"A 10-seat counter is the stage for this multi-course sushi experience, where each element is introduced and explained to diners by the light-hearted and engaging team. Watch the chefs' deft hands at work as they craft dishes founded on superlative, mostly Norwegian ingredients. The skilful preparations include traditional nigiri as well as more playful, internationally tinged creations like a fish ‘taco’ where nori replaces the usual tortilla." - Michelin Inspector

STAVANGER: Host city for MICHELIN Guide Nordic Countries 2021

"If you need further reminding about the wonderful quality of ingredients to be found in this part of Norway, then look no further than this sushi restaurant. Guests begin by sharing a drink with their fellow customers before climbing into their seats around the counter and watching the deft preparation of the sushi, which is often enhanced with some subtle modern touches. It holds One MICHELIN Star." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team

High quality and rare ingredients turned to sushi with a twist. If you are into good sushi Sabi Omakase in Stavanger is a place to visit. It is an limited seating (max 12) omakase sushi restaurant. You will be sitting at the bar so you have perfect opportunity to observe the chef preparing your sushi. Very high quality ingredients are used. As much as possible they use local fish and seafood. Luckily the Nordic sea provides! Over the course of the evening you get to taste everything from herring to scallops. The sushi is often topped with unexpected ingredients (wild garlic, caviar etc) that adds an interesting twist to the classic sushi. And have you ever tried reindeer sushi.... I also opted for wine pairing. The selection complemented the food nicely but I think it was a bit overpriced (but what else would you expect in Michelin star restaurant in Norway right). The service was ok...maybe a slightly overly rehearsed and lacked a bit of natural warmth. If the aim i to make you feel like home this is not accomplished. Be prepared for long dinner. And I suggest to book a seat for non weekend days. More personal attention and faster service.

The restaurant is undoubtedly a must-visit for sushi lovers seeking a refined dining experience. The meal I enjoyed was absolutely stunning, with 20 pieces of sushi, each more exceptional than the last. Every bite was a journey of flavors, showcasing an undeniable mastery of Japanese culinary art. I especially loved the delicate fish and the precision in assembling each piece. However, despite the remarkable quality of the food, the overall experience left me with mixed feelings. The meal lasted nearly four hours, and the length began to take a toll on my comfort. Sitting on uncomfortable chairs for such a long time made the experience feel drawn out, which slightly dampened the joy of the tasting. I decided not to go for the wine pairing, mainly because the aperitif we were served fell short of the food’s high standard. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the level of the cuisine, which made me hesitant to try the wines. The service was highly professional but perhaps a bit too intricate for my taste. The numerous explanations and anecdotes throughout the meal, while interesting, added to the heaviness of the experience. At some point, I would have preferred to enjoy the meal quietly without so many frequent interruptions. In summary, Sabi Omakase offers an exceptional culinary experience with unforgettable sushi, but the pace and overall comfort could be improved to provide a smoother and more enjoyable dining experience.

Superb dining experience that was intimate and enlightening. With a limit of only 10 seats right at the chef's table (or in this case, counter), you get up close and personal with the entire meal service - from detailed explanations of ingredients to witnessing how each individual piece is crafted in front of you and then deftly placed on your plate... The seafood that evening was of the best I've had - the flavors of each course melding into the next seamlessly. Drinks pairing was spot on. The entire experience was really surreal as I felt like I was transplanted into Japan yet people around me spoke in Norwegian/English. Definitely a must do in Stavanger.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. The food is amazing, the service is incredible specially if you combine it with the wine package, which is perfectly matched with the food. The limited amount of people and the entertainment given by the staff makes it a guaranteed experience. I celebrated my 50 birthday here and couldn’t be better. Thanks!!

Fantastic experience! Excellent produce, the atmosphere was intimate but also comfortably and relaxed - Roger (THE Chef!) was in a jolly mood 🤩 I think this is the first time I didn't care about what I was drinking (even if it was sooo good and very well matched) because I was too busy and fascinated by the food, the chef and the tastings 😍❤️

Went to this restaurant for the first time and even though felt a bit uneasy in the beginning, with good introduction and explanation by the sommelier who was serving us was soon feeling very comfortable! There were only 10 of us all sitting along the bar, there was no menu and we were all in the hands of two chefs working and talking to us in front of us. The food was excellent quality as well as wine menu, most of the fish was local, sourced from different locations in Norway, yellowtail from Denmark and wasabi from Iceland! It was such a pleasure to watch chefs prepare the fish, using the torch and awaiting what was coming next in some suspense. But the atmosphere was very relaxing and the music helped! The food was plentiful and you should never disclose how much more is coming not to spoil the surprise! On a more critical note I liked the cocktail a bit less because it was not easy to access the sauce in the glass. But overall what an experience!!!

Their sushi was the best I have ever had. The wine pairing was nicely done. It was such a great experience we had there. We will go back again! It's highly recommended for visitors.

Went to Omakase as 3 friends, and had a fantastic evening. The sushis are made right in front of you, by a chef with a great sense of humour, and handed to you for the most fresh experience ever. The ingredients are extremely fine, and we had a feeling our money was not going in the reputation, but completely in the skills and the quality of the food.

Yelp
Outstanding Omakase experience that is uniquely Norwegian utilizing local fish and other local produce from the area. Very intimate setting, we were ten people only and all of us sat up front at the sushi bar. So many new flavors we tried. The sushi rice flavors and texture were fantastic. We even were able to try reindeer! Highly recommend.
