Last week was Restaurant Week in Newport. We sure did luck out with that one!
The Safari Room is absolutely stunning. We had a reservation for 4 PM that gave us ample time to settle in with some drinks and get ready to watch the sunset on the enclosed back patio. Even though it was freezing outside, fear not. The temperature was great where we were seated.
They have an awesome drink menu! We all started with Some Kind of Wonderful that has Deep Eddy Grapefruit Vodka, St. Elder Blood Orange Liqueur, Lemon Juice, Peach Puree and Bubbles. Refreshing! Yum!
They did have a special menu for Restaurant Week that night and it was pretty amazing. A starter/app, main course, dessert and even a beer or glass of wine for $50. What?! How can you go wrong?!
I started with the Roasted Beet Salad- heirloom beets, fried goat cheese, winter greens, pistachios with a brown butter vinaigrette. There's just something about golden fried goat cheese...so great with the beets and pistachios.
For my main course, I had the Steak Frites- grilled prime sirloin, parmesan & truffle fries and roasted garlic aioli. I subbed out the fries for the polenta they were doing that night. Deliciousness! The steak was cooked just the way I ordered it.
I also tried another drink called the Sicario- Pineapple infused Tequila, Lemon & Simple Syrup, Bubbles and a Creme de Cassis Float. This one was spicy! Definitely had a kick!
To end the meal, I went with the Mini Carrot Cake- chopped walnuts, pineapple, raisins, cream cheese, white chocolate curls, whipped cream. Check out the picture that I posted. So decadent!
The Safari Room's sunset and ambience made for a perfect evening filled with smiles, laughs and great conversation. I'd put this meal and night on repeat any opportunity I get in the future! Cheers!
