2 Days in Bangkok for Street Food Lovers

"The Bib Gourmand noodle shop has been in operation since 1926. Traditional recipes like the chicken stew with deep-fried egg noodles – a must – have been passed down through the family for generations." - Craig Sauers

"Opened since 1926, it has been relocated. This small shop is now run by the third generation. The owner has been cooking with her grandfather's recipes for many years. The signature dish chicken stew is juicy with chicken and rich in sauce. It can be paired with rice or deep fried egg noodles." - Michelin Inspector

MICHELIN Food Map: Bangkok’s Historic Rattanakosin

"This chicken and rice restaurant has been serving its classic flavours along Mahannop Road for 95 years. Locally, it's known as Lok Nga Tin’s Chicken Rice, as it was started when Lok Sae Phun emigrated from Guangdong to Chinatown and brought his recipes with him." - MICHELIN Guide Thailand

Another Bangkok Michelin gem quest. Their signature, chicken stew with rice, chinese sausages and fried egg is perfect. Simple dish yet good presentation, mouth watering and absolutely delicious. The stew gravy is thick, savory, bit sweet with generous and tender chicken chops. Limited tables and seats but orderly queue. Good service, fast, clean and tidy preparation, affordable price too. Highly recommended.

🍛 A Delicious Find in Bangkok 🇹🇭 The food here was really good! I tried their signature dish, which the staff warmly pointed out and explained when they handed me the menu. The flavors were balanced, the sauce rich, and the portion size just right — satisfying without being heavy. The lady managing the place was incredibly sweet and attentive. Seeing that I was eating the dish plain, she came over with a smile and suggested I try it with a bit of sweet vinegar and pepper. Since I mentioned I prefer my food without chillies, she even showed me how to remove the seeds from the chilli slices so I could still enjoy the flavor without the heat — and honestly, it made all the difference. Simple food, warm hearts, and thoughtful gestures — exactly the kind of meal that reminds you why Bangkok feels so welcoming. 🌿✨

We were up bright and early our 1st full day in Bangkok and so happy Sae Phun was open early! The prawn dumplings were so delicious! The chicken stew with crispy noodles was definitely my fav but we also tried the rice with chicken stew and my toddler loved it too. They were so sweet to my toddler and gave him a toddler friendly spoon to eat with. Highly recommend

Forget the white tablecloths and thousand-baht tasting menus—Sae Phun delivers a knockout meal that rivals Bangkok’s finest, at a fraction of the price. Every dish is a masterstroke of balance: hot, fresh, and bursting with authentic Thai and Cantonese flavor. The chicken stew surprises with depth; the shrimp dumplings—each cradling a whole shrimp in juicy pork—are simply elite. And the Ba Mee Jun Kang? Comfort food perfection. But what truly elevates the experience is the owner’s warmth. She doesn’t just serve food—she curates it, guiding you through each dish with genuine care and pride. It’s tiny, a bit toasty, and some seats spill onto the street. Fast service, modern ordering, and unbeatable value seal the deal. If you want a meal that hits hard with flavor, heart, and heritage—Sae Phun is the spot. Unmissable.

It was one of the best places I've had the pleasure of eating. It's not a fancy fine dining restaurant but you can feel the history of the place. It's the vibes. The nice lady (who i assume is the current generation owner) was so very nice and helpful, and speaks very good english to boot. We had the chicken stew rice, the three musketeers, and the prawn wonton. The chicken stew is not for everyone to be honest. But to the open minded, you must have it and try it with the black vinegar and the chili sauce they give. The three musketeers is the 2nd best dry style wonton noodles I've had, with the flavorful roasted pork and the fall off the bone spare rib. And the best dish is the prawn wontons. Simple, but truly delicious. Highly recommended.

Really delicious. I went back three times to try the three Michelin-starred dishes. The service is very fast and the manager is absolutely lovely.

I tried the recommended menu with a friend. It was good, but I couldn’t really see the specialty… it was basically egg with rice and a few other things. It wasn’t that cheap, but of course, it was still good! I would try other dishes next time. 8/10 😋 I’m Brazilian and have a travel agency in Peru — Cusco, Machu Picchu 🇧🇷🇵🇪 @dopkertravel. If you travel to Peru, I can help you! ✈️

I’m so happy I finally made it to this place. I heard about it from my friends. The owner ladies is super nice extremely foreigner friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. Especially the orange color spicy sauce. I recommend the shrimps dumplings they were extremely yummy. The park in the wonton soup is very yummy smoky. I’m sure I will come again.
