Sang Tha Tian serves Southern Thai cuisine with a daily set menu prepared in advance by the restaurant. This is not a walk in place. You must make a reservation ahead of time, and seats are very limited, which is why it often books out quickly.
The reservation price is 5,300 baht for four people, not including any special dishes or additional orders. Honestly, do not rush to order extra food. The daily set menu alone is already generous, and we could not finish everything. If there are specific dishes you really want to try, it is better to request them in advance.
The atmosphere is calm and comfortable, with a simple, local feel that keeps the focus on the food. It is not directly on the Chao Phraya River, but the location is still a great bonus. You can easily walk to a nearby spot to take photos of Wat Arun, and the view is stunning. It is one of the best angles to see the temple clearly, especially in the late afternoon or early evening.
The portions are large, and the menu offers a wide variety of dishes, including some traditional recipes that are hard to find. We had items I had never tried before, such as rice salad, stir fried stink beans with shrimp paste topped with cha om, shrimp paste dip served with fruits like green mango and rose apple, and kaeng cha muang. It felt like a proper Southern Thai home style feast.
The flavors were good overall, though a few dishes leaned a bit sweet, which might not suit everyone. For me, the experience was very enjoyable. The service was attentive, and the staff explained each dish clearly, which made the meal even more meaningful. If you enjoy traditional Southern Thai food and do not mind planning ahead, this is a place worth experiencing.
