London’s New Restaurant Openings

"There’s busy, and then there’s another Jason Atherton opening, hot on the heels of Three Darlings and Mary’s. The chef’s latest venture will be an all-day British brasserie run with his wife, Irha Atherton. Head upstairs after your meal to a hidden, speakeasy-style bar, Apples & Pears. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Sael - Review - London - The Infatuation

Very accommodating staff and attentive service. Honest recommendations on dishes. Food was hearty and had an abundance of flavour. The fish cakes were dense parcels of creamy, chewy goodness. The chicken pie was served in a skillet frying pan and had a nice flaky, crisp cap. The side spicy cabbage was tender and flavourful. The sea bass was cooked to perfection with a light crisp skin and a firm meaty body. Looking forward to trying the other restaurants in the group.

Visited Sael London and had a really pleasant evening overall. The room has a warm, buzzy brasserie feel, soft lighting, comfortable tables and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger over a bottle of wine. Service was genuinely good throughout: friendly, attentive without hovering, and everything arrived at a nice pace. The food is solid and well executed. The oysters were fresh and clean (but not to my liking - lemon zest was wrong addition), the langoustines were OK (slightly over-grilled) , and the twice-baked cheese soufflé was OK. Our mains were cooked properly and presented well, and desserts were enjoyable too. For me the cooking sits firmly in the “good” category rather than truly memorable, but everything we had was tasty and satisfying. All in all, Sael is a very decent spot for a relaxed dinner with good food, good service and a lovely atmosphere.

I discovered Sael on Instagram. It was on a reel for best places in London to have a roast lunch. So, we gave it a go! The venue is quite fancy but not pretentious. The Sunday menu was exquisite. The brioche roll with beef dripping was immense. The pork scratching were so light and fluffy. Then the roast - wow! Three different meats, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, yorkie with mash potato and cauliflower cheese. All for £27pp on a sharing platter. The food was simply delicious. The customer service was excellent. They were really good at keeping the wine and water glasses flowing. Overall a fab experience. Great for dates, celebrations or a work lunch. Super job!

We popped in for a pre theatre lunch last Saturday and had the most wonderful time. The service was outstanding as was the food. The marmite egg custard tart was utterly delicious as was the fishcake, smashed burger and mushroom pasta. We all loved our food and the cocktails were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We stumbled across Sael by accident and are so happy we did. We were celebrating our friends 70th and they made her seel so special which was lovely. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to london. Thank you for helping make our trip so memorable.

We just had the Sunday roast platter at Sael. Absolutely delicious and very generous, excellent value for money. The team are so lovely, the atmosphere is great. You cannot go here without having the marmite custard tart, possibly the best thing you will ever eat! We were massive fans of Pollen Street Social and Sael is continuing the Atherton ethos of excellent food and wonderful hospitality. Highly recommended! Can’t wait to return!

Hands down the best sunday lunch I've ever had, every dish was simply fabulous. The Sommelier was very good as well, was very engaging and informative. Really nice touch Jason visiting the table as well!

We had absolutely fabulous experience at Sael. The food was delicious. For starters we tried custard marmite tart with caviar, fish and chips, and brioche. All were superb. From middle plates we had heritage tomato and scallop. Once again, both highly recommended. And the main course was bone marrow pie, as well as tortellini with truffles and caramelized onions. The last dish was my fav and I wished I had more space for it 😋 The service was friendly, authentic and polite. We sat outside and it’s quite a generous arrangement of space, considering the central London location. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a nice dining experience or a date. The place is not cheap, but then it shouldn’t be it as It’s totally worth it.
