Sae Phun

"Opened since 1926, it has been relocated. This small shop is now run by the third generation. The owner has been cooking with her grandfather's recipes for many years. The signature dish chicken stew is juicy with chicken and rich in sauce. It can be paired with rice or deep fried egg noodles." - Michelin Inspector

Sae Phun was one of the standout meals of our entire trip to Bangkok. We ate at several Michelin-starred restaurants—some costing hundreds of dollars—and yet this humble spot easily held its own and, in many ways, was even more memorable. The food came highly recommended, and it still managed to exceed our expectations. Every dish was hot, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced—not too spicy, just packed with authentic Thai flavor. Service was incredibly fast, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. What made the experience even more special was the owner, who was so kind and welcoming. She personally came over to explain how to enjoy each dish, which made the meal feel personal and meaningful. Her passion and hospitality really stood out. If you’re looking for quick, easy, affordable, and incredible food in Bangkok, you absolutely have to stop at Sae Phun. It’s a true gem and one of the best meals we had on our trip—highly recommend!

Only saw this on TikTok as I was in the neighborhood but I was pleasantly surprised and quite honestly blown away. The place has consistently maintained a Michelin Bib Gourmand and it's quite apparent when you taste the chicken stew. Very simple dish but the flavors were just superb. My first bite was very much filled with a strong, savory taste that I didn't expect. The owner was also quite nice and passionate, telling me how to enjoy my dish with black vinegar and white pepper. The standout were the dumplings. One whole shrimp engulfed by juicy pork. Some of the best I've had in Thailand. It's a quiet, unassuming stop, but definitely worth the visit

We had a great experience at this restaurant! The food was full of flavor and clearly made with care. What really stood out was how friendly and welcoming the owner (or manager) was—she took the time to explain how to add spices to the dishes to really bring out the best flavors. It made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Sae Phun completely blew me away. We had some amazing meals in Bangkok, including a few Michelin-starred restaurants that cost hundreds of dollars—but honestly, this little spot was just as impressive in its own way. The food was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and comforting. It wasn’t overly spicy, just super well-balanced and absolutely delicious. Everything came out quickly and piping hot, and you could tell it was all made with care. We had heard great things about Sae Phun before going, but it still managed to exceed our expectations. One of the best parts was the owner herself. She was so lovely and welcoming, and even came over to walk us through how to eat each dish properly. That kind of personal touch made the whole experience feel even more authentic and memorable. If you’re in Bangkok and want amazing food that’s quick, affordable, and packed with flavor, definitely stop at Sae Phun. It was such a special find and easily one of my favorite meals of the trip.

We found this little restaurant through its Michelin affiliation and were not disappointed. We got the chicken stew on rice with sausage and fried egg and it was very flavourful. The owner/manager came to give helpful suggestions on how to best eat the dish and was very friendly

Great place for basic Cantonese food. The egg noodles with pork in three textures was just amazing and the shrimp dumplings in Chilly oil just perfect. It is worth its growing hype and reputation and its recommendation on the Michelin guide ( no star just mention as a good place to try) It is a tiny place with seats also on the street so it is not super comfortable and it will be hot but the price / quality ratio is excellent I hope they keep it that way
