We arrived with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience turned out to be a significant disappointment. Aside from the lahmacun and the rice, nearly every dish had fundamental issues.
The meat-stuffed vine leaves were passable, but the olive oil version was underwhelming — the grape leaves were poorly cooked, and both the seasoning and salt were lacking. The Bafra-style pide was bland and underseasoned. The hummus lacked both olive oil and acidity, which left it rather flat.
At a restaurant of this calibre, one would expect the flavours to be impeccable. However, for someone familiar with the nuances of Turkish cuisine, the shortcomings were quite noticeable. The meat was cooked well, but lacked depth of flavour. The rice served alongside was one of the few highlights. Another dish, consisting of yoghurt, bread, and meat, was similarly let down by a lack of seasoning and character.
Overall, the dishes were either overly salty or lacked salt entirely. As three people, we ordered eight dishes and genuinely tried to convince ourselves to enjoy the meal — but left quite disappointed. The only item I would consider ordering again would be the lahmacun.
