"With another location in Encino, Sadaf offers some of the best Persian food in all of Los Angeles. The menu is expansive, and highlights include the eggplant delight, various yogurts like the maust mousier, and the three stews. Family style is the way to go at Sadaf, so order a few dishes and share with the table." - Fiona Chandra, Virali_Dave

Sadaf Restaurant is a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic Persian cuisine in a refined setting. The Koobideh was juicy and flavorful, the rice was perfectly fluffy, and the grilled vegetables were delicious. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, and the staff is attentive and welcoming. Their selection of cocktails is also a nice touch, making it great for both casual dinners and special occasions. Highly recommended!

Google
The beef shish kebab is amazing. The meat is so tender with just the right amount of burnt crust on the beef. The server was nice and very helpful. It’s definitely worth my hard earned $25.

Good Persian food. Great ice cream and dessert! Great service. Armenian coffee. Lots of parking.

Sadaf Restaurant in Thousand Oaks is a gem! The platters are generous and flavorful, the coffee is excellent, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Great ambiance and top-notch service make it a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Google
Took my mother there for her 90th birthday. None of us had been there before. Well, it was amazing. Our server was so great. I had a sampling of the stews. They were all so different and delicious. We also had another sample platter. Everything was so yummy. We highly recommend this restaurant. I wish there was one near our home.

A very nice atmosphere as well as a fine selection of Persian food and Mediterranean a little bit

Google
This is some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life. There is so much complexity and attention to detail in each dish. 10 stars. I don’t really care about service but it wasn’t good. Our server was excellent but we never saw him again after he took our order. Even so, I always tip the same. The service industry is tough and finite. Don’t try and prove a point with your tip.

I came up to LA from San Diego. Me and my friends were hungry and decided to try this place out. It had amazing service, kind staff, and very good food! Perfect level of spice me thinks.

Yelp
Highly recommended...and if you are lucky enough to have Mohadeseh as your waitress, you are in for an extra lovely time. She really goes that extra mile to make sure everything is perfect and her wonderful smile will brighten your day.

Yelp
I have to say I'm a super fan Incredible food and service... I've bin to both of their restaurants and I have to say it's pretty incredible I would highly recommend to try once you try you will get hooked

Suzanne B.

Yelp
This is perhaps my most favorite restaurant in Thousand Oaks and perhaps even LA. The pomegranate walnut stew is to die, for I lick the sauce with my fingers! The chicken koonodeh gormeh sabzi, hummus, and the eggplant appetizer are all so delicious --more like medicine than food ! I love the Zereshk polo, too! Hands down the best food, portion sizes and service. Love it!

Megan G.

Yelp
This isn't my first time here, and I can say with confidence that the food is incredible! I started off with the Cardamom martini. Perfect blend of sweet with a touch of saffron. I tried the Boneless lamb with barberry rice today. It was tender, juicy, and not gamey at all. In regards to service, it's nearly non-existent. Someone took our order, another brought the food, and the last 'server' was quick to drop the check. No one asked if I wanted a second drink, no one checked in on how my meal was. I would understand if it was busy, but I was the only other party in the restaurant, and there were at least 3 servers. I deducted one star for this reason. Ambiance is great otherwise. And I appreciate that they serve interesting alcoholic drinks. I'm sure I'll be back. But I just hope they improve on their service.

Yelp
Deliciousness times 100! We had the lentil soup, fries with feta cheese, salmon and rack of lamb kabobs with rice and salad. To top it off we also ordered Persian tea and raspberry ice tea. Look here, I've been to my share of Mediterranean restaurants in several states, Sadaf is where it's at. I had the salmon which literally melted in your mouth. My hubby had the lamb and was quiet for most of dinner which is a huge compliment. We both really enjoyed our food. The only thing I wouldn't get again would be the fires with feta cheese. It wasn't horrible but I've had better. Compared to other restaurants, it's not worth the price or taste. We arrived during a busy dinner rush and the hostess was very kind to find us a table. We elected to seat outside with the heaters which was the best choice for our date night outing. We were well taken care of though we were outside of the restaurant. Our experience was excellent and memorable! I can't wait to go back soon.

Yelp
I love kebabs, but I'm hooked on Ghormeh Sabzi-- slow cooked stew of sauted fresh herbs, special seasonings, kidney beans, dried lime, and chunks of beef served with a side of white basmati rice. Along with the white rice, they'll serve you a little Tahdig (Upon Availability) which is crispy rice -- that you feel is going to crack a tooth-- but soften it with the stew and oh my goodness it's delicious. The flavors are unique to a new palate, the layers of textures with beans, seasoning and beef and the crispy rice all meet in your mouth in gastronomic harmony. I ordered a cup of Persian tea which is served with a side of small sugar cubes. The right way to drink the tea is to hold a sugar cube between your teeth and then drink so that the tea passes over the cube sweetening as it hits your palate. If you try this, come back and let me know what you thought. The lavash or flatbread smeared with a lot of butter is my favorite way to eat the stew even more than with the delicious rice. We rounded this meal out with an order of the Zoolbia (Persian funnel cake) and Bamieh (Persian dough balls). You gotta love that there is sweetened fried dough in so many cultures. Efficient and attentive service and a really excellent value for your money. I love this place and am so glad they're in our community.

Yelp
My favorite place closed so tried this. Food very good! Ambiance is nice inside and service good!

Philip L.

Yelp
What can I say about this place? From the moment I set foot inside, the smell of roasted juicy meat filled my senses. The interior decor is modern and quite nice but did not match the smell I was getting. Whatever, doesn't matter, ambiance and smell don't have to align. Anyway, their chicken koobideh is flavorful and juicy, as is the chicken barg and juicy chicken. There's only one cuisine that makes the juiciest, most flavorful roasted meat and that's Persian. And from a food perspective, this is probably the best Persian restaurant in California. Service was fast and friendly too. Again, if you're into juicy-ass meat this is the place to get it.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
We stopped in here for an early Friday night dinner. What a beautiful restaurant. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We weren't expecting to order so much food but we did. Everything was amazing. The tahdig was nice and crispy. I enjoyed the Ghormeh Sabzi and Gheimeh Bademjan toppings. I had the Soltani and loved it. The ground beef kabob was to die for. Dont forget to get the Maust Khiar (yogurt cucumber sauce) to go with everything. I could go on but all the food was great. Service was on point. I love that they work as a team to make your dinner special. We will be back but we will be enjoying our left overs for days! Oh and the tequila saffron cocktail was fantastic!

P C.

Yelp
My best friend from high school is Persian, and I have yet to this day found Persian food as good as her khale makes. Sadaf comes pretty close though. We started with maust, bread and some cocktails. The Princess of Persia was a light refreshing cocktail, almost like a margarita. I would definitely order again. I ordered tadig and ghormeh sabzi. Their ghormeh sabzi was really good, nice chunks of meat, and a lovely balance of fresh herbs and dried lime. Their tadig was a little overcooked though. My guy got the Sadaf combo 3 which comes with koobideh, filet mignon and chicken. Every piece of meat was so moist, tender and flavorful. We both really enjoyed our meal. Service was 10/10, ambiance 10/10 especially with the live music. Sadaf unlocked some treasured memories, we will for sure return.

Yelp
Pre-Mothers Day Dinner and first time attending - won't be the last! We orders the combo #3 & 4 (could be mixed up in the photo) and omg it was SO much food - definitely worth the price! The chicken was so juicy, the lamb was so tender, and the salmon was both! I literally have no complaints with the food. They had a live musician that played really nicely. This seems like a family restaurant. Saw a mixture between casual and semi-formal attire. There's a bar and plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor. The bathroom was really clean - it was just an overall experience. The only complaint I have is with the manager Klana/Kiana - she just was very rude and you could tell she didn't want to be there. Luckily, the waitress Sam came and saved the day. She was so sweet and accommodating. The bartender Fernando was very generous as well. Then there was a male manager that saw us fidgeting with our table and quickly came to stable it out. Overall - LOVED the place & will definitely be back.

Kiarash A.

Yelp
This place is one of the best Persian restaurants in LA area. The service was timely and friendly. I ordered crispy rice (Tahdig) with stews and Beef Soltani. Both were tasty and similar to what you would get in Tehran. I enjoyed my visit and will definitely get back to this place whenever I visit Thousand Oaks and crave Iranian food.

Forrest G.

Yelp
I just ordered this place on DoorDash and wow, I can't believe how amazing the food is. They even gave much more than expected. I will definitely be back

A G.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant, we were in the area and since I have numerous issues with allergies, the menu looked safe for me to eat without having a reaction. The food was superb, beautiful presented! The restaurant is very nice, specious, classy decorated and beautiful background music. Ah, but the service is outstanding! Attentive, polite and well groomed. We haven't had this kind of attentive staff for a long time. Definitely, a place to return. Price is in the middle range, no complaints at all when the food is great.

Jeff J.

Yelp
I can't stop thinking about this place. The food was incredible, service was fantastic, portions were massive. Prices reasonable (for the quality and amount of food). I can't wait to go back. I was there for a special occasion but I will be visiting more frequently.

Mohammad T.

Yelp
It's was my first time in thousands oaks location, food was outstanding I get by my server Ashkan suggestion sultani kabob and loved it . Ashkan was so friendly and kind I can say he's the best server I have ever seen .

Amy T.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch with a coworker. No wait. Service was quick. Food came out fresh and hot. Never had Persian food before so this was a nice surprise, non greasy healthy dishes with lots of herb lemon zest flavors. We ordered the chicken and beef kabob and the portion size was very filling. Great music playing in the background very nice ambiance. Only complaint is the few uncooked rice in my dish.

Randy B.

Yelp
Went back recently for the third time due to pressure from our friends who love Sadaf over Maral. Sigh. To cut to the chase, the gf and I definitely do not (far below the food quality and prices), but it was better than my first experience so it warrants an update and a rating increase. What I got: ========== 1. HUMMUS [$free, 4.5 stars] -- Free with a Yelp check-in (yes!) the first time here, and free again from our waiter since it was busy and he knew it would be a long while until we got our food. Very good, great consistency, and very fresh. 2. CHICKEN BARG [$26.99, 4.0 stars] -- $7 more than a few years ago, it's a HUGE flat boneless chicken breast, charbroiled, probably 2 pieces (as I said, HUGE). Good, but way too pricey for chicken. I wanted it because it came with the Sadaf salad, which I loved loved loved from the Encino location. Alas, the salad was again awful: wet and wilted iceberg lettuce ruined it for me, just as it was the last time I reviewed. Come on, get this right! Feta, olives, walnuts -- could be so good. Conclusion: ========= Overpriced compared to our favorite local Persian place, Maral in Agoura Hills. and just not as good food. The vibe and ambiance are better, but not the food, service, or prices.

Zakijaan I.

Yelp
First time here at Sadaf Persian Restaurant coming in by myself. I was immediately greeted by Mohadesse who was so awesome and friendly. I ordered the 3 stew combination, side of Kobedi and eggplant for the appetizer. All so delicious. I had barely anything leftover. The baklava and Persian tea to go hit the spot and perfect for my hour ride home. I will definitely be coming back and recommending others here.

Ramin A.

Yelp
I have lived in SFV for the past 33 years and have tried many Persian restaurants. Sadaf has some of the finest Persian food in grater LA by far. If you're in town and would like to try something different, then this is your spot. It's pricy, but it's worth the try!

Brian P.

Yelp
Great place off of TO Blvd . Their menu is reasonably priced for the generous portion sizes you get. I've dined in and done takeout on various occasions and the quality of the food is always consistent. I do enjoy their meat especially their beef and lamb on their menu. One of my favorite rice dishes is their Albaloo Polo which I usually get. You get a really good deal if you opt for their combination plates and is enough to be shared with at least 2 problems They also have a full bar with cocktails with plenty of dining inside, it's a comfortable non fussy option to get great food and service.

Fox N.

Yelp
Our second visit and again, a great experience. Servers are friendly and happy to explain dishes and help you make choices. The food is outstanding! Fresh and flavorful. One of my favorite places! Thank you Imán! I just wanted to add that the portions are so large, we enjoyed a delicious lunch today with the leftovers. Just missing the fantastic service!

Mark X.

Yelp
Best Persian food in the area. In fact better than any Persian restaurant in the Valley or Westwood. Great friendly service and nice atmosphere. No loud obnoxious music in like most places.

Sakura B.

Yelp
This is my new #1 spot for Persian food in Thousand Oaks. They have the most moist chicken dishes, absolutely flavorful beef dishes I have tried. My go to is the Kolbeh combo and also the one with filet mignon cuts. Start it off with shrimp and mushrooms appetizer, w-o-w. They keep a spice shaker of this ruby red ground spice called Sumac that you can sprinkle on meal dishes they serve and it hits another level. Dont forget to ask for the white sauce. It is another crack sauce I've discovered that goes great on chicken, beef, lamb, salad, seafood, and potatoes! It is a little tangy, a little sweet, has dill, i keep forgetting to ask the name, but it's called the white sauce. If you have a craving for persian food, come to this amazing place. Ample seating inside and outside, disabled ramps all the way to dining areas, always bustling at dinners, great for family, enough space for wheelchairs, staff is very accommodating. I'm coming back for the stews next!!! Nooshe jân! -- Bon appétit!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Declicious! Koobideh was my favorite. Roasted tomatoes, mixed rice and plenty of z'atar.

Mary S.

Yelp
I came here with my mother a couple weeks ago. I've been to the one in Encino, which is great. So I decided to give Thousand Oaks a try since I was in the area. The food as usual was amazing the staff here were also great. Definitely a great place to check out Persian food either this location or Encino.

Sherri D.

Yelp
Been twice and both times it was delicious. Portions are huge so it's like getting 2-3 meals in one!

Norberto I.

Yelp
Best Persian cuisine west of Terangeles! Very authentic! Like homemade, just wish they valet parking & delivery.

Lina M.

Yelp
We are a big fan of Sadaf Encino . We were around the area and we were craving Persian food. As usual, Yelp didn't disappoint when I searched , immediately was sold on this restaurant and was hoping it was as good as the Encino one. We walked in on Sunday around 2:30 and were seated immediately. 4 of us shared 3 meals. One koobideh, one barg, and one white fish with baghali polo. We all loved everything. Their Koobideh is so juicy :) I was going to give them 4 star, because the server who took our order, completely ghosted us after he took the order. We asked him 3 times to bring more bread as my father eats bread with his meal. My dad even got up and went to tell him while he was flirting with some Persian girls on the table , and he ignored him again . Finally, my dad had to go to the front and ask others for more bread. That server never came by our table again , not even when we were leaving and for the check. He just disappeared completely. I would like to thank Fernando, who stepped up, asked us how everything was, and when we told him about it, he apologized, and willingly took off one of the items, as an apology. We will be back here because of Fernando's genuine concern and his willingness to help and make us feel welcome. Sadaf should have great service to go with its amazing food. Such a pity that there are careless servers like the first guy . I didn't get his name but when I go back, I wouldn't want him to be our server. Plenty of free parking on the back.

Mell S.

Yelp
CHECK YOUR BILL! We came here on the weekend, with three adults and three children. When we asked for the bill, it seemed a bit steep, took a look, and they added a 18% gratuity for three adults and three children. It said gratuity is only added for parties of eight or more. Usually we don't even look at the bill and just put our credit card. Thankfully this time we did. It felt a bit sneaky and just wrong all together. We usually order takeout or delivery so this has been our first experience eating inside the restaurant. Wrong way of doing business. We won't be back.

Nancy F.

Yelp
I am a foodie if you haven't figured that out but I got to talking to a phlebotomist while at the Red Cross and she's Persian. She knew i lived in T.O and I was asking about their traditional dishes, she said "You have to try this place for Persian food" Here is the name and you have to try these dishes, the Persian ice cream or try one of the other Persian desserts! I met up with a friend for dinner. There's parking in the back and along T.O blvd. The restaurant is semi big, you can dress casual. It took a while for the server to even come to the table so we had to ask for someone but once we got our drinks we relaxed, looked at the menu and we ordered a combo for 2 which would've fed 4 ! I'm looking forward to going back again. Please don't go if you're in a rush. I like it because i love to enjoy my food.

Nicholas P.

Yelp
Best Persian food in the area by far! Service was especially incredible, thank you Mohadeseh for the great attention to our table and for such a good experience!

Nicole T.

Yelp
I loveeeeeeee middle eastern food , of everything it takes the number one spot for me ! So with that said, I've tried middle eastern in multiple cities , states and countries & very few compare to Sadaf for me and my family . The amount of food you get for the money , the way it's prepared, the ambiance, the customer service ! Very few can be compared to them ! Can't wait for my next visit

Mehrdad K.

Yelp
Great service. Very professional staff. Nice and amazing environment and vibe. Classy and quite. Child friendly and extremely nice environment with live music. Nice performance and great food. The food was extremely delicious and fresh ingredients. Sabzi polo was delicious and freshly cooked. Highly recommended.

Sasan H.

Yelp
Food was excellent and restaurant was so clean and well organized, our server Ashkan did wonderful job and very polite Thank you Sadaf restaurant

Dr. Abdulla R.

Yelp
Super delicious and amazing food, lots of selection, a true homemade Persian food. Service is phenomenal, we were served by Alborz, if I get the correct spelling of his name, super nice guy, shout out to him. The ambiance is great, we came at non busy time of the day, so not sure how busy it gets. This is a definite true Persian food in thousands oak, if you within the vicinity, this place a must. We drove 40 mins only to eat here. Epic meal

Cigdem B.

Yelp
We enjoyed the lunch today Shish kebap and basti was good But the yoghurt drink was house made and we had diarhea because of it Well i know because the people who didnot have the drink are fine

Henry S.

Yelp
Absolute pleasure! Such great experience. Wonderful staff and service. Incredible food. The variety and quality of food was like no other. Will make this a regular lunch spot on our weekend rides

Ayelet N.

Yelp
The food and service is excellent at Sadaf. The manager Reza is nice and very professional. The food at Sadaf's in Thousand Oaks is far better than the food at sadaf in Encino. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Amazing Persian food, great parking and a wonderful staff.

Shaheen H.

Yelp
The several dishes I had were good! Eggplant dip, kabobs, including salmon, etc all good. Service was good as well. I heard that very soon they will start baking their bread fresh at the restaurant. Looking forward to it.

Kay S.

Yelp
Love this place. A bit pricey but overall, we like it here. Wasn't our first time or last visit there.

Reveka G.

Yelp
Sadaf is our go to Persian restaurant in this area. We dine here often and have our favorite server, but all of them are great. Sometimes, they have a live guitarist but the music is always really nice. The juicy chicken and their stew are amazing, as well as the rice options - all very tasty. I don't recommend their lamb kabob, but the lamb stew is really nice. Ask for easy dressing or dressing on the side for their salads, otherwise, it's a bit drenched in the dressing. And, their hot tea is really aromatic; goes great with the meal or with dessert. We have also had them cater for us, but it can get very pricey as there's no savings for large orders. Nonetheless, it was worth it as the food arrived hot and delicious.

Alison S.

Yelp
After eating from here several times and loving it, I finally got to dine in and was so happy I did. The restaurant decor is beautiful, warm and inviting, and everything we got was stellar. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Persian food many years ago by some wonderful Iranian friends, who helped me discover and experience the wonderfulness of this great food. This place would do them proud, I'm sure! The fesenjan was so good with those beautiful flavors with the deliciously crispy tahdig. I love the tahdig because it is such a unique dish that you can't really get anywhere else. The lamb was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the salmon kabob was moist with a great texture. Oh! And the dessert was really extra good, I can't remember exactly what it was but I think it was rosewater and saffron infused ice cream that I savored every bite of because of the delightful flavor. And a super treat at the end was the Armenian coffee, served so beautifully I had to take a picture. I can't wait to go back!

Tori S.

Yelp
I'd have to say we've eaten at Sadaf (both dine-in & delivery) 30+ times and it's always wonderful. Consistency is a huge plus for any restaurant and they've nailed it. The food is authentic, fresh and delicious. Portions are very generous. I've tried nearly everything on the menu. Nothing has been amiss, but my personal favorites are the Juicy Chicken, Beef or Chicken Koobideh, Shirazi salad, and Ghormeh Sabzi.... oh, and all the appetizers! Service is prompt and friendly. Ambiance is classy and clean.

Lynne A.

Yelp
Came today for lunch while in the area. A friend met me and sat outside. It was fairly busy at 1:15. Ordered the juicy chicken it was really yummy. My friend had the koobideh. She said it was delicious! Checked in for the free humus. Took half of mine home. Food was hot and fresh. Lovely day for outdoor dining.

Elaine Y.

Yelp
It's my first time trying Sadaf. I checked out the reviews on Yelp before placing my order. I went for the popular dish, juicy chicken. Unfortunately, it seems like I was the first to order that dish today, they are very dry. The beef koobideh might require an acquired taste. I couldn't eat them without dipping sauce. I am guessing the food here emphasizes a healthy approach. The dishes seem to be prepared with low salt and minimal seasoning. However, the standout of my order today was the appetizer, eggplant delight. It was absolutely delightful and thoroughly pleased my palate. I expected to receive the lunch special since I ordered during lunchtime, but to my surprise, I was charged the dinner price (they gave us tons of rice). Perhaps it's Sunday and they don't offer a lunch special on Sunday takeout(?). It's entirely my fault for not checking beforehand. On a positive note, the restaurant's decor is impressive, and there's convenient parking right behind it, making it easy to come and go. I might give it another try once I figure out what else to order.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Perhaps middle eastern food is not for me but this was a nice restaurant to visit for my sister's birthday. I got a combo plate and the date rice was out of this world! I cannot recommend the rice enough. I would come back just to get the rice! Parking was easy to find in the back. There is also street parking if you are lucky. When I walked in there was live music which was a bit loud with the crowded room but it's okay. We got the eggplant appetizer and that went fast. Then our food came and I was somewhat full already from the appetizer. The chicken was tasty but the beef smelled off to me. My husband even agreed that it smelled like fart. I know that sounds crude but it actually did. Either way I don't think I will return here without being invited by a family member. Thank you for helping me realize I am not the biggest fan of this kind of food.

Aras P.

Yelp
Best Persian restaurant in the valley hands down! My #1 go to'. The service the food is 5 stars! Juicy chicken plate is their signature dish and by far my favorite entree.

wheat q.

Yelp
Got their stuff from Doordash- Or I should say *get,* because I order from them regularly. Their koobideh combo is astoundingly good, all of the seasoned rices are spectacular, the meat is well-seasoned and the grilled tomatoes are to die for. I actually opened up Yelp to specifically tell the world how good this damn soup is. I ordered the lentil soup for the first time today, and I got full-body goosebumps. My back arched. I am trembling as I type this. This soup is so delicious it's scaring me a little. Also, I have Celiac Disease and have never been glutened here! Long story short, order the soup. If you love yourself- or if you don't, you will by the time you finish it- then get it. It's too good. Whoever makes this soup, I love you. You are a genius. Keep doing whatever it is you're doing. I can't type any more- this soup is one foot away from me, and my mouth is watering. I need more soup immediately. GET THE SOUP! Update: The caesar dressing is also astounding. Absolute masterpiece. They have Jesus himself working the damn grill here. My heart is filled with joy.

Rachael F.

Yelp
Delicious food, but very expensive! I went at dinner time but my mom told me the lunch specials are a better deal. The juicy chicken is very good, and I highly enjoyed the Shirazi salad. Service was pretty decent, it did seem like it took a while to have our drink order taken but after that it was much better.
