The food we ordered for takeout - Drunken Noodles was authentic and very tasty. The green curry was good. For a place in a shopping mall and not much decoration, I’m very glad the owner focus on the food quality before the other elements. It is tasty food with good value. The front desk lady was also very kind and helpful. Will definitely come again for your food.

Best Asian food i ever had in my life! Everything is good! I ate here for a week straight and the quality of this food been the same since i been coming there! Chinese food? Don't get me wrong some places are good, But this spot is number 1. And the prices are fair!

The place is clean and open, nice place for a meal. The waitress was friendly and nice. She was attentive to her tables. We ordered the Satay Chicken as appetizers. Chicken was tender, not fry ar all. The Satay sauce was more sweet and sour than satay though. I ordered the drunken noodles with beef. The dish doesn't look too appealing but it tasted good. The noodles were too soft so they were too broken up and the beef were killed three times over. My wife ordered the Pumpkin red curry with grilled chicken. The curry was good but the chicken was a little dry but still not bad at all. Portion was big and price was reasonable. I'd recommend it.

I had the absolute pleasure of eating at Saap Lao yesterday with a friend. We had the most amazing waitress - Nicole. We came in at the start of the lunch rush and let me tell you something- Nicole is amazing. I can't even tell you how many hats she had to wear all by herself throughout the time we were there. It must have been so frustrating to be the only person bussing, waiting, running food, cleaning, making drinks, cashing people out, etc. And let me tell you something else- she did it all with such grace and competence. She was busy- SO BUSY- but made the time to check in on my friend and me. If you're willing to be patient, you'll walk away with a full stomach of DELICIOUS food and a happy heart because you met Nicole. Management, if you're reading this, please give Nicole a raise and promotion. She's absolutely phenomenal!

Google
Our lunch experience at Saap Lao Thai was a major letdown, mainly due to the service. We were a group of 8, and unfortunately, Nicole—who appeared to be the only waitress working—handled our table with an attitude that bordered on outright rude. When we politely asked for cutlery (a basic expectation), she responded with, “I’ve got two hands, not eight.” That level of sarcasm was uncalled for and completely unprofessional. We understand being busy, but there’s no excuse for treating customers like they’re a burden. A simple, respectful response would have gone a long way. As for the food—it was just average. Nothing stood out to make up for the unpleasant service. Dining out is about more than just the food; it’s about the experience. And Nicole made sure ours was uncomfortable and unwelcome from start to finish. Sadly, we won’t be returning. I hope the management takes a hard look at how customer service is being handled.

I can’t say enough good things about the food at Saap. This place has only been open two weeks and I’ve been twice already. As a family these are some of the things we have tried so far. Chef Lisa’s Famous drunken noodles have been my favorite thing thus far! If you like a nice spice then I definitely recommend. I want to try other things next so I’m going to have to force myself not to order it again. Despite what was mentioned, the old restaurant was not this good. Give this new restaurant a chance before bashing it, there are not enough southeast Asian places in the area so I’m hoping Saap is here to stay! If you have a sweet tooth definitely try the fried banana rolls with ice cream!

Google
Update: We can not get enough of this place. Second visit and the food is still out of this world. They are also Vegetarian friendly. The waitress Lynn was kind, friendly and patient. Super sweet person. My hat goes off to Chef Lisa. 3/9/2022 Hands-down one of the best Thai restaurants my family and I have been to—friendly staff and outstanding food. The chief uses fresh herbs and chilis, which enhances the flavors of the food. We will most definitely be back.

Google
The newly installed bar gives this restaurant a really nice vibe. As soon as I entered I was greeted by a friendly face which is nice. I've been to many other restaurants and the first face you see isn't always friendly or welcoming. Our server was very polite as well. My brother and I ordered the fried calamari and shrimp in a blanket as appetizers. They were both amazing but I must say the shrimp were heavenly. Great way to give a dish your own spin on it. I had the honey fried duck while my brother had some pad Thai. We really were impressed with all of food both quality and also quantity. Definitely will be back for more. Highly reccomended.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised. The papaya salad was delightfully spicy. The pad Thai and the pad see yew was also nicely spicy. Service was good even though the waitress was managing the bar, the dining room and takeout.

Yelp
In the last two weeks I have dined in for lunch and ordered take out. Both experiences were great. The service was good. On both instances there was only one server managing the hostess stand, the take out orders, and the guests that were dining in. She made her expectations clear and still provided excellent service. The food was great. As a first time diner, I didn't know the menu too well. I was educated on the spice levels and the menu, and loved everything that I ordered. I had the tom yum chicken soup (1), fried rice (0) and three sauce chicken (3) and all was delicious.

Yelp
I'm feeling very soupy these days! I ordered Tom Ka Gai chicken and straw mushroom soup! Crispy Thai wings for hubby. Drunken noodles and Fried calamari. Friendly environment. Order taken expeditiously. Ambiance seems inviting for dine in but I'm on my way home now. My first visit here. Kitchen is lively. I hope they're paying attention to my food. My soup was delicious. I'm sad I ordered the small. I'll be back this week to get a large one 5 tasty!

Yelp
I was looking for somewhere good to eat and i found this place. I'm always ready for some good Thai food. I've tried Thai food in different cities. Some were good. Some, not so much. This place is in a strip mall that looks deserted. Don't let that stop you. I was seated immediately. The place was not busy on a Monday night. The young lady that greeted me at the door was really nice. I asked her for recommendations. And she was very helpful. I ordered some spicy soup. Spicy level 3. (Level 1-5). I then ordered the spicy Thai rice with chicken. Also level 3. The soup came out and it looked good. Nice color. Smelled good. First sip, boy, it was hot and spicy. I guess that's why they call it spicy soup. I got the order of rice. It also looked good. I started eating, and it was better than expected. Really good flavor. It was a lot of food. Enough for two, easy. I put a food sent into the whole meal, but I couldn't finish it all. I was here on business, so I couldn't take it with me, but I wanted to. Everything had really good flavor. I will definitely be coming back here. If you like Thai food, or if you've never had it, this is a great place to go to.

Yelp
Great service! The food was good and plentiful. The ambiance was a bit sparse, but everything else makes up for it.

Yelp
If you love yellow curry or garee curry-- this is the place. The curry had the perfect consistency, and I got a veggie version.. with lots of potatoes, and onions It was a large portion, enough for two but it was so delicious I ate it all in one seating
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
Still searching for curry, we tried this restaurant. It looked kind of sketchy in a strip mall behind full reflected windows, but once inside it was a normal restaurant vibe. There were people sitting at the bar on the far end who were obviously regulars really enjoying each others company. Our waitress was lovely and had a beautiful smile! She lit up the restaurant for us. We tried the curry, drunken noodles, and both Thai coffee and Thai iced tea. The food was delicious. My dining partner said it was the most authentic Thai food we've had in the entire area. Other Thai restaurants may be sort of a Thai-Chinese or Thai-Japanese mix, but this food didn't have other strong influences on its flavor. We loved it.

Yelp
Really enjoy how you can customize the spice level here, including on curry dishes: Green curry w chicken: ordered with level one spice and definitely still had a kick. Good flavor and pretty presentation Sweet and sour stir fry veggies with chicken: hit the spot. Fresh veggies in a good portion Both dishes came w jasmine rice. We got wine and beer. They have a selection of reasonably priced cocktails, full bar, as well as happy hour from 3-6 on weekdays. Located in a strip mall w ample parking,

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. There's nothing more annoying and problematic than blatantly shady business practices. I went here for dinner and ordered 2 plates of shrimp and salmon fried rice; 1 plate of spicy eggplant; 1 famous Thai sampler appetizer; 1 Thai iced tea; and 1 hot jasmine tea. If you add that up, you'll get $79.75. How much were we charged? $83.71. Yes, that's "only" $3.96 more, but it's money that was not due. When I asked the waitress about the discrepancies between the prices on the receipt vs. the menu prices, she said there was an up charge for card use. But they never asked whether I was using a card or not; I actually planned to use cash. The waitress kept apologizing and said "Ask the manager". When I spoke with the manager he refused to give me a receipt with the menu prices. You know why? Because the cash register is automatically programmed to upcharge, and folks either don't notice it or don't challenge it. He eventually did the calculation manually on his phone and came up with the same $79.75 I calculated. There's a sign near the front register that says that Amex cards are charged an extra 3%. Guess how much he charged us on top of the $79.75? 4.97% Can we say ILLEGAL?? I can't even tell you about the food...The shady business practices ruined it all. If they want or need to make more money, they need to just raise the prices. Don't advertise one price and scam people with another price--that's just not right.

Yelp
The food is top notch! I recommend everything seriously!! The service Is excellent they will shake your hand and greet you as you enter. Your server will go over the menu and give you recommendations to match your palette and your food is served in a timely fashion. I feel like I've been coming here for years. Ambiance is very nice. It's clean, quiet ( that's always a good sign the foods good everyone is busy eating)
google avatar

Myra C.

Yelp
It's just so good period! Tried a few dishes here and even nibbles on my friend's plates, well nothing tasted bad. Seriously. Very consistent fresh ingredients and fanatic dishes! They are true to their spice levels. You order a "2" spice that's what you get, not a "10" when you order a "2" thank goodness someone gets this right The spring rolls are delicious. Vegs inside crispy Papaya salad is so fresh and flavorful Pad Thai really well done Pad se ew always perfect, good beef and noodles Salmon and shrimp fried rice OMG SO GOOD! Thai tea excellent rich, refreshing FIVE STARS

Quinn D.

Yelp
The food looked great on yelp, but we didn't even get to taste it. Despite being seated at 5:07 and interacting with two waitresses, we still hadn't received any waters by 5:40. With service that slow, we gave up on the hopes of getting our food, and left. Super disappointing!
google avatar

Sharika M.

Yelp
Grabbed some takeout from here on a Friday night. The shrimp pad thai was solid and what you'd expect from a thai restaurant. We did pick up and the staff was incredibly kind! They layer a sheet of aluminum foil in the styrofoam box and then put the food on it. Genius!!! The inside looked clean and spacious as well.

Kristin Z.

Yelp
I always enjoy the food here! The curries are very very good esp on a chilly day! I normality go for the yellow one
google avatar

Erik R.

Yelp
Good enough for me. Wasn't overly spicy. So, I can let them know next time to kick it up. Panang Curry Chicken (they never give you enough rice) and Drunken noodles. Fried Won Ton for an app. I was happy with it.
google avatar

Shayla M.

Yelp
I came here off of a recommendation that this place is a must for Thai food. I ordered the chicken pad Thai and the crispy eggs rolls and a side of sticky rice. The pad Thai was just okay. I definitely wasn't wowed by the flavors. The sticky rice was severed in a plastic bag inside of the take out container. Maybe the dine in experience is better than take out.
google avatar

Ria M.

Yelp
Ordered Drunken Noodle and I got Drunken in Oil. Got acid reflux with the amount of grease on this dish. Service fell short as well. This is a miss for us.
google avatar

Lana S.

Yelp
Delicious! I remembered when this restaurant location was a different Thai place but the food was also good then. We came in for lunch the other day and noone was dining there (which is fine since it's COVID and more people make me nervous now). The menu has a mixture of Thai and laos inspired dishes. I was starving so I ordered two appetizers: the fried wontons with shrimp and pork and the laos beef jerky that came with sticky rice. The staff members were very nice and checked on us periodically so we had everything we needed :) The fried wontons were so delish! Filled with shrimp and pork and came with a sweet Thai chili sauce. The beef jerky was also amazing and came with sticky rice. Reminds me of the days when I went to temple and got food from there. I got the shrimp pad see ew and my dad got the spicy tofu lunch special. We were impressed on how much food we got. The only thing I would change was to add a few more shrimp. I only got 5 shrimp from a huge plate of noodles and wanted more! Overall great food and kept very clean/social distanced.
google avatar

Thomas P.

Yelp
In general, the food was superb; my friend said "best pad Thai ever" and the green curry was praiseworthy as well. My tofu with veggies was a bit to salty. The wait staff was solicitous, eager for us to take leftovers
google avatar

Vinay H.

Yelp
Service was ok and the food was lovely but the spice level was a lot. The two was more like a four. Overall great food and good vibes.
google avatar

Madhavi S.

Yelp
It's a new place and it's pretty nice. Service is very good . They took care of all the mess the kids were making . The place was very clean and well decorated ambience. The food tasted good . We had ordered pad Thai and yellow curry. The Tom yum soup was nice and hot for the cold weather outside . Spring rolls were crisp and perfect
google avatar

Kelli A.

Yelp
I always get the red curry w/ shrimp or tofu, spring rolls and sometimes the fried rice. It's delicious, flavorful and spicy goodness! Service is a little slow so I usually order ahead and pick up. The portions are large and I always have enough or lunch and dinner.

Mary L.

Yelp
This is by far the worse service and food, I've eaten and experienced in my life. The service was nil to nonexistent. There was an hour wait time from when we ordered till we received our food. With no one, not a soul in there. It's lunch time on a Saturday not one occupied table, we should've left at that. Ordered 1 that's ONE entree (pad Thai) and a side (beef jerky) the jerky was from a bag (I know cuz I've gotten the same exact one at a market before) placed on top of lettuce. Than the pad Thai noodles were RAW uncooked hard rice noodles. So why did it take over an hr?! Clearly they weren't cooking, since the noodles were RAW, and the beef jerky is literally just plated (ofc we expected that cuz we know they're not making jerky on the spot to order) but so again why an hr?! For close to no cooking?
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Ordered from Doordash Food: got drunken noodle, 3 flavor chicken, beef and broccoli, pineapple fried rice, papaya salad, and an appetizer sampler Pros: the 3 flavor chicken and pineapple fried rice were both pretty good. Would have preferred dark meat to the white meat they used since it'd be juicier since the sauce flavor was pretty good. Cons: the beef and broccoli was terrible. There was barely any broccoli, most of the dish was sauce, and the beef had a sour taste that they attempted to cover up with tons of white pepper. The drunken noodle lacked "wok hei", and the papaya salad was average. Average: the sampler was meh. Overall: 3.5/5 stars.
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
We've been on the lookout for a decent Thai place ever since moving here, and this place was alright. The pad see ew tasted sweeter than what I'm used to, but nonetheless, I wasn't too put off by it. I would say, however, that the flavors were a bit one dimensional due to the sweetness overpowering the other flavors. But I was pleasantly surprised by their spice levels and would say they go a bit spicier than most restaurants in DE. That said, the spicy levels of our food were perfect. I think 3.5/5 is a better number for my rating.
google avatar

C D.

Yelp
I am writing this as I eat. Wow! Legit spices, flavors and HEAT. I had the Papaya salad and and went Thai vs Lao since nut the description it was heavy on the fish sauce and shrimp paste. It was amazing. Now eating the chef's spicy noodles. I want to taste everything that is how good this place is. I would ask that one day they add the Thai purple, wild Berry rice. This is how you do Thai!!!
google avatar

Winifred C.

Yelp
Overall I will not recommend this place!! My rice is soggy n I asked for level five spice n no spice was in it!! Don't waste your time. The service was nice but it's not worth it.
google avatar

Josh H.

Yelp
I've tried many things on their menu: Drunken noodles: Bangin! Pad Thai: Pretty solid. I've had it twice in one week. Thai wings: Love 'em. Panang curry: My favorite of their curries. Not amazing but pretty good. Red curry: just ok. Massaman curry: forgettable. A few criticisms: 1) They are not good at modulating the heat. I've had Level 1 that was as spicy as other Thai restaurant's Level 3. 2) When you order extra protein or extra veggies, don't expect to get more food. You'll get the same volume of food in spite of paying $3-$5 extra. 3) On multiple occasions I've ordered extra sauce for my wings (which is a standard part of the menu, not a special order), and they never include it.
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
This is second time to try their food. Pad thai was really good last time so I ordered it again. Their pad thai is consistently good. Papaya salad is okay. They had two different styles of papaya salad and I chose thai style. I was a bit disappointed with green curry. Usually green curry is yellowish green but their curry was really green! If it tastes good, the color doesn't matter but I didn't like its somewhat artificial flavor. I wouldn't order green curry but their red curry was okay, which I tried before.

Jaslin Y.

Yelp
Authentic food they pack a lot for one serving. Very fresh clean and made with lots of love. Everytime I order, food is made to perfection
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
High quality Asian food in general is hard to come by in DE. Saap Lao puts forth a good effort. The dining room is spacious and mindful of Covid-regulations. The menu is is very thorough with your traditional Thai dishes. Food looks appetizing and portions are pretty big. My wife usually gets the Chicken Kra Pow at every Thai restaurant. I usually go with Pad Thai, Pad See Euw, Drunken Noodles, or a curry dish. I opted for the Pad Thai for the kids and went with the Drunken Noodles for myself. The dishes were good. Nothing spectacular. My Drunken Noodle had a decent level of spice, but it lacked the robust flavor I'm accustomed to. I thought my sons' Pad Thai was better and I ate it as leftovers later that night and more the next day at work (big portion like I said).
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
Wow. Finally an authentic Laotian/Thai food restaurant. Saap in Lao means tasty. That is what I had tonight. I was able to order super spicy and get some badek with my papaya salad. Badek is a must have for authentic Lao cuisine. I got curry, papaya salad, and some beef larb. I will for sure be coming back. The son of the chef is awesome and said his mother was surprised to see a white fella knowing a lot about Lao foods. Looking for Thai food as well this would be the place. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
MUST TRY! Don't let the location fool you, this restaurant is amazing. My boyfriend and I went this evening and it left us wanting more. We started off with chicken satay. The peanut sauce was the best I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly ! For my entree, I chose the pad Thai with beef. The pad Thai was delicious and had a nice large portion. My boyfriend got the Rama Chicken , which is basically a chicken breast ( I think) with the peanut sauce and broccoli with a side of rice. Finally for dessert , we got the pineapple sorbet which was tastefully served inside a pineapple! I didn't get a picture since we were too excited to eat it. The owner, Jerry, was also our server. His mother was the amazing chef back in the kitchen. Jerry was super nice and you can tell he takes pride in his restaurant. If you're looking for some quality Thai food, this is your spot!

Laura K.

Yelp
Amazingly delicious pad thai dinner. The portion size was big and the prices very fair. The service was impeccable.
google avatar

Robin M.

Yelp
I got the Pad See Ew with pork and it was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back!!!
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
The food was good, my friend & i ordered the Fried Wontons, they were tasty but a bit small & not much filling. i had the Pad See Ew, with chicken, it was good but not a big portion. My friend had Pad Thai with chicken, and tried to customize it a little but the waiter didn't understand or want to do it. His food entree wasnt very big either. Fortunately the prices are moderate but we were still a little hungry after.
google avatar

Khizar H.

Yelp
Great food great service............ yum did i say food is oh so delicioso!!!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Te M.

Yelp
got the salmon and shrimp fried rice not a ton of protein in there but it was fiya. drinks were very good also

Brynlee E.

Yelp
Food was really tasty and was ready quickly, and as a celiac I appreciate the clearly marked gluten free items on the menu. The only thing that was weird was the green curry - it was very very green, like it clearly had food coloring added to it. It did taste good but the green chicken was weird and off putting. We'll be back for sure but will probably order different curries (or just more pad Thai!) next time.

Abhi C.

Yelp
Absolutely love it. I have been here several times. The noodle dishes are great. The appetizers are amazing. A little bit dark and quiet in there (only went there for lunch, maybe it gets busy for dinner). Big space. Service is a bit slow.
google avatar

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Great place for food & drinks with friends. They never miss! If your lucky you can secure a seat at the bar.

Sheryl J.

Yelp
Great food! We have stopped here twice now after shopping at Christiana. We miss really good Thai food after leaving CA for DE, and there's not much in Rehoboth where we live. So glad I found this place; wish it was closer. Be very aware of their spice levels though; can be quite spicy even at the 2 and 3 level. Service is friendly and bartender can make great cocktails. We will definitely return!
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
My husband and I ran across this place yesterday. Yes we liked the food and atmosphere that much that we came back. I wish I could remember the young fellow's name (sorry) he was so welcoming. Yesterday I had the Mango Chicken (level 3) and it was simply AMAZING. Chef Lisa can really cook. If you never tried Thai before or even if you had. I HIGHLY recommend SAAP LAO THAI
google avatar

Himadri P.

Yelp
BE SURE TO GET THE LEMONGRASS SOUP!! It's perfect for a cold day! 4/5 spice level had a big kick (and I eat very spicy food in general) so I recommend a 2 or 3 for milder taste. Drunken noodles were absolutely delicious and the pumpkin curry had a great balance with the sweetness from the pumpkin and pineapple and the curry sauce. My husband and I have ordered from them several times and they never disappoint. We dined in for the first time and service was great! Great communication with the staff and our waitress was very sweet. Highly recommend!.... oh and the Thai iced tea
google avatar

Lander M.

Yelp
Decent food. Larb had a lot of iceberg lettuce on the bottom. They charged me for extra basil and onion without a noticeable differences. Flat noodles with just ok, nothing special. Soup was plain and tasted watered down.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Apparently this place has been open since 2019 and is 5 minutes from where I work and I never knew about it! The food was excellent! I tried the Thaigrita and it was soooo tasty. The bartender, really nice bar by the way, was friendly and helpful.(Saved me from getting hubby something he wouldn't have liked.) Our food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time, bagged up, and brought right to our seat at the bar. Really nice! The place looks great. Will definitely have to go and eat in at some point.Nice to know there is a local Thai place that I could dine in.

Kayla Y.

Yelp
Food and service was excellent! Spice levels are fairly accurate, I'd say it's on the lower side, got a level 3 and it was just spicy enough which is what I wanted. Haven't had the chance to try Thai food anywhere else in the area but I'd definitely come back to try other dishes.

Deneka B.

Yelp
Food and service was great. I did takeout but will be going back for happy hour. The atmosphere was welcoming.
