Love love love Sabor a Vida! Great food, yummy smoothies/drinks, great service and two great locations in vista and carlsbad. Not only is it all vegan but i can modify certain plates to accommodate my gluten free needs :) I have tried quite a few different items on their menu and look forward to trying much more and spending time out on their new outdoor patio at the Vista location. thanks for all your yummy recipes guys!

It was our first time coming here & everything was perfect! Veronica was very welcoming. The cafe was clean & food fresh. We'll definitely be coming back :)

Google
I can see why it's rated so high! Tried the morning glory burrito and it was everything your taste buds want to taste in the morning! Rice, beans, just eggs, bacon, avocado, mozzarella cheese, homemade cashews roasted garlic cream! Yes it's phenomenal! Their coffee was also rich and delicious! Family owned and run super clean and friendly customer service! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRYING IT OUT!

Google
Absolutely amazing vegan food. We tried super fresh avocado/feta toast. Adding tarragon to it was a great find. And mini cute waffles are a must. Fresh and decadent . They are soooo good.

Google
Amazing vegetarian/vegan options for food which are so tasty and uplifting. Great Burrito and delicious sandwich along with the Sunny Island Smoothie. Please be aware that there is a 3.5% credit card fee so debit card or cash is recommended.

Google
This place has phenomenal food with love, from a phenomenal family of love! This restaurant is truly a pearl of an eatery in the heart of Vista that every soul should experience more than once! Respectfully sent 🤙

Google
Good plant based place. As a meat and dairy person I do recommend this place. We got their thinking it was just a normal deli but nope we were fooled by the good looking food in pictures. The burrito and latte was delicious

Google
We visited from AZ and woah this place is a MUST to eat at!! We went here on a date night w/o kids and enjoyed eating inside. A couple days later, we came back while our kids napped in the car and ate burritos in our car. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!! Anytime we visit in the future, we'll be back!!! Such good food!!

Nancy P.

Yelp
This place is a gem in Vista. It has a lovely vibe inside. A healthy menu of delicious food options for gluten free and dairy free folks like myself, a drink menu with coffee and great non coffee options and the staff is super friendly too. Highly recommend.

Yelp
100% vegan!! Located in a shopping center I nearly missed, it had indoor and outdoor seating. Near 7-11 gas station. I was greeted upon entry, and there were three people eating at their cafe. I scanned the menu and was really interested in eating one of their bowls. The Monte bowl had roasted peppers and pepitas which drew me to order it. The components were all there, except spice. I would've loved avocado and a spicy taste whether it be the tofu, jalapeños, or a spicy sauce of some kind. The morita cashew cream was good though. The other two bowls use a jalapeño cashew cream so I'll have to try them all to see which is my favorite. I'll totally come back and try something new. I also loved that they use compostable utensils and take out containers, plus a bag that used recycled materials.

Yelp
This has been a consistently great Saturday lunch place for me, everything I've tried has been fantastic. Mint lemonade is the drink of choice, this last visit the chickpea "tuna" sandwich was great. Light, fluffy, flavorful and well seasoned, with big portions. Incredibly nice service, definitely ask questions or for recommendations if you don't know where to start.

Sylvester R.

Yelp
Though they were out of the panini bread the sourdough filled in perfectly. This vegan restaurant will turn a meat eater into a vegan (well at least part time or sometime). I am not vegan (as if it was a religion ). But sometimes I do rest my body from meat. This place is a great alternative. It's very good, the service is good and the place is very nice and clean. The happy panini was so absolutely flavorful and filling along with a fantastic arugula salad. I will try this place again.

Jo M.

Yelp
There are so many options, it's vegan heaven! I had the happy sandwich and the vanilla coconut oat latte. The sandwich had the perfect amount of heat and the latte was refreshing. The staff were helpful, and the shop was quiet and welcoming.

Paige S.

Yelp
This was the sandwich I ordered: it had barely any meat, which looked fake. The woman (I'm assuming she's the owner) who took my order was very rude and impatient. I've attached a photo of another review where her response was unprofessional and dismissive of criticism. I recommend Tropical Juices and Deli instead!

Jillian G.

Yelp
A delicious panini with jazzy renditions of mariachi favorites in the air! I highly recommend the hope panini with fruit on the side. The menu has several options between salads, bowls, wraps, burritos, smoothies, finger foods, and sandwiches. The staff is also very friendly! There is indoor and outdoor seating. At 4pm on a Friday, it was easy to find a table.

Andy D.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place :) loved the art and how it is all decorated. The owner and woman who helped me was so sweet and patient. My smoothie n burrito was soo good n I already want to go back lol. The salsas were really good too!! Much appreciation n admiration thank you guys so much for being here.

Jac V.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a couple years now and the food is consistently bomb The service is always amazing, the family running it seems so sweet! Not to mention the inside is soooo pretty and relaxing. They just added an outside area recently too :) on the weekends they have the best vegan croissants I've ever had in my life!!! Good lattes as well. I'm so happy to have found this gem and I hope you read this review and decide to check them out. You'll have a good experience

Nelly E.

Yelp
The cashier was rude when I asked for a to go box. Would not go back. Food wasn't that good either

Sara S.

Yelp
Every...single...visit...has been GREAT! We love this place and visit weekly for coffee, smoothies, Smothie bowls, burritos.... You must try!!

Amanda N.

Yelp
I have been to this cute little cafe on several occasions. Every time I have visited, I was welcomed with good vibes and great service. I always feel great after eating here and everything is homemade, tasty/fresh, and healthy. I feel even better about supporting a business that believes in what they do and money is not the main driving force. The owner shared with me that her and her husband wholeheartedly believe in veganism and this is there way of giving back to the community and showcasing what vegan food can be.

Daniel E.

Yelp
This coffee shop has a great veggie menu. I had their tuna sandwich and coffee, and both were excellent. I highly recommend stopping by!

Rex A.

Yelp
What a find! If you lean to or are dedicated to healthy food options, this is a find for you. This small establishment is very clean, and the decor is friendly, small but bright and comfortable. The staff was interactive, informative and helpful and took my questions with no problem. Then the food was wonderful. My sandwich (the cloud) was on lovely homemade grain wheat bread. I really enjoyed the filling which is a homemade chick peas blend accompanied by thin sliced cucumbers and crispy lettuce and tomato. This set beside my choice of potato chips. Light, flavor-filled and healthy food (minus my indulgent chips of course). I'm going back for coffee and to try there morning options.

Denisse R.

Yelp
Sabor a Vida has quickly become one of my favorite places to frequent. On my first visit, I tried the Morning Glory burrito and whoa! I was blown away by how delicious it was. I couldn't even tell the difference with the egg alternative. The salasas they pair their dishes with are great! On my second visit, I tried the Monte Bowl and it was so flavorful! The cashew cream sauce had the perfect amount of spice. Absolutely a 10/10 dish. On my last visit, I had their special which was the chilaquiles. They packed a nice flavor and it was such a filling dish. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their items. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. You won't be disappointed. Just keep in mind that they do close early at 3pm however they are open on weekends which is great.

Mindy G.

Yelp
It was our first time coming here & everything was perfect! Veronica was very welcoming. The cafe was clean & food fresh. We'll definitely be coming back :)

Jill C.

Yelp
This is an all vegan restaurant!!! It's probably more a lunch place than dinner. It's small with a few seats additional seats outside. I usually get their BLT style sandwich, but all their choices have been very good. The drinks and teas they offer are very tasty as well. Nice people, great service. I make the drive from Escondido to eat here. Easy off/ on from the 78 if you are passing through.

Spencer A.

Yelp
Gem of a find tucked away in a business park in San Marcos, conveniently close to the 78. Limited seating inside and out, but seemingly enough for those who care to stay. Seems like more of a grab and go vibe, which is what I've done both times I've come. Healthy and delicious vegan options, nothing that's disappointed yet. We've tried a few of the breakfast burritos, the chickpea salad and kale wrap, a blue smoothie, and pastries - everything has been delicious. Quick and friendly service both times, and very fairly priced! Wished we lived closer or rather the location was closer to home, however, we'll continue to come when in the area. Great place and can't wait to be eating it again!

Lynnette R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Biggest problem for me is that EVERYTHING looked delicious. It was hard to pick what to get. Landed on a burrito and it was amazing. The woman working here was friendly and very helpful with the menu. I don't live near here, but I will definitely go out of my way to stop by again. Highly recommend

Terry C.

Yelp
I have found my daily fix! This place embodies everything I look for in an independently owned, local flavor cafe. So much thought put into this menu. I had the tropical delight Vida bowl and it was FABULOUS. I am a fan!! Determined to make my way through the entire menu.

Ana N.

Yelp
The food was tasteless and so was the coffee. I got the storm burrito and it barely had any egg. It was mostly cold tasteless quinoa. I wish it would have had more egg and flavor to it. My husband got the morning glory which he states was also tasteless. We did not try the pastries which could be where the flavor is at. The lady taking our order was very rude throughout the whole interaction. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Griselda R.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! I've told all my friends about it. Consensus is that this place is so delicious! The owner is very nice and attentive The service and food are on point!

Mila D.

Yelp
I tried this cafe for the first time today and was delighted with everything I had - a latte with oat milk, almond croissant and the lightning burrito. Everything was delicious. The almond croissant had the right amount of sweetness. I don't like my pastries to be too sweet so this one was great. The burrito was also delicious and I didn't realize it was vegan until I started eating it and got a bit curious. That said, I loved the taste. I'm so glad there's a vegetarian place in Vista, even though I'm not one. The girl at the counter was extremely friendly. I just read some of the negative reviews and have to disagree with them since I had an enjoyable experience. I recommend this cafe and will definitely be back soon.

Maira R.

Yelp
Amazing service. Amazing menu. Amazing lattes. Go, to have a taste of the sweetness life has to offer!

Laura A.

Yelp
I absolutely love this wonderful place!! The food is excellent, prepared fresh to order, all vegan and sustainable. I believe it's family owned/operated and they pay attention to every detail as you would expect in your own kitchen. The chickpea tuna is fantastic on anything and avocado toasts are amazing!! I have taken many friends there and all have become big fans! The young lady at the counter is especially sweet and always remembers and greets me warmly! Definitely recommend for everyone, even non-vegans will love it!!

Emerald E.

Yelp
Very tasty vegan food, easy to find parking, earth friendly to go containers if needed. Lovely little gem.

Bayan G.

Yelp
Food is alright. Service the day I was there seemed to be the daughter alone with out the mother and she was having trouble keeping up with orders. She denied some items from the menu because blender was overheating? The concept was cool. Sandwiches, coffee, and smoothies/bowls. Probably won't be going back, however I do wish them success. Seems to be a hardworking family.

Mike H.

Yelp
What a hidden gem for plant based eaters!! We were recommended to this awesome restaurant by Ky from Thousand Petal Lotus (Great Vegan Grocery). So grateful that he recommended it and we listened to his advice. This Cafe/Deli is just one of the best of it's kind. I've tried a lot of the plant based restaurants in San Diego and Sabor A Vida is amongst the best that San Diego has to offer in both taste, quality and value!! The owner and staff were very friendly, helpful and conscientious! There efficiency in preparing the food was also very good considering the Cafe was packed at the time of my order. Their menu is quite extensive and had so many delicious offerings, but for my first visit I tried the following: Fysh Tacos, Rainbox Sandwich, Lightning Burrito, Churro Waffles and a Mocha Latte. The Fysh Tacos is the best plant based version that I've ever had and close to the best I've ever had even including non-plant based versions. It has wonderful corn tortillas (2 layers!!) and a lot of fresh vegetables in it that just makes it taste fresh and light! The Rainbow Sandwich is also very good. Compared to other plant based sandwiches it excels in that it is well balanced in it's use of fresh vegetables, deli meat, mayo and mustard. Love the addition of the warm crunchy kettle chips as well! The Churro Waffles are only made homemade and fresh on weekends. They are gluten free as well as plant based and are so delicious!! Oftentimes, I do not like when desserts are made gluten free, but they have found a way to make it both gluten free and delicious!! The combination of coconut whipped cream, cinnamon and syrup make this a bit a heaven that matched perfect with the Mocha Latte. I have not tried the Lightning burrito yet, because I was too full from eating the other foods mentioned above, but will update this post later. Can't wait to go back and try more from this wonderful Cafe and Deli!!!

Ana H.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat when I want something wholesome and delicious! I'm vegetarian, but I have come here with many different friends who eat meat and they can't stop raving about this spot either. I love to get the thunder burrito, and their smoothies are so good too! If I could eat here everyday- I would. You can taste the quality and it truly feels like a home made meal.

Pete R.

Yelp
Sabor a Vida is tucked into a strip mall along Shadowridge Drive, a block or so from Sycamore. They have a small dining area that is set up in a pleasant way - nothing remarkable but it works for a small space. Sabor a Vida was my first experience with vegan dining and I was impressed! I have been there twice now and have had the red chilaquiles and the Morning Glory burrito. They were both great! I was surprised how tasty the vegan eggs were. Not exactly like eggs but a nice texture and flavor that worked well in both dishes. I will definitely be back to try more of their very creative and tasty dishes.

Wendy W.

Yelp
Food is good but the customer service is terrible. The mid aged lady at cashier no smile and pretty mean.

Afs T.

Yelp
Fresh and tastes healthy! Tried the breakfast burritos and they hit the spot. Good service. Place looks clean.

Michael B.

Yelp
Excellent vegan options. Very tasty breakfast burrito. Would definitely recommend! Nice, clean space to enjoy a nice meal.

Penelope P.

Yelp
I have dined at this vegan restaurant multiple times and only like their açaí bowls, smoothies, and chickpea sandwich. However, the rest of the food that I've tried (burritos, chilaquiles, paninis) are either bland or overly salted. Their pastries are great but I do believe they're not made in-house and possibly from Split House Bakery in SD. The lack of music or ambiance makes for a quiet but uninviting atmosphere. Additionally, the interactions with the employees are lacking in warmth. A simple good morning after making eye contact with employees would be nice. While I wish them success, I won't be returning due to the overall underwhelming experience.

Debbie P.

Yelp
Had an appointment across the street and wanted to eat lunch some where. This is a nice little place with lots of good food. Clean and bright. Food was fresh and tasty. I recommend.

claire c.

Yelp
Great place for a fresh and filling vegan meal! First time here while visiting Escondido/Vista area. I would definitely come back again when I pass by in the future. Prices were decent for the amount and quality of the food and drinks. Highly recommend!

Markus T.

Yelp
All items on the menu are vegan. I got the Morning Glory Burrito and a Green Forest smoothie. Both are super delicious! This is my third time at this place and it never disappoints! I love to support small, family owned places like this! Swing by and try it out!

Y B.

Yelp
We recently tried Sabor A Vida for the first time and we are now such big fans! This family owned business creates each dish and drink with such care and consciousness. The menu has something for everyone and we wanted to try everything! For this visit, we ordered the chilaquiles and the tropical açaí bowl. I had to try their lavender latte as well after seeing all the pics on IG. Presentation, flavor, and the portion size were all great! We're looking forward to coming back soon as the staff was so friendly and even offered some tasty samples of their smoothies. It was a wonderful way to spend our Sunday morning.

Elvira O.

Yelp
Another vegan gem! I'm not a vegan but with restaurants like Sabor a Vida, you'll forget your eating vegan. Everything is fresh and made to order. I've visited for lunch a few times and I really enjoy their Monte Bowl, especially the marinated tofu and house made cashew dressing drizzled on top. It's so delicious and filling without giving you the lunch crash afterwards.

Kyle C.

Yelp
My wife and I were definitely surprised by Sabor A Vida Cafe. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. I had the Morning Glory breakfast burrito which was a good size, but didn't make me hate myself finishing it. My wife had the Moon BLT and she was happy with every bite. Neither of us are vegan, but this is definitely added to our list of repeat places we'll be eating.

B C.

Yelp
A woman who I'm assuming is the owner was so serious or mad and unwelcoming, she didn't say ONE word to us while in her store..coffee was all I got and it wasn't the best. I won't be back. Customer service 0/10

Marlene K.

Yelp
I'd pick Sabor A Vida Cafe & Deli over any lunch options any day. The food is high quality, not filled with undesirable chemicals and most importantly, made with love. The owners are so nice and truly care about the food they put into their bodies, and thus their customers as well. I've been going since practically the first day they opened and it just gets better as time goes on. They are always happy to share what the ingredients are in their food when I ask. Almost 100% of the food is gluten free or can be made gluten free and all of it is vegan, of course. I've tried almost everything on the menu and nothing disappoints. Occasionally they have specials and I try to get those when they have them. Vista is lucky to have this gem in its City and I look forward to their success and growth.

Alesya G.

Yelp
I really did love this place! Service was incredible. The mango chia pudding ummm DELICIOUS! The reason I gave 4 stars is because my daughter ordered the mango vida bowl (with ginger and turmeric in it) and holy cow it had globs and globs of ginger like we do like ginger but the ginger overpowered everything else that was in the bowl so sadly we were unable to enjoy it. Would definitely be back but do not recommend that specific vida bowl.

Paul H.

Yelp
Was fasting in January- no bread, meat, fish, poultry, dairy, coffee, processed foods- so looked for a vegan place. This one happened to be close to home with positive reviews. Small cheerful space extended to outdoor tables. Extensive menu, including gluten free if needed. Was finally (during fast) able to choose a burrito because spinach tortillas are offered. My Thunder Burrito was served up pleasingly cut in half to see all the various ingredients, including marinated tofu, rice, beans, generous avocado, and jalapeño cashews cream. Want to go back and try the Chilaquiles which other people had ordered and looked so good. My choice was absolutely filling, reasonable priced, with quick service. Across the street from Kaiser Permanente in Shadowridge, Vista.

Wendoline M.

Yelp
It was my first time trying this place and I was a little nervous because I got it through uber eats and that can always be risky because you never know how it'll be delivered but I'm so glad I did! Everything I ordered was a 10/10 . So fresh and so yummy ! I can't wait to try other things

Madeline R.

Yelp
Great food, fast and friendly service. Recommend this place whether you are a vegan or not!

Nichelle T.

Yelp
I never review places, nor am I vegan, BUT, this place was 100/10! Literally so delicious. I got the Valle bowl add marinated tofu and the Green Forest smoothie. Nothing weighed me down, and left me full and satisfied. I'd eat here multiple days a week if I had the chance. Excited to try more items. Service was great as well!

Mirna E.

Yelp
Yay for another vegan friendly restaurant in North County. We came here for breakfast/brunch after my daughter's dentist appointment. We were bummed to discover there weren't any pastries that day. They had a nice selection of smoothies, coffees, sandwiches, and salads. We also recalled their vegan waffles are only available on the weekends which was a major bummer for my pancake and waffle loving daughter. Anyhow, hubby ordered mocha and a breakfast burrito and I got a smoothie and a sandwich . I asked for a salad and got chips instead which I wasn't crazy about but didn't make a big deal of it. My daughter ordered a PBJ which I feo was pretty pricey for what it was. I know this restaurant has weekly specials you can view on Instagram and perhaps those dishes may have been better hits but our meals this day were just okay and yet pricey. We will probably come back because I really want to support vegan restaurants in the local and surrounding communities but wish their menu had a few more diversified items as well as more reasonable prices.

Gloria T.

Yelp
Small business? done. Small VEGAN business? DONE DONE! I saw a couple of ig friends posting about their visit to Sabor A Vida and once I found out it was 100% vegan, I just had to visit. We went one morning right after they opened and while we were the only ones there at the moment, that didn't last. Once we sat, the place filled up. I read that Sabor A Vida is a family owned and ran business and they do it well. The customer service is really nice! We ordered: Vanilla Coconut Iced Latte with Oat Maple Cinnamon Latte with Oat Almond Croissant - Hello Split Bakehouse! Lightning Breakfast Buritto Cacao Glow Smoothie Bowl The food was good! Burrito was nicely filled and not messy at all. I personally would like to see maybe a little food? Maybe mixed fruit to go with the breakfast burrito or nut butter on the smoothie bowl. Other than that, I am really excited that this place exists and will absolutely be back for more goods!
