most popular dishes in the house: Blood sausage, pork feet, grilled mackerel, soup and other. The popular dishes are usually shown in the wall, in spite of how they look, you should order them because they are all DELISH. I've tried them all and they did NOT disappoint. I'd greatly recommend this place and its dishes. A con of this place i'd say is the parking: street parking and a bit limited in Fort Lee. Other than that, everything is awesome : )
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Sa Rit Gol is a traditional Korean restaurant and you can expect any dish you get here to be really good. I personally LOVE their soups here especially the soondae gukbap. This place is perfect if you're hungover as they have the perfect soups and broths that will wake you up! The kimchi and banchan here were so good also. The restaurant is a bit tight and small and parking is hard because it's Fort Lee but it's worth trying to make the trek down because the broth will really "wow" you.
google avatar

Danni F.

Yelp
Came to Sa Rit Gol on a random weekday for lunch without a reservation and was seated immediately. Heard a lot of great things about this restaurant and it was my first time here and it did not disappoint! The restaurant was pretty cozy, smaller than I expected but clean and organized. The servers were helpful and very efficient. I got the chicken potato stew, as recommended by the server. I did not have high expectations for chicken but honestly it was so good! The stew was full of flavor, the chicken was tender, and the potatoes were so well cooked. I also got the mackerel and could not believe how good the price was for an almost full mackerel, which was of course also delicious. There were so many other things worth trying on the menu and I will definitely be going back!

Yelp
Soondae (Korean blood sausage) is one of my favorites so I had to get it as my first meal in Jersey. It was slightly less chewy than I remember, but still had that flavor that I was craving and went really well with their spiced salt! The gamjatang (pork bone stew) is definitely a must here as well, and it comes with huge chunks of meat on the bone. It takes some finesse to get all the meat off the bone but once it's done, you can enjoy the meat in the spicy stew, alongside veggies like cabbage and scallions. The hangover ramen was also a good choice, with slices of meat and intestine, which elevated the ramen to the next level. Their assorted kimchi is really good, and they also had marinated raw squid, which is one of my favorite banchan! It can get crowded during peak times during the evening so I recommend going earlier in the day if you can. Service is just okay since they do get busy so they aren't as attentive. Parking can also be tricky since street parking or limited spots in the lots are available as first come first serve.

Yelp
A must-stop Korean fair for some of the best pork and Sundae. We came to Sa Rit Gol after a long upstate hike and were prepared to try nearly half the menu across our group. We had most of the Korean staples such as boiled pork, Sundae, spicy kalguksu, bulgogi, and galbi. Most main dishes came with a large portion of mackerel too to make sure we didn't leave hungry. Each dish was amazing--nothing was too savory or salty as can be the case with many Korean places across NYC. We found the sauces with the boiled pork to be one of the best, and the Sundae pleasant to even those who typically don't like it! Everything is priced really well for Fort Lee too, much better than typical midtown Ktown prices. The only issue is trying to get a table during the busy dinner hour or on the weekend. Its a popular stopover point for those coming back into the city from a long day/weekend trip.

Yelp
Great food, good service, generous portions. Will be back. We loved the mackerel, spicy pork soup and the bulgogi and all the accompaniments.

Yelp
Came in for dinner and chose the following selections: Sun Dae (Pork Blood Sausage), Su Yook (Boiles Pork), Beef Sul Lung Tang and Go Deung U Gul. Just a great meal that we enjoyed so much. Full belly and happy patrons!

Yelp
Hands down best Korean food I've ever had. The flavors were so comforting and it was perfect after an upstate trip. The sides were fresh and paired so well with the soups. The service was professional and attentive. I would come back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
It was a really cold night that's perfect for soup. We decided to visit Sa Rit Gol for to the high record of their stews. We walked in and it's a simple place with white walls and picture menu on the wall. We were immediately seated since it was start of dinner time. The menu is on the table as placemat. Very quickly the server brought tea and banchans (side dishes) to the table. The waiter came to take our orders. We decided ox bone soup with brisket & spicy pork bone soup. Both came quickly in boiling clay pots. The first taste of broth will tell you that it's been simmered for hours. The meat melts in your mouth and the flavor of the soup is with depth and spices. It is heart warming and highly recommended. Would definitely go back and try other items!!

Yelp
Outstanding atmosphere and value for those looking for Korean food in Ft. Lee! Unpretentious and filled before noon, customers are served their heaping plates and just drinking water. I had the Pork Rib Soup with potatoes which was massive and spicy! Bring cash to avoid a surcharge, which is the only strike against.

Yelp
This place is delish like a mosh posh of yummy porkbone soup and other stuff. I wanted to try the pig feet but the dish is big good for group. Heartwarming food perfect for a chill eating and drinking with friends.

Yelp
A small restaurant that gets busy - a few different dishes focused on the ox bone soups, and the specialty of the pork feet. Small banchan of three types - spicy nappa kimchee, spicy green daikon, and spicy sweet cubes of daikon. They were ok, all spicy, though. Ox bone soup w/ sliced beef brisket (cha dol sul lung tang) was good; a lot of scallions and rice broth. Pretty solid. The grilled spicy pork was good - spicy, but delicious mix of spicy and sweet heat. Hot bowl, though. The steamed pork feet came on an unstable holder (almost fell off and burnt a few since the pork feet sticks to the pan). Overall the dish was good, but a little on the bland side. Sauces are needed to enjoy it properly. Also they were out of bi bim bap. No idea how that happens when the restaurant has so few items on the menu. So I'll put it as could've been better - because it could have been. Service was absent most of the meal. We were sitting in a side alcove which fit 7 of us, but they constantly didn't check in on us for tea, water, or anything. Service I had to go get from the guys just standing there more than three times, and that's just poor service for us.
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
Service has a bit of a wait time but it's definitely worth it not just for the price but the taste as well! Generous with the meat pieces that doesnt break the bank. Expect wait times on rush hours (we went past lunch and there's still a line waiting). Staff are respectful and attentive. Would definitely be coming back!

Yelp
If you're looking for a casual place to satisfy a Korean soup craving, this is the one! There are a bunch of soupy options on the menu to choose from as well as other traditional meat dishes. For 3 of us, we each ordered a soup and the boiled pork dish to share. The soups came out of the kitchen bubbling hot with a side of rice, the food was overall tasty and the banchan was spicy. It was definitely a cozy meal for a cold winter night. We came in around 8pm and they let us know the kitchen was closing soon (I think around 8:30) but the service was still quick and efficient. They were out of a few items at that time (including the gam ja tang that I was eying), but I'll just have to come back to try! Tip: You mostly have to park on the street to eat here unless Bank of America is closed, then you can park there.

Yelp
Had the Grilled Spicy Pork. Arrived, sizzling hot and smelled wonderful, tasted even better. Nice caramelization from the hot plate. Served with a bowl of rice and 3 Ban Chan: cabbage kimchi, turnip kimchi, and another that tasted like shredded turnip and raw squid (tasted good). Had wanted the Bibim Bap; unfortunately, they don't have it that evening.

Yelp
After an early flight to Newark on Thanksgiving, I was starving and craving for some good Korean food! Thankful for Sa Rit Gol for staying opened on the holidays for people to enjoy their delicious food! I came during lunch hours and it was packed but with the quick turnaround, the wait for a table was not too bad! I got the ox bone soup with sliced beef. It was super delicious and the perfect comfort food on a chilly day. The beef slices were cooked perfectly. You can flavor the soup with salt and pepper to your taste. You can peek in the kitchen where they have a huge cauldron where they prepare the ox tail broth daily with amazing ingredients. The side dishes also paired well with the soups. The trick is to add some of the pickled radish and the sauce into the soup for extra flavor and kick. This was a delicious and satisfying meal to kick off a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I will definitely come back to this place often!

Yelp
We were served right away. Food came out fast. The mackerel was so good we ordered another one before we finished our first order. We finished the second mackerel and everyone had their own soup/meal. Would recommend.

Yelp
The best gukbap restaurant in NJ! My fam comes all the way from Philly to eat here. Their soondae is also the best I've had so far. We always order dweji gukbap and soondae gukbap. The food also comes out quickly and the servers are always friendly. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
i kid you not this is the best place to eat in all of nj. the food: gamja tang (spicy potato meat stew), sooyook (boiled pork with scallions on the side), and soondae (blood sausage). everything is divine like truly touched by the MAGIC bc it tastes so good. the boiled pork was my favorite by far with the delicious side scallions. the space: decently big but it fills up fast the service: quick and attentive
google avatar

Yelp
Had to come by after hearing such high praise from friends about Sa Rit Gol - definitely left more than satisfied! Hot, savory stews that are served so promptly - with three delicious kimchi, what more can you ask for?!!
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
A fantastic spot that really hit my craving for some Korean soup. The complementary kimchi banchan (3 different kinds!) were tasty and differing in texture and flavors. The soup came sizzling hot and is HUGE in size. I came for lunch with a friend and couldn't finish it. Luckily, they offer to go cartons to take your leftover soups home. It was pretty much 2 meals for $17... pretty hard to beat! Service was great - the staff were quick and attentive. Decor is what you'd expect from a no thrills spot too - pictures of the top dishes were plastered over the walls with their names (which I really appreciated!) and menus were pre-placed at each seat (paper menus). I highly recommend and would definitely come back
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
This is a great casual spot that seems to specialize in soups. I got the gam ja tang and it hit the spot. Lots of flavorful meat that left me stuffed. So glad I found this place , will definitely be back.
google avatar

Joanne H.

Yelp
Service is ok. But they are very busy most of the time which I do not mind. You might need to wait for a table on the weekend. Parking is annoying because it's side street parking. There's a plaza right next to it however your car will get towed! So beware! All the tang is so flavorful!

E J.

Yelp
Very solid Korean staple place. Our dining experience was more on the stews and they were very good. One of us had the beef bone broth stew and the other the pork with blood sausage stew. The broth was rich but light enough that it gives space for one to add more salt or pepper. The ingredients were not skimpy so the overall dish was very satisfying. Will be back to try other dishes but on a first try it's nice option for traditional Korean fare. We dined at lunch on a weekday and arrived a bit earlier than the crowds. Servers were very friendly. There was a sign that advised street parking as the large (free) lot behind was more for the mall stores.
google avatar

Austin K.

Yelp
The Sul lung tang was good but the flank meat was dry like it is at most places. The knee meat is good but you have to like cartilage. They ran out of chadol and I'd be curious to try that. The sundae was good but it was missing the 부추 무침 that comes in the 모듬. I'd ask if they can provide it next time.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Wow. Amazing Korean food in the Fort Lee area. I would come here every day if I lived here. The Dweji Gook Bap (pork, rice, soup) was out of this world. With the 3 types of kimchi, great service, was amazed. I recommend the Pork Guk Bap for sure. Put some of the shrimp sauce in there, pepper, hot sauce, and enjoy. Everything is good there. We had the Gamjatang which was solid, and also ordered the Kimchi Jigae and special Yulmoo Bap. They were both good but I'd highly recommend eating in. Enjoy!
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
I was craving gamjatang and heard this was a good place to try and was a little disappointed. There was alot of pork which was good but not as spicy adn hot as I like it. I really liked their combo which comes with sul lung tang and grilled mackerel which they serve with a dipping sauce was my favorite here. The seafood soondubu was pretty good but nothing special. For banchan, they only give you napa kimchee and daikon kimchee so wish there were more side dishes.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
To be honest, when I first came to Sa Rit Gol, I thought it was okay but after coming multiple times and trying different dishes, I absolutely love it! I've never come by without it being packed but usually I get seated within 15 min. Food wise - My favorite dish is the soondae but sometimes on a Friday night (6:30-7pmish) they've run out of it so keep that in mind if you'd like to try it. I also really like their seolleongtang! My boyfriend loves their dakdoritang. In terms of service, I'd suggest avoiding Friday nights during peak hours. Service is the no frills type which I'm totally okay with but sometimes on Friday nights it feels a little hectic and I've seen little mixups like orders going to the wrong table.
google avatar

Rina H.

Yelp
There were a few restaurants nearby that I wanted to try out and this was where I came at the end. Be warned, you will need to find your own parking by meter parking. If you try to park in the large parking lot where the other restaurants and establishments are, you risk getting your car towed. This restaurant is super casual and a no frills type of place. Some menu items are on the back wall of the restaurant. I wanted to order the assorted Sun Dae but they said it was available after 5PM. They did let me know that the soup version was available when I came in so I ordered that. My mom ordered the Gamja Tang and my sister ordered the Special Combo (Mo Deum Sul Lung Tang & Go Deung Uh Gui). My soup was delicious. My craving was satisfied and there was plenty of Sundae in there. I was able to try my sister's dish and unfortunately, this is where it fell short. The mackerel was extremely overcooked and that resulted in the fish being very dry. Her soup lacked flavor to the point that salt couldn't even fix it. My mom's Gamja Tang was good, although she did complain about it lacking perilla seeds, which is an important ingredient that Gamja Tang should have. Overall, despite the complaints, I would come back in the future. I would just avoid what my sister and mom ordered. I did hear that the DakdorI Jongol was delicious from a relative. Looks like that is what I will be trying out the next time I visit.

Yelp
We saw this place had good ratings and decided to give it a try. My husband wanted the gamjatang but they were sold out so he went with the pork kimchi jigae. I had soondae & my kids got the grilled mackerel + sullungtang combo. I would recommend bringing a light jacket as it's pretty cold inside. They also allow parking across the street at bank of americas lot. Our experience: The side dishes was 3 different kimchi varieties- all on the very fermented side. My favorite was the thin radish kimchi- as it was more flavorful & had different sauce than the radish cubes & kimchi. The soondae was horrible. It tasted so stale and lacked flavors. I couldn't finish it because it tasted so stale and old. I can tell it was not fresh. Even the frozen ones from hmart taste better.. The pork kimchi jigae was okay. It was on the tart side. A bit different from what we've had before. It only had one piece of meat about the size of a pointer finger. It should be renamed to just kimchi jigae. Having pork on the name gives off the impression that it would be pork dominant dish. The sullungtang was good. No complaints here! This one had plenty of noodles and meat. The mackerel was the best. It tasted so good and that's what everyone at the table went for. The service was good too no complaints there.

Yelp
Love this place. So yummy Korean food. I define will come back again and this time bring my lovely kids with me!

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant in fort Lee! Never had a bad meal from here. The service is quick and attentive, often refilling our waters and quick turnaround time. It's not a place where you should go for an anniversary dinner but if i lived in jersey, I would go there at least once a week. It's soooo good and the service is friendly, even if they were rude I would come back !!! Usually we get the gamja tang and Sul Lung Tang but this time we opted to try something new! The soup is always flavorful and spicy (honestly too spicy , I am weak)! The soybean and intestine soup was so umami and delicious. Lord of veggies surprisingly! Ban Chan is so spicy and fresh!!! Mandoo tasted freshly made and soho was nice and light. Usually we get the sundae and boiled pork but it was sold out (cus it's soooo fire).
google avatar

Taylor Z.

Yelp
Bomb bomb bomb soup. Portion size super fat. The banchan was homemade but not too many options there.
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
The gamjatang and the mackerel were superb! I've been wanting to visit for a while, but haven't the chance! Service is as expected and the food was worth the trip from Manhattan. Space inside is small, but it moves pretty quickly. The staff is friendly and you won't regret making a trip to Sa Rit Gol!

Tyler K.

Yelp
Food okay, bad for local groceries suppliers. Jokbal still has bad smell, seul lung tang pretty good, rest is just okay, not worth the price
google avatar

Christina W.

Yelp
They're open! Love love this place. Does anyone know why they closed! I really hope it wasn't a health code violation...the place is not the cleanest haha. It's kinda like a dive but you know it's authentic comfort/after drinking food because of all the ajushis and ajummas who are eating here.
google avatar

ChingWa C.

Yelp
I don't remember what I ordered but the soup was amazing and hearty. Every one ordered the boiled pork or the pig feet, which I really wanted but they look so heavy and it's just me and my partner, so I didn't want to clog my arteries. The prices are 30% cheaper than Manhattan K town, and they taste better. Love this place!
google avatar

Vicky Z.

Yelp
Overall: A traditional Korean eatery known for their delicious stews at very reasonable prices! Yang Ji Sul Lang Tang: 6/5; this is the best I've ever had. The broth is so rich yet clean. They also do not skimp on the beef!!!!!! (There were straight up like 20 or so pieces); the Cha Dol Sul Lang Tang, which is what I originally wanted, ran out the day I went but the Yang Ji didn't disappoint at all! Banchan: 4/5; gave 4 rather large servings of banchan for our table of 4 people and included typical radish/kimchi stuff. Was good but didn't blow me away. Service: 5/5; very nice, refilled our tea constantly and food came out promptly. We also had a (very well behaved) dog with us and the host gave us our own more secluded corner/space
google avatar

Gloria X.

Yelp
This place was packed. Super duper popular. The host/single server was this older Korean uncle looking guy who was speaking Spanish to the kitchen guys! I was very impressed. They treated me well as a solo diner! A bit of a wait but they didn't prioritize bigger parties over me which I greatly appreciated. They give 3 fairly large banchan of various types of kimchi which were bubbly and deliciously fermented. I had the soellungtang and mackerel combo - both very tasty. Worth every penny. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Delicious place for a piping hot bowl of ox bone soup and some deicious main plates. I love the casual feel to this place. Its also got a simple menu, so you know everything they make is well done.

Yelp
Sa Rit Gol is a very unassuming place with tasty food that opens late[r than most]. We all know that such places are close to the heart, and this place is no exception. Here are a few highlights: 1) Dakdoritang This was easily my favorite: if you are naturally drawn to anything "spicy" and "chicken" on any menu, this is the way to go. Along with chicken, there are also potatoes and vegetables that also soak in all the flavor of that spicy soup; so there is no such thing as a bad bite. Before you dig in, make a makeshift bib with a napkin or throw on a hoodie/jacket that you care way less about than that nice shirt you're wearing; thank me later. 2) Seollungtang While it's super simple compared to most dishes, you can't go wrong with a tried and true pillar of Korean soul food. "Soup" is almost a misnomer because the soup has been made so rich in flavor and texture by the beef and bones swimming inside. Typically, it may be served bland, but all you have to do is throw in the amount of salt and/or additional sliced scallions as desired. 3) Soondae If you must, Google this, ignore the [negative] words that you've read, and then order it anyway! The outside is packed with that fatty flavor that's been unleashed in the fry, and that fried flavor is balanced by the gelatinous textures of the rice and glass noodles inside. 5 stars!!

Yelp
Korean restaurant specialize in stews at Fort Lee, NJ The spicy pork bone stew, gamjatang was very filling with a lots of pork ribs, it would have tasted better if potatoes were boiled little more. The dumpling and rice cake soup tasted good in ox bone soup. I loved their radish kimchi! The restaurant is small and there is only one server. We had to ask bus boys for additional napkins and kimchi but the food was very good.
google avatar

Jae P.

Yelp
Sa Rit Gol offers so many authentic Korean soups & stews. I got the gamjatang and it was flavorful, big portions, and the meat was tender + fell off the bone easily. While I wish the side dishes weren't all spicy and there was more variety, the three sides were flavorful and fresh. Service was fast and friendly as well. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
4.5 We typically get the soulangtang, soondubu, and su yook, which are always amazing. The oxtail broth is nothing but perfect. I've tried some of the other dishes and they're hit or miss, depending on the day. Eg bulgogi can be a little sweet; mackerel is sometimes overcooked, but nothing terrible. Soups are definitely their speciality! They don't take reservations and it's street parking. But you can park in the lot with cafe bene and walk across the street!
