London’s New Restaurant Openings

"There’s busy, and then there’s another Jason Atherton opening, hot on the heels of Three Darlings and Mary’s. The chef’s latest venture will be an all-day British brasserie run with his wife, Irha Atherton. Head upstairs after your meal to a hidden, speakeasy-style bar, Apples & Pears. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

We had absolutely fabulous experience at Sael. The food was delicious. For starters we tried custard marmite tart with caviar, fish and chips, and brioche. All were superb. From middle plates we had heritage tomato and scallop. Once again, both highly recommended. And the main course was bone marrow pie, as well as tortellini with truffles and caramelized onions. The last dish was my fav and I wished I had more space for it 😋 The service was friendly, authentic and polite. We sat outside and it’s quite a generous arrangement of space, considering the central London location. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a nice dining experience or a date. The place is not cheap, but then it shouldn’t be it as It’s totally worth it.

I had dinner with my fiancé to celebrate his birthday on the weekend. We ordered the scallop with leek and razor clams as a starter, perfectly cooked scallop, the sauce was full of flavour which is not usually easy to extract from leeks. For main course, we shared the cuttlefish and scallop lasagna. The lasagna was airy and light, with thin layers of pasta which combined well the grilled cuttlefish which was more punchy and umami in flavour. For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate tart were excellent. The sticky toffee pudding was very light and airy, a balanced caramel (not overly sweet) with clotted cream to smooth all the flavours. The chocolate tart is so smooth, silky and chocolaty with that pinch of saltiness at the end of every bite alongside with the smoked milk ice cream - just how you want a proper chocolate tart to be like. Overall, would recommend highly.

There are many choices of great food We had starters like fish and chips (the chips are very good), zucchini, beef carpaccio, burrata, crispy cabbage was tasty The main course are Lamb - very tasty Redeye - 40 days matured but overcooked and salty - no good Sea bream was fresh and tasty Char grilled chicken 6/10

We celebrated Valentine's Day with lunch at Sael, having seen many recommendations and high praise, and were very pleased that it lived up to the reviews. The marmite custard tart is divine - we wished it was bigger and could have easily eaten a dozen of them...but struggled to finish our 3 courses as it was. We had the prix fixe menu which is incredible value for what you have. Everything was so delicious and flavourful. We both had the onion soup, followed by the sausage and mash, and then the sorbet and the bread & butter pudding. Staff were all friendly, with the right level of attentiveness. 10/10, we'll certainly be returning

Beautiful setting, friendly attentive staff, interesting wines by the glass, and delicious food. We really enjoyed the variety and creativity of the vegetarian dishes, we enjoy all foods but the ability to make simple vegetables enjoyable dishes in their own right, deserves extra regoniton. Have been looking forward to trying Sael for a while and it was even better than expected. Excited to return!

Mixed feelings about this one as I had high hopes! After I saw Grace Dent rave about the marmite tarts, I immediately bumped this place up on my list. Everything started off fine but there was a kerfuffle with the menus. We ended up ordering everything we wanted in the end so it was ok. The marmite tart was so tiny. It was so salty (obviously) but I thought there would be more depth of flavour to it. The mushroom flatbread was nice but it was so difficult to cut with a regular bread knife and they took away the actual knife while we were still eating. The laminated brioche was also tasty but didnt seem the right texture to be eating with butter. It just crumbled. Was so excited about the oysters but didn’t seem that fresh. Pasta main was alright but nothing ground breaking. Loved the sorbet and the mango though. Maybe it was an off day but would be keen to go again at some stage.

We came here for our 10year anniversary and were treated to a beautiful booth seat to be able to sit next to one another rather than opposite. Food was exquisite and the set menu had just as much attention to presentation and flavour as the a la carte choices. Staff were attentive. The fit out of the restaurant was very high end and a great all round experience.

Absolutely fantastic! Wonderful food, awesome drinks and great service from the whole team. Giacomo was especially gracious and was really knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He provided really helpful advice and recommendations, leading to one of my best meals of 2025. The prix fixe menu is perhaps the best fine dining deal in London right now, but I'll definitely be back to try the full menu as well. The cocktails and wines by the glass are fantastic. Be sure to try the marmite custard tart and the sparkling Tokaj wine, as well as the passionfruit sorbet if it's on offer. Will be my new regular haunt when in central London.
