"Chef Miguel Pintor, former culinary director at Mission Taco Joint, and his wife Brandin Maddock have created a menu that celebrates Mexico’s regional diversity in a mostly vacant strip mall across the street from the mixed-use Crossing at Northwest (as well as a new second location in Maplewood). Highlights include the panuchos (a Yucatecan staple consisting of marinated pork, black beans, and pickled habanero onions on a crispy corn tortilla), the machete (a large, folded quesadilla that gets its name from its size and shape), and the huaraches (oval tortillas topped with various meats). Sabroso even grinds corn to make masa for tortillas and bakes fresh bread for the tortas." - Holly Fann, Joel Crespo

Google
Food was excellent. Staff was awesome. Went to eat here before heading back home from Disneyland. Been here 3 times before. Definitely will continue to come by hear to eat when in the Anaheim area.

Google
This Mexican fast food spot hits the mark every time! The portions are generous, and the food is always flavorful. The shrimp bowl is a standout—fresh, zesty, and packed with deliciousness. A great option when you want something quick, filling, and super tasty!

Alyzza Alindogan

Google
The chips & salsa were superb. I think the chips were baked in house because they were perfectly thin & crunchy. We got the carne asada enchilada & chicken enchiladas. The portions were generous & the food itself is delicious. The staff were also very attentive & friendly. I would definitely come again.

Google
Great service and delicious Mexican food. I wouldn't say it's the best ever but you clearly taste the love and care in their food. The garlic shrimp tastes like they use good quality garlic and not the nasty citric acid jarred stuff. Delightful chicken tamale, great ajo shrimp and the red more red terrific.

Google
Sabrosa Restaurant is an absolute delight! We visited recently and were blown away by the flavors and freshness of the food. First off, the Garlic Shrimp was incredible – perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The garlic butter sauce mixed with a spicy sauce was rich and addictive, making us want to order another round! The Chicken Torta was just as impressive – fresh bread, tender chicken, and the perfect balance of toppings that made every bite satisfying. Beyond the amazing food, the service was warm and welcoming. The staff was attentive and made sure we had a great experience. The ambiance is casual. I highly recommend Sabrosa to anyone craving authentic mexican food. We’ll definitely be back for more.

Google
I was searching for an authentic Mexican spot and Sabroso Grill exceeded my expectations. I ordered the carne asada, and the meat was incredibly juicy and packed with flavor. It came with a generous portion, and the grilled cactus on the bottom was such a delicious touch. The guacamole was fresh, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this family-owned gem if you’re looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience!

Google
This place has really good food. Plates are huge! I like the atmosphere. Only bad part is the restroom it’s one.

Itzel C

Google
The food was good. Tried the torta cubana and it was good not extraordinary but good. They offer a variety of food choices. Will be back to try some of the other options.

Yelp
The corn tortillas are a must!! I've never had a corn tortilla so soft that it felt like a flour tortilla. I could eat them every day. The chili verde was so flavorful and the meat was so tender. Amazing meal! The service was excellent. Highly recommend!

Yelp
So Guy from Diners & Dives came through to check out the braised beef & beans... The place good, somewhat big, busy, okay service (not great). Food was okay. I got garlic butter shrimp with their homemade tortillas, tortillas are the truth!!! Also shared the chicken tamale, it was okay.. Not the best. My daughter got the meatball soup & loved it! I got Horchata for like $3, no free refills- lame!!! Over all its okay. Probably not be back.

Yelp
Featured on diner drive in and dives .. Sabroso is a solid authentic option in garden grove for Mexican food. So delicious Carne asada excellent flavors. U can tell it's just not a powder marinate. Not too chewy. Beans and rice are bomb. Their slow cooked beef aka Chamorro so tender and good also. My star of my lunch. Was the tamales it's huge but not dry. One of the best I ever had. Sauces are perfect Ask for extra spicy hot sauce Maribella was an amazing host server. So nice and explained everything

Michelle R.

Yelp
Food is excellent! Place is small and only 1 bathroom. It's literally at the front corner of the shopping center so you could miss it while driving into the parking lot. They offer wait list on yelp although I didn't need it on my Saturday night visit at 6:pm Prices are competitive with other places. Portions are generous and could be shared. They're supposedly moving to a bigger location across the parking lot.

Sydney M.

Yelp
An amazing hole in the wall find, that Guy Fieri has visited! We went with a large group for lunch and the service was great and they had food out quickly. We tried a range of dishes that everyone loved and the portions were huge! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Finally got the chance to try this place because my brother and SIL kept raving about it. I went here for a late lunch on a weekday with a few of my coworkers and it was not packed at all. The restaurant itself is small and also located in a small plaza along with other restaurants so it was a good thing we came on a weekday. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I ordered their signature pork tamale to share with the table and the Chamorro for myself. I can't handle a lot of spice so the sauce on the tamale was a bit too spicy for my liking but other than that it was pretty good. The Chamorro was delicious! It's tender beef chuck in a mild smoky guajillo sauce. It came with a side of mexican rice, beans, and homemade corn tortilla. Everything complimented each other so well. The meat was flavorful and tender and the rice and beans was so good surprisingly. I'm never a fan of just rice and beans but it was pretty good esp since the beans did not taste too salty. I tried a bit of my coworker's garlic shrimp and wow that was amazing too. My dish itself was a lot of food so I ended up having leftovers for my husband (which he enjoyed a lot). Will definitely be back to try their other dishes. I am a fan! :)

Yelp
Sabroso Mexican grill is kind of hidden in a small shopping center . Doesn't look like much from the outside to be honest . The service was super nice and helpful so I do appreciate that . However were the restaurant fell short was when the food came out . It was bland and lacking seasoning. The price point for what was paid wasn't worth it. I was expecting a lot more since I read pretty good reviews on it

Emerick W.

Yelp
We stopped here to eat before a ducks game and our expectations were blown away. I found out that Guy Fieri had visited there so I know it was probably going to be good. I had the braised beef chammoro and my girl had the chicken mole. We shared the asada loaded fries and the meat was juicy and tender. Our dishes were both extremely authentic and you could tell they put a lot of time and love in to the food. Our server Samuel was great! His hospitality was top notch and he recommended dishes to us and his recommendations. The entire staff was superb. Next time we are in town, we will be back. Also, the homemade tortillas were also excellent. My girl said they reminded her of what they serve in the street in Mexico. Thanks again!

Yelp
I'll keep my review short and sweet: Good food, great service, fair prices. My only complaint was that almost all the food we ordered wasn't as hot as I would have liked it to be - it was all pretty lukewarm. But other than that, the food tasted great. I really loved the refried beans and the rice. The Ensenada fish taco wasn't as good as the rest of the items I ordered so I'll probably pass on that the next time I eat here. I'll probably look to try the beef chamorro as that was said to be one of the most popular items off the menu.

Michelle N.

Yelp
We were craving Mexican food on a Sunday night and saw this place pop up on Yelp. I was excited because it has a lot of reviews and Guy Fieri has been there. The food and service are pretty good. I got a chille relleno with shrimp and my shrimp was a bit salty. They ran out of menudo, so we got pozole instead and it was pretty spicy. The only thing I don't like about this place is the additional add on charges. I asked for extra onion and cilantro and that was $1.50!!! A small side of cheese like the salsa bowl was $6.99. Which is really pricy in my opinion. For that price, I can get a whole can at the store.

Shirley W.

Yelp
We don't often get to see sit down Mexican restaurants, so this was a nice change. The atmosphere really transports you to feel like you're dining at a Mexican restaurant, so that was pretty nice. It's pretty dim here, so I wish there was better lighting though lol. Our server was really nice, I didn't catch her name, but she was working on a Saturday night. She was very efficient and accommodating to us as this was our first time here. She took our order quickly, and went to get chips & salsa for us. So our last experience at a sit down Mexican restaurant was El Torito. In comparison, the chips and salsa where were muchhh better haha. Once we finished our chips and salsa, our first entree arrived, the Chile Verde. It seems like this was the restaurant's most popular dish. First few bites, the pork was extremely soft. The beans were also pretty good, and it doesn't just taste only like beans! It went well with everything with the sauce, rice, beans, and pork. In comparison to the other items we ordered, this was our "lightest" dish lol. Then came the carne asada fries and those were huge. The portions were huge, and definitely enough to hit you in a food coma. I wish the carne asada fries were more 'wet'? The fries they use were thicker, so it was overall a bit more dry. I wish they were also a bit more generous with the carne asada. Next came the chicken quesadilla. Often times I see the quesadilla to be very thin, but this one was quite huge! I actually enjoyed this one as well, and the cheese was heavyyy. The chicken were actually chicken chunks, so it made the overall quesadilla taller and thicker. We brought the quesadilla as leftovers the next day to airfry, and it tasted more delicious lol. Overall, it was such a great experience to dine here. The food was great, service was nice, and the atmosphere was fun.

Yelp
I came to this place because of the yelp reviews, they did not disappoint the food was tasty. We got the chile verde and it reminded me of my grandmothers cooking, the cóctel de camarón had a delicious taste, and the signature tamale was super delicious. Yet I wouldn't return, my reasons are a few. 1) if you share a plate there is a $6 fee 2) the prices are on the higher level we paid $75 (not including tip) for two dinner plates, a drink and the tamal plus a dessert. 3) parking was definitely a little difficult to find, lastly 4) our servers were busy they had two guys in staff and all though they were attentive to our order I definitely think they need more staff since the place is packed at most times. However if your looking for a place that might remind you of a moms and pops flavor this would be it.

Yelp
100% recommend coming here if you want to try the best tamales! My party had the red pork one and we'll be back soon to try the chicken. The masa was well flavored and super moist, the proportion of meat to masa was perfect and the red sauce was super savory and complimentary. So this 5 star review is based on the perfection of the tamale. We also tried the chilaquiles, chile verde and carne asada burrito, which were good, but the show stopper was definitely the tamale.

Amanda D.

Yelp
I've had lunch here for my last two Disneyland trips because it's such a great local spot. Sabroso! was featured on season 20 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and they're known for standout tamales and traditional beef chamorro. I'm more of a seafood fan and they have a lot of seafood options too. Today we started with the ceviche which was so refreshing. It's topped with sliced avocado and has the perfect amount of citrus. I ordered an avocado and fish taco a La carte, both ensanada (beer battered and fried) style. I loved the avocado taco so much that I actually ended up ordering a second one when I was finished. I also love the Al Mojo sauce. It's good to pour over tacos and goes well with the secret sauce. They have a great selection of Mexican imported beers as well and service is always great.

Yelp
A solid 3.5 stars. My sister and I stopped by for snack though the other patrons were certainly not just snacking. We shared an order of loaded nachos with carne asada. These are loaded tortilla chips covered with homemade cheese sauce, carne asada, peruano beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. The carne asada was very good, but I was put off by the cheese sauce. It tasted and resembled the kind of nacho cheese you get with your snack pack at the movie theater. What is really nice about the menu is that you can order just about everything as a singular a la carte dish. I ordered a chicken enchilada in green sauce ($5). Was this the best chicken enchilada I've ever had? No, but it did satiate my craving. I found the green sauce a little too tart for my liking and the chicken was a tad too dry. I also found the shrimp taco ($7) to be very mid. With that said, portions were relatively big given the price. Service was incredibly kind and attentive. And apparently Guy Fieri has favorites at Sabroso! Mexican Grill which makes a return visit that much more compelling.

Lizeth M.

Yelp
good for lunch NOT breakfast If I'm being completely honest, I don't think this place has reasonable pricing . 18$ for rice beans and a tortilla with an egg THATS INSANE If you want a good breakfast spot go to poached kitchen in Irvine, California. Their prices are very reasonable and for such amazing food !!! The ambience is cool.

Fariha F.

Yelp
The horchata was so delicious. Highly recommend. The food was delicious too. The service was great as they were helpful with recommendations since I was feeling indecisive. The restaurant was clean, well lit and nicely decorated. All in all would come back again!

Vindy S.

Yelp
One of the best Mexican spot in garden grove. Service always top notch. This place was featured on diners, drive ins and dives with guy fieri (you will see his signature as soon as you walk in). I always get their shrimp with mushroom sauce but if you like spicy, make sure to tell them to add their diablo sauce (so so good).

Marc S.

Yelp
I was searching for an authentic Mexican spot and Sabroso Grill exceeded my expectations. I ordered the carne asada, and the meat was incredibly juicy and packed with flavor. It came with a generous portion, and the grilled cactus on the bottom was such a delicious touch. The guacamole was fresh, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this family-owned gem if you're looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience!

Yelp
We were craving Mexican food and stumbled upon this restaurant. This place is honestly a hidden gem in this area. For starters, they had such a wide selection of items on their menu which I'm sure are all delicious. The worker even let us know that we should be ready to have some good Mexican food and this place did not disappoint at all. The restaurant was pretty empty just because we came on a Wednesday afternoon so the service was fast. The worker was also really great with recommending items to us. Starting off, I decided to try their chicken pozole. I've never had this soup before and I thought it was so amazing. It was so flavorful and I would definitely order it again. The horchata I ordered was honestly one of the best that I've had. It was so rich and not watered down at all. Lastly, I had the ceviche which really did fill me up in the beginning. It also had lots of flavor but was a little hard to eat with the amount on top of the tostada. A plus is that this restaurant does provide you with free chips and salsa. I like how we had the option of the spicy or non spicy! Overall, I had a great first experience of this place and it did fulfill my Mexican food cravings. The atmosphere was very chill and welcoming. I would definitely return if I was in the area again.

Yelp
Searching for a Mexican food place leaving Tustin and came across Sabroso on the map. I checked out the reviews and looked at some options and we decided to try First, the restaurant is in a shopping center and it can be missed. It is closer to the intersection. We walked in and it is a small place that seems mom and pop shop feel. The hostess/server/ waitress was nice to us. It seem like only 3 young ladies were running the place. We waited for service most of the time, I ordered two drinks just so I wouldn't become parched waiting for a refill. We ordered the tamale combo, was mentioned being tasty but the green sauce on top made it tangy and with an off-putting after taste. Next, the California burrito, half wet half dry. The waitress was nice enough to bring out each side separately. I should have tried the red sauce, the green sauce tastes more chili verde than tomatillo. I didn't care for the taste of the wet burrito sauce or the chewy carne asada. Last item, the steak torta. It was good according to my guest and the meat was juicy.

David L.

Yelp
Way out of town but worth it! Guy Fieri never disappoints. We enjoyed lime and mango margaritas, guacamole followed by chile relleno. Chili verde.

Manny D.

Yelp
This one was a tough review. The food was really good. And in many ways that's the most important part right? But...service was subpar. We weren't really given the attention we required or deserved. We had to ask for our bill. It wasn't busy but I think a "partner of the business" had walked in and was given superb service. The other issue was I asked for extra carne asada and the amount of meat in my burrito was not "extra" it was a standard amount. I was extremely disappointed on that note especially since I was charged an additional $6 ( I believe menu said $4 )

James P.

Yelp
Always fantastic food and great service. I've been going here for years and it never disappoints. And everyone I've brought here have also been delighted at both.

Gabriella C.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with top notch service! Our server always checked up on us for refills and recommended us the must- try foods to get. I ended up getting their Al pastor burrito and chicken tamale and oh my gosh! Amazing! The tamale was so soft and yummy especially with all the toppings they put on top (which I was skeptical at first) but it tied everything together, it was so delicious. I would definitely come back for the tamale alone!

C S.

Yelp
Great Mexican food! Tamales are fantastic. It's a Diners, Driving & Drives restaurant. Guy Fieri visited this restaurant!

Liz H.

Yelp
If I can give this place no stars I would. Food is horrible and expensive. Not worth the money save your time and money people. Not even my kids could swallow down the quesadilla! The wet burritos green sauce is overly sour has no flavor. The nachos had tons of soggy tomatoes, hardly any meat, and they're $23 dollars. A lot of their pictures of the food items seem to be taken by the owner, bc it's definitely not what it looks like. We didn't eat our food to be honest bc it was that bad wish we could've gotten a refund! Go elsewhere save your money! Not worth it

Hoa Q.

Yelp
The food was indeed as yummy as others have gushed. The Chamorro was hearty and reminded me of a beef stew that I've had before that I really enjoyed. The avocado burrito was light and flavorful. It probably would've tasted really good with shrimp. The chicken fajita was tasty and kid-approved. Portions were pretty big. They refilled the chips a couple times while we waited for our meals, but otherwise, the service that day was a bit lacking, even though the restaurant wasn't super busy. I had to ask for things multiple times before they came out. The fajita didn't come with any of the sides (guacamole, sour cream...) like it was supposed to, but by the time I realized it, it was too late.

Teri K.

Yelp
I got takeout. I had the fajitas. They were warm and delicious. Lots of meat and veggies along with tortillas. The food was ready when I arrived for pick up. Great Mexican food when you are in the mood!

Raven R.

Yelp
I've been a regular at this place and it is such a gem. The food is always delicious, servers are very friendly and prices are reasonable for the amazing quality you're getting. Their carne asada, al pastor, and shrimp tacos are my favorites. Margaritas are delicious and strong.

Rica Y.

Yelp
The chamorro was definitely the BOMB that everyone is raving about. The cozy ambience and friendly service were also commendable. Samuel was our server and he was on top of everything. Thank you for your kindness & generosity. Will definitely be back to try the chili verde. More power Sabroso!!!

Daniel C.

Yelp
Visiting our favorite restaurant. This time I tried the chamorro. It was delicious. Thanks again for the good service.

Karen R.

Yelp
AMAZING food here. My go to is the camarones en crema. It's soooo flavorful and, as a Mexican, my personal rule is to order dishes I cant replicate and this one is sooo good I know I could not do it justice if I attempted to make it. Service is also really good, always helpful and attentive. There is plenty of parking in this location and the is plenty of indoor seating only. Expect a bit of a wait time if you go during peak hours. This is near Disneyland so if you have access to a car of another form of transport while you're visiting the parks I really recommend this place!!!

Matt H.

Yelp
I enjoyed my Chile Verde which appeared to be very popular on Yelp however my other 2 dining companions didn't car for their shrimp and seafood tacos. The grilled fish taco required salt and the shrimp taco was underwhelming as well. I expected a higher end ambiance given the price range and the high number of reviews. This was a delayed Fathers Day lunch for me so this was especially disappointing. As good as the Chile Verde was, there are other places I would have enjoyed for the $24 dish. I should have gone with Los Sanchez around the corner as my wife suggested.

Michael A.

Yelp
Nice clean restaurant with cool decor and good food. From the start service was great. I ate here on a Wednesday and didn't realize they close at 8 and I got there at like 7:50 and our waitress said no problem and was super friendly the whole time. I got garlic butter shrimp (Camarones mojo de ajo), beef chamorro and fresh coconut water served in a coconut and my friend got the chicken pozole. Everything was fresh and delicious and the beef was poked perfectly

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
We were on our way to a play when we saw Sabroso! and we are so glad we stopped. Parking is super easy and free. When we were there it was not crowded, but it was a weekday. We were seated right away by the nicest person. Our server was kind and knew the menu well. This was our first time coming so we did have a few questions. The place is super clean and really cute. The food is amazing. We had some of the best nachos and their guacamole is so so good. Their rice and beans are tradition Mexican fare and very tasty. We loved their steak strips and the tacos were awesome. The prices are reasonable for the area. We will be back.

Sera G.

Yelp
5 out of 5! The guacamole is to die for! Also the service is super quick & the owner is super friendly as well as hard working! The vibe inside is super cute & there's plenty of seating. Can't wait to go back!

Foody C.

Yelp
Food was just not great. Service was great! Really nice people. I got the California burrito with Carne Asada, wet mole. There wasn't much meat inside of the burrito. The mole flavor was off. Wouldn't go back here unfortunately.

Cristina G.

Yelp
We were in town visiting Knotts Berry Farm. We were craving some good Mexican food and we found the place. Interesting part is that we didn't realize it had been visited by Guy Ferreri but certainly the food is wonderful. The restaurant staff are very friendly and the restaurant for the most part is clean. The bathroom is a little undesirable but it works given the spacing. We enjoyed several dishes and we would return on our next visit to town. Enjoy!

Caroline I.

Yelp
We were visiting over Labor Day weekend from Henderson, Nevada and on our way home on Labor Day, we stopped in to have lunch with friends. My husband used to stop in and eat at this restaurant when he lived nearby. The restaurant was busy when we arrived. We were seated at a table and given menus. We finally decided on what we wanted and ordered. Our entrees were fresh, hot and delicious. We enjoyed every moment of each bite. This is a good place to eat. The prices are reasonable, the service and quality of the food is excellent. I can see why Guy Fieri went there. It's a nice place to go. I recommend trying them.

Naveed A.

Yelp
The food is is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in OC. Very authentic and it's family owned. The chips and salsa they bring are very addictive, so be careful you don't over fill yourself on those. The service here has always been on point. The place is a small hole in the spot location that gets packed very quickly. Every dish here we have ordered from you the carne asada, fajitas, camarones a la Diablo , burritos are all very tasty. They bring you fresh made tortillas as delicious. You won't go wrong with anything you eat here. The go to Mexican spot all day long.

Zach Y.

Yelp
This place is great! Went here for my birthday lunch and had the Chamorro which was super tender.. soo good! We'll be back! Special thanks to Samuel for providing great service. We appreciated his food recommendations and history of the restaurant.

Deb C.

Yelp
It's was absolutely awesome and amazing!!! From the second we walked in the door...the atmosphere is spectacular , the service is impeccable and the food was superior!!! I wish we lived closer as we would make it a weekly date night for sure!!! We recommend this restaurant 1000% and give it 10 stars !!!

Alicia W.

Yelp
A good friend recommended this place. The food was absolutely amazing! The ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. The service was quick and the recommendations on the most liked dishes were fantastic and true to taste! I Highly recommend this place if you're craving great Mexican food! I have already recommended this place and will continue to. I've added this restaurant to my list of favorites!

David S.

Yelp
This place is practically hidden in one corner of a nearly nameless, faceless strip mall. So easy to drive right past...but I suggest parking and eating. I had like the most delicious burrito, an al pastor with their excellent molé sauce. Everyone at the table raved about their dishes, whether the carnitas or the tacos. I also liked their chips and mild salsa. Fine service, too. No complaints at all. This is super, duper casual but isn't cheap (my burro was $16 and their speciality platters were around $23). Perhaps one gets what one pays for and I have no issues with the excellent, delicious food I was served. The burrito was easily shareable between two so perhaps that's how to economize a bit and still have a great meal. Fine selection of beverages tho beer only in bottles / cans.

Nick K.

Yelp
Kicked off waiting list.... But our name on waiting list told we were next, they cleared the list and sat bigger parties. Not a person waiting when we showed up. Not cool to do to people who frequent this restaurant

Hope B.

Yelp
We've been to Sabroso! Mexican Grill a few times, and each time, we love it. We live in Norcal, but this is a must-stop-by spot when we're in Socal. This time, we ordered the chips, guacamole and salsa. I ordered the carne asada enchilada with mole, beans, and rice for the entree. My wife ordered the Chamorro, which is beef chuck steak stewed in a mild Guajillo. The enchilada was terrific. The meat was tender, the beans were out-of-this-world, and the mole was one of the best I've tasted. The Chamorro was equally good. The meat was tender, perfectly seasoned, and had a nice little kick of hotness. The chips were fresh, and the guacamole was perfectly prepared. The salsa was mild. Lastly, our server, Sam, was the best! He was friendly and welcoming and took the time to get to know us. You can go to a place where the food is excellent, but the service is poor, making it a horrible experience. Sam made our experience wonderful (Actually, the host that seated us was great also). If you're in the area, stop by and give their food a taste. You won't be disappointed.

Melanie B.

Yelp
Love this place and have been going for years but it has been falling short when we have dined in our most recent visits for the following reasons: prices increased too high (you could go to Cha Chas or a more upscale restaurant with Sabrosos prices, they are stingy with their salsas (if you ask for refills when dinning in they don't even fill the bowl or delay giving you salsa until you finished your meal), same thing with to go orders they are so skimpy with the salsas!

Gail J.

Yelp
Well-prepared authentic Mexican cuisine! Two delicious chile rellenos served with the refried beans and rice. The yummy bonus was the guacamole, sour cream, shredded lettuce and a dab of pico de gallo. Clean, bright dining area. I will be back!
