Rock Stars: the incredible cave hotels of Cappadocia

"The mansion now known as Sacred House is two and a half centuries old, and was for a time a Christian church. Inside are just ten rooms, each one unique, all of them in a style that it’s not entirely unfair to call “maximalist.” And though it was restored from near-ruin by its present owners, Sacred House feels authentically medieval — antiques abound, and bare stone walls go a long way in setting a mood. It’s the best of both worlds: the ancient ambience of the caves, and the convenience of Ürgüp’s modern infrastructure." - MICHELIN Guide

The hotel room was cheaper than the hotel I planned to book, but I was too timid to stay after seeing the pictures, so I decided to go to #ScaredHouse restaurant for lunch and take photos only.||Scared House is more flavorful and realistic than its sister hotel Sacred Mansion (opened for about a year, not many people know about it), it is a living #mysterious mansion.||The building is very European, and it feels okay to come in during the day, which is more normal than expected. The corridor bathroom is dark style, with weird and strange oil paintings on the walls, very gloomy and a bit haunted feel. But It's nice to come here to take pictures or have a massage.||I wanted to go to the Blood pool of #ScaredHouse for spa photos, but when I consulted by phone, I was told that it was not allowed to bring mobile phones in for privacy reasons? ! |However, this newly opened sister store ScaredMansion allows mobile phone photography, and the spa offers half price during this promotion period! After discount, a one-hour massage is only 60 euros, including the blood pool and sauna experience, which is very cost-effective. I went to Scared Mansion for spa and lunch, and only came to Scared House for lunch and taking photos.||The design of the restaurant in Sacred House Hotel is better than that of Scared Mansion Lilith, and the restaurant in Scared House is also better.||We tried the lunch at the Lilith restaurant in Sacred Mansion Hotel. We were the only table of guests at lunch! After a disappointing lunch, we decisively cancelled our reservation for the evening. Scared House's restaurant is much better, but the service can't keep up. There are few guests, but the dishes are very slow to serve, and they need to be urged. It's only supported by the fancy environment. No wonder the business is so deserted! || If you just want to take photos and check in, you can definitely try it.||Since I didn't stay, I can only comment on the hotel's appearance and restaurant and compare the sister hotel for you||#TurkeyHotelRecommendation #TurkeyNewHotel #ScaredHouse #SahSarayCavesuit #VampireHotel #BloodPool #TurkeyCard #TurkeyHotAirBalloon #CappadociaHotel #2025NewHotel

A Magical Castle Experience – My Favorite Stay in Turkey! Scared House Hotel was the highlight of my entire trip to Turkey! From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its majestic castle-like architecture – a dream come true for photography enthusiasts like me. The service here was simply flawless. Every staff member radiated warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Special thanks to the Pakistani gentleman who welcomed me: he gave me a thorough tour of the hotel’s facilities, room, and even explained its fascinating history and artwork. His charm and attentiveness made me feel truly valued, and I deeply appreciate how welcoming this hotel is to Chinese guests! Now, the legendary red pool – it felt like stepping into a vampire’s castle! But the real surprise? The water was perfectly warm and crystal clear, making my swim both thrilling and relaxing. Breakfast was delightful, but what truly stood out was the hotel’s thoughtful care. Even after checking out at noon, I returned at 5 PM to wait for my airport transfer. During that time, **two different staff members** approached me unprompted, offering drinks and assistance. This heartfelt attention made my farewell as memorable as my stay. Thank you, Scared House Hotel, for making my Turkish adventure unforgettable. I’ll cherish every moment here!

NOTE: we weren’t guests of the hotel and we only visited the wet areas of the spa and had dinner afterwards.||Overall, Sacred House is a stunning property. We chose to stay in Goreme at another hotel which we loved, but had heard great things. We decided to check it out by paying to use the pool/sauna and had a nice dinner at Virtue afterwards. The staff were all friendly and helpful and made it a nice “taste” of what it’s like to be a guest there. If you can’t make up your mind and want to see the cool concept for yourself, you can always pop in for a drink at the bar.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. My friend had communicated with the front desk in advance that we might check out at 12:30 instead of the stipulated 12:00. Of course, this was our mistake as we overslept due to chasing hot air balloons. Eventually, we checked out at 12:45, only 15 minutes later than the agreed time. When it was time to check out, a male staff member directly demanded that we pay 100 euros as a "late check-out fee", without any written terms or explanations. I said the price was too high and we were willing to pay for our mistake, but only if there were written terms or corresponding platform rules stating this. The man told me he would give me an answer in three minutes and then came back empty-handed. So, from beginning to end, it was a ridiculous farce of the hotel asking for an exorbitant price. Since the room rate on the platform that day was only 100 euros, could we negotiate a lower price? But the so-called "discounted price" was still 50 euros. Then they said, "Let's call the police," which felt like they were threatening the guests with that. When the police arrived, they didn't side with the hotel at all. Eventually, the hotel gave up charging and quietly settled the matter. What is even more infuriating is that a female employee also threatened that if we post relevant content on social media, they will "reserve the right to sue us". The night before, we stayed at the Marriott Hotel. I sent a message in advance saying that I might not be able to get back before 4 o'clock and asked them to help check out and keep our luggage. When we returned to the hotel at 5:30, our luggage was still in the room. The front desk clerk just smiled and said, "It's okay." This is the true service attitude. It's not a problem for hotels to charge extra fees, but there must be clear terms, reasonable communication and a professional attitude. This hotel has none of these. The process was chaotic, the attitude was tough, and it even felt like they were trying to extort money.

Beautiful place - would've liked to spend more time there at the hotel. The front desk, restaurant, and the housekeeping staff were top notch. Truly exceptional service. A big thank you to them for making our stay so easy and comfortable. 10 out of 10! This is a must see if you're in Cappadocia.

I have stayed in many fine hotels, but nothing comparable against this one. Gondal is the best customer manager, with his great hospitality, compassion, ability to handle muti tasks. Having customized fine breakfast in the 2nd floor balcony make me feel like traveling back 200 years. Totally five out of five!

The best hotel I've ever stayed in! The moment you enter its like you've entered another world altogether. The attention to detail to every corner of the hotel including rooms and especially the underground spa place. There's a hot tub which is must experience with traditional hammam and massage. The staff was very cordial and helpful as well.

This is one of the coolest hotels I've ever been to In my Life. If you like Gothic architecture and something different bored of the same old boutique hotels this is a place to come visit. The blood pool in the hell dungeon is amazing with snakes and stone on the ceiling. If you are into rock music Gothic medieval and still want the luxuries this is the place you have to come see.

Yelp
Wonderful designed place. Must see! We will definitely come back. We stayed at the deep forest room, which has unique green setting all over the room. Food are ok, but the design will def make you overjoyed.
